Air Force One, Flaps Up!

I was amused when the White House announced that it was going to look into the whole flap surrounding the buzzing of The Statue of Liberty and Lower Manhattan by Air Force One a few days ago.
The White House announced that it was unaware of the plan to scare the pants off of half of one of America’s busiest cities and had “just found out about it.” Really, is someone out joyriding in the president’s plane around New York without permission? What if there had been a national emergency and he had to rush out to Edwards AFB.
“Hey, where is my ride?”
“We’re not sure, Mr. President” but we are looking into it and should have a reasonable idea within three weeks.”
They also failed to tell the Mayor and other city and state safety departments about their antics. I wonder if they clued in the FAA. Air traffic control may have been having a bit of a heart attack too. Two unidentified fighter jets and a 747 dropping down to 1000 feet isn’t something they see every day. Maybe Maverick and Goose hijacked the plane and buzzed the tower without permission.
The White House said it was going to have a thorough investigation into how this happened and should have some results in two weeks. Though it may not seem so, this is really good news for the Bush Administration officials caught up in the “torture” witch hunt. If it is going to take the Obama Administration two weeks to find out who gave the thumbs up to barnstorming Wall Street I’m guessing the torture investigations will wrap up sometime around 2023.
I think I could get to the bottom of this in about two hours. I would call the pilot who flew the plane and say something like, “Who told you to go fly around the Statue of Liberty?” He would give me a name and I would work my way up the chain of command until I found the Rhodes Scholar who dreamed up this plan.
Here is the kicker. The Obama team prides itself in how they are so, twittered up, tech savvy and Internet geeky but apparently none of these folks have ever heard of a little think called Adobe Photoshop! Forget flying around New Your Harbor. I could have shown The President’s jet sitting in the middle of the Rose Bowl, buzzing Kim Jong Il’s palace or pulling the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders water-skiing across Crater Lake!
If you’re going to go for a photo op why not just put the President in the pilot’s seat doing his own flying. Maybe we could also Photoshop him flying the bird to the middle class taxpaying public when they are trying to send him a message. Wait, he’s already done that!

i personally agree. I think it is rather stupid. Whoever had this wonderful idea should have gone to the president correct? Obama should have known. Either way Obama needs to get out of the publicity and fashionable things. Quit focusing on youtube confrences and seeing how many times he as our president can appear shirtless on Magazines and actually do what a president does and run our country and give pride to the USA.
So that makes at least TWO big-ass jetliners that shouldn't be buzzing NYC, right?
I want to see the photos and or video supposedly taken during this "stunt". If there are no video or photos released then it's a good bet we have been lied to. I for one dont buy the updated photo BS. As Americans, and our money spent to to haunt this city even more, we better see what they say they were doing. Louis Caldera should have been fired and anyone else involved in this common sense breakdown. Who knows? Maybe Home Depot Joe Biden took it up for a spin?
Just as a very important point of fact, unless the airframe in the photo has TOTUS on board, it is identified as SAM (tail number) And without a doubt, the WH knew and approved of the mission. Just another example of his job is "above his paygrade"

Joy ride is exactly how I describe it. Okay, so the FAA, police dept, local DHS, and someone in the Mayor's office were informed, but were threatened with sactions and fines if they told anyone (like the Mayor or the public), Apparently, empty planes flying at 1000 ft over the Statue of Liberty is to remain top secret! Do you think they thought no one would notice?? Actually, the brainiacs at the White House Office of Military Affairs knew that there "might be a panic", but decided that the WH's need to have a new picture of AF1 and the Statue of Liberty overroad any panic that might ensue. They are not showing the pictures of thousands of people who were evacuated and were running for what they thought were their lives.
It just boggles my mind. I flip from hysterical laughter at the stupidity and anger at the fact they just scare the s**t out of thousands of people for a photo op! All Our Dear Leader can muster is that it was a "mistake and it won't happen again". GEE, THANKS!!!

And as there are 2 of these aircraft, a "stand in" may fit.
However lets focus on the $325,000 it cost to pull this stunt and that does not cover the cost

There are two planes, and BOTH travel with him to whatever desitnation he is going to. They have done this for years, just in case there is a problem.
The White House higher ups HAD to have known this was happening on that day, as they must schedule the President's travel. At the very least, the chief of staff knew, and more likely than not it was discussed at various scheduling meetings.
Why the secrecy? So people wouldn't know how much it cost, or how utterly frivolous this administration is, or the fact that Obama entertains a degree of self-regard that would make the Sun King blanch?
I'll tell you this. I am not a fanciful person. But I watched both WTC towers come down on 9/11 in real time, looking out the window of my own apartment in Lower Manhattan, pregnant with my first baby, and knowing my husband worked a block away. (Yes, he walked home, covered in cremation dust.) When I watched some of the video clips of this stupid stunt, I admit I felt very queasy.
Actually in a strange sort of way, I like it better when he isn't at his desk doing his job. Somehow I feel like things are being put off, and he may run out of time before he really puts his nasty stuff in play, ie. electronic tracking devices implanted on everyone, putting the youth corp (loyal to obama) in motion, taking over Walmart, firing Biden and putting Chavez in his place. Yes the ToDo list for obama is long, the more time he spends away from the office the better.
Bottom line, it doesn't really matter how many planes they have that can serve as Air Force One. It was a stupid stunt that freaked out a lot of people and Obama acts like what? I didn't know anything about any of this… which makes him look like an idiot no matter what you believe. Not that the MSM is spending too much time fretting about the issue or anything.

Both planes must be available when the POTUS flies, as to provide backup for the primary and to act as a decoy, to require enemy action that destroys both aircraft to accomplish the enemy's mission.
So, we know Vendi Mocha wasn't going flying that day. And since presidential flight details are planned to the minute, we also know it wasn't going to be needed for anything for awhile.
But that VC-25A is representative of the country as a whole, and isn't driven around the block to impress the high school cheerleaders. It has to be prepped, and it has to be maintained afterwards, and because the saviouring one does use it, that plane has to be signed in and out, just in case someone scratches the paint and has to be held liable. This is normal.
Which means someone let it off the chain, and they have a name, and they had a reason why. They told the FAA, because NYC has some of the busiest airspace in the world, and they have national treasures, and they had 9/11, and everyone has to know where everything is at all times there.
So, just standing there and shrugging your shoulders and saying, "beats me why its up there" is as bald face a lie as 2+2=5. And if the procedures are so lax that the VC-25A is flying around for a "three-hour tour" and no one in the White House knows why, why is the POTUS using it? Kinda bad security, dont'cha think?
My theory? Vendi Mocha signed off on a reward trip for the big money donors, a supersized "Lincoln Bedroom", you might say, where everyone got a "happy ending" without popping in and out of the White House where they could be seen, and covered it as a "photo-op" to make it happen.
I think NYFD needs surface to air missles! Maybe the military was practicing on how to take out AF-1 should they deem it necessary to do so!
You're confusing the White House with the President. The fact that the appropriate WH staff member approved the flight isn't news. Your apparent assumption that the President knew about it is foolish. POTUS doesn't have to know about or approve PR activities.

the only shots i've seen are from the ground, from a distance, with the fighter trailing behind- so it doesn't appear the F-15 jockey was pulling double-duty for the WH promo office. what kind of photo-op shots were they supposed to be getting? shots of the statue of liberty from the cockpit of USAF1? or were there photographers up in the torch or otherwise positioned to capture the flyby?
and no matter what the answers are to these questions, it was an absolutely ASININE thing to do. wasteful, arrogant, elitist, hypocritical, insensitive to the citizenry. yup, the whole mission has Barry's fingerprints all over it all right…

What's "USAF1"? (Hint: There's no such thing) The shots would be taken from another plane orbiting over the statue, not one of the fighter escorts. This isn't the first time this particular image has been shot.

Charles Schumer already made the statement that Bush's FAA head had ruined the agency and that was the cause of the problem.

Any plane a POTUS is on is Air Force 1, But there are only 2 in the world that are that equipped like that to Run A Nuclear WW3, with the worlds most powerful Nuclear Network, and keep the POTUS as much "In the Know" as these 2 aircraft. Did the pilot keep a straight face when told of this flight plan.

What about the question: Were there any democratic big wig donors on that flight? Why hasn't anyone asked wether or not that flight was a private joy ride for people who gave money to Obama? Imagine how the equation would change if that was the real reason for that flight and the pictures were going to be given to the people on the flight to commemorate it. Why isn't anyone running this angle down? How about this question: Is the Obama administration now in cover up mode to protect the fact that this was a private joy ride for campaign contributers and they are allowing the outrage about the buzzing of New York to help cover up the real reason for the flight? Please, someone with the know how please look into this.

I'll have to ask my future father-in-law what his opinion of the Century jets was, he first flew combat in Phantoms but probably knew some people that got to play with Delta Darts and Daggers.
