Megan Fox: Another Nail in the ‘Movie Star’ Coffin
by John NolteThere have been liberal movies stars for as long as there have been movie stars. The list of left-of-center Golden Age-era giants is a mile long. My admiration for an actor has ZERO to do with personal politics, but as Skip Press pointed out in his terrific piece last week, class is a big factor. Many of the greats didn’t share my beliefs, but few ever went out of their way to hurl insults at me and mine, either. Undoubtedly, someone could Google up a statement that contradicts me, but I would argue in return that human beings slip, even big-screen immortals. What can’t be argued is that once upon a time movie stars walked the earth who defined themselves, not with elitist, flame-throwing political rhetoric, but with dignity and class.
Sinatra and Ava for Democrat Adlai Stevenson
Where classic Hollywood mostly held their activism to advocating for their causes, too many of today’s classless breed defines their activism through the hurling of invective at the other side - at 50% of the customers. They do it up on the screen and they do it while hiding behind a Hollywood media-machine owned and operated by sycophants who mostly agree. There’s nothing wrong with passion, humor, disagreement and debate, that’s what Big Hollywood is all about, but ad hominem that dehumanizes is the tactic of a new generation eager to fit in with the A-list.
Today we have “Transformers” star Megan Fox, joining a growing club — spouting this hateful nonsense:
“Transformers” bombshell-cum-uninhibited philosophizer also contemplates — reluctantly — what she would say to Megatron to keep him from destroying the world. “I’d barter with him,” she muses to the July, issue Total Film UK, “and say instead of the entire planet, can you just take out all of the white trash, hillbilly, anti-gay, super bible-beating people in Middle America?”
Any consequence is predictable. Worse case, if it looks like her display of ignorance might become a distraction in the coming “Transformers” hype-machine, Fox will apologize/explain on some venue like the “Tonight Show.” But the bottom line is that there will be no consequence within a community that finds that kind of talk about “those kinds of people” all okey-dokey.
Just for giggles, compare Megan Fox trashing mainstream Middle America with, oh, say, this…
“Well, I think it’s great that Americans are able to choose one or the other. We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage. And you know what, in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised and that’s how I think it should be between a man and a woman. Thank you very much.”
Now, “Transformers” is going to make a ton of money no matter what Megan Fox says, but the fallout from this kind of star-behavior has already done irreparable damage. Today, the definition of what used to define a true movie star is all but dead.
People used to go to the movies to see stars, but with the possible exception of Will Smith, Denzel Washington and Adam Sandler (arguably there are a few others), those days are over. Most stars can’t even guarantee an opening weekend anymore.
The great (and very liberal) Paul Newman
George Clooney couldn’t open a supermarket without the word “Oceans” in the title; the combined firepower of Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr. did “The Soloist” little good; “Duplicity” might have made more money without Julia Roberts, and Harrison Ford’s a flop away from competing with Steven Seagal in the direct-to-video bin. Walk the aisles at Blockbuster and marvel at the familiar faces starring in films no distributor would invest a theatrical release on.
The days of “names” putting butts in seats are over. Today, the star of the movie is the concept. No concept, no profit. Doesn’t matter who’s in it.
Not every actor’s behaved as poorly as the usual suspects, not all of them deserved to lose their firepower, but there have been too many like Megan Fox spoiling it for the rest. And so the movie star has managed to accomplish the one thing capable of causing their own extinction: they’ve deconstructed themselves.
The myth and aura has vanished, and without that all we’re left with is mortals, and way too many unpleasant ones…

I for one know that when an actor or actress shoots off his or her mouth and says things like Megan Fox did regarding KILLING hic white, hillybilly, pro-life, Bible thumping Christians, I tend to want to save my money to give to more deserving people–say the USO or some group like that. I don't mind a healthy difference of opinion but there have been some extreme things said recently about death, or jail time, or whatever for conservatives/Republicans/Christians. The motivation to pay their salaries just so they can have a platform to wield oblique insults at me diminishes with every ugly epithet the hurl my direction. So Transformers 1? Not gonna buy it. Transformers 2? Not gonna see it. I've got more important things to do with my time and money.
Megan who? Oh yeah, the future contestant of a lame reality show (I'm a Celebrity Apprentice of Love, maybe).
A pretty shell.
An empty shell.
Bitter indictment!
Could George Clooney open a supermaket WITH the word "Oceans" in it? pffttt…
John – you missed the obvious corollary – Ferrell's continual decline at the box office since he decided to incessantly hammer away at W on the advice of that ass-clown Adam McKay. It's no accident that the more overt he became, the faster his decline. Once people realized Talledega was making fun of the Nascar audience and not fun with them, his numbers have dumped out.
Another great example are the Gyllenhaals. Maggie opened her mouth up about Iraq years ago and Jake did it for Global Warming. You can Powerpoint a chart to show the perpetual decline they've taken.
I have my original G1 Transformers cartoon on DVD. Why do I care about the current Transformers films? Megan Who? Her comments will make certain I stay away from the Transformers films. I hate CGI spliced in with real actors anyway.
Megan Fox would probably be stunned to discover that there are reasonable, thoughtful people who would find her remark to be controversial in any way. I’m sure that she opened her mouth only to express what she takes to be a perfectly respectable, common-sense, mainstream sentiment—a sentiment that is undoubtedly repeated endlessly in the circles in which she travels. And she probably never gave it a second thought.
That’s the really sad part.
You have hit the nail on the head. While once movie stars (and their press agents, et cetera) worked to project a persona both on screen and off, today's celebrities expect to be adored simply for being themselves. Fine, perhaps, if you are an outstanding and interesting individual outside of your acting career. Not so if you are the walking vulgarity that is Megan Fox.
Who cares about Megan Fox anyways. She's not an actress. She's the "Flavor Of The Month"………
Megan Fox I'd like you to meet Lindsey Lohan………………..Buh Bye now, Have fun doing guest spots on VH1…..
The press has been treating Fox like royalty of late … all due to her beauty. But now she opened her mouth and revealed an ugliness to her few might have expected. Expect a non apology apology, or nothing at all.
Who cares what she has to say, everybody is just waiting to see her naked and once she does that she'll be just another skank with a big mouth.
She's a very hot girl, but super-dumb too, and no matter how hot she is someone is tired of her crapola…..
Yeah… but… but…. She's hot.
I don't care that she has no brain. That's to be expected from someone who is that attractive. It's the whole karmic balance in the universe. You can't have super good looks and a brain, manners, class…
But dang, she's hot.
Plus, without her in Transformers, the Shia Lepouf presence is just to nauseating to enjoy big robots fighting.
Its amazing how nowadays ignorant stars will poison the well from which they need to draw their livelihood. Megan, people like you because youre hot and not much else. When you trash 50% of your target audience then perhaps you wont be so surprised when your Q factor starts to plummet because all the hillbillies who used to put down good money to watch you scamper around in short jeans decide they'd rather spend the money on some other hot chick who has the common sense to say thank you for their support..
Wow, she can kiss my scaly green rump.
The money quote for me from the essay:
"Where classic Hollywood mostly held their activism to advocating for their causes, too many of today’s classless breed defines their activism through the hurling of invective at the other side – at 50% of the customers."
Although I can't show it here, John italicized the word "advocating." Although the usage here is a bit redundant, there is a point to be made also by highlighting the key word, "for." The key difference from liberals of the past to those of the present is that their "advocacy" was more literal within its definition. Although we all know Katherine Hepburn was as FDR liberal as she could have been, she knew that people of all persuasions buttered her bread, and she no ill words to those who disagreed.
I liked Megan Fox in Transformers; if only she hadn't opened her mouth outside a film reel.
It's hard for me to get worked up over the comments of a frat party treat. The only award I could ever see her getting would be playing a strung out actress. You know, something original.
Nice post John. My first reaction is to say I'm ashamed she is from Tennessee, but that would be too much like Natalie Mains. Actually, I don't blame just her. After all, at 23 she is clearly a vapid, stupid, infant babe with a hot bod and no talent. I predict she will quickly disappear from the public consciousness. No, whether it is Bruce Paltrow, Megan Fox, Al Franken, or Sean Penn there is a total lack of class involved. I know it is a weakness on my part, but I simply cannot spend my money to put money in their pocket.
Try googling for "megan fox tattoos". I'll see Transformers, but not for her. Is she too stupid to know what her part in Transformers is?
Megan Fox looks and acts like she could suck the chrome off a 53 Buick while it's moving. Who in their right mind gives any credence to these Insipid , Vapid, Zero's. The Old Stars had class, whether they really had it or not is another story, but at least they put up a good front for the public. Then again in those days there was a price to pay Like Ahhhhh…NO CAREER. These Anti- American Ingrates today who all look alike, sometimes I can't tell the men from the women, have broken their shovels in my book. So I'll just keep my money where it belongs in MY pocket not THEIRS.
Who cares what Megan Fox says???
I read that she was being a pain in the behind on the set, and Michael Bay basically told her "look … your only job here is to stand there and look hot — so do it."
The first Transformers film was incredible, and I can't wait for this one.
Megan Fox … whatever.
Without the incessant Megan Fox hype we've been subjected to recently, she'd be a nobody with too many tattoos and not enough sense.
BF_Huckabee: The Kinky Conservative
In Chicago where politics are another form of entertainment, a Democrat tried to get basketball great Michael Jordan to endorse him. Jordan replied that "Republicans buy shoes, too." Although a great many politicans from both parties courted him, Jordan's opinions about all things political were not for public consumption. I think that greatly contributed to his charisma on and off the court.
I still wouldn't miss Transformers 2 for the world. I just hope Ms. Fox uses this as a learning experience. And I hope she realizes she's not that important in the grand scheme of things (Transformers or otherwise).
Now if you tell me she has a well-mannered twin sister who's a model-slash-rocket scientist, then we'll have something.
6/9/09 – A negative comment rating. First time for everything.
Hmm…
She also called men "pathetic, ridiculous, retards" and "weak like puppies" imagine if a male star had said such a thing about women. Amazing such an ugly mind can be in such a beautiful body.
Isn' the one that thinks she is ugly and should have been a man? In either case, who cares we all know everyone in hollywood is a bigot, liar.
Another Hollywood dumdum? Shocking! Megan Fox is just a small step away from the pole. I do everything I can not to spend any money rewarding these idiots. Thanks for outing your stupid self Megan. Keep up with the foolish statements Moron Fox – pure comedy. Enjoy that career with Vivid Adult Entertainment you seem to be gunning for!
I agree…
…but whenever a celebrity seems to advocate for something today, the biggest example being the environment/stopping global warming/etc., it seems there are still plenty of people who pounce on them, whether they badmouth the other side or not. "They're an actor! They're paid to entertain, nothing more!" and so on and so forth.
At least that's the way I perceive it. I could be wrong. And I suppose with the Internet and the 24-hour news media, their hypocrisies become much more obvious.
"You can't have super good looks and a brain, manners, class… "
Angie freakin Harmon
nuff said…..
You might be ahead of your time.
Didn't she already do that in How to Lose Friends & Alienate People?
I hadn't heard of Megan Fox until the text answering service I worked for started get the question, almost daily, "Did Megan Fox use to be a man?"
I was thinking of that Michael Jordon comment. I guess these bubble heads, like Fox, think the money thing will go on forever. Her 15 minutes will be over pretty soon. I hope an atomic bomb never hits LA. What would we do without the center of the genius universe if it did?
Hmm…. I didn't know there were "white trash, hillbilly, anti-gay, super bible-beating people" in Honduras or Guatemala… That girl is dumber than a box of rocks and should probably go back to 6th Grade Geography class….
Bruce Paltrow doesn't mouth off much anymore.
Just for this I'm not going to let Megan Fox sleep with me! See if she can deal with that.
This coming from someone who is paid to portray someone else in front of the camera? Another Hollywood no talent hack spouting off. Like anyone really cares what you think. sweetie.
Good on ya, Megan! You go on and keep making Australia proud.
Next up, celebrity rehab for this no talent "flavor of the month" bimbo.
Here's something I'd like to see someone more informed on Hollywood than I discuss. Isn't it (loosely speaking) the case that actors and actresses even going back to the days of silent film have generally been self-destructive freaks and weirdos? Even the lives of silent movies “sex” symbols like Clara Bow and Mabel Normand and Mary Pickford are full of stories about pill-popping and boozing and adultery. I think the difference between then and now is that fact that the studios heads (the actors and actresses “bosses” so to speak) made d**m sure that their goofball employees kept their pieholes shut so as not to turn off the movie-going public. I see the problem less as one of an actress being an airheaded offensive loud-mouth – most of them have always been that way – and more of a lack of adult supervision coming from their studio employers.
You might be on to something. The old studio system did have its advantages and that was one of them. If I were Bruckheimer or Bay, I'd give her a good scolding.
Of course, they're not all self-destructive freaks – just the ones who get noticed.
What she said is what most Hollywood 'talent' and 'players' believe.
She won't get any heat from this. Penn, Clooney, Damon, etc. have all said a lot worse than this.
She has probably never heard a differing viewpoint anywhere she's been.
Who is Megan Fox and why do we care?
Some of the most agonizing times of my professional life were when I had to endure celebrities expounding on their political beliefs during promotional movie junkets. Personally, I never asked them questions along those lines, but unfortunately, too many of my colleagues did.
Most of the time, like when an actress is as inexperienced as Megan Fox, it's laughable. I'd literally laugh and shake my head. At times it got more surreal, like when Spielberg and Tom Cruise told me "Minority Report is already happening" thanks to enhanced security at airports — as if this was a bad thing after 9-11.
In that case, I'd just get pissed, because when was the last time either of them flew commercial?!
Either way, you have to consider the source; most celebs barely got out of high school, and can only spout what the liberal talking points du jour are. In Megan Fox's case, Michael Bay probably called her up and verbally beat the spit out of her, as no director — let alone one with a 200 million dollar movie about to drop — can write off "Middle America."
check out <a href="http://www.therexreport.com!” target=”_blank”>www.therexreport.com!
Actually, Megan Fox could take some advice from her co-star Shia LaBeof. Last year, during an interview that I read in EW, he was asked who he was supporting in the upcoming election. He stated: Obama. However, he said, and I paraphrase, that was as far as anyone was going to get in terms of his political opinion or views. He did not believe it was proper for an actor to spout off as so many other actors did and he actually wished that his fellow actors would keep their mouths shut.
And he's in his early 20s and HE GETS IT! Just for that, despite his support for The One, I still like him and still think he's a good young actor that, for the most part, has a good head on his shoulders.
Megan Fox, shoulda known she was nothing more than a skank.
I have a suggestion for Big Hollywood: could you include an address for such as this Megan Fox, so that interested people could communicate their opinions back at them?
I saw the Outlander. Quite a good move, very great looking Alien, evil Dragon, and lots of hairy Vikings… what is not to like? Well, then, why or why did the writer/director (Howard McCain), and the other writer (Dirk Blackman) include a completely gratuitous dirty pathetic Christian Monk in the story? First, the story took place in 709, at least a hundred and fifty years before any Christianization of Norway occurred. The Christian Monk had NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PLOT!!!. NADA.
So, I would like to communicate with these writers/directors, and tell them that I at least noticed this gratuitous slam at Christianity. I am a civilized person, and would be polite. But, I do not think such slams should go unnoticed or unremarked.
Perhaps, but for the life of me, I can't think of an example. Maybe Tom Hanks, but he even got caught up recently in all the frenzy for Angels and Demons and he stepped out of his comfort zone with Ronny Howard.
[...] Oh, and does anyone else think that Fox calling someone else white trash is like the pot calling the kettle black? Any consequence is predictable. Worse case, if it looks like her display of ignorance might become a distraction in the coming “Transformers” hype-machine, Fox will apologize/explain on some venue like the “Tonight Show.” But the bottom line is that there will be no consequence within a community that finds that kind of talk about “those kinds of people” all okey-dokey. (H/T- Big Hollywood) [...]
I am making a big generalization, but possible the part of the brain that allows actors to do so well in a fantasy land, limits their ability to see things as they truly are. If society didn't put such relevance on them, they would truly be just useful idiots, but then we let them vote…
So, wait… DID Megan Fox use to be a man?
Dorian Gray anyone? Why is anyone shocked when the curtain gets pulled back? Beauty means nothing.
Don't buy movie tickets till they hit the dollar theater. Don't rent DVDs until they're going for $0.99 to $1.99. Better still read a good book.
Okay, we all need to get together a make a kickass movie with a kickass concept in which a multicultural cast of Christians and Jews and conservatives and midwestern/southerners save the planet.
So true. . . so true.
I feel the same way about that ugly fat chick that plays Ugly Brtty. She got up in one of the self-award shows and started talking trash about the President of the United States. It doesn't matter if I agree with the President or not, to trash him is to disrespect the office. I immediately quit watching Ugly Betty.
Anyway, it was a knockoff of a really funny show originally aired on Spanish TV, and not nearly as funny as the original.
1 Point to Hank Scorpio………..
I'm not interested in seeing her naked. She's a walking billboard. She's got a story tattooed down her side! She said, "Every time I get a tattoo, it's a f— you to those who don't like them!" Um, yeah. You're really breaking my heart. If I were a casting director, I would refuse to cast her in anything that required showing any part of her body below her neck. If we have to put makeup over it, forget it.
Transformers was a rancid piece of crap anyway. No way would I see the sequel after suffering through the first one (for free on TV, thank God).
Is it any wonder that they look to the foreign makets to make their money anymore? When they insult at least half their market in this country, they can't expect to do very well at the box office.
Also haven't you noticed that a lot of the so-called actors and actresses we get anymore can't act very well. There are some that can, but many aren't very good.
Outlander? I thought that was an old sci-fi movie with Sean Connery.
I smell a "Penthouse" spread coming for her!
That line sounds kinda gross?
Well with a mouth like hers I suspect the rest stinks too………….
Look forward to seeing Megan Fox as a future C-lister on "I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!"
I try not to comment on Hollywood but, I do not understand anyone giving money to someone who will take it and use it against you. It makes no sense to me. I have not been in a theater since the green mile and I do not for see it happening in the near future. I know there are a few out there that might fit my criteria for watching but, it is easier to not give them my money. To me, it's not much different than donating to the Democratic party.
Have you ever seen her and Michael J. Fox in the same room? Something to contemplate.
(I know it makes little sense, but I'm hopped up on Bayer and pure sugar Dr Pepper
)
Wow, they should pay me to work in the industry huh? Let's see…
1. Kiss current popular actor's ass and write movie specifically for them (or better yet, do a remake and change it to make it fit a liberal agenda)
2. Sucker some producers by telling them who is "starring" in it, call it "edgy" or "must see movie of the year"
3. Try to get it in Cannes
4. Complain that piracy is the reason ticket sales were so low
5. Raise ticket prices to combat low ticket sales
Or wheeled out of the Hard Rock Hotel under a sheet on a gurney…
Jordan was great like that! Everytime Daley was up for re-election he would crawl out from under his rock and have himself surgically implanted in Mike's A**. Jordan never fell for it and always remained neutral. He knew were his "Bread was Buttered" and did not want to alienate fans! Because Jordan was such a great player and a class act off court he will be remembered forever.
Megan Fox won't be remembered next year………………….
Well said, Mr. Nolte. Well said.
The only reason why Megan Fox is working is because Lindsey Lohan can't keep her life in order. Its a shame too because Lindsey is much more talented than Megan.
Enjoyed the first movie. After that twit's comment, I'll spend my money elsewhere.
I think this is her with someone she does admire (Office)………
http://www.celebslap.com/wp-content/photos…_MTV...
She used to look like this. I guess she is going the Pamela Anderson route
http://www.celebs101.com/wallpapers/Megan_…gan_...
She's from Tennessee? My, her parents must be proud there in middle America. Must be a real joy trying to look their friends in the eye down at the Walmart. I guess she doesn't care about their feelings – in fact, I expect hurting their feelings is what this is really all about. Lovely child, she must have forgotten that us Southerners assume that trash is raised by trash.
Do you rent? I only ask because if you don't at least try to see the good stuff (or at least the movies Mr. Nolte recommends), then all that will be left is the bad stuff. One actress alone can't ruin a movie, especially with pro-US Bay and Bruckheimer and Shia who at least seems to have a good head on his shoulders.
If a movie fits your criteria or the lead actor/director/whatever is conservative and/or Republican, I say go for it. There is nothing to be gained by ignoring all of it. That's just me.
Oh my, yet another Hollywood starlet is saying something incredibly stupid. Color me surprised.
Thank you, Mr. Scorpion.
Couldn't have said it better.
You know, there should be a future BH article about foreign sales and how that affects what movies are made. It's not all politics; there could be other factors at work here.
When actors make hateful comments about a large percentage of the people who pay to see their movies, which usually seems to include me, it makes it impossible for me to watch them in a movie without thinking about their hateful comments. Why should I pay to see a movie when the actors in the movie clearly hate me? I think I'll keep my money, thank you very much. It's one thing to take a political position, I don't have a problem with that. I have a problem with actors who would be perfectly happy to have a robot kill me and most of my neighbors, or who refer to me as "un-American", or any of the other hateful comments that have been made recently by actors. I predict there will be a continued decline in movie ticket sales, and actors have no one to blame but themselves.
We need to keep saying these things, John. They resonate with people because they know it's true.
Fact it, had Jamie Foxx not opened his big fat mouth and said Miley Cyrus should do a sex tape and drugs, on his radio show, for which he hurriedly went on the Tonight Show to apologize for, a lot more people would have seen The Soloist. I know I purposely did not see it because of his nasty outburst, and I'm a big fan of his and Downey's. Contrast Downey – he cleaned up his act, is a family man, a conservative I believe, and had his biggest hit with Iron Man, which was a great performance.
If more Hollywood stars put it together – (1) Do not purposely piss off half the audience, so (2) I'll have a longer, more fulfilling career – they'd have a much better life and so would all of us.
Anyone can speak an opinion, but when they get very nasty – evil if you ask me – like Megan Muddlehead, it's just self-destruction. And I could care less how pretty she looks on the outside. She's revealed what's inside, and it's very very ugly.
I just can't understand the level of egotism which would drive someone to think that they are something special because they can read lines written by someone else.
I never found her that attractive myself; but then I prefer women who wouldn't blow away if I should happen to sneeze in their presence.
Brilliant column, John. It seems kind of obvious once you realize it, but it had escaped me until you explained it that, yeah, what these stars have really done is destroy their own gig by bringing themselves down to the level of Joe Idiot on the street. They no longer have any special mystique or aura about them. They're revealed as simply people just like any other people, and far less than most. They've committed professional suicide…and for what?
Thanks for that very informative insight.
I have noticed that they can't act:
Julia Roberts(wrinkle forehead and cry)
Brad "Benjamin Buttons" Pitt
Keira Knightly (pouty-puss horsey face)
Goldy Hawn's daughter
well, I could go on…I was having fun…
Mind if I ask you a few questions?
1. Re: Jamie Foxx, is there a statute of limitations? I mean, will you refuse to see his next film, too?
2. Okay, you didn't see The Soloist because of Foxx – I get that – but what about Downey and the other actors, many of whom aren't as famous and need the exposure and the paycheck? Why should he/they suffer?
3. If you insist on reporting every time an actor says something stupid, you'll drive yourself crazy. At least do some more reporting on the actors who are doing good, like Colbert who's doing a USO show right now.
I hope this comment didn't come off as combative or anything. I'm just curious.
I guess it's just a good reason to not give her my money… :/
There should be a sign in Hollywood: Do not feed the Stupid Actors.
I'm amazed the studios hire people like Megan Fox. Like Christian Bale, she has some weighty negatives that distract from the magic of the movies. She's obviously a high maintenance mouth attached to an uninformed, uneducated bad attitude. Maybe that kind of 'edgy' personality is what Hollywood thinks is kewl. As is true with all of her ilk she will eliminate herself eventually. If not through her loose lips then through her tatoos. She's reportedly wanting to get 'a sleeve' and if that doesn't relegate her to women's prison movies then nothing will. Most people tire of extremists eventually and a lot of her goes a long way.
Micheal Bay loves middle america and the troops i bet she'll get chewed out. He'll likely say you know megan that ummm transformers was a blockbuster due to middle america and your putting a dent in the marketing to middle america. So please megan just shut up you sound stupid anyway but he wouldn't actully say that but you know. Marketing is big thing and Megan fox is not helping with by mouthing off
As ignorant as the comment is, Fox is really just a product of her environment. Hollywood is all about group-think and I'm sure when Fox spews comments like this there's someone right there to give her a high-five. Like other people have mentioned, it's mind boggling that so many Hollywood stars don't take into account how many people they're offending. I'm still irate that Julia Roberts said that I, as a Republican, was between reptile and repugnant in the dictionary. I haven't seen a single movie she's made since she made that comment– and given her current marketability I bet I'm not the only one. Usually I can separate a celebrity with the stupid things they say– but there's always a breaking point.
I have never rented a DVD, maybe a VHS years ago and I do know I rented a few Beta-Max. But, that's just me.
Megan Fox suffers from the two very destructive syndromes, first is the hot chick syndrome, any girl who looks like her guys tend to agree with the vapid drivel she says because well she's hot . The second is the celebrity syndrome, the main difference is you don't have to be a hot chick, and have paid staff to agree with you all the time which reinforces the belief that anything you say is important. For someone like Megan Fox both of these will come to a screeching halt around her late twenties. Why? That's when enough hot and younger starlets have flooded in after her and her looks are beginning to give way. At that point there is no incentive for a guy to let her run her mouth and that's when she gets her first STFU. Oh what a moment it will be.
The late Bruce Paltrow was included because I remembered an earlier post by Dwight Schultz (A-Team) which gave some examples of just how horribly classless the man was. Of course there is always his lovely daughter, Lady Gwyneth, to carry on the tradition. She is almost as vapid and ignorant as Megan Fox. (I remember how she paid big bucks for a gas mask during the anthrax scare.)
It's really true: Stars just aren't as bright as they used to be. This Megan Fox chickie seems to be of especially low magnitude. Very dim indeed.
I take great offense at what she said….It was like she was reading my pedigree…..LOL.
Oh and by the way I don't hate GAY people, just there lifestyle………..
It is basically their choice and none of my business until they try to force me to accept it………
but that just me, one big conservative HATE monger.
The Savior himself would hate the sin and love the sinner………… even Megan Fox…LOL
Fox and Transformers will not be seeing a penny of my money……………………..
Time to start taking bets how poorly the movie does. This is so laughably stupid… who needs scripts when you have idiots like this?
Now folks please be nice to the woman who is from Tennesse. Why these type of people are those she escaped when she left the trailer park.
Here's the thing…
…presumably you SAW HER in "Transformers," in which case you already KNOW that she's almost hatefully-untalented actress and, honestly, only "hot" in a very conventional and boring way. So, you're only coming around to being annoyed by her now that she's gesturing in directions political? Eh… whatever.
Maybe it's just me. She's a lousy actress and helped Michael Bay ruin Transformers, so she could vanish from the scene tommorow and I wouldn't give a damn. I could care less what she thinks about issues.
My feelings are hurt. She offended me. I think she's close to committing a hate crime. Is this what our world is coming to? Defeat the blabbering left,to hell with PC speech. Lets call it like we see it and for what it is. The left is juvenile, when we get back in power, and believe me there is anger out there, spanking will be in vogue. Then they can go crying to their (PC) significant other.
It's kinda crude, but I think the phrase your looking for is "Don't s**t where you eat"………..
Two words for Megan Fox — Pamela Anderson. Even though Anderson is a BID (Bimbo in Decline), she at least had some charisma in her day – 20 years ago. Fox is just an empty shell. In two years, she'll be displaced by the next bimbo in line. Does anybody remember Scarlett Johansson? Although a much better actresss than the wooden Ms. Fox, she's sort of fell off the radar after her "Obama is texting me" episode last year.
Megan Fox is a tattood piglet. I've always kind of assumed that a woman with that many tattoos (a sign of conformity, not rebellion as she may think), sort of smells, you know, down there. Oink, oink!
BTW, isn't Megan Fox one of those hillbillies from Tennessee?
Glad I'm not alone—I did the same thing. And when Estee Lauder signed Paltrow to be their spokesmodel, I stopped buying their goods—as did a number of my friends. As hard-working conservatives, we actually have the money to buy their stuff, so someone should remind them of the "don't s*#t where you eat" line.
Great start to that list! I agree completely—how Kate Hudson keeps getting work amazes me; if I want to see Goldie Hawn stick done right, I watch an old Goldie Hawn movie. Overboard was on cable today, and as bad as that was, it is better than anything I have seen Katie in.
I would add:
Clooney
Colin Farrell
Anne Hathaway
Idiot girl. She had a future.. now she is history. Poor management by her people. See ya Megan.
StlDan,
I borrow DVDs from the library; it's free, and I can keep up to date with the films and satisfy my children's curiousity. I refuse to take them to the theatre….and they don't mind.
Someone has to make Heather Graham less lonely; caught an interview this week where she spoke with pride over the fact that her parents were embarrassed by Boogie Nights…..part of the Madonna school of 'getting back at Daddy for not loving me the way I demanded that he do."
Skip—I think that this is an area where the old studio bosses, back when they had the power, used their power correctly—they controlled the message. Yes, it is a shame that Rock Hudson had a fake wife, and that others lost their careers to keep the lid on Rock's sexual preference, but the studios also made sure the stars knew the rules—#1, don't alienate the audience.
youi are thinking of "Highlander." Outlander has the guy who played Jesus in Mel Gibson's movie.
I'm not going to try and answer for Skip, but let me ask you a question, Scott (in a non-combative way).
If your neighbor turns beet red and verbally abuses you every time he sees you, and word gets back to you that he's been out in the community regularly slandering you, or you pick up the local paper and every Friday he's written the editor wishing you and people who believe like you were dead… but his wife and kids are charming… are you going to invite their whole family over for a barbeque?
Another example: if you get lousy service from a mechanic at a particular garage, will you continue to go back because the other mechanics have mouths to feed? If that mechanic starts working at the garage you switched your business to, and there's no evidence he's changed, is there a statute of limitations on your willingness to give the garage owner your money?
We could fill the next several hours with similar illustrations.
While John's article specifically mentions Megan Fox, and Skip mentions Jamie Foxx, the larger point is that for today's actors the standard seems to be more than simple rude behavior. Many are no longer content to have polite-but-animated disagreement, and go far beyond civil discourse to forms of verbal abuse. The callous disregard, the contempt, many actors feel for half their audience needs to stop being rewarded. The most effective way the average fan in that half the audience known as "those people" can have a "say" in a public figure's behavior is to stop spending money on their service. "Class" has to be learned and money is an effective tool toward that end.
