‘Heeb’: Brought to You By the Director of ‘Schindler’s List’

Why just the other day I was sitting around thinking it wouldn’t surprise me a bit if she dressed as Hitler and made fun of the Holocaust. To be honest, though, it wasn’t much more surprising to find Steven Spielberg’s name attached to this:
“Domestic Goddess Hitler” eats a “Jew Cookie” fresh from the oven.
The director may have captured our cinematic imagination throughout most of the 70s and 80s, but the creator of “E.T.” has a dark, troubling side when it comes to personal politics. He is, after all, the Useful Idiot who had to be shamed out of putting a pretty face on one of the most oppressive governments in the history of mankind — he is, after all, the director of “Munich,” an exercise in moral equivalency and historical revisionism written by a screenwriter who, after claiming he wanted Israel to exist, said, “…the founding of the state of Israel was for the Jewish people an historical, moral, political calamity.”
Barr’s Jewish Cookies-In-The-Oven photo can be found in the latest issue of “Heeb” (which, if my third-grade, summer camp fat lip recalls correctly, is a slur), a publication ”backed financially by Steven Spielberg“. In fact, there might not have been a “Heeb” without him:
The magazine was criticized for such a controversial name mostly because The Joshua Venture, a non-profit group backed by Steven Spielberg, granted them $60,000 to start up a business.
Somehow it gets worse. Spielberg’s prodigy refuse to limit the hate to their own (something that used to be called “unacceptable prejudice”). In 2004, the magazine took a vicious swing at Christians with a photo spread depicting Christ and the Virgin Mary in such unspeakable ways the Anti-Defamation League felt compelled to speak out [emphasis added]:
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today expressed outrage at a shocking parody in the winter 2004 issue of Heeb Magazine that plays on the recent controversy surrounding Mel Gibson’s film “The Passion of the Christ.” Among other destructive images, the magazine’s “Crimes of Passion” photo display portrays Jesus as a sex object with his genitalia wrapped in a Jewish prayer shawl. The Virgin Mary is shown as a seductress with exposed breasts and body piercings.
“Heeb Magazine’s irresponsible attempt at parody is deeply offensive and blasphemous to both Christians and Jews,” said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director. ”There is a point when parody crosses the line into tastelessness. With this issue, Heeb not only crosses that boundary but engages in highly destructive anti-Christian themes that are both insensitive and ill-timed.”
To avoid honest work, somewhere along the line the lazy and untalented got away with calling “shocking” and “offensive” art, and this is where we find ourselves today.
The benefit, I guess, is an honest look at the Palace Guards of our culture. When the mask slips, our Spielbergs are a pretty ugly bunch.

This is the same Steven Spielberg who called his meeting with Fidel Castro, "The eight most important hours of my life."
I cannot help but admire Spielberg's filmmaking skills, but I think there is something warped and twisted in a man who can at once make Schindler's List, the definitive film about tyranny and oppression and then become schoolboy giddy over a another evil, oppressive tyrant like Fidel Castro.
What is this obsession Hollywood libs have for tyrants, terrorists, oppressors, Communists and Fascists? If Spielberg were a Cuban filmmaker who did not produce films supporting the Fidel philosophy, he would be the first in line to a Cuban reeducation prison along with the rest of the Fidel/Che sycophants in Hollywood.
Spielberg used to make brilliant films. He turned a corner somewhere…I think around the time he made "Munich" but possibly before that, since he chose to make "Munich" in the first place.
Now I find him unwatchable. It's a shame, really.

I would like to go on record as saying that Spielberg has made some of the best scenes in Hollywood history: openings of Jaws and Raiders, RR crossing encounter in Close Encounters, storming the beaches in Ryan. But! I have never once completely enjoyed one of his films. There is always something in them that is PC, corny, illogical (like the last 30 minutes of Raiders), etc.

What I find strange about this whole thing is the total lack of outrage outside of a few conservative blogs.
Now to be fair, Spielberg created some foundation as a tax break to ostensibly promote Jewish culture or something, and some moron at the foundation doled out the bucks to some guy who claims he's going to create a hip irreverent mag for young Jews. He didn't quite pick up the phone, call "Heeb" magazine, and order them to put together the most tasteless and disgusting spread they could come up with. Should he be embarrassed this happened? Sure. But what could he do? His foundation probably made a one-time only grant to start up the mag, which has been around for a few years.
(For the record, I absolutely loathed every second of "Munich.")
That said, EVERYBODY should be condemning this piece of crap. This is the equivalent of Essence deciding to put a photo spread of black men getting lynched for "laughs." Don Imus lost his job over stuff far less worse than this and at least gentile Mel Gibson was drunk when he was muttering about Jews. But to make light of the worst catastrophe to happen to your own people? WTF?? I lived in Miami for several years. I had classmates who lost their grandparents, aunts, uncles, and other relatives in the Holocaust. Have the Jewish people failed to educate the Gen Y crowd about recent history?

There was a movie in the 90s…Event Horizon, a minor SciFi flick, but it had an image that has stayed with me…the ship was in orbit around Neptune (or Uranus) and it became entangled with a black hole (or something like that), and the crew went mad…the rescue ship that came, saw the images of the mad crew lost in the hell of the madness, and they had to fight their way out before they too fell beyond the event horizon into the madness…more and more these days I feel like that rescue crew.
It's sad that Roseanne has become so neglectful in her personal grooming habits. That upper lip is a mess.

If this was any other time, Barr would be working in a diner of some interstate. Stevie boy's only connection to movies would be in a movie theater working as an usher. He could never run with Ford, Curtiz, Walsh, Huston, and if these people had the resources that Stevearino had one can only imagine where they would be in their age or even our age. The one thing is certain that the old masters would never attack their country or be part of anything that has had this complete lack of respect for all those innocent people who were murdered in the Holocaust. The last good movie Spielberg direct4ed was Saving Private Ryan. He should just quit working at this point. And we liberals can say what they want about Coulter or Beck, but they have Barr, Garafalo, and Maher on their side. We win. Easy.

I also think this magazine is dispicable…but here's something to consider next time you watch "Saving Private Ryan."
Basically, the film is book-ended by scenes of the elderly Private Ryan at the cemetary.
However, the way Spielberg segues from the opening scene of the elderly Private Ryan at the cemetary, to WW2, is via the use of a FLASHBACK.
…BUT since Private Ryan was not 'present' for most of all of that action, it therefore cannot be presented as a flashback thru the eyes of Private Ryan—he wasn't there !
That's a pretty amazing flaw by the director whom is supposed to be the master of the language of film.
Legendary screenwriter William Goldman first made this point in a stinging essay for Premiere magazine, just prior to the Oscars in March 1999 (when the film was up for several Oscars).

"Munich" was a lie from beginning to end. Note what they don´t tell you, for example, the fact that the massacre was not a bolt out of the blue but only the latest in an ongoing and highly successful terror campaign. I know my history and that context wasn´t missing by accident.
And putting the massacre itself at the end of the movie after we have been bludgeoned with gory scenes of jewish "revenge" against nice elderly gentlemen (is there another kind of arab terrorist?) intentionally turns everything on its head. Spielberg is one of the best directors, technically, but he is a coweard and definitely not an intellectual. Whether he is a Jew I am not sure.
I think there is a misunderstanding about who is jewish. I´m no expert on Judaism but it is a religion, right? An Irishman or Chinese could become a Jew if he believed in it. The racial definition was used by the Nazis. No matter if your grandparents had converted to Protestantism, according to the racial definiton you were nevertheless a Jew or "Half Jew" or "Quarter Jew". Now, if I reject the definition based on blood, then most "Jews" in Hollywood are probably not jewish in any meaningful sense of the word even if they think they do. What do you think?

I disagree that Spielberg is a good director. He's too UNSUBTLE to be a good director. "Schindler's List" was good because of Neeson and the story, not because of Spielberg. Any other director probably would have done it just as well or better and wouldn't have felt the need to make his point with a sledge hammer. So far as "ET", I was rooting for the Feds to gut that insufferable little reptile. And while they were at it, Drew Barrymore, too. "Indiana Jones" (I know this is heresy but…) stretched belief to the point of boredom. "Close Encounters"? Who knew what that was about except about 3 hours long. "Jaws" would have been better had he not used a plastic shark. Other than "The Color Purple", I can't think of a Spielberg film that wasn't just plain dumb. Bankrolling this hideous magazine fits.

You need to work a little on your biblical history. Pilate was the Roman Governor of Judea and as such the only one with the power to execute criminals under Roman law. He desired to release Christ but was shouted down by the (j*wish) crowd and was forced to carry out the execution under extreme pressure from the J*wish religious leadership, who had set up the whole trial in the first place.
So, yes, the execution was carried out by Roman soldiers. It was orchestrated by the religious leadership of the J*ws.

I know in history outside the Bible that Herod killed hundreds of people. He had some desease that put him in a lot of pain and was not right in his mind. The people of first century Jeresuleam loathed him at the end for that very reason. The Romans did not care how many of his own people he killed just so lon as he maintained order and kept the tax revenues flowing. So for him not to execute Him was significant.

The whole point of the Producers was that in order to ensure that the musical would fail miserably thereby supporting their fraudulent scheme they labeled it "Springtime for Hitler". The idea was in going to the obviously "gay" joke director to ruin it but he had inner talent waitng to come out he was able to turn that monstrous theme into a "Hit" anyways.
The whole point of the movie was that the Producers ended up failing even when their goal was to fail because they would make a movie about Hitler singing in the Spring. (KArma) This to my mind has nothing to do with dressng up like Hitler putting people in ovens for a picture. One had a moral the other is just Roseanne trying to be shcking because she hasn't had a gig in 10 years.

OK first the musical Springtime for Hitler wasw never made. The idea of the musical was a plot device in the musical "The Producers" which I must say by your reaction I wonder if you have ever seen. The most controversial part of that musical (given the year it came out) was the admission to the homosexuality found in the Theater. This was well before the 90's opening up of that issue.
That said in order for your take to be correct I should find something other than Hitler nd the Holocoast in Roseane's picture. There is nothing esle. Second even the Producers did not ever mention the Holocaust. The Joke was that Hitler was prancing around singing about theglory of the fatherland like a Bing Crosby Christmas musical. In the play it was stated that the purpose for the musical was that it would be so terrible and outrageous that it would tank. This is not the same thing at all. Have you even seen the film? Seriously!

Individualist, your history is very bad. Herod the Great, the one you are describing, died in 4 B.C. not too long after Jesus was born. The Herod described during the New Testament was his son known as Antipater. It also becomes obvious in the New Testament that the Jewish authorities were not afraid of kill because they tried unofficially at least twice; once over a cliff and another time in the Temple where they became afraid of the people. The Romans became a convenient outlet to kill Jesus without looking like they were responsible. By the way, the idea that the Jews were not allowed the death penalty is unsubstantiated.

Well then you have a problem with the History channel and not I since that is the source. Since there is no other documented listing of Jesus except the Bible trying to tie down the exact dates to a story that has been modified over the years and not written down until the 2nd centruy AD is quite frankly a little silly don't you think. However since the History Channel mentioned John the Baptist I assuming they meant Herod Antipater. Are hyou suggesting only one ancient dictator actually executed people.
The Bible is anti Roman period. The people who wrote the story purposely included the Herod line for a reason. Christianity at the time was not just a religion but a rebeliion against the Roman. The 666 is a symbol for Nero. There are numerous references to the Romans. None of this detracts from my point though does it. The whole the J killed Chrt thing is manufactured and kept alive by Christian and Jewish bigots alike for their own reasons. An early Christian who lived there would not have any understanding of the arguments because they are not valid. The Christians were not against the J's. Heck it was not until three centuries later that they decided to be a Christian one did not have to convert to Judaism first. This argument is simply factually wrong.
