‘Jihad Jitters’: The Museum of Metropolitan Art Cowards
by Jeffrey JenaThe left has a long tradition of bowing down to dictators and others they fear. No, I am not talking about President Obama stooping to kings and other foreign leaders. That is just another example of a long tradition of silliness that is often seen from liberals. What I am talking about is how many on the left live in fear. They try to mask it as respect or cultural reverence but it is fear.

The latest example comes from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. It seems that these liberal defenders of the freedom of artistic expression, who would never listen to a conservative complaint about a display, have removed a number of depictions of Mohammad from the collection formerly known as the Islamic Galleries. The name “Islamic Galleries” has been changed “Arab Lands, Turkey, Iran Central Asia and Later South Asia.”
Man, that is a mouthful!
Why the changes at the Met? Simple, the people in charge know that Islamic Fundamentalists don’t fool around. If they ask you to remove a drawing of Mohammad because they find any depiction of the founder of their religion objectionable, you take it down or face a fatwa. Think I’m wrong? Ask your local Danish Cartoonist or Dutch filmmaker about artistic tolerance under Islam. The folks running the Met are attached to their heads and know how to take a hint. There will be no long court battle or Constitutional challenge raised.
This is not reverence for culture or religions. It is fear of reprisal by an Islamic extremist. Imagine the Met gets to display some Mapplethorpe photos or perhaps the infamous Piss Christ. I, as a right-wing conservative, ask them to consider my religious and cultural values and take the display down. I get laughed out of the office. Why? Because the guy giving the sermon down at St. Patrick’s isn’t going to try to get one of his more fervent followers to walk up 5th Avenue and cut your head off.

Ah, the freedom to criticize as long as we are safe to do so. These Museum folks should be glad they are Americans.
Since when do these muslim terrorists get to tell anyone in this country what they can have in a museum??? It's ok to put the 'piss Christ' pic up but NOT Mohammad??? What COWARD is in charge if that place…again, the left cowering to our enemies…disgusting!!
It's widely know throughout our Realm, that 98.2% of all libtards, are cheese whiz eatin’ tail between their legs, flea scratchin’ surrender monkeys. Here ➦ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rJAw-fuYHk
Like gang members, they're only brave in groups of 15 or more.
BOOOO!
Not Over.
Just proof that they have no real convictions.
God help us if we offend someone while they're planning to blow us to pieces. Still nauseous over this one.
But I thought that Christian fundamentalists were just as dangerous as the Islamic fundamentalists……hmmmmm
You mean the Christians aren't sawing people's heads off?? Could Rosie "I'm so fat I jumped in the air and got stuck" O'Donnell be wrong???
Hmmm…maybe there’s a lesson there?
I think I'll make a "MoHAMmed" and display it.
It is a picture of Mohammed, made out of HAM.
I think the Muslims will find it ham-mazing!
I'm right there with ya, 1GooDDaDDy. However, I do likes me some Cheeze Whiz. Sorry! LOL
A link to the film, "Submission", which got Theo van Gogh butchered, in the streets of Amsterdam, back in Nov. 2004.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Submission_(film)
To this day, I am still outraged, when I think about the 'silence' of the majority in the film community concerning the murder of this man.
Thank God, his partner, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, is around continuing to fight the good fight, despite numerous threats on her life.
what if someone were to hang a blank canvas entitled Portrait: Prophet Muhammad, would they face a penalty of death? does that even qualify as a depiction? it's ironic that the very same people who would kill you for such are the same ones who hold contests promoting artwork that is supposed to be intentionally offensive. cant tolerance be reciprocated just once?
If you decide to actually work on your art, I'll supply all the Spam you could ever use, if deemed acceptable.
It's not even cowardice. How many Muslims have threatened the Met? How many have even heard of it?
No, this pre-emptive surrender is a gesture to Americans, especially the wealthy liberals who give money to museums. The Met is telling them "We're good people! We suck up to Islamic fundamentalists! Not like those awful Republicans with their flags and guns and Christianity!"
"Because the guy giving the sermon down at St. Patrick’s isn’t going to try to get one of his more fervent followers to walk up 5th Avenue and cut your head off."
Not yet. La guillotine shall claim her bloody prize.
Nothing like not even putting up a fight for "Artistic expression". Seems to me the Libtard/Artistes had no problem with desecrating Christian symbols and images of Christ not that long ago. So, why then, do they cower in fear over hurting Mohammedan feelings? Oh, that's right Christians don't hack peoples heads off with rusty butcher knives silly me.
I think Muslims ought to be offended early and often. I think we ought to go out of our way to offend Muslims.
If they don't like it they can go back to whatever flyblown Sharia sh!thole they came from.
Most of the left are industrial grade cowards, the only fight they are willing to get into are the ones that have no consequences for them.
At least thats what they think, 2010/12 is going to put that to the test.
I'm not so sure it's fear as much as admiration (Anita Dunn anyone?)
And Later South Asia?
Amazing how all that talk about artistic freedom flies out the window when you believe that the people who you offend might back up their indignation with violence.
NOTICE TO THE MET: We won't believe you anymore, because you have now shown us that you're full of it.
Scuffle, that's nonsense. Where do you think the Met's depictions of Muhammad come from? It's ISLAMIC ART. The equivalent in your analogy would be Christians objecting to displays of medieval church decorations.
And I thought enlightened, secular America wasn't supposed to be influenced by religious considerations? We don't tolerate crosses on public land, remember? So why are we accomodating the demands of one particular school of Islamic thought?
Scuffle, you can come back to earth and reacquaint yourself with reality. Islam is one of the world's largest religions. They are not the under dogs that you believe them to be. Furthermore, there is no evidence that Muslims are victimized in any Western country. On the contrary, they are constantly demanding special priveledges.
Thank you, friend of the arts, but I think I will apply for a grant from the NEA instead. This will leave less money for Obama propaganda. I think it will cost at least 1.5 million for my work, because I need to host large parties while working. I will also need a new truck to carry all the ham in. And a big refrigerator.
Do you have a special Spam connection? Spam is pork shoulder and ham, right? I guess that will work. I can grill the excess too. Mmmmmm.
"Speaking truth to power" my ass.
They do enjoy "cultural dominance", in virtually every country in the Middle East, and a growing part of Africa. We can see for ourselves what happens to "vulnerable and victimised minoritys" in these Muslim Oligarchys and Theocracys………. well, just those of us who maintain a cognitive thought process, right scruffy? Engaging in a bit of lip-rattling there yourself, eh idiot? ………………… Hanzo
Whatever that's supposed to mean. Religious people didn't invent "La guillotine", the first progressives did ……………………………. Hanzo
i am curious when piss Mohammad is coming out, and when the NEA will fund it?
And what's bad about them acting on fear like this is that they are sending a very clear message to Islamic radicals and they better hope it's a message that Christians sick of artists dunking crucifixes into jars of urine or depicting Mary with elephant dung never take to heart. That message is that if you really want liberals in the arts and media to respect you, they have to fear you and the best way to get them to fear you is to kill a few and threaten to kill more. In other words, they are proving that violence works.
Whereabouts in the Middle East is New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art located, Hanzo?
Or have you completely ignored the subject being discussed, and gone into your emergency broadcast of disconnected anti-Islam ravings?
So, offending "victims" is bad but offending "non-victims" is ok?
How about not offending anybody?
OR…how about treating everybody like grown-ups who can take criticism without curling up and dying?
No,no, just responding to your inane drivel. Your tactics of ad hominem attacks and dross blanket statements haven't changed, now have they? Anyway, why do you care? You don't even reside in this country and you've seen your own homeland kowtow to Muslim extremists, how do you like that? One would think , witnessing first hand that of which we speak, you'd know better. I think I have your number though, you're just trolling as usual………………. Hanzo
Fire Pig, allow me to reaquaint you with the article at the top of the page. It concerns the tailoring of an exhibition in the US. Are you suggesting that Islam is the dominant religion in the US? You can argue that there's no fellow more beloved of his neighbours and celebrated by the community than the average Muslim American right now, but I'm not sure that's an argument with much traction.
Of course there's no evidence of Muslims being victimised in any Western country! There's a hell of a paper-trail with victimisation, after all. Everything is processed through the proper channels, and nothing happens at street level. Or in the office, the supermarket, the restaurant…
Leftists don't believe in anything except their own comfort and advancement. They often cloak themselves in the First Amendment, but God forbid they ever actually had to risk reprisal to protect it.
Always interesting too that a dipiction of Mohammad has to be labeled as such. As far as I know, there isn't really a globally accepted icon image of Mohammad like say Jesus Christ or Buddha. So placing a picture of an Arab would be fine until you said it was Mohammad, then watch your backs. And good points being made about the absurdity of "religious sensitivity". Yeah right. Fecal Virgin Mary. Hmmm… nothing insensitive about that. As already stated but I want to put my two cents in, not a big worry from the Christian front when you defile Jesus that you're going to blow you up.
Progressives are hungry for free speech, but when a bear shows up at their picnic they lose their appetite.
I find it hysterical that there's an ad in the margin right now…for the Metropolitan Museum of Art store. Way to have it both ways, BH!
Part of me would like the Met to have bigger b*lls, but part of me still doesn't see why a museum should be excoriated for trying to protect its patrons from violent lunatics. Or should they cost the city millions in continuous high security protection? And, forgive me, can we get over Piss Christ already? (The artist is getting the last laugh that it's still irritating people. He's a rude @$$hole and you just encourage him. Ignore him like the snotty brat he is.) It was over 20 years ago and I don't think it was ever exhibited at the Met, which isn't exactly a bastion of cutting edge modern art. And they're in a really, really rich neighborhood. No way they're going to risk their neighbors or the gazillions in tourist dollars they pull in every year when they can pull a few paintings and STILL display more art that a human can possibly see in a week, even if they spent a second in front of everything in there. I don't expect a museum to have bawls in the face of a threat. Bring on your scorn if you will, all I can think of is the dynamited Bamiyan Buddhas…not as big a tragedy as a human being blown up of course, but a loss to humanity nonetheless.
But "Law Enforcement" will continue to insist that the so-called Religion of Peace indeed is, and will refuse to profile its members lest they be offended.
No, it's not fear, as you've quite rightly spotted. It's not a 'surrender' either. It's just the recognition that doing something that's guaranteed to piss off a vulnerable and victimised minority isn't really the noblest of endeavours. If Muslims occupied the highest branches of public office in the US (bite your tongues, birthers) and Islam had the kind of cultural dominance that Christianity enjoys, then the situation would be different. Recognising that there's enough stick-rattling coming from idiots of various persuasions is just sensible.
Progressives……PROTARDS or LIBTARDS……
just don't get it…….
JIHADIST MUSLIM DON'T JUST HATE CONSERVATIVES………
THEY HATE YOUR ARSES ALSO……..
IN FACT YOUR CHOICES IN THE WAR AGAINST JIHADISTS ARE……
WIN, DIE, CONVERT. OR BE A SLAVE…..
Sorry chap, allow me to reaquaint you with reality. That's right, even after 9/11, when CAIR and the Islamic Brotherhood tried to whip up a frenzy wailing about the oncoming wave of anti-islamic sentiment about to be unleashed in America, guess what? Nothing happened, perhaps a couple of isolated incidents(I seem to remember a window was smashed at the Dallas CAIR office), other than that, the Muslims were left to their own devices. Fact is, scruffy, America is the most tolerant country on Earth, all citizens, nay everyone here, illegal or not, enjoy an amount of freedom not seen anywhere else in the world. How many minority leaders or politicians have you had in your country?
…………………… Hanzo
Chalk up another win for Islam and submission.
Hope all Liberal Women will find the Burka a nice fashion statement
in their "dark corner".
That's true, and FBI data reflect this: http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/cius_04/offenses_reported/...
Judaism is far and away the religion that suffers the most incidents of bias in the US. 69% of all bias incidents in 2004 were against Jews. That's more than all other religions combined. Muslims did come in second, but their percentage of all bias incidents was 11%. And yet we're supposed to believe that things are so terrible for Muslims here.
Does that mean that I have to remove my Mohammed Dart Board??? Great fun!!!!!
I actually did that picture, titled thus, during the Cartoon Jihad a few years ago. I posted it to Usenet, not the web, and got death threats after they traced it to my IP. Then I learned how to proxy. Be careful – be safe. And, no, I no longer have the pic.
You're not going to see any outrage or concern over the murder of Theo van Gogh from the film community – it gains them nothing. In fact it's almost eerie how respectable documentary makers (basically the ideological and professional opposites of Michael Moore) have turned their back on this entire issue as if on command.
If, on the other hand, Matt Damon would sprain his wrist writing a limerick about the horrors of the Bush Administration the weepy dramas, telethons, and self righteous breast beating on the talk show circuit would be unending.
Liberals only insult people they are fairly sure won't haul off and beat the living dog$h!t out of them.
Which is why I say walk softly, but carry a handgun publicly strapped to your leg.
Should someone inform the MET that Turks aren't Arabs?
Christian fundamentalists get in a huff about "Piss Christ". Muslim Fundamentalists get in a huff about "Piss Mohamed" or the like. The difference? Well one is indignant and the other is violent.
Either way, isn't this all pretty absurd?
fuck usa
