Listen closely to the rocket scientist. Bill Maher says ”America is a stupid country” because ”Sarah Palin could be president.” Then when CNN’s Wolf Blitzer argues that America elected Barack Obama, Maher responds, “Look who he was running against.”
Well, he was running against McCain and PALIN. So…
…Americans are stupid because we would vote for Palin, and Americans are stupid because the only reason we voted for Obama was due to the fact he was running against Palin.
Genius.
The video ends there but I’m guessing Blitzer didn’t follow up on that tiny contradiction. What’s the difference between Bigfoot and serious journalism on CNN? People claim to have seen Bigfoot.

He really believes himself to be quite the swashbuckling intellectual doesn't he? So self-important. So relevent. So glad the mere thought of President Sarah Palin gets under his rat skin. Does anyone even watch his Real Slime show? His poopy pants misogynistic ranting is a crushing bore. Knowning that people like him hate people like me makes me smile.

Whether "stupid" or not, Maher really seems like the epitome of a celebutard who's been horribly affected by his fame and making tens of millions of dollars. He used to be hilarious in those earlier HBO specials, when he was kind of modern libertarianish and took shots at both sides; now he's just the classic green-is-my-religion, angry leftist. Is it really hard to imagine how that happened? His last HBO special was nowhere near as funny, with just lots of predictable ranting about Bush, religious people, etc. Sound familiar? Remember when Janeane Garofalo was funny? No, really; she wasn't a bad stand-up years ago! But I bet he would pass a lie detector test and say "No" if you asked him if his politics has changed in last ten years. Kinda awesome (in a terrifyingly hilarious way) the way the Left-Wing Machine of pop culture just sucks the funny right out of you.
Maher's brain power is not in question. His judgment is. Why does he believe the drivel he believes? Why hasn't he caught on, grown up – at least enough to know that you're doing no good by being a condescending, sneering p***k. He's not funny, and that's supposed to be his gig. It surely isn't being a political pundit, the way he thinks of himself.
Well, some Americans are stupid or (at least they "acted stupidly" when they elevated Pimp Daddy Barack into the Oval Office.)
Bill Maher's honesty is proof of the fundamental changes the left wish to inflict on the US. While I consider his fans lost causes, it surprises me to know that people who dislike him still support the destructive ideals he pushes. Perhaps when the teleprompter turns off and the planted, softball questions in the audience start backfiring (as the Gates/Crowley incident is proving) then the country as a whole will see the true face of President Obama.
I think you've hit the nail on the head. There's only so funny a person can be when they're so filled with bile, anger, arrogance and naked hatred on a daily basis. They don't really injure those they mock; they just harden their own hearts and descend into bitterness. So much God-given potential, gone to waste.

You may be onto something. I think what we were in high school in large measure defines our adult lives for good or ill. Even though Maher is banging Hef's leftovers, he must know deep down inside that they're laughing at him behind his back.

Jeanine Garafolo broke my heart, because I thought she was one of the premier comedians of our time. I am totally serious. I would laugh out loud and regurgitate her lines all the time. And I remember when Bill Maher was really hilarious too. I hate to say it, but once in a while both of them nail a line and I laugh, but it has to be off political topic. It freaks me out that they could see these issues threw such a different lense than me, yet I am sympatico with them on so many other topics. I just wish they could be hilarious and cool again!
Schlussel is a bomb thrower.

Mahrer's problem is that he was beaten up a lot as a kid in school and when he got to high school he never got laid. So now he is taking it out on America because he was turned down by every girl he met. Now he is a big star and uses women like doormats, but he loves his porno. I bet you he is a chronic masturbator.
Typical leftist elitism. How long until he suggests that the smart percentage that listen to CNN rule the country on behalf – and no doubt for the benefit – of the stupid Americans? Maher is what passes for an intellectual on the left these days. He does fine on his show or in speaking engagements when he can stack the deck against conservatives in front of a friendly audience. Or, when he makes a documentary to attack religious strawmen. In reality he does not have the intellectual stamina to deal with the real issues in a concrete way. What has he contributed to society? All the left knows how to do is to destory the foundations of our country with ridicule and arrogance that today passes for wit. They have never built anything to take the place of these foundations. Instead, to paraphrase Jeremiah, they have destoryed wells of living water to build cisterns that will not hold water.
Only in a country like America could a little ugly a$$hat like Maher become rich and famous. In any other country he would be doing a mime show or magic tricks for coins on the street. Yes, maybe we are stupid. We let that piece of garbage have a megaphone, didn't we? WE MUST BECOME MORE DISCRIMINATING!
You make a good point, but I'm not so sure that what you are in high school necessarily defines how you'll be as an adult and, if you don't end up being that, then you have "changed your destiny". High school is simply an awkward time for many people. A "phase", so to speak. However, I do think you're right to a certain extent. I was a dork in middle school, but I was able to get over it all. I inwardly forgave the people who'd been jerks to me, and I was able to shrug off the bad times I'd had in middle school and just remember the good times. And some people like Bill Maher, perhaps, just remain bitter and, therefore are never really able to grow up.
Maher is typical of those fabulous "cool hot young sexy smart modern liberals" we always hear so much about. Whereas "conservatives are all old white men" except when they are not.
Bill Maher's only reason for being mean-spirited towards ordinary Americans is to, perhaps, get revenge on people who'd been nasty to him in high school (as Pat McIntyre pointed out that he was a dork in high school, and I can believe that) and to feel better about himself. Because, ultimately, why else do people do such things? They may kid themselves into thinking they have better reasons, but they really don't.

Unless I'm missing something he also called the e-mailers, not the people who watch CNN, stupid. Am I missing something? Were the e-mails not sent real-time by people watching the show? I was visiting a liberal friend recently, and he subjected me to part of Real Time in which they discussed the Sotomayor hearings. All three guests were liberal, including the Kos himself. It was the worst sort of echo chamber liberal thought. I think my favorite part was when Maher described the Republicans as seeming like they were questioning their hispanic maid. "Thou shalt call Republicans racist at any opportunity" seems to be one of the liberal commandments.

I am totally disgusted that my country actually provides a forum (and paycheck) for anti-American a$$h@ls like this. Free speech is one thing but having your own television show where you can spew this nonsense is another. I dropped HBO earlier this year. For years I had enjoyed HBO because their boxing coverage was the best and their original series were well done. Alas, The Sopranos ran its course and they cancelled Deadwood and Carnivale. The boxing coverage was, for too long, Roy Jones Jr. or some other "superstar" versus an overmatched opponent. Finally, one night Bill Maher came on when I was looking for something good to watch.
I realized then that I had kept HBO for a few years in hopes that they'd offer something that I enjoyed again. All while they spit on my values and my tastes. I cancelled HBO that night.
Interesting point. I think that once a comedian gets a following or becomes popular in Hollywood they make a conscious effort to drink the kool-aid. Once that happens they start to think they are more relevant than they really are and that their opinion is more enlightened than it really is.
Maher is a smarmy, venom spewing POS that contributes nothing to anyone except his own ego. Why anyone thinks his thoughts are worth air time is beyond me.
Garafolo just seems to be someone that is desparate to be taken seriously. I used to think she was really cute and funny and had the potential to be a fine actor. Now she's just a bitter, dried up never-was that needs to STFU and go away…..

I made a comment on a web site when Maher was denouncing profit a in business. It was crazy. There were many posts which were "below the threshold" for viewing and when viewing them they all were supporting capitalism in some way. I wrote that it was embarrasing to even discuss the issue with the libs who obvoiusly run the site and of course I was slammed. He has a small group of weirdos who follow him and think he is a god. I felt like I was being gang raped verbally by these loons but I truthfully was baiting them as I knew they would go crazy to hear common sense waich causes them to melt down. I think he's going the way of George Carlin. Now, I'm not comparing the two in terms of talent, but the older Carlin got the meaner and more spiteful his humor got. That reveals something about the man on the inside.

I want Palin for President in 2012 more than ever.
