You are probley one of the people screaming keep your gov't hands off my Medicaid. The idiot is the one who has health care and complains about having it and/or about people trying to get it. You expect to be taken care of without a plan to try and recoup the cost. Everyone should have to pay for their own health care.

Just go ahead and ignore the fact that if you don't smoke and get fat you could cost more for end of life care. Fat and smokers tend not to live as long and potentially not cost as much for as long as you health nuts will. I don't recall who said it but it was once said, wait until these health nuts get old and are confused on why they are dieing from nothing. Think from both sides instead of fearing a public option for health care. Think in terms of your own life. Does grandma really benefit from staying hooked up to life support devices for years without the possibility of recovery? If you weren't so afraid of death or heaven or hell then you would be ok deciding that gmas health isn't improving. I once talked to a intern from a asian country that told me, 'it's amazing on the amount of money Americans spend on keeping dead people alive.'

has interesting news on fat pseudoscience.
we might want to ask, what is the plus side for people in the govt. to want to promote myth?

Junkfood Science, a blog, also has the real science on how fat actually protects health.

How about alcoholics, people who do pot, other drug users, people who have risky life styles --- frequent prositutes and Swinger's organizations, the mentallly ill, and the that always favorite people to be risk--the gays.

Let's all THEN help Big Brother to spy and rat out our neighbors, co-workers and families. Oh yeah, almost
forgot - --God Bless America

Amen, look at how private property rights have been ground under in the name of "smoking". The entire second-hand smoke arguements are based on a house of cards. The hallmark 1993 EPA study was heavily critized in by a federal court decision as "cherry-picking" its data and refusing to acknowledge any contrary information that would discredit their findings. And most subsequent studies have based their information on the same 1993 study. For more info, check out this video which is exposes the fantasy of second-hand smoke: http://www.dailymotion.com/weep555/video/xr9wa_10... .

This is something that has been coming down the pike for several years now and thankfully now that people's health insurance is being threatened that they're starting to wake up to the danger of the 'nanny state'. Studies have shown that obeese people do not substantially raise costs and that several of the typical tools used to measure obeseity (sp?) are inaccurate, most notably the BMI (body mass index). The blog, junkfoodscience.com has great information and links to medical articles tackling this, focusing on the harmful effects it is having on children and child rearing. I encourage anyone interested in these topics to check the site out.
