The new terminator will be much better than T3, which relied on a very weak version of John Conner. They tried to make him a normal likeable guy and it didn't work, he came off as weak and unsure. Christian Bale brings back the hard egge that Michael Bein gave to the role of Freedom Fighter in a world he didn't understand. From all the clips I have seen and espcially the twist it is going to have will reboot the series. If you didn't like the first couple of movies then nothing I say here is going to change your mind. But, if you are one of those fans that always wanted to see the great struggle that was the future war with the machines that we only glimpsed in the past movies, this one should fit the bill.

could not agree with you more. Linda Hamilton's Sarah was just flat out unattractive, and it just wasn't necessary. The hyper realistic character portrayal doesn't jibe with the sillier aspects of the film; it wasmeant to be a post feminist statement (Cameron, like Ridley Scott is an uberfeminist)and it just doesn't work well...

Amen! I wouldn't want to watch an entire movie about Ewoks, but they weren't so bad. They were basically R2-D2 with fur.

In my opinion, three things made the Terminator franchise:

1. The Score (it was the only thing that got me excited in the new trailer)
2. Arnold (perfect casting)
3. Cameron (the best pop-director outside of Spielberg)

One out of three ain't bad for the current installment.

Ewoks? You're worried about Ewoks? What about JAR-JAR BINKS?! To me, it's Gungans that bring shivers down my spine rather than Ewoks. At least they're cute and cuddly. Just listening to Jar-Jar makes me want to listen to the Ewok song on my iPod, on REPEAT I might add. I mean please, if you think Ewoks are as bad as it got for "Return Of The Jedi", well, two thngs: Digitally-added Gungans and old Anakin Skywalker digitally replaced with Hayden Christensen.

The Terminator franchise is one of my favorites. I'll never forget the first time I saw the original. A friend of mine called me - we were both recording studio types at the time - and said I HAD to see this movie Terminator because it had such wild action sequences, visual tech, and a soundtrack to die for. I completely missed the theatrical release, so he rented the VHS (Remember those?) and we watched it... twice in one sitting.

The soundtrack during the car chase with the sampled rough-running engine put into a driving rhythm was particularly brilliant, but what do you expect, I'm a recording studio wonk. I love s#!* like that. ;^)

T2 was technically better because they had a lot more money to throw at it - remember, Terminator was Cameron's warm-up for Aliens, and so was not intended to be an iconic "classic" - but the slightly natty feel of the original was better, IMO.

T3 was brilliant and frustrating at the same time for me. Claire Danes does it for me in a big, big way, but Nick Stahl doesn't. LOL! Fortunately, Kristana Loken's presence and the really, truly, epic and unbelievable chase scene with the industrial crane were both sheer, unadulterated genius! I too liked the 50's sci-fi hat tip ending, and thought it excellent, but there were a few scenes that just weren't convincing for me. T1 and T2 didn't have those issues.

As for the new one, Bale is one of my favorite actors of the latest generation, and has been since American Psycho. His American accent is so good, I didn't even know he was a Brit until I saw a rerun of Little Women on sat years later! The trailer looks pretty good, but I've seen great trailers for sucky movies a LOT in recent years. Oh, and count me among those concerned by the PG-13 rating: If losing the grit between T1 & T2 was problematic for me, I think turning the Terminator franchise into a slightly cooler Transformer series will really tic me off.

They were looking at the freeze at the time, I thought. I think your right that most people saw out-of-control monster machines, "HAL" on nanosteroids, and not evil Reagan, and also it is possible the producers did not want to go too far out. Her rants, I thought, were actually anti-industrial, although she did it as the epitome of warrior/mom, which defeated any appeasement thinking. I always saw the anti-nuke thing, since it always saw soviet nukes as good nukes, as lefty.
