Speaking Obama

In the past few days there have been several reports about officials, high and low, using new politically correct language to describe things which have been around awhile. The best example is the new head of the Department of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano, refusing to use the word “terrorist.” She preferred describing terrorist actions as “Man Caused Disasters.” The problem with politically correct speech is that it hides the obvious. Even Big Freakin’ Hillbillies like me understand an illegal immigrant is someone who broke the law to get into this country. We of simple minds get confused when folks from the Ivy League start describing them as “migrants.” To us, migrants are plain spoken folk, those who waited in line, did the right thing and came here in accordance with our laws.
In order for us morons on the right to understand the newspeak of the Obama administration I offer this glossary of terms before and after being “Obamized.” Feel free to add to my list while you are still able.

One of the things you learn as a lawyer is that you can affect an argument by subtly changing the terminology. That's why plaintiffs attorneys call car accidents "collisions" and they find passive ways of describing activities — "that's when the vehicle was struck." Notice that no one actually struck the vehicle in that sentence.
These subtle changes can be very effective in terms of manipulating people into seeing events from your perspective. But the key to making this work is subtlety. The word choice must be natural and it must go unnoticed. When you do what these Obozos are doing, just trying to impose an in-artful and obvious term in place of an existing and readily understood word, all you do is emphasize what you are trying to hide.

Upcoming redefinitions:
"Capitalists" are "economic terrorists" (see liberal economic theories)
"Terrorists" are "political moderates" (the search for moderate Taliban)
"Moderates" are "non-genocidal socialists" (see Obama's campaign rhetoric)
"Terrorism" is "spreading the wealth around" (You have what we think is ours, so we are "reclaiming" it.)
If you notice logical inconsistencies in this list, they're liberal ones so they obviously do not exist.
OLD: Bushitler did it
NEW: Bushitler did it
Terrorists = Man-Made Disaster activists
Bush-Cheney-Rove = Axis of Evil
Responsible person who did not try to obtain a mortgage because they thought they had to be able to afford to pay the mortgage= Bigger Chump

Because the SUV crashed into a house of it's own volition, no one is at fault but the evil auto manufacturers and the evil Darth Bush.
A clever and devious lot we are. I also learned as a criminal defense attorney that when a police officer testified, I was never to call him "Officer" on cross-exam. I simply called him "Mister." That was so I wouldn't implant the idea in the mind of the jury that his position as an officer of the law made him more believable than the story my lowlife client was trying to pass off on them. As this article explains, words can indeed be both a sword and a shield. Like using "mister" instead of "officer," politically correct Obamaspeak is a sword to cut off debate. and a shield against the truth.

On the other side of the newspeak, I've been keeping track of words we can no longer say.
That's absolutely true. You can show respect or disrespect in very minor ways, and people pick right up on it — unless you do it inartfully or in an obvious manner. Whether you use an expert's title or call them by their first name is another good example.
Even in politics, the right words can frame a debate to be a winner or loser. Take the phrase, "partial birth abortion." The term alone won the issue because anyone who heard it could visualize it and see right away (without any further discussion) that they opposed it.
That's what the Obama people are trying to do, change the terms of the debate by changing the words. (In fact, this has been an obsession with the left for year). What they don't get though, is that their efforts are too "clinical" and too "obvious" to work. Using your example, they wouldn't just drop the "officer" title, they would replace it with "Criminal Punishment Advocate". No jury will buy that.

None of these words have *actually* been used by Obama. And in any event, the majority of them, like "defending the constitution" are not topics that the Bush administration were very apt to use.

Yeah, we are in the liberal world of verbal gymnastics, you know what the meaning of is, is? Everything is relative, everything has a morale equivalent all words are open for debate. What usually happens in our new liberal wussification, is the country gets wrapped up in emotional knots coming off like indecisive idiots cowering in a dark corner sucking our proverbial thumbs. The only people that it fools are the hypnotized, and when this nightmare with Barry passes, and it will, we’ll just spank them, and send them to their rooms.
They might if you called them "Innocent Victim Oppressor." Hmmmm, too late for me to try that one. The other thing we did is to avoid calling our clients "the defendant" or "my client." Too clinical. We always used the same "mister" as we used for the police officer. If my client was sufficiently non-scummy, I would sometimes even use his first name. "Jimmy" or "Bobby" had a better sound to the jury's ear than "the rapist," or "the murderer."

Passive Voice has the following construction:
Object (as Subject) —BE verb–(any tense)—Object (formerly the Subject).
It must have these qualities to qualify as passive voice. Passive voice takes the action out of the subject & places it on the object
I knew I forgot something:
Object (as Subject)—BE verb+Ed–Subject (formerly the Object)
Islam = Religion of Peace
Christianity = Religion of Bitter Gun Clingers
Tax Cheat = Selective Tax Payer; see also Obama Cabinet member or candidate

Obama did this well himself when he would describe Sarah Palin not as the Governor of Alaska, but rather the mayor of Wasilly. He degraded her job title, and also made fun of the town she is from, by making the name sound ridiculous. I am one of those people who listens to what people say very closely, due to hearing problems, so words do matter to me, and the why behind the choice of them. I was on a jury trial one time, and everyone hated me. I refused to just end things, I knew we were being sold a bill of goods. I was right, but I think my fellow jurors were planning on my body disappearing.

If the dems want to redefine concepts, then every possible moment the conservatives are in public, on the floor of the congressional houses, they should counter with the proper dictionary-leaning phrase. Never call it gloval warming or climate change. Never use ay one of the PC phrases. Then followup with the true definition to clarify and get it on the books. Anything that makes the propaganda PC version look dumbass.
We must keep in mind that Bam Bam, his buddies in senate, house and executive administration all studied Propaganda 101, 102, … 999 under the Chicoms, Ruskies, Castro. They're just doing just like the rest of the communist governments have done for dcades – only in English. Propaganda is a way to cloud the truth to where it's not recognizable to the public A warning to those who don't want to be decieved: Get a good non-PC dictionary, a copy of the Constitution and use these to keep your head straight and same for you kids.
