Megan Fox: Another Nail in the ‘Movie Star’ Coffin
by John NolteThere have been liberal movies stars for as long as there have been movie stars. The list of left-of-center Golden Age-era giants is a mile long. My admiration for an actor has ZERO to do with personal politics, but as Skip Press pointed out in his terrific piece last week, class is a big factor. Many of the greats didn’t share my beliefs, but few ever went out of their way to hurl insults at me and mine, either. Undoubtedly, someone could Google up a statement that contradicts me, but I would argue in return that human beings slip, even big-screen immortals. What can’t be argued is that once upon a time movie stars walked the earth who defined themselves, not with elitist, flame-throwing political rhetoric, but with dignity and class.
Sinatra and Ava for Democrat Adlai Stevenson
Where classic Hollywood mostly held their activism to advocating for their causes, too many of today’s classless breed defines their activism through the hurling of invective at the other side - at 50% of the customers. They do it up on the screen and they do it while hiding behind a Hollywood media-machine owned and operated by sycophants who mostly agree. There’s nothing wrong with passion, humor, disagreement and debate, that’s what Big Hollywood is all about, but ad hominem that dehumanizes is the tactic of a new generation eager to fit in with the A-list.
Today we have “Transformers” star Megan Fox, joining a growing club — spouting this hateful nonsense:
“Transformers” bombshell-cum-uninhibited philosophizer also contemplates — reluctantly — what she would say to Megatron to keep him from destroying the world. “I’d barter with him,” she muses to the July, issue Total Film UK, “and say instead of the entire planet, can you just take out all of the white trash, hillbilly, anti-gay, super bible-beating people in Middle America?”
Any consequence is predictable. Worse case, if it looks like her display of ignorance might become a distraction in the coming “Transformers” hype-machine, Fox will apologize/explain on some venue like the “Tonight Show.” But the bottom line is that there will be no consequence within a community that finds that kind of talk about “those kinds of people” all okey-dokey.
Just for giggles, compare Megan Fox trashing mainstream Middle America with, oh, say, this…
“Well, I think it’s great that Americans are able to choose one or the other. We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage. And you know what, in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised and that’s how I think it should be between a man and a woman. Thank you very much.”
Now, “Transformers” is going to make a ton of money no matter what Megan Fox says, but the fallout from this kind of star-behavior has already done irreparable damage. Today, the definition of what used to define a true movie star is all but dead.
People used to go to the movies to see stars, but with the possible exception of Will Smith, Denzel Washington and Adam Sandler (arguably there are a few others), those days are over. Most stars can’t even guarantee an opening weekend anymore.
The great (and very liberal) Paul Newman
George Clooney couldn’t open a supermarket without the word “Oceans” in the title; the combined firepower of Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr. did “The Soloist” little good; “Duplicity” might have made more money without Julia Roberts, and Harrison Ford’s a flop away from competing with Steven Seagal in the direct-to-video bin. Walk the aisles at Blockbuster and marvel at the familiar faces starring in films no distributor would invest a theatrical release on.
The days of “names” putting butts in seats are over. Today, the star of the movie is the concept. No concept, no profit. Doesn’t matter who’s in it.
Not every actor’s behaved as poorly as the usual suspects, not all of them deserved to lose their firepower, but there have been too many like Megan Fox spoiling it for the rest. And so the movie star has managed to accomplish the one thing capable of causing their own extinction: they’ve deconstructed themselves.
The myth and aura has vanished, and without that all we’re left with is mortals, and way too many unpleasant ones…

I for one know that when an actor or actress shoots off his or her mouth and says things like Megan Fox did regarding KILLING hic white, hillybilly, pro-life, Bible thumping Christians, I tend to want to save my money to give to more deserving people–say the USO or some group like that. I don't mind a healthy difference of opinion but there have been some extreme things said recently about death, or jail time, or whatever for conservatives/Republicans/Christians. The motivation to pay their salaries just so they can have a platform to wield oblique insults at me diminishes with every ugly epithet the hurl my direction. So Transformers 1? Not gonna buy it. Transformers 2? Not gonna see it. I've got more important things to do with my time and money.
Megan who? Oh yeah, the future contestant of a lame reality show (I'm a Celebrity Apprentice of Love, maybe).
A pretty shell.
An empty shell.
Bitter indictment!
Could George Clooney open a supermaket WITH the word "Oceans" in it? pffttt…
John – you missed the obvious corollary – Ferrell's continual decline at the box office since he decided to incessantly hammer away at W on the advice of that ass-clown Adam McKay. It's no accident that the more overt he became, the faster his decline. Once people realized Talledega was making fun of the Nascar audience and not fun with them, his numbers have dumped out.
Another great example are the Gyllenhaals. Maggie opened her mouth up about Iraq years ago and Jake did it for Global Warming. You can Powerpoint a chart to show the perpetual decline they've taken.
I have my original G1 Transformers cartoon on DVD. Why do I care about the current Transformers films? Megan Who? Her comments will make certain I stay away from the Transformers films. I hate CGI spliced in with real actors anyway.
Megan Fox would probably be stunned to discover that there are reasonable, thoughtful people who would find her remark to be controversial in any way. I’m sure that she opened her mouth only to express what she takes to be a perfectly respectable, common-sense, mainstream sentiment—a sentiment that is undoubtedly repeated endlessly in the circles in which she travels. And she probably never gave it a second thought.
That’s the really sad part.
You have hit the nail on the head. While once movie stars (and their press agents, et cetera) worked to project a persona both on screen and off, today's celebrities expect to be adored simply for being themselves. Fine, perhaps, if you are an outstanding and interesting individual outside of your acting career. Not so if you are the walking vulgarity that is Megan Fox.
Who cares about Megan Fox anyways. She's not an actress. She's the "Flavor Of The Month"………
Megan Fox I'd like you to meet Lindsey Lohan………………..Buh Bye now, Have fun doing guest spots on VH1…..
The press has been treating Fox like royalty of late … all due to her beauty. But now she opened her mouth and revealed an ugliness to her few might have expected. Expect a non apology apology, or nothing at all.
Who cares what she has to say, everybody is just waiting to see her naked and once she does that she'll be just another skank with a big mouth.
She's a very hot girl, but super-dumb too, and no matter how hot she is someone is tired of her crapola…..
Yeah… but… but…. She's hot.
I don't care that she has no brain. That's to be expected from someone who is that attractive. It's the whole karmic balance in the universe. You can't have super good looks and a brain, manners, class…
But dang, she's hot.
Plus, without her in Transformers, the Shia Lepouf presence is just to nauseating to enjoy big robots fighting.
Its amazing how nowadays ignorant stars will poison the well from which they need to draw their livelihood. Megan, people like you because youre hot and not much else. When you trash 50% of your target audience then perhaps you wont be so surprised when your Q factor starts to plummet because all the hillbillies who used to put down good money to watch you scamper around in short jeans decide they'd rather spend the money on some other hot chick who has the common sense to say thank you for their support..
Wow, she can kiss my scaly green rump.
The money quote for me from the essay:
"Where classic Hollywood mostly held their activism to advocating for their causes, too many of today’s classless breed defines their activism through the hurling of invective at the other side – at 50% of the customers."
Although I can't show it here, John italicized the word "advocating." Although the usage here is a bit redundant, there is a point to be made also by highlighting the key word, "for." The key difference from liberals of the past to those of the present is that their "advocacy" was more literal within its definition. Although we all know Katherine Hepburn was as FDR liberal as she could have been, she knew that people of all persuasions buttered her bread, and she no ill words to those who disagreed.
I liked Megan Fox in Transformers; if only she hadn't opened her mouth outside a film reel.
It's hard for me to get worked up over the comments of a frat party treat. The only award I could ever see her getting would be playing a strung out actress. You know, something original.
Nice post John. My first reaction is to say I'm ashamed she is from Tennessee, but that would be too much like Natalie Mains. Actually, I don't blame just her. After all, at 23 she is clearly a vapid, stupid, infant babe with a hot bod and no talent. I predict she will quickly disappear from the public consciousness. No, whether it is Bruce Paltrow, Megan Fox, Al Franken, or Sean Penn there is a total lack of class involved. I know it is a weakness on my part, but I simply cannot spend my money to put money in their pocket.
Try googling for "megan fox tattoos". I'll see Transformers, but not for her. Is she too stupid to know what her part in Transformers is?
Megan Fox looks and acts like she could suck the chrome off a 53 Buick while it's moving. Who in their right mind gives any credence to these Insipid , Vapid, Zero's. The Old Stars had class, whether they really had it or not is another story, but at least they put up a good front for the public. Then again in those days there was a price to pay Like Ahhhhh…NO CAREER. These Anti- American Ingrates today who all look alike, sometimes I can't tell the men from the women, have broken their shovels in my book. So I'll just keep my money where it belongs in MY pocket not THEIRS.
Who cares what Megan Fox says???
I read that she was being a pain in the behind on the set, and Michael Bay basically told her "look … your only job here is to stand there and look hot — so do it."
The first Transformers film was incredible, and I can't wait for this one.
Megan Fox … whatever.
Without the incessant Megan Fox hype we've been subjected to recently, she'd be a nobody with too many tattoos and not enough sense.
BF_Huckabee: The Kinky Conservative
In Chicago where politics are another form of entertainment, a Democrat tried to get basketball great Michael Jordan to endorse him. Jordan replied that "Republicans buy shoes, too." Although a great many politicans from both parties courted him, Jordan's opinions about all things political were not for public consumption. I think that greatly contributed to his charisma on and off the court.
I still wouldn't miss Transformers 2 for the world. I just hope Ms. Fox uses this as a learning experience. And I hope she realizes she's not that important in the grand scheme of things (Transformers or otherwise).
Now if you tell me she has a well-mannered twin sister who's a model-slash-rocket scientist, then we'll have something.
6/9/09 – A negative comment rating. First time for everything.
Hmm…
She also called men "pathetic, ridiculous, retards" and "weak like puppies" imagine if a male star had said such a thing about women. Amazing such an ugly mind can be in such a beautiful body.
Isn' the one that thinks she is ugly and should have been a man? In either case, who cares we all know everyone in hollywood is a bigot, liar.
Another Hollywood dumdum? Shocking! Megan Fox is just a small step away from the pole. I do everything I can not to spend any money rewarding these idiots. Thanks for outing your stupid self Megan. Keep up with the foolish statements Moron Fox – pure comedy. Enjoy that career with Vivid Adult Entertainment you seem to be gunning for!
I agree…
…but whenever a celebrity seems to advocate for something today, the biggest example being the environment/stopping global warming/etc., it seems there are still plenty of people who pounce on them, whether they badmouth the other side or not. "They're an actor! They're paid to entertain, nothing more!" and so on and so forth.
At least that's the way I perceive it. I could be wrong. And I suppose with the Internet and the 24-hour news media, their hypocrisies become much more obvious.
"You can't have super good looks and a brain, manners, class… "
Angie freakin Harmon
nuff said…..
You might be ahead of your time.
Didn't she already do that in How to Lose Friends & Alienate People?
I hadn't heard of Megan Fox until the text answering service I worked for started get the question, almost daily, "Did Megan Fox use to be a man?"
I was thinking of that Michael Jordon comment. I guess these bubble heads, like Fox, think the money thing will go on forever. Her 15 minutes will be over pretty soon. I hope an atomic bomb never hits LA. What would we do without the center of the genius universe if it did?
Hmm…. I didn't know there were "white trash, hillbilly, anti-gay, super bible-beating people" in Honduras or Guatemala… That girl is dumber than a box of rocks and should probably go back to 6th Grade Geography class….
Bruce Paltrow doesn't mouth off much anymore.
Just for this I'm not going to let Megan Fox sleep with me! See if she can deal with that.
This coming from someone who is paid to portray someone else in front of the camera? Another Hollywood no talent hack spouting off. Like anyone really cares what you think. sweetie.
Good on ya, Megan! You go on and keep making Australia proud.
Next up, celebrity rehab for this no talent "flavor of the month" bimbo.
Here's something I'd like to see someone more informed on Hollywood than I discuss. Isn't it (loosely speaking) the case that actors and actresses even going back to the days of silent film have generally been self-destructive freaks and weirdos? Even the lives of silent movies “sex” symbols like Clara Bow and Mabel Normand and Mary Pickford are full of stories about pill-popping and boozing and adultery. I think the difference between then and now is that fact that the studios heads (the actors and actresses “bosses” so to speak) made d**m sure that their goofball employees kept their pieholes shut so as not to turn off the movie-going public. I see the problem less as one of an actress being an airheaded offensive loud-mouth – most of them have always been that way – and more of a lack of adult supervision coming from their studio employers.
You might be on to something. The old studio system did have its advantages and that was one of them. If I were Bruckheimer or Bay, I'd give her a good scolding.
Of course, they're not all self-destructive freaks – just the ones who get noticed.
What she said is what most Hollywood 'talent' and 'players' believe.
She won't get any heat from this. Penn, Clooney, Damon, etc. have all said a lot worse than this.
She has probably never heard a differing viewpoint anywhere she's been.
Who is Megan Fox and why do we care?
Some of the most agonizing times of my professional life were when I had to endure celebrities expounding on their political beliefs during promotional movie junkets. Personally, I never asked them questions along those lines, but unfortunately, too many of my colleagues did.
Most of the time, like when an actress is as inexperienced as Megan Fox, it's laughable. I'd literally laugh and shake my head. At times it got more surreal, like when Spielberg and Tom Cruise told me "Minority Report is already happening" thanks to enhanced security at airports — as if this was a bad thing after 9-11.
In that case, I'd just get pissed, because when was the last time either of them flew commercial?!
Either way, you have to consider the source; most celebs barely got out of high school, and can only spout what the liberal talking points du jour are. In Megan Fox's case, Michael Bay probably called her up and verbally beat the spit out of her, as no director — let alone one with a 200 million dollar movie about to drop — can write off "Middle America."
check out <a href="http://www.therexreport.com!” target=”_blank”>www.therexreport.com!
Actually, Megan Fox could take some advice from her co-star Shia LaBeof. Last year, during an interview that I read in EW, he was asked who he was supporting in the upcoming election. He stated: Obama. However, he said, and I paraphrase, that was as far as anyone was going to get in terms of his political opinion or views. He did not believe it was proper for an actor to spout off as so many other actors did and he actually wished that his fellow actors would keep their mouths shut.
And he's in his early 20s and HE GETS IT! Just for that, despite his support for The One, I still like him and still think he's a good young actor that, for the most part, has a good head on his shoulders.
Megan Fox, shoulda known she was nothing more than a skank.
I have a suggestion for Big Hollywood: could you include an address for such as this Megan Fox, so that interested people could communicate their opinions back at them?
I saw the Outlander. Quite a good move, very great looking Alien, evil Dragon, and lots of hairy Vikings… what is not to like? Well, then, why or why did the writer/director (Howard McCain), and the other writer (Dirk Blackman) include a completely gratuitous dirty pathetic Christian Monk in the story? First, the story took place in 709, at least a hundred and fifty years before any Christianization of Norway occurred. The Christian Monk had NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PLOT!!!. NADA.
So, I would like to communicate with these writers/directors, and tell them that I at least noticed this gratuitous slam at Christianity. I am a civilized person, and would be polite. But, I do not think such slams should go unnoticed or unremarked.
Perhaps, but for the life of me, I can't think of an example. Maybe Tom Hanks, but he even got caught up recently in all the frenzy for Angels and Demons and he stepped out of his comfort zone with Ronny Howard.
[...] Oh, and does anyone else think that Fox calling someone else white trash is like the pot calling the kettle black? Any consequence is predictable. Worse case, if it looks like her display of ignorance might become a distraction in the coming “Transformers” hype-machine, Fox will apologize/explain on some venue like the “Tonight Show.” But the bottom line is that there will be no consequence within a community that finds that kind of talk about “those kinds of people” all okey-dokey. (H/T- Big Hollywood) [...]
I am making a big generalization, but possible the part of the brain that allows actors to do so well in a fantasy land, limits their ability to see things as they truly are. If society didn't put such relevance on them, they would truly be just useful idiots, but then we let them vote…
So, wait… DID Megan Fox use to be a man?
Dorian Gray anyone? Why is anyone shocked when the curtain gets pulled back? Beauty means nothing.
Don't buy movie tickets till they hit the dollar theater. Don't rent DVDs until they're going for $0.99 to $1.99. Better still read a good book.
Okay, we all need to get together a make a kickass movie with a kickass concept in which a multicultural cast of Christians and Jews and conservatives and midwestern/southerners save the planet.
So true. . . so true.
I feel the same way about that ugly fat chick that plays Ugly Brtty. She got up in one of the self-award shows and started talking trash about the President of the United States. It doesn't matter if I agree with the President or not, to trash him is to disrespect the office. I immediately quit watching Ugly Betty.
Anyway, it was a knockoff of a really funny show originally aired on Spanish TV, and not nearly as funny as the original.
1 Point to Hank Scorpio………..
I'm not interested in seeing her naked. She's a walking billboard. She's got a story tattooed down her side! She said, "Every time I get a tattoo, it's a f— you to those who don't like them!" Um, yeah. You're really breaking my heart. If I were a casting director, I would refuse to cast her in anything that required showing any part of her body below her neck. If we have to put makeup over it, forget it.
Transformers was a rancid piece of crap anyway. No way would I see the sequel after suffering through the first one (for free on TV, thank God).
Is it any wonder that they look to the foreign makets to make their money anymore? When they insult at least half their market in this country, they can't expect to do very well at the box office.
Also haven't you noticed that a lot of the so-called actors and actresses we get anymore can't act very well. There are some that can, but many aren't very good.
Outlander? I thought that was an old sci-fi movie with Sean Connery.
I smell a "Penthouse" spread coming for her!
That line sounds kinda gross?
Well with a mouth like hers I suspect the rest stinks too………….
Look forward to seeing Megan Fox as a future C-lister on "I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!"
I try not to comment on Hollywood but, I do not understand anyone giving money to someone who will take it and use it against you. It makes no sense to me. I have not been in a theater since the green mile and I do not for see it happening in the near future. I know there are a few out there that might fit my criteria for watching but, it is easier to not give them my money. To me, it's not much different than donating to the Democratic party.
Have you ever seen her and Michael J. Fox in the same room? Something to contemplate.
(I know it makes little sense, but I'm hopped up on Bayer and pure sugar Dr Pepper
)
Wow, they should pay me to work in the industry huh? Let's see…
1. Kiss current popular actor's ass and write movie specifically for them (or better yet, do a remake and change it to make it fit a liberal agenda)
2. Sucker some producers by telling them who is "starring" in it, call it "edgy" or "must see movie of the year"
3. Try to get it in Cannes
4. Complain that piracy is the reason ticket sales were so low
5. Raise ticket prices to combat low ticket sales
Or wheeled out of the Hard Rock Hotel under a sheet on a gurney…
Jordan was great like that! Everytime Daley was up for re-election he would crawl out from under his rock and have himself surgically implanted in Mike's A**. Jordan never fell for it and always remained neutral. He knew were his "Bread was Buttered" and did not want to alienate fans! Because Jordan was such a great player and a class act off court he will be remembered forever.
Megan Fox won't be remembered next year………………….
Well said, Mr. Nolte. Well said.
The only reason why Megan Fox is working is because Lindsey Lohan can't keep her life in order. Its a shame too because Lindsey is much more talented than Megan.
Enjoyed the first movie. After that twit's comment, I'll spend my money elsewhere.
I think this is her with someone she does admire (Office)………
http://www.celebslap.com/wp-content/photos…_MTV...
She used to look like this. I guess she is going the Pamela Anderson route
http://www.celebs101.com/wallpapers/Megan_…gan_...
She's from Tennessee? My, her parents must be proud there in middle America. Must be a real joy trying to look their friends in the eye down at the Walmart. I guess she doesn't care about their feelings – in fact, I expect hurting their feelings is what this is really all about. Lovely child, she must have forgotten that us Southerners assume that trash is raised by trash.
Do you rent? I only ask because if you don't at least try to see the good stuff (or at least the movies Mr. Nolte recommends), then all that will be left is the bad stuff. One actress alone can't ruin a movie, especially with pro-US Bay and Bruckheimer and Shia who at least seems to have a good head on his shoulders.
If a movie fits your criteria or the lead actor/director/whatever is conservative and/or Republican, I say go for it. There is nothing to be gained by ignoring all of it. That's just me.
Oh my, yet another Hollywood starlet is saying something incredibly stupid. Color me surprised.
Thank you, Mr. Scorpion.
Couldn't have said it better.
You know, there should be a future BH article about foreign sales and how that affects what movies are made. It's not all politics; there could be other factors at work here.
When actors make hateful comments about a large percentage of the people who pay to see their movies, which usually seems to include me, it makes it impossible for me to watch them in a movie without thinking about their hateful comments. Why should I pay to see a movie when the actors in the movie clearly hate me? I think I'll keep my money, thank you very much. It's one thing to take a political position, I don't have a problem with that. I have a problem with actors who would be perfectly happy to have a robot kill me and most of my neighbors, or who refer to me as "un-American", or any of the other hateful comments that have been made recently by actors. I predict there will be a continued decline in movie ticket sales, and actors have no one to blame but themselves.
We need to keep saying these things, John. They resonate with people because they know it's true.
Fact it, had Jamie Foxx not opened his big fat mouth and said Miley Cyrus should do a sex tape and drugs, on his radio show, for which he hurriedly went on the Tonight Show to apologize for, a lot more people would have seen The Soloist. I know I purposely did not see it because of his nasty outburst, and I'm a big fan of his and Downey's. Contrast Downey – he cleaned up his act, is a family man, a conservative I believe, and had his biggest hit with Iron Man, which was a great performance.
If more Hollywood stars put it together – (1) Do not purposely piss off half the audience, so (2) I'll have a longer, more fulfilling career – they'd have a much better life and so would all of us.
Anyone can speak an opinion, but when they get very nasty – evil if you ask me – like Megan Muddlehead, it's just self-destruction. And I could care less how pretty she looks on the outside. She's revealed what's inside, and it's very very ugly.
I just can't understand the level of egotism which would drive someone to think that they are something special because they can read lines written by someone else.
I never found her that attractive myself; but then I prefer women who wouldn't blow away if I should happen to sneeze in their presence.
Brilliant column, John. It seems kind of obvious once you realize it, but it had escaped me until you explained it that, yeah, what these stars have really done is destroy their own gig by bringing themselves down to the level of Joe Idiot on the street. They no longer have any special mystique or aura about them. They're revealed as simply people just like any other people, and far less than most. They've committed professional suicide…and for what?
Thanks for that very informative insight.
I have noticed that they can't act:
Julia Roberts(wrinkle forehead and cry)
Brad "Benjamin Buttons" Pitt
Keira Knightly (pouty-puss horsey face)
Goldy Hawn's daughter
well, I could go on…I was having fun…
Mind if I ask you a few questions?
1. Re: Jamie Foxx, is there a statute of limitations? I mean, will you refuse to see his next film, too?
2. Okay, you didn't see The Soloist because of Foxx – I get that – but what about Downey and the other actors, many of whom aren't as famous and need the exposure and the paycheck? Why should he/they suffer?
3. If you insist on reporting every time an actor says something stupid, you'll drive yourself crazy. At least do some more reporting on the actors who are doing good, like Colbert who's doing a USO show right now.
I hope this comment didn't come off as combative or anything. I'm just curious.
I guess it's just a good reason to not give her my money… :/
There should be a sign in Hollywood: Do not feed the Stupid Actors.
I'm amazed the studios hire people like Megan Fox. Like Christian Bale, she has some weighty negatives that distract from the magic of the movies. She's obviously a high maintenance mouth attached to an uninformed, uneducated bad attitude. Maybe that kind of 'edgy' personality is what Hollywood thinks is kewl. As is true with all of her ilk she will eliminate herself eventually. If not through her loose lips then through her tatoos. She's reportedly wanting to get 'a sleeve' and if that doesn't relegate her to women's prison movies then nothing will. Most people tire of extremists eventually and a lot of her goes a long way.
Micheal Bay loves middle america and the troops i bet she'll get chewed out. He'll likely say you know megan that ummm transformers was a blockbuster due to middle america and your putting a dent in the marketing to middle america. So please megan just shut up you sound stupid anyway but he wouldn't actully say that but you know. Marketing is big thing and Megan fox is not helping with by mouthing off
As ignorant as the comment is, Fox is really just a product of her environment. Hollywood is all about group-think and I'm sure when Fox spews comments like this there's someone right there to give her a high-five. Like other people have mentioned, it's mind boggling that so many Hollywood stars don't take into account how many people they're offending. I'm still irate that Julia Roberts said that I, as a Republican, was between reptile and repugnant in the dictionary. I haven't seen a single movie she's made since she made that comment– and given her current marketability I bet I'm not the only one. Usually I can separate a celebrity with the stupid things they say– but there's always a breaking point.
I have never rented a DVD, maybe a VHS years ago and I do know I rented a few Beta-Max. But, that's just me.
Megan Fox suffers from the two very destructive syndromes, first is the hot chick syndrome, any girl who looks like her guys tend to agree with the vapid drivel she says because well she's hot . The second is the celebrity syndrome, the main difference is you don't have to be a hot chick, and have paid staff to agree with you all the time which reinforces the belief that anything you say is important. For someone like Megan Fox both of these will come to a screeching halt around her late twenties. Why? That's when enough hot and younger starlets have flooded in after her and her looks are beginning to give way. At that point there is no incentive for a guy to let her run her mouth and that's when she gets her first STFU. Oh what a moment it will be.
The late Bruce Paltrow was included because I remembered an earlier post by Dwight Schultz (A-Team) which gave some examples of just how horribly classless the man was. Of course there is always his lovely daughter, Lady Gwyneth, to carry on the tradition. She is almost as vapid and ignorant as Megan Fox. (I remember how she paid big bucks for a gas mask during the anthrax scare.)
It's really true: Stars just aren't as bright as they used to be. This Megan Fox chickie seems to be of especially low magnitude. Very dim indeed.
I take great offense at what she said….It was like she was reading my pedigree…..LOL.
Oh and by the way I don't hate GAY people, just there lifestyle………..
It is basically their choice and none of my business until they try to force me to accept it………
but that just me, one big conservative HATE monger.
The Savior himself would hate the sin and love the sinner………… even Megan Fox…LOL
Fox and Transformers will not be seeing a penny of my money……………………..
Time to start taking bets how poorly the movie does. This is so laughably stupid… who needs scripts when you have idiots like this?
Now folks please be nice to the woman who is from Tennesse. Why these type of people are those she escaped when she left the trailer park.
Here's the thing…
…presumably you SAW HER in "Transformers," in which case you already KNOW that she's almost hatefully-untalented actress and, honestly, only "hot" in a very conventional and boring way. So, you're only coming around to being annoyed by her now that she's gesturing in directions political? Eh… whatever.
Maybe it's just me. She's a lousy actress and helped Michael Bay ruin Transformers, so she could vanish from the scene tommorow and I wouldn't give a damn. I could care less what she thinks about issues.
My feelings are hurt. She offended me. I think she's close to committing a hate crime. Is this what our world is coming to? Defeat the blabbering left,to hell with PC speech. Lets call it like we see it and for what it is. The left is juvenile, when we get back in power, and believe me there is anger out there, spanking will be in vogue. Then they can go crying to their (PC) significant other.
It's kinda crude, but I think the phrase your looking for is "Don't s**t where you eat"………..
Two words for Megan Fox — Pamela Anderson. Even though Anderson is a BID (Bimbo in Decline), she at least had some charisma in her day – 20 years ago. Fox is just an empty shell. In two years, she'll be displaced by the next bimbo in line. Does anybody remember Scarlett Johansson? Although a much better actresss than the wooden Ms. Fox, she's sort of fell off the radar after her "Obama is texting me" episode last year.
Megan Fox is a tattood piglet. I've always kind of assumed that a woman with that many tattoos (a sign of conformity, not rebellion as she may think), sort of smells, you know, down there. Oink, oink!
BTW, isn't Megan Fox one of those hillbillies from Tennessee?
Glad I'm not alone—I did the same thing. And when Estee Lauder signed Paltrow to be their spokesmodel, I stopped buying their goods—as did a number of my friends. As hard-working conservatives, we actually have the money to buy their stuff, so someone should remind them of the "don't s*#t where you eat" line.
Great start to that list! I agree completely—how Kate Hudson keeps getting work amazes me; if I want to see Goldie Hawn stick done right, I watch an old Goldie Hawn movie. Overboard was on cable today, and as bad as that was, it is better than anything I have seen Katie in.
I would add:
Clooney
Colin Farrell
Anne Hathaway
Idiot girl. She had a future.. now she is history. Poor management by her people. See ya Megan.
StlDan,
I borrow DVDs from the library; it's free, and I can keep up to date with the films and satisfy my children's curiousity. I refuse to take them to the theatre….and they don't mind.
Someone has to make Heather Graham less lonely; caught an interview this week where she spoke with pride over the fact that her parents were embarrassed by Boogie Nights…..part of the Madonna school of 'getting back at Daddy for not loving me the way I demanded that he do."
Skip—I think that this is an area where the old studio bosses, back when they had the power, used their power correctly—they controlled the message. Yes, it is a shame that Rock Hudson had a fake wife, and that others lost their careers to keep the lid on Rock's sexual preference, but the studios also made sure the stars knew the rules—#1, don't alienate the audience.
youi are thinking of "Highlander." Outlander has the guy who played Jesus in Mel Gibson's movie.
I'm not going to try and answer for Skip, but let me ask you a question, Scott (in a non-combative way).
If your neighbor turns beet red and verbally abuses you every time he sees you, and word gets back to you that he's been out in the community regularly slandering you, or you pick up the local paper and every Friday he's written the editor wishing you and people who believe like you were dead… but his wife and kids are charming… are you going to invite their whole family over for a barbeque?
Another example: if you get lousy service from a mechanic at a particular garage, will you continue to go back because the other mechanics have mouths to feed? If that mechanic starts working at the garage you switched your business to, and there's no evidence he's changed, is there a statute of limitations on your willingness to give the garage owner your money?
We could fill the next several hours with similar illustrations.
While John's article specifically mentions Megan Fox, and Skip mentions Jamie Foxx, the larger point is that for today's actors the standard seems to be more than simple rude behavior. Many are no longer content to have polite-but-animated disagreement, and go far beyond civil discourse to forms of verbal abuse. The callous disregard, the contempt, many actors feel for half their audience needs to stop being rewarded. The most effective way the average fan in that half the audience known as "those people" can have a "say" in a public figure's behavior is to stop spending money on their service. "Class" has to be learned and money is an effective tool toward that end.
I did the same with Julia—caught a glimpse of one of the Oceans movies on TV, and the scene had Brad Pitt (?) talking about how hot or beautiful JR's character was—-all I saw was a skinny 40 something broad with an unflattering hairstyle.
So, you are missing nothing, unless you like a two-legged version of Mister Ed.
Maybe it's the fact that this actress — no matter how untalented — has decided to use her 15 minutes of fame to go out of her way and bash on a portion of society unprovoked.
It's like this: "Ok, you have the world's attention right now. What do you want people to know about your movie?"
"MIDDLE-AMERICA-JESUS-FREAKS-RACIST-HILLBILLIES-BLAH-BLAH-BLAH!"
Classy.
She was trying to elevate herself by defaulting to an old liberal prejudice, so she deserves the backlash for being embarrassingly thoughtless.
"Beauty fades, dumb is forever" – Judge Judy, popular daytime television judge
Megan Fox makes Ellie Mae Clampitt look like a hot, sexy Brain Surgeon.
"The days of 'names' putting butts in seats are over. Today, the star of the movie is the concept."
Too bad almost every concept sucks.
Here's a good concept: Make a movie out of http://housetohousebook.com
Or remake "Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein" with Zo and Steven Crowder.
Gold, I tells ya. GOLD!
"The myth and aura has vanished, and without that all we’re left with is mortals, and way too many unpleasant ones…"
The irony is that the last few decades have been about tearing down popular heros (including entertainers and politicians). The movies "exposing" (insert famous golden age actor's name here), the "tell all" books revealing the flaws of successful, popular figures who came to symbolize not only an era, but a way of life (i.e. John Wayne = manliness, patriotism, etc.). The public has always known these people weren't perfect, but allowed them to become icons of what's good about America. People want, even need, heros. The following generation that made an industry out of knocking idols off their pedestals and insisting "America ain't what it's cracked up to be" has in turn produced a generation fulfilling its own awful cynicism.
In a few years after a couple abortions and divorces, Ms. Megan Fox will not be in too many movies. To kick start her career, Ms. Fox will A) begin promoting the U.N. or Avon's create awareness of domestic violence against women campaign; B) start a lesbian relationship; C) adopt an African baby with her a new metrosexual boyfriend; or D) complain on Oprah Show that there are no good roles for women in Hollywood.
Seriously, Auntie? Your oven must be broken from you sticking your head in it one too many times. How come all anti-abortion advocates pulled the trigger that killed Dr. Tiller, but you lefties are completely blameless when Private Long was killed by an anti-war Muslim convert?
I think she is hot when she talks like that because she obviously is being naughty in hopes of receiving a spanking from some strong male hands. The girl just needs a little discipline to bring out the lady within.
Angie Harmon? Love her politics. Her looks? Eh, she's attractive, but she's not what I would consider super good looking. (Please someone give her a cookie, she's so skinny).
To me the demarcation of super hot is where you would almost disregard every word she uttered, because she's so damn attractive.
Namely if Angie Harmon was a generic hollywood liberal, her esteem would drop considerably in these quarters.
Did we ever actually _need_ movie stars? Is the thorough de-mystification of the movie process something to be mourned? The real world meltdowns are far more entertaining than studio managed fictions ever were, IMHO.
Bold words from someone who can thank jean shorts and the leering lens of Michael Bay for her career. She's a less talented, less breasted Angelina Jolie.
Wow! That's harsh don't you think? Come on, one wacko kills another wacko and you come out with that!
I guess than if you can make that stretch, I can make this one.
All Democrats are a bunch of "Child Raping Serial Killers"!
How's that work for ya!
One of your own kind (a Democrat) is one of the countries worst serial killers. Big contributer to the Democratic Party. Helped get a Democrat Mayor elected. He is one of you guy's. So you must all be "Child Killers" right.
We got one whack job!
You get John Wayne Gacy……………………………
Nice avatar, Bet Barry would like that one………………..
Fifteen years from now when the looks are going or gone while the skin decorations and the anger remain, Megan's just going to be a taller Janeane Garofalo.
Okay, 100% serious question:
Why does "Transformers 2" need to have the Sam & Mikaela characters onscreen for more than 10 minutes?
Think about it: The first movie is an origin story to intro the robots, establish their characters, and explain why their conflict is taking place on Earth. Unlike the awful "Aliens vs. Predator" movies, the robots have distinct personalities, voices, etc. and do not need to have human characters trying to figure out the motovations of the alien visitors because unlike in "AvP," the robots in "Transformers" are characters that have dialogue.
Now that the robots' origins are on the table from the 1st movie, the 2nd movie does not require human characters onscreen to 1) raise the bodycount and 2) recite exposition to forward the story. 2nd movie should've been 30 minutes of cameo shots for the actors that didn't die in the 1st movie and 1:30 minutes of crazy robot-fu!
I guess that, for the sake of consistency, you also blame all environmentalists for the homicides pepetrated by the unabomber… remember the worn out copy of Gore's "Earth in the Balance" found in his shack?
Next year she'll be begging to be on Dancing with the stars with her Hobbit finger nails! I will probably see the movie but I will not like when she's on the screen . . . unless she's wearing something skimpy. But as soon as she starts acting as bad as she did in the first movie, I'll dislike her again. She is not an important part to the movie so her arrogance is misguided.
Why can't actors shut their faces and act!!! No offense but when people asked Michael Jordan about politics, he said that he has to sell shoes to Democrats as well as Republicans. Now that is a smart business man. Megan is a flat flash in the pan.
Oh, sorry for the repeat. I just wrote about the same thing! I'm in the south west subs.
Okay, I'm puzzled: Isn't it obvious (to intelligent adults) that
A. paying attention to what is said by Megan Fox (and others in her dime-a-dozen "famous" category) and
B. giving a damn what they say
is a big waste of time and energy??
Living my own life is far more fulfilling than being a full-time spectator.
There's lots of media clamoring for your attention which is best ignored.
So, basically, you just want a CGI cartoon?
Calling Megan Fox a movie star is a stretch. SHe's like Jessica Alba or Raquel Welch, sex symbols and nothing more.
I just watched the new woody allen movie and it's an hour and a half of this type of rant against the backwards mid-west, the nra and marriage. can't wait for john's review.
Well, if it's well done yeah. Wall E opened to a $62 million weekend and had a lifetime box of $534.7 million. Who needs Shia and Meghan when a well crafted non-human story will make this kind of money?
No, I won't refuse to see Jamie's next film, but I did hear exactly what he and his buds said on the radio – the Howard Stern school of nasty – and so he lost me for that movie. But the fact is, none of the other people involved had any control over Jamie's Big Mouf. HE is the one who should think about that stuff, with a movie about to come out. It wasn't like he was making any cogent commentary on anything, or even said "Boy, she's a little ditz, or 'hate her show'." He went off on attempting to degrade her. It's all contextual.
If I reported on every time an actor says something stupid, I'd not be sleeping. I've done plenty of reporting on good things actors do.
The point I made in my article and that John is making here is that these people go out of their way to be nasty against certain people who don't particularly deserve it. They're just spreading lies and bile.
That kind of behavior on their part can be curbed if we speak out and boycott their work. As I said in my article, Jamie Foxx went on the Tonight Show to publicly apologize to Miley because it was damage control with the movie coming out.
I could give you dozens of examples of how actors and others have had to be leaned on this way. Back in the studio days they literally had a "sanity clause" and if an actor violated it they'd be fired. That's why in a Marx Brothers movie Chico is show an contract by Groucho and goes, "You know foola me, there ain't no Sanity Clause." It was an inside joke about studio contracts.
Hehe. It was actually Outland I was thinking of, but Highlander does fit the description!
It also affected the content of movies, Kit. I'm not looking for happy happy 50s blather. I'd just like to see people exercising some respect for the public that makes them rich.
If enough people actually looked at the statistics about what makes the most money, they'd pay more attnetion to content. Look at the receipts for "Up" and other Pixar movies.
And I'm not looking for only family-friendly movies (although they are by far the most popular). I'm just looking for movies and performers that don't look like they were invented by Jerry Springer guests on acid.
Will someone please tell me who the hell Megan Fox is? I already don't like her, and I don't even know who she is.
I now understand why she got so few lines on the TV show "Faith and Hope." Kelly Ripa and Faith Ford are much better actresses.
I must confess I only know of this sad, (however attrractive), creature via quick takes on the gossip shows on my way to more intelligent viewing choices. I assume she is of the Lindsey Lohan type of starlet/actress/publicity seeker who might have a modest amount of talent but instead of finding a mentor/teacher /coach who could actually build on said modest talent they waste what they've been given . What results from this is that a career that could be an example of hard work and perseverence is a laughing stock and cannon fodder for the tabloids. Obviously, she is not the first, nor will she be the last . More disturbing from my view as a teacher is that kids her age and younger take note of what is said and , when there is no correction ,condemnation or apology issued, there is confusion about what is acceptable and what should be rightfully rejected.
To each his own, I guess…Transformers 1 was plenty for me. Five minutes of robots punching each other was plenty. I didn't think the story was well crafted compared to Wall-E though.
This is an excellent point to make. And it does go both ways. Alienating half of your audience or half your market is something only has-beens can really afford to do.
Jake is doing Reece Witherspoon so his decline isn't all bad
Just another name added to the list of actors I won't pay money to see. The list is getting very long and there are a lot of movies I and my family are not seeing.
Trust me you are not missing anything. She's one of those twenty something girls Hollywood is always trying to pawn off on us as the next big thing. She is extremely overated as far as her looks go, and her acting skills are………..Well let's just put it this way, Think Demi Moore 20 yrs ago, but dumber and with "worse" acting skills.
That about sums her up
I didn't know Megan Fox could talk.
Megan Fox is who? I really dont know and not really caring either..Ive seen better women sleeping it off in doorways in midtown.
Dance monkey, dance.
Enough with the politics, entertain us or get the hell out of my living room.
Fox also blasted the environmentally conscious the other day too and conservative sites picked it up as if she was on their side. And even though I agreed with what she said then, I think she's just a young kid that's clueless and thinks its edgy and cool to spout off. Remember, show biz types hate mid America because they hated it so much they left.
Barter? …riiiight. Haven't seen the first movie yet, but if they didn't go too far beyond what passed for a plot in the cartoon series, I doubt a "fleshling" would be very able to barter with Megatron. Most likely get vaporized.
Otherwise, it's getting harder to be amazed at how those who like to label "Middle America" as bigots are the ones full of bigotry and hatred.
Sad. Really sad. I read in Maxim that she went to high school at a very conservative Christian school. She said in her interview (in between photos of Her Hotness), that all they did was trash abortion, gays, and evolution. Of course, she is just giving her own version of it, but in the context of her comments about killing off 'bible beating Middle America', she is showing one heck of an issue with bitterness. Whatever it was somebody said, all I can say for all the rest of us evangelicals (especially those of us who work really hard with showing that we can enjoy life with the best of 'em, and give intelligent reasons for our beliefs), is…to the folks in the Christian school (?)—"Thanks guys, thanks a lot. Another case of abusive religion driving people away from God. Makes our lives that much harder. History and logic and good sense have taught you absolutely nothing about presenting God in the light He deserves—loving, compassionate, tolerant, imposing moral laws only for people's benefit, not to oppress. Thanks for nothing."
She is "the chick from Transformers."
I have to disagree with Primer. I never heard anybody call her the next big thing. It´s all about how hot she is – and she is extremely attractive if you can ignore the tattoos. Because this lady who complains about white trash is tattoed like a Phillippine sailor with a jail record.
I think she is just aping her Hollywood tribe without thinking. Anthropologists call it "going native". The ugliness is in the tattoos.
Speaking for myself, it´s not a science. I don´t keep a list or spend any time on these decisons. Some actors drive me away permanently (Penn, Clooney), some annoy me briefly. I may rent some of their movies instead of buying them. And if I have the choice between two movies, well, that choice may become easier if only one of them has a jerk in it.
Make that: "someone who is KNOWN for being a jerk". They may all be jerks. That´s fine, I just don´t want to know it or be hit over the head with it.
I don´t know if Michael Bay loves Middle America , but no one will ever accuse him of being a pretentious arse. And that´s good because there is no shortage of those.
Unless of course she came out publicly against gay marriage
As for her acting skills, have a heart. It´s not easy for these girls to find a place in the industry since the whole exploitation thing went down the tubes in the 1980s. No more women-in-prison movies, Emanuelle sequels or "biker chicks from hell" – her natural habitat is almost gone. All that´s left is direct-to-DVD horror and you can imagine the competition! I can feel her pain. (make your "I´d rather feel her…" joke here)
I long ago tuned out NBC/ABC/CBS/NYTimes/WaPo (except for Kraut) – and I am beginning to tune out amplified liberal Hollywood movies. I won't watch anything by Michael Moore or with Megan Fox. Not a good business model, spitting on half of the country.
Todays actors should just keep their big fat mouths shut and just do their job, thats the only thing they are good at anyway – they are shooting themselves in the foot when they take sides on politics – its costing them and the studios MONEY when they make a statement that most of time is OUT OF LINE – example: Mr. Penn is a great actor but I wont go to any of his movies anymore because he doesnt have a clue whats really going on in the world – we need to clone the actors from the l940's and l950's to bring back RESPECT to hollywood.
What a total loser. I will refuse to see any movie in which she appears on screen for even one second.
Julia is starting to show her age – she's becoming a caricature of her former self, and her former self wasn't all that hot to begin with. And as far as her comment about Republicans, we should all consider that Democrat is between degenerate and dumb in the dictionary.
Brings to mind the quote "drag a hundred dollar bill through a trailer park and there's no telling what you'll get". Hey, if James Carvile can say it about Paula Jones, we should be able to use it for Megan Fox.
USArtguy –
As far as the neighbor goes, I might be content to see his family when he's out, which I guess in our case compares to seeing Foxx's co-stars in other movies (like Downey in Iron Man).
In any case, your point is well taken. Thanks for the reply.
Kit – good call. I actually mentioned this somewhere else in the thread, too.
You can take the skank out of the trailer park, but you can't take the trailer park out of the skank. Physical beauty is only one aspect of being overall attractive and physical beauty is the most fragile as it fades over time. And her defacing it with multiple tattoos – I wonder what they'll look like in about 20 years – that is if she doesn't overdose or flame out in some other trendy way – they'll all spread out and run together and look like raisins or prunes, depending on how big they are.
@Hank Scorpio
Another beautiful, classy, smart woman I'll add is Angela Bassett. Bassett has been acting about as long as Megan Fox has been alive. That's a remarkable feat, especially since Bassett is one of those Christians Fox and liberal, secular Hollywood belittle. (Bassett's secular critics will really have a cow if I mention that her husband is a MINISTER.)
Did I mention that Bassett looks as good as actresses half her age despite having kids? Bassett's internal beauty (character, poise, generosity, etc.) is even more impressive.
Clearly, being a Christian has its benefits since I doubt we'll be talking about Fox 20 years from now. Amazingly, Bassett has enough class to not gloat over Fox eventually burning out like other arrogant starlets before her.
John Nolte nailed it with the following statement:
The days of “names” putting butts in seats are over. Today, the star of the movie is the concept. No concept, no profit. Doesn’t matter who’s in it.<i/>
That's why I'm more sad for Fox than mad at her. She doesn't understand that Hollywood views her as just another piece of disposable eye candy.
If some "hotter" starlet appears on the scene, don't be shocked if Fox gets replaced in Transformers 3.
Seeing that she is white trash, wouldn't she be asking for a mercy kill from Megatron?
Boycott the new Transformers movie. I'm not going to watch a movie that has a hot female star who just trashed Middle America. We got two weeks to get rolling.
I'm with you. First, Tyrese mangles the National Anthem and now this.
Are the guys behind Transformers 2 THAT determined to lose my money?
Eh?? yeah right….
http://www.hissandpop.com/celebrities/h/angieharm...
I do agree she could use some more meat on her bones, but daaayumm!!
You also ignore that you could have a beautiful exterior but be truly ugly on the inside. And correct me if I'm wrong, but generic Hollywood liberals tend to spout off nonsense like wishing people that don't agree them ill. Once a beautiful person spits venom like Ms. Fox did, they lose a lot of luster.
Amen to that!! Ms. Bassett is an absolute knockout and can act circles around people like Megan Fox.
Ouch…..
Meh, I wouldn't necessarily take her word for it. She is viewing the school through anger-colored glasses. I won't say the school wasn't oppressive. I'm sure there are some, but it's very easy for someone who's angry in general to make everything soound bad.
@Skip Press
I agree with you that we should skip movies starring people who regularly demean us. That's our right as consumers and as human beings.
For example, a few years back, critics were baffled why "Hustle & Flow" flopped despite their glowing reviews. The reason is that Black moviegoers like myself are TIRED of movies depicting greedy, sexist pimps as examples of "real Black manhood". So, of course, H & F flopped because many Black moviegoers were sick of having to sacrifice our dignity to be PC.
Similarly, we conservatives of every race shouldn't feel any guilt over skipping movies whose actors disrespect us.
Floyd, you lament what she says but then qualify it with " she is just giving her own version of it…" and dismiss it with "she is showing one heck of an issue with bitterness".
Then follow up with sarcastic barbs at the Christian school without bothering to find out "their" version.. and you automatically assume this is "[a]nother case of abusive religion driving people away from God". Why do you presume it was something somebody said? It takes a more than somebody saying something for this kind of venom to pour from Megan. Like, perhaps, guilt. Why do you imply she is has the right to be embittered and the school was wrong for educating children in the context of it's beliefs? Would she have been better off being educated in a school in Iran?
You're painting with way too broad a brush here. Sorry, Floyd, you do not speak "for all the rest of us evangelicals".
I agree with you on that. The Transformers movies are popcorn flicks so artistic depth isn't expected compared to a Pixar film.
Even so, just because you star in a "mindless summer blockbuster" doesn't give you the right to alienate your customers with dumb, bigot comments.
Maybe Bay will adda scene to the DVD where Optimus Prime tells her to "bite his shiny metal ass".
We're not just a secular society. We're becomin more and more hostile as an anti Christianity culture. May God's grace rest on this young woman–grace that all of us need.
@FormerChicagoan
Your post made me reflect on this quote from John Nolte:
"People used to go to the movies to see stars, but with the possible exception of Will Smith, Denzel Washington and Adam Sandler (arguably there are a few others), those days are over. Most stars can’t even guarantee an opening weekend anymore."
I wonder if the stars mentioned above are so successful because they don't regularly diss half their customers.
*Will Smith is a Democrat, but he never demonizes Republicans.
*Denzel Washington is a Christian, but he doesn't demonize those who don't share his faith.
*Adam Sandler's comedy films are rather lowbrow, but are refreshingly devoid of any conservative-bashing or Christian-bashing.
So, these three men and a few other demonstrate how you can make money simply by not belittling your customers' beliefs.
This chick couldn't carry Ava Gardner's make up bag. Love to see how Betty Davis would react to a pin headed bimbo like this…and of course Marlene Dietrich who was far above all of the bs. Someone needs to say sometimes Megan your opinion isn't wanted or asked for. We don't care what you think.
Is she a self loathing narcissist? Yep. She sure as hell is an exhibitionist. Do our daughters need exposure to a punkette like this? NO WAY! She is merely the latest example of the over sexualization of girls. 19 years old or so and will never be more than what she is right now. No solid foundations. No education. No real life experience. A walking manniquin with a foul mouth and immoral character. Thanks Gloria Steinem for screwing up womens lives, Megan Fox is your progeny. GOOD JOB! Can add her to the Lindsey Lohan, Brittany Spears, Madonna group of women who have no dignity, class, or self awareness.
What was so wrong about her comments? The world would be a much better place, without anti-gay folks.
She's only hot wid her yap shut. Once she opens it she reveals that she IS white trash.
Ah the liberal double standard. So it's O.K. too wish harm on someone who disagrees with you. Nice tolerance sparky.
This is why we are the way we are. This b&*$% wishes DEATH on people and la di da! How some of you can go see Transformers 2 after this is ridiculous. When will you make a stand? What will it take for some of you to get it? What has to be done or said before you "fight back"? Bottom line is so what. She's hot, so who cares if she wishes me dead, right? Oh, c'mon she can't do anything, you might say. I haven't read all the posts but Tennessee_Jed gets it. It's probably just me. Maybe when Hollywood trashes our troops, values, wants us dead and mocks Jesus Christ I should just laugh it off and eat some popcorn.
Ms. Fox's statement is just another variation on the old, old artists gambit of "shocking the bourgeoisie." For the last two hundred yeas (and particularly since the late 1950's) artistic merit has taken a back seat to a pose of rebellion and contempt for anything resembling "middle-class values." Megan Fox is a knockout hottie who probably doesn't have a brain in her poor ole head. However she does know the culture that she swims in and probably understands that Hollywood is full of knockout hotties just inches away from displacing her in her current eminence. In order to survive you have to stand out and generate "controversey." You have to be "transgressive" and there is no more acceptable way of doing that than to trash those xenophobic monsters lurking under the rocks of Middle America. It would be sad if it wasn't so damn boring.
Doesn't this chick date one of the douchebags from the original "Beverly Hills 90210"? Brian Austin Green. C'mon really? Your dating the "BAG".
talented? Oooookay.
I have to completely agree about Will Ferrell and "Talladega Nights." I expected it to be laughing "with" NASCAR fans as it poked fun at them. But it was definitely a laughing "at" them movie and I couldn't finish it.
It seems to me that she was trying to get the British publication to like her. You know, bash America and gain brownie points.
I don't see much difference between her attitude and that of any average liberal — arrogant and condescending.
As usual give a starlet like Megan Fox some attention and they instantly become a narcissist. Hey Megan Fox, a little dose of reality–there are millions, no make that billions of women prettier than you. Grow up Megan, its NOT YOU that makes Transformers an entertaining story.
Megan Fox is hot; however to me, she's kind of "Waffle House waitress, living in a singlewide, used to be a cheerleader, not too bright, pregnant and married at 18 hot". Meaning she's probably included in the exclusive group that she wishes would be destroyed
Can't you just picture her with a pencil behind her ear filling up the ketchup bottles?
The problem is that if the movie IS a success, Megan keeps receiving a paycheck for doing something above her talentless paygrade.
You actually have to have a brain to be a waitress. I think there are other professions she might be more suited to, most involving poles.
@pandax
What Junie also doesn't realize is that many Black folk view homosexuality as deviant, unhealthy lifestyle. Hence, Fox just wished for Megatron to exact genocide against Black people.
Is Junie really cool with that racist idea?
Yeah, but your fogetting one key element. Megan Fox is ridiculously hot, and that will keep 50% of the population forgiving her (admit it….)
Great point.
There was a time when BET was popular with Black viewers because it was the first Black-owned network. However, as BET's programming became increasingly stereotypical, lots of Black viewers like myself stopped watching. Now, with ratings in a slump, BET is at least paying lip service to changing its tune.
Similarly, you'll see less anti-conservative garbage like Fox's comments if we stopped supporting liberal propagandists disguised as actors.
Hix nix chicks' flix.
Yeah, wouldn't it be nice if it were still 1953. Then we wouldn't have endless disgruntled bloggers who moan, groan and pontificate from behind their keyboard when anyone who's actually accomplished something with their life has an opinion.
I'll still see Transformers 2 since I don't go to see her (though she is nice to look at). Sadly I am not at all surprised by the sort of stupidty she is spewing, I imagine it's all she has been exposed to while she's been in Hollywood. Every since the days of Jane Fonda hosting "education seminars" at her home for young actors and actresses back in the 60s it has been this way. I honestly believe the only way to change this is to launch a counter Hollywood somewhere else. Let these idiots have Hollywood.
Also I feel it worth pointing out the Sinatra later became a Republican and was a hardcore supporter of Reagan. Big Sinatra fan.
She'll be long gone from a deadly herpes infection or drug addiction before she ever makes to Celebrity Apprentice of Love.
Megan fox aside this is just another example of the death of common courtesy. OK, I understand that to her crowd in particular and the left in general the possibility that anyone could disagree with her politics or statements and be a decent human being just doesn't exist. Fine. But whatever happened to common frickin' courtesy? Can you ever step off your soapbox and stop lecturing your inferiors on their political and moral failings? OK, I get it, anyone to the right of Tim Robbins is an evil person, fine, just give it a rest every so often!
And they wonder why Hollywood is dying.
Sometimes the Word falls on hard ground. Those who reject it inevitably find reasons to rationalize their rejection. I am not inclined to take such rationalizations at face value.
This is textbook projection. She's a pot smoker who was about to marry a middle aged White guy who was way too into hip hop and is covered in the kind of lame tattoos only strippers and Jr High students think are cool but everyone else from her home state of Tennessee is a White trash Hillbilly.
I'm sure.
Oh, goody. Another star whose movies I will boycott. I hope they all keep talking. I have a choice and I choose to ignore those "entertainers" that despise Americana. Hey, Megan, Middle America says that you can support your own films. We're busy.
actually, John.. I'll go oen further than your statement about 'The days of “names” putting butts in seats are over."… The days of using "names" is COSTING a lot of movies more than it's bringing in. (note that some people have already mentioned Foxx, Clooney, and a few others.).
I think right now there are exactly "three" names that draw people in .. Jim Carrey (and that's a maybe), Christian Bale and Jason Statham (and possibly Jet Li).. that's it. Those are the only two guys I can see right now that if they're name is on a movie release, it gets a positive response from the crowd. Why? Because they've been quiet about where they stand for the most part, and don't go out of their way to piss off any of their fan base.
Make Australia proud? I thought see was a Yank?
I'll still watch the movie as I love Transformers, but will think she's an idiot. A really, really hot idiot, but an idiot none the less.
So, Middle America is going to be lectured about marriage by a guy (Allen) who slept with his daughter?
This should be good.
Some people are incapable of understanding sublte hints and need to be smacked upside the head. It's no suprise many conservatives don't get Stephen Colbert because Fox has dumbed them down. It would be nice to try and sway them with debate but sometimes you have to say… "Hey you racists, homophobes, religous zealots, etc. You are hating morons and someone is going to call you on it to your face."
I give up.
Who wants to find some land and start a new movie / entertainment industry free of political garbage?
Actually the whole pretty shell, crap filled interior is exactly what I'm saying.
Until Megan Fox opened her mouth, she was a hot, but empty shell. Now it's filled with something less appealing than dog doodoo. I offer if Angie Harmon had opined with such hate as you find in a typical hollywood liberal, that your view of her would be greatly diminished.
But in terms of pure superficial looks, a mute Megan Fox is much more attractive than a mute Angie Harmon. However when their mouthes open, there is a reduction of separation between their level of appeal.
But it doesn't change the simple hotness of the woman.
For if Fox and Harmon had said the same moronic statement, as a shallow guy, the likelihood of tolerating Ms Fox would still be greater than for Angie Harmon. Because a large part of Harmon's appeal is that she is not the typical hollywood liberal plastic doll.
Isn't it interesting how poor white (especially Christian) people are the only demographic excluded from PC? Imagine the uproar if the object of Fox's ire was ethnic or transgendered or Muslim, etc… Yet terms like redneck, cracker, trailer park, trailer trash and white trash are all perfectly acceptable forms of derision in the collective lexicon. Maybe I'll start an advocacy group for the poor white folks. They have feelings too, Megan.
Sort of like Mark Twain admonishing people "Better to be quiet and have people think you are a fool than to open your month and confirm it".
Regardless of ones political leanings, I do not understand the compulsion of Hollywood "celebrities" to rub our faces in their politics.
Sean Penn is a brilliant actor but I cannot see a movie with him without thinking of his obnoxious political rantings. There's a couple I would have gone to with him but for his politics.
I was in business for over 20 years and I wouldn't dream of letting my customers know of my politics. If you talk long enough you will find points of disagreement with everyone. The conventional wisdom is that getting into political disagreements with customers (or potential customers) is a bad thing.
What is it with these Hollywood people? Ego?
Let Megan Fox kill me. She's hot!
I think of most of the hollywood community as a big fraternity. They are just abunch of people with similar beliefs that throw big parties and sit around spewing beliefs they all believe in. The lack of opposition makes them believe that are all very smart. People like Fox have never had their beliefs questioned in a conversational setting. Just another lefty movie star saying she is right and making her beautiful head bigger than it already is.
I hope the Bay comment actually occurred, but given that Fox's comment was more recent the lesson apparently wasn't learned.
"Who cares what Megan Fox says???" Well, apparently we do or we wouldn't be talking about it. Of course, by "care" it's more of a "man that's disappointing" thing. Disappointing that she said something so stupid. Disappointing that she said something so hateful. Disappointing that we now have to decide whether to put her on our "avoid" list.
Megan Fox forgets where she came from. She was born in Oak Ridge, TN…basically a backwater east TN town where a lot of the residents have never left the county in their lives (I know this via personal experience.) She was raised in Rockwood, TN, which is in an area chock full of trailer homes. She's nothing but an arrogant b*tch, and I won't be seeing Transformers — I won't contribute one red cent to her income.
Q: Why do people have the stereotype they do about attractive women?
A: Megan Fox, Demi Moore, Jennifer Aniston, etc….
This is the problem with extreme lefties, they consider conservatives to be their biggest enemy. Fox wouldn't have Megatron destroy Al-Qaeda or the Taliban, Iranian or North Korean nuclear sites, or even Hamas or Hezbollah. How about the gangs that are destroying inner city youth? No, the real problem is religious white people. The only thing Fox should ask Megatron is for his autograph. He is a better actor and will most likely have a more distinguished career.
"I know it is a weakness on my part, but I simply cannot spend my money to put money in their pocket."
I don't think it's a weakness.
Adam Sandler *IS* a conservative.
Not having seen the first Transformers movie, I won't be seeing Transformers II either. Not because Megan Fox is a brainless skank (though she is that, in spades), but because I really hate big, stupid high concept movies whose origin is a comic book or a cartoon show. Good God, people, grow up!
You are aware that many Black DEMOCRATS:
a. Declare themselves Christian
b. Consider homosexuality a deviant, self-destructive lifestyle
So, why don't we hear White liberals like Megan Fox and yourself brand Black Democrats as "un American" or "anti-gay"?
Just something to think about.
You know, Robert Davi always play the bad guy in some movies, but in real life, he's an all-American nice guy. That's how I may see Megatron: wickedly cool but evil bad guy in movies, but really a nice Transformer actor in real life and he probably wouldn't do what Megan Fox asked him to do to Middle America.
Point taken.
Sorry I misread you.
I agree, Megatron probably just enjoys sitting by the pool at his west hollywood hills home sipping margaritas. He is probably not very political at all, just a transformer with a dream. Davi and Megatron have both been unfortunately typecast. Both are great actors with the talent and range to play many different types of characters. Fox is just a pretty face reciting lines someone else wrote for her.
You're forgetting that Tom Hanks bashed Mormons because they didn't agree with gay marriage, just like the vast majority of people in this country. It doesn't matter that the LDS population in this country is a smaller minority than the gay minority is, or that they worked hand in hand with over 100 other organizations, religious and otherwise, in advocating the passage of Prop 8. It was still "unAmerican" for Mormons to have voted their conscience. I didn't notice him calling the Latino or black populations unAmerican, even though they voted in favor of Prop 8 almost exclusively – because that would have been perceived as racist.
She is no actress, she's eye candy.
Her roll in Transformers is to roll around on the cars or motorcycles like she's the White Snake chick.
Why do people even print what these celebutards say/
I would pay good money to see that! lol
Yeah. She's obviously very embittered. I hope she can repent one day.
I don't know… Lohan was able to extend her 15 to 20 by becoming 'lesbian.' I guess we'll be finding out soon that Ms. Fox likes the girls in a couple of minutes.
You know, that didn't occur to me. lol
Meagan Fox ain't that fine anyway. There's a lots of ladies MUCH hotter than her.
As one of those black, middle american, rednecks from North Carolina, I say…PISS THE HELL OFF, B***H!!
If Bay said that, I've gained so much respect for the man as a director — unlike McG with Christian Bale.
The irony is that Megan Fox IS white trash.
If I were the manager of one of these spoiled-brat Hollywood celebrities, I would remind them that fame is bought and sold by the audience who pay money to see their work. Megan Fox has forgotten that red-neck middle America is her CLIENT – her bread and butter, her patron. You can't bite the hand that feeds you – no matter how ignorant you think they are – or at least, you can't continue to do it and not suffer financial loss. She needs to spend some time talking to Sean Penn and George Clooney – two idiots who have completely marginalized themselves because they couldn't stop running their mouths and insulting the people who own their celebrity.
Ha! That's a good one.
"Because this lady who complains about white trash is tattoed like a Phillippine sailor with a jail record."
I missed that first time around. That's Good!
Care to take a stab at how many body parts she has pierced?
You could probably hang the loss of millions of lives due to malaria on environmentalists because of the ban on DDT.
What get's me is that these people are nothings without their current place in life. She'd probably be working in a Victoria's Secret store in the mall or a 7-11. They're not particularly bright either. The smart ones either keep their mouths shut or use some tact when voicing their opinions. Idiots like Fox or Penn obviously have an inflated view of themselves. They played someone smart on a movie, so it automatically means they are. Except Penn showed his true to life colors as Spicoli.
Colbert, who doesn't know which way is up, is a sneering self important blowhard. Apparently you are one of his top students…
I saw the 'Sleeping Dictionary' and Jessica Alba was superb in it. I know she was snubbed for an Oscar for it. It was a conspiracy!!!
Whe was pretty hot as a jungle girl. Yep, that was probably it.
The skill these people possess is pretending…you know, what we all learned in kindergarten. The problem is that their brains have not progressed since then. The easy way to tell who is talented in movies & tv nowadays is: if they aren't great looking or weird looking, they are probably the talented ones.
And look what's happened to Demi. She's stalking junior high schools for a husband.
[...] check out Newsweek’s defense of Nia Vardalos (hat tip: Anne Thompson)… and Big Hollywood’s John Nolte on lack of true movie stars [...]
Do you mean that huge number of blacks that voted for Prop 8?
Want a street address boy!
That one knocked me out of the "Funk" I was in today! That is soooooooo funny!
This constant rhetoric of death to anyone that doesn't follow the commie speak is getting to be the norm….I think history shows that words do matter, and soon the rhetoric of class warfare, political opinions, etc. is going to explode….glad that hillbillys are armed.
there are very few actors good enough to make me forget their obnoxious off-screen comments. I loved "Shawshank Redemption" and "The truth about Cats and Dogs" but cannot stand to watch either now that the leads have destroyed my image of them.
It isn't about "punishing" them for their politics. It is about them having behaved boorishly in public and my not being able to seperate their real-world stupidity from the screen persona they try to create. THey aren;t good enough to pull that off.
Or perhaps people don't match your caricatures and you are incapable of understanding that.
What a concept.
“I’d barter with him,” she muses to the July, issue Total Film UK, “and say instead of the entire planet, can you just take out all of the white trash, hillbilly, anti-gay, super bible-beating people in Middle America?”
Sounds like a smart plan to me. Then again I do have a fully formed frontal lobe.
All of them, I guess. Do they set off metal detectors? Does she have to avoid magnetic fields?
Megan Fox is the white trash hick she is insulting. Her looks will fade & eventually she might marry Hugh Hefner's skeleton when she's done.
Megatron does not negotiate with "puny human flesh creatures"; he would kill her instantly. Starscream, on the other hand, had on ally human, but even he did not care for them.
Some of my favorite stars were red hot liberals, like Paul Newman, Spencer Tracy and Gene Kelly. But that's ok – as the writer said, they didnt insult me or mine. I'd still pay to see them on the screen. And as far as I know, they loved America.
Besides, I think the true star of today's movies is the computer generated spoecial effects, explosions every 10 seconds, and the "F word every other word.
I'm not sure that Hollywood understands that there are a growing number of people like myself. We're so tired of the Hollywood liberal actor activists like Penn, Grafalo, Clooney, and etc. insulting us off-screen that we can no longer stomach watching them onscreen (whether TV or movies). Fox merely adds herself to the list of people that mid-America will shun watching because they cannot stomach them.
[...] Care of Big Hollywood [...]
Yup.
And way thumbs up on Overboard! Screwball comendy at its finest!
transformers is junk anyways. michael bay is uwe boll-like in his hackness. plus who wants to see 50 ft robots fighting from 3 ft away.
*FLASH OF METAL*SHHHHOOOOOSSSSH*EXPLOSION*BOOOOSSSSSSHHHHH*CAMERA JERKS TO THE RIGHT/FLASH OF METAL/EXPLOSION*SHOOOOOOOOMMMM
megan fox is just another example that young hollywood "stars" shouldnt say things unless someone writes it for them.

Ah come on… she's just shooting her mouth off… controversy = popularity in hollywood paparazi celebrity-obsessed lala land.
