I just love finding these insane comments about Lady Gaga from old folk. Makes me laugh. Swallow your pride and watch one of the aforementioned unplugged versions of her songs. Lady GaGa is not my type of music, but i did see her live at a small show and she can really sing and play the piano. She's a good musician ,not just a lipsyncher, whatever else you might think about her.

Wow, and Lady Gaga anagrams to 'A Glad Gay'. Coincidence? I doubt it. One day she's helping out homeless gays, claiming they're people just like us, the next she's injecting AIDS into our chicken nuggets (that's a METAPHOR). Will the circus of depravity never end, I ask you! I'll go wash out my ears naow with some High School Musical soundtrack and Taylor Swift. All this praise for the VMA performance, why can't Gaga just express something like the wholesome chaste love of Bella Swan and Edward Cullen! Now that's the kind of necrophilia I can get behind.

She is doing what she does. And folks buy it. IN that she is no different from Madonna or any other 'artist' or performer. As long as she gets the attention she wants and makes the kind of money she wants she will continue until she finds something else to make a living or another audience to pay her what she so clearly does not deserve. It is just like major sports. They do what they do and take the money for as long as there is anybody out there to pay it.

What you both said is apt, and I certainly am not knocking anyone's preference (I doubt many folks would like my playlist). But, you both aimed your comments at the guy getting up on stage & performing, whereas my comment pertained solely to riding in one's car & listening to the audio. Don't get me wrong, I love Tom Petty & the Stones and neither TP or Mick Jagger are going to win any soloist contests, but the music, in the end, rules.

I've heard Dylan's Christmas release was good, so maybe I'll give it a try.

I guess there's always a question of how much a singer's style or even their actual lyrics "send a message" to kids who listen to them. It probably just depends on the kid. If a parent educates her child, tries to teach her good values, then maybe those songs are just songs. But there are always kids who take an artist's "whole package" seriously – as an admirable lifestyle or reaction to whatever situation they're in. Guess it's just a matter of knowing your kid, detecting which way they're heading, and responding accordingly. I'm not a parent. I do have a neice who's into whatever the kids are into these days. She seems to be turning out ok – still goes to church, does athletics, does pretty good in school. Some aspects of the culture may be toxic, but she and her parents are doing fine.
