A Limited Recount in Tehran
by Jeffrey JenaQ. How many young Iranian voters does it take to oust Ahmadinejad?
A. More than they have, apparently!
Remember student council elections in high school? You took it so seriously… As if you just elected the right person you’d get rock music over the PA in the morning and no final exams. When I look at things like the beauty contest election in Iran for President, an office with about the same amount of power as class president, I wonder how afraid the puppeteers on the council of twelve high muckity-mucks must be that they won’t allow someone who they had to approve to run for office actually win.
In a statement the Guardian Council said they might be willing to have a limited recount of some ballot boxes. Remind you of anything? That is exactly what the Al Goristas wanted to do in Florida a few years back. Fortunately for us (you too, Progressives), we let the lawyers handle it while we had a cookout and a few beers and when it was over we traded snide comments rather than bullets in the streets.
Here is the thing about the election, the Guardian Council and Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said that Ahmadinejad won 63% of the vote. I think if you are going to tell a lie you should at least make it a believable lie. Like folks who listened to Wilt Chamberlin claim how many women he had slept with or Clinton saying he smoked but didn’t inhale, I think the average Iranian just has a problem thinking his guy got beat that badly. I think the over/under was only 55%.
Another problem is that the Supreme Leader (what a great title!) has already said that the election results were a “divine verdict.” That’s a tough position to back away from when you are not only the political leader of a country but its religious one as well. A Mr. Abbasali Kadkhodai, who is a spokesman for the Guardian Council, said there might be some changes to the vote tally. So you see, maybe the current puppet president won by only getting 61%. Our Bad!
The Iranian government has termed the protests “unauthorized gathering” and Janet Napolitano wishes she had thought of that term before the Tea Parties!

It would be quite something if the Iranians threw out the weird beards.
The only thing that could make a recount more unbelievable, is if ACORNasthan conducted it.
Our elections in 2012. Thanks to the new, new Black Panthers and ACORN.
I'm putting my money on the Iranian Women their made of Stern Stuff. God Help them and Bless Them.
Must be why he went to Moscow right after the vote, to get the recount machine..
The problem is, the opposition is just slightly less odious than the present cabal. They still hate Jews and Americans and want nukes. The best case scenario here, I think, would be for there to be a civil war and they destroy each other.

Notice some of the wording on the toon may be a little hard to read above. Just click it for a full size image. But then again I am sure you are all smart enough to have figured it out.
A "limited recount" is where the mullahs count all the votes, tell you who won the election, and install their hand-picked leader anyway.
The vote recount is limited to "just don't matter, you filthy infidels."
(Singing) "I'm an infidel and I'm OK, I subvert all night and I sleep all day…."

All American Reject.
"I shave my face, I worship Christ, I watch por-no-graphee,
On Fridays I don't pray much, and drink a big whis-keee…."
EVERBODY! "I'm an infidel and I'm OK, I subvert all night and I sleep all day…."
"I eat some pork, I smoke some weed, and piss on Kho-men-eee,
They call for me a fatwa, just like me dear ma-ma"
All the Iranian protesters want is moral support from America. All Obama wants is to be excused from giving them that support. Sorry, Mr. President, but you can't vote "present" whenever the going gets tough. How are you going to handle North Korea shooting missiles toward Hawaii? Are you going to be a man and shoot those missiles down or run to the United Nations and file a protest? Grow a spine, for God's sake!

Didn't Franken-stein also get a partial recount and had things swing his way? Best election Soros' money could buy.
Wow. Adding "the Man" to your monicker almost threw me into thinking you might be someone with something interesting to contribute. Did you try it out in front of the mirror first?
Oh Mohamar, and I thought you were so shaheed!!!!
Save it for your next american taliban meeting.
Obama's stern condemnation of this sham election held by a theocratic dictatorship must have really gotten to the Supreme Council!

Did you hear that? He has "deep concerns"!
osama bin jenna strikes out again.
Lost the monicker already have you? Doesn't go with the costume?
When you see pictures of all the people in the streets protesting you wonder who the eff even voted for amedinejad. Kind of like here with obama only it's people protesting on websites.
Of course he does, just like he's losing sleep over the deficit..You know the one that HE helped create. I suggest 3 sleeping pills and a glass of wine.
Until I hear about protestors overrunning police and military installations, seizing weaponry, and really, actually fighting back – you know, shooting and killing the ba$tard$ in charge – I figure the Mullahs will remain in control and nothing will change in Iran anytime soon. Unfortunately, of course.
Problem at this point is, the government has photographed many of the activists, so they are basically dead already. If the protestors give up, many of them will just "disappear" or end up hanged in soccer fields from cranes. So, what it comes down to is, do the protestors know that they are walking around dead at this point? If enough of them do, since they have nothing more to lose anyway, they'll go ahead and hit the government with suicidal waves of people until they overrun them, because that's what it's going to take. Anything less will lead to failure and extermination for them. Sadly.
So, you're hoping the Iranian democracy movement fails, then? Could you explain why?
Would you explain what you mean, please? Are you opposed to democracy in Iran?
Even failed rebellions keep the spark alive. Hungary '56 and Czecho '68 failed- in the short term. But the embers reignited in Poland '82 and bloc-wide in '89 (and Pope and President were *not* silent).
The real question in Iran right now is the Army. If, as forecast, today Khameini orders a Tinemen-style crackdown, will the Army obey? Will some elements openly revolt? (Historical context: the CIA operation against Mossadegh was an admitted failure. It was the largely Royalist army which restored the Shah to his throne).
"All the Iranian protesters want is moral support from America. All Obama wants is to be excused from giving them that support. Sorry, Mr. President, but you can't vote "present" whenever the going gets tough."
Even Democrats in Congress are expressing support for the protesters:

Hence, I couldn't blame the general public from eventually concluding that the President is either indecisive, self-centered, or too sympathetic with Iran's dictator.
Heck, so far, a few European countries have expressed support for the protestors… and OBama was just twiddling his thujmbs. All he had to do was take a stand instead of 'Uh, er, uhm… We'll, uhm, er… "
The Prez doesn't even bother voting "Present". He's still out campaigning, as evidenced by his many TV appearances…
Were you looking in a mirror, ricky?
What I find amusing and sad is that only now the left suddenly seems interested in human rights abuses in Iran. I notice that HuffPo is all ga-ga over the new film that came out recently criticizing the treatment of women by Islamic fundamentalism, and all my Lib friends are suddenly being righteous in their anger at such abuses. I guess now that the President is critical about such things (or at least "the right kind of President" for I seem to remember the last one being of the same opinion) it's now fashionable to be critical of such extremist regimes. My question to the Libs is this: Where were you when Ahmed Batebi was being held in confinement and tortured? Where were you when people like Ayan Hirsi Ali was calling for action against such abuses? Do you even know who Ahmed Batebi is? What about Theo vanGhoh? He and Ali made the first film protesting the treatment of women by fundamentalist Islam. Oh but they were the "wrong kind of people" I guess. The fashionable hypocrisy of the left disgusts me.
The flippin' FRENCH have expressed support for the protestors, for God's sake!
Provided we still have elections in 2012.
Charles Krauthamer's column today (June 19) hits the nail directly:
Obama is ready to trade taking advantage of a brief window of opportunity to bring about the downfall of the Theocratic thuggocracy which has destabilized the Middle East for the past 30 years, and which is one of the prime sponsors for Islamo-fascism worldwide, in the vain hope of getting a photo-op of himself with the chosen stooge of the mullahs signing a nuclear treaty, the terms of which the Iranians will break before the ink had dried.
God have mercy on those brave, doomed Iranian people so bravely taking to the street. Their blood will be on The One's hands.
It will fail with or without me.
Not at all kind sir.
