Ashley Judd Shows Off Her Public Education
by Jeffrey JenaI grew up in a small town in Eastern Kentucky. There were two major industries there - an oil company and a steel mill, and yet I’m only the seventh most famous person from that town.
There was Henry Clay back in the pre-Civil War day who was a senator and known as “The Great Compromiser, ¨ which means he was the John McCain of his day with no core beliefs he wouldn’t drop for the sake of getting along.
Ashland Kentucky also produced that achy breaky Billy Ray Cyrus, game show host Chuck Woolery and three Judds. Ashley Judd wasn’t born there but lived back in the land where coal meets iron off and on as she was growing up. Ashley went on to study at The University of Kentucky where she majored in anthropology, theater and woman’s studies, which meant she was destined for Hollywood, a counseling job at the U of K student center or management at the local McDonalds.
Fortunately for Ms. Judd the whole Hollywood thing worked out for her and she is now beginning a new career as a political activist. While I have often said to that the greatest thing about America is that we have the right to be as stupid as we want, Ms. Judd has recently demonstrated that we in Kentucky have a way to go before we shuck off our image as being one of the less literate states.
Here are some of her recent pronouncements on the state of affairs in the country. She kicked off her trifecta of stupid back in September by declaring that “a woman who votes for McCain-Palin is like a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders.” Got it? In Ms. Judd’s world any woman who is not for a strict liberal agenda is a moron. This is how she’s reaching out to the right and uniting the country under her new hero President Obama. Have you ever noticed that when a leftie talks about coming together or uniting the country or ending partisan politics that what they really mean is that conservatives should drop their core beliefs and do what the left wants? When Bush was in the White House dissent was their patriotic duty. Now if you’re not lock step with the BHO agenda you’re an irrational, obstructionist fascist.
I wonder if Ms. Judd is on board with Barack´s latest idea to limit salaries to $500,000? I was just wondering how much she made for her last picture. I am pretty sure some Hollywood types had their hands out for some government money. I am sure if you figured it out what Judd’s salary is on a year basis is was well over the top CEO money.
After the election she made a snarky comment about how now that Bush was out of office it was nice to be living in America again. I have to be honest here and admit I wasn’t crazy about everything Bush did while in office. In fact, in a past blog I named him the greatest Democrat President ever. But she was speaking about “reproductive rights,” which is politically correct speak for unfettered abortion. I challenge her to find one woman in this country who was prevented from or prosecuted for having an abortion the past eight years. As easy as it is to toss around accusations in this country, I wonder how long Ms. Judd’s political activism and support of women and gay rights would play in Tehran?
Then this week Ashley voiced an ad for a far left animal rights group protesting Governor Palin’s support for aerial wolf hunting. Again, I don’t know what world Ms. Judd lives in where the lives of wolves are more important to her than the lives of unborn children, but since she supports unfettered abortion and opposes the killing of wolves one must assume in her morality wolves trump kids.
Since the killing of arctic wolves is necessary to protect other animals, I suppose she even has a hierarchy of animals that need protection. I´d hate to see where right wing nut jobs like me finish on her food chain.

Ken,
Col. Saunders is a character in the Mel Brooks classic "Spaceballs".
LOL Lola, don’t you mean lets see who comes out alive?
What do you know about Tehran? They are more tolerant there of women than in Israel where they are made to sit at the back of the bus or get beaten.
She does have pretty nice feminists though.
Great call on the anthropology women’s studies combo. Ugh… worse than useless.
what the world needs is a children’s book telling the story of “grizzly man” from the bear’s perspective.

Ashley’s motto: Save the wolves! Kill the babies!
@Trent
I do believe you have Israel mixed up with Pakistan. I have friends in Israel, yes women, who live quite freely except for the constant bombings from their peaceful greedy neighbors.
Ashley Judd is a spoiled Hollywood know nothing. She is simply seeking attention. There is a term for it but I don’t use such words.
If *THAT* is what a feminist looks like…then I’m Alan Alda.
Attacking Palin is just a way to up Ashley’s Hollywood status since her career is waning.
Ms. Judd’s opinions are totally consistent. Wolves = good. Caribou, mouse, rabbits = bad. Terrorists = good. American infants = bad.
Just remember, what makes a good actor is the ability to recite words with convincing sincerity which one neither believes nor even understands. The level of stupidity necessary to do this in daunting. Of course these people love Obama, he is one of them.
Best regards,
Gail S
“Let’s” is the contraction for “let us”.
The title should be “Ashley Judd Lets Her Public Education Show”.
You should not make grammatical errors in the same sentence in which you ridicule a persons education if you want to be taken seriously.
I was raised just up the river from Ashland, KY, in Ohio. When people in that region of Appalachia hear someone like Ashley Judd spout off, they roll their eyes and keep on working. They don’t suffer foolishness like that for long. (Unless you’re an Ohio University student).
It is amazing that all the libs suddenly want us to rally around BO, our new annointed one.
These are the same birds who declared GWB the great Satan. Then, opposition to the govt was moral and a duty.
The 180 flip is pretty astonishing.
Hmmm, must be something in the water in Hollywood.
Mr. Jena, agree wholeheartedly with your views on Ashley Judd. Bravo.
HOWEVER, before titling a post “Ashley Judd Let’s Her Public Education Show,” suggest you do a grammar check of your post. For example:
“Ashley want on to study at The University of Kentucky…” I’m sure you meant “went” vice “want.”
“While I have often said to that the greatest thing about America…” Unsure if that “to” was meant to be “too” or simply deleted.
“I am sure if you figured it out what Judd’s salary is on a year basis is was well over the top CEO money.” One too many “is’s” I think?!
well, obviously she’s an idiot, so she could act in a few movies, we all do our jobs well, doesn’t mean we have the right to push our beliefs on others…she is no different than all these other Hollywood Idiots
ANGYou should not make grammatical errors in the same sentence in which you ridicule a persons education if you want to be taken seriously.
Mr. Pot, you need a possessive apostrophe in that there sentence.
In the photo above, Ashley Judd neck is all wrinkly yet her face is as smooth as a baby’s bottom. Botox freezes the neuron’s too which explains her babbling.
Liberals always support killing babies. Why?
They also support mass murderers like Castro and Saddam, Why?
Kill animals equals bad but kill babies is good according to Ashley.
There really is good and evil and Ashley Judd is on the side of evil.
So, woman either sit in the back of the bus or get beaten in Israel? I believe it’s spelled IRAN.
Regarding the photo of said numbskull, I wonder what the cross around her neck is all about? Now, let’s talk about hyprocrisy…….
“Since the killing of arctic wolves is necessary to protect other animals…”
This sounds rather dubious to me. Doesn’t nature work these things out? Is it really “necessary” for people to kill animals in their natural habitat in order to protect other animals?
I saw Judd on Larry King yesterday. Contra how she is being portrayed by many commenters here, she came off as quite reasonable and normal.
i give kudos to judd, she got mcain down to a T(i’m not a supporete of mcain).this might be a little off subject.but the main reason liberals hate bush soo much is…he out liberaled them.spending their money first.stealing all their glory.under bush all government grew.he spent like a liberal, which was why conservatives had such a problem with bush.i guess grwowing the gov. is only good if your’e a liberal.the war was just another stream of criticism.liberals are a crisis oriented bunch, they move from crisis to crisis, harp on it,and if it sticks, they run their course.unity, compromise is a fallacy.you do not compromise or unify with anyone you deem beneath you.you subjugate them.which is precisely what today’s liberals seek to do.

Ashley’s shirt is a lie. Most feminists would have to have the word “FEMINIST” embossed on their belt if they wanted it to cross their breasts.
I’m just sayin’
This writer and her Greek chorus of commenters are the reason America is looked at with disdain throughout the world. Talk about anti-intellectualism. I grew up hunting and fishing in the woods in Oregon and I believe that aerial hunting of wolves is inhumane and unnecessary. As to the rest of your “trifecta”, it doesn’t bear scrutiny. Take a class in rhetoric, your argument stinks. Now I know to whom the term “Republican dead-enders” refers.

ya big dummy
MIKE T – February 7th, 2009 at 3:57 pm
“Let’s” is the wrong word. You meant to write “Lets”. Ironic how the article is about education.
“Ironic how” Really? In a post where you are correcting someone else? Maybe we should all have a class in sentence structure next.
When Gov. Palin came to campaign in my town this fall, guess who introduced her to the crowd? Ashley’s mom. I bet their holiday dinner conversation is as fun as the Baldwin’s.
In addition to being an idiot, Ashley Judd is one angry chick. She ruins the movie “Heat” because every time her face is on screen, you can just see the rage and anger (not her character) beneath the surface. She must be a real bitch on the set (and at home)!
She herself has admitted to having “anger issues.” Obviously therapy and Prozac have failed to alleviate her of this affliction.
You’re right about the $500,000 salary cap too. What are all these idiot liberals going to do when “Dear Leader” takes 90% of their earnings and confiscates their mansions for the proletariat? Fools!
This stimulus package is the first step toward a full blown communist government.
And it only took three weeks!
Give it a few more weeks before the “Censorship Doctrine” is brought up for a vote!
Can you say “Buyers Remorse?”
always the same mantra from “liberal elites” such as truth.conservative=un-intelligent.maybe you missed this class while attending harvard, what am i saying, they wouldn’t teach this harvard.the rest of the world looks on america with disdain only in the minds of the liberals in washington, the morons in hollywood, the clueless MSM,and ignorant,un-informed people like yourself.in case you hadn’t noticed the world is looking to america to fix the “global economic crisis”.yea, they hate us alright, america feeds them, clothes them, gives them medicines, free’s them, and now, even funds all their abortions.it is not the world that hates america,it is you!.
I know how to shut Ashley up. Just tell her that these wolves kill Wildcats. She’ll be there with Palin rising up the wolf body count.
That and abortion kills a wildcat fan.
If it’s one thing Ashley loves, it’s her UK Wildcats. She really loves them. If you know what I mean.
When Gov. Palin came to campaign in my town this fall, guess who introduced her to the crowd? Ashley’s mom. I bet their holiday dinner conversation is as fun as the Baldwin’s.
Oooooh, that’s interesting. I wonder if Ashely’s anti-Palin rantings are really some passive aggression directed at Mom? (I’m probably reading way too much into it. But it’s fun to ponder)
I think we should start a campaign to “Stop Ashley Judd and the savagery she promotes against the moose and caribou populations..also the starvation of the Alaskan people who depend on plentiful moose and caribou herds that have not been decimated by over-populated predator wolf packs.” I think Janine Turner should do the spot dressed as a bush pilot in Alaska.
Trent I HAVE BEEN to Israel. You are wrong wrong wrong…In Israel a woman is running for PM and they have ad a previous woman PM, they serve in the army attend college and sit in their version of the senate. It is in the Islamic countries where actions as you suggest occur, Iran, Saudi Arabia,Sudan,Pakistan etc…
The Judds do not have the best track record in picking political candidates to back. Grandma Polly was great allies and served on the city council with the convicted child pornographer mayor Paul Reeves.
Ashley disgraced the city of Ashland, riding in a convertible, sitting on the lap of Michael Bolton, and slobbering kisses all over him, during the Christmas Parade.
Very few in Ashland proudly proclaim that Ashley is from Ashland.
@Mr. Kettle and others-
I am not the one making fun of Ms. Judd and her education (or lack of education). I did notice my omission after I hit submit, but too late then. Oh well, it gives jackasses like Jeff a reason to live. Did I get “jackasses” right, Jeff?
My point is still painfully valid. If anyone is the pot calling the kettle black, it would be Mr. Jena. Maybe he could just edit the post so he doesn’t look so ridiculous.
For the record, my posts are in no way an endorsement of Ms. Judd and her silly position. I was just pointing out the hypocrisy of the title.
I want to know why Ms. Ashley Judd is not speaking out for the people who froze to death in her home state. You know the people that our new President has not even acknowledged but who flew past on his way to a Spa & Resort to be with his fellow Spend & Theft colleagues in the Democratic party. All I have to say is a quote by Kenye West with a little twist, “President Obama Hates White People.” Otherwise wouldn’t our new President and the O Obsessed Media be talking about the fact that more than 50 people have died from the recent Ice storm and that many of these rural people are still sitting in homes without electricity?
It’s sad how polarized our country has become. Neither left nor right seem to notice how far they have swung to their respective sides. Here, a self proclaimed “right wing nut job” takes the ideas and values of a “leftie” and mixes them up to attack them.
The liberal idea of abortion is one concentrating on what is best for the woman. A woman should have a right to abort if she so wishes. There is a big difference between the majority of people who support abortion rights and those in the minority who support late term abortions. And I can only presume that is what you meant by “unfettered”, late term. So check yourself before you go generalizing.
Speaking to the “far left animal groups” ad against aerial wolf hunting… hunting any animal the proper way, on the ground, with a rifle or bow and arrow, is acceptable (as long as it is in proper season and within the laws.) However, being in a helicopter, where there is no gaming sportsmanship, is hideous. An animal should have a fair chance to get away. Hell, why not just round the things up, allow people to choose the ones they want and herd them into a slaughterhouse?
Oh, and note, neither of those subjects have anything to do with the other.
And then there is the comment on the salary caps. Wow. Did Obama say anything about movies or television when he made this bid? It is a “salary cap on executives of stricken finance firms who plead for taxpayer bail-outs.” Last I checked, actors, film makers and other “Hollywood types” are NOT executives of stricken finance firms.
And finally, the paranoia and hypocrisy evident in the paragraph regarding unification and bipartisanship is almost thick enough to cut with a knife. You say, “Have you ever noticed that when a leftie talks about coming together or uniting the country or ending partisan politics that what they really mean is that conservatives should drop their core beliefs and do what the left wants? When Bush was in the White House dissent was their patriotic duty. Now if you’re not lock step with the BHO agenda you’re an irrational, obstructionist fascist.” Funny, we could say the same thing about you “right wing nut jobs.” You always want us to throw away women’s rights, keep them in pregnancies they don’t want. You want to shove Jesus (not God, big distinction) down our throats. You want to allow corporate America to do whatever they want, charge as much as they can for anything and everything. To pay the lowest taxes, though they often off-shore their earnings and don’t have to pay any taxes and/or outsource to other countries, not paying a single dime to an American, thereby making a lower class so poor they can hardly survive. Corporations that were so greedy, they allowed mortgages to those who should have been denied (even with the “handouts” Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were allowed to give, some should not have been allowed to purchase a home…) just to make the almighty buck. But no, it’s the poor person’s fault, isn’t it? It’s the left’s fault for being so liberal and wanting to help people. Yep, you’re right, we do want to help. And we expect those in a power to do so, help. Properly. Not take advantage and screw the entire US.
In conclusion, no. We don’t want you to drop your core beliefs and follow us. We want you to listen to us. Listen to what we believe and respect us for who we are. It must be hard to do either of those things behind your bibles and guns, but try. Bring what you have to the table and we’ll bring what we have. We can respect each others differences and work with them to find our way together. Otherwise, I fear a revolution none of us wants. Come with an open mind and open heart and we’ll do the same. I found it ironic you would think we are looking for the right to fall instep with the left when that’s NOT what Obama is looking for. As I recall, it was just yesterday he was saying he was recruiting Republicans on his team in order to have lively debate, not people blindly agreeing with him (I am greatly paraphrasing here, but hope you get the picture). So stop assuming and start listening.
How does this have anything to do with public education? And what is wrong with public education. Is what we say only valid if we have attended a private school?
No wonder we are having so many problems as a nation if we are going to be this partisan regarding education. Where did you go to school Mr. Jena?
ANG – February 7th, 2009 at 7:59 pm
Bwaaa-ha-ha. The “jackass” hit a nerve. Ha!
You wrote a nit-picky post about someone else’s grammar/spelling (an Internet no-no) and made a similar error yourself. Anyone but a total noob knows that if you’re going to pluck the splinter out of another poster’s eye you better take the log out of your own first or you’re going to get called on it (but it’s best if you just keep your plucking finger to yourself).
And so you got called on it.
And you whine and call names. And say “I knew I did it, but, uh…., uh….”
Why are you so quick to point out someone else’s mistake but so slow to correct your own? And why are you so slow to see the irony of your poorly worded and punctuated post commenting on someone else’s poor punctuation?
You may believe that your point is “painfully valid” (whatever the heck that means), but my point is more so. You shouldn’t point out other’s simple, stupid mistakes if you’re simply stupid.
Trent – February 7th, 2009 at 2:20 pm
What do you know about Tehran? They are more tolerant there of women than in Israel where they are made to sit at the back of the bus or get beaten.
____________________________________________________________________
This is so idiotic that it almost doesn’t merit a response. But there are a lot of idiots out there so it’s incumbent on reasonable people everywhere to correct and challenge outright liars. I’ll just say as politely as I can, Trent, you have no idea what you’re talking about. You are wrong, wrong, wrong.
As for Ms. Judd, I’ve read a couple of interviews with her and she’s a total narcissistic whack job. She’s not a diva, since divas have outsize talent to match their outsize personalities. And Ashley was always a mediocre actress at best. She may well be trying to revive her fading career. But she’s alienated a lot of her former fans in Kentucky in the process. She promised to sit in the North Carolina student section during this year’s UK-UNC basketball game if NC went for Obama. It did and she made good on her promise. I think that was the beginning of the end for her with a lot of people in basketball-made Kentucky.
There is so much wrong with that article, and even more with the comments left on it that it’s funny. Right wing nut job is right! LOL
So Jeffrey,
I’m guessing your non-public education included the use of the word “let’s” instead of (the correct) “lets?”
An author who doesn’t know the difference between “let’s” (let us) and “lets” (allows) is criticizing someone about her lack of education?!?
colleen, your partisanship is showing.you do the same things you claim conservatives do,that being name calling.right wing this, left wing that.the fact is nobody is “forcing” jesus on you.you stand on your soapbox shouting “respect our ideas, and we’ll respect yours”.that is a complete lie.you need to look up the definition of “recruit”,it is not to have “lively debate”.but to enlist, join up,who’s doing the “recruiting”,obama.he wants them to join him, follow him,his directions.so in order for republicans to join him, they have to drop their own beliefs, and take on his.
for your information,it was not “greedy CEO’S” making bad mortgages to fleece the people.but your loving liberals in congress that forced banks to make these loans.fannie and freddie are gov. agencies, not private.
big corporations and the extremely wealthy pay the lions share of taxes in this country.not the poor.so stop with the “class warfare” rhetoric,it is quite old.the poor pay no taxes at all,yet get everything from the gov.(that is every american that has their income confiscated by the gov. you and me).
some people believe that murder is murder, murder by any other name(abortion)is still murder.because we believe this you say we are “forcing jesus” on you.give me legislation where jesus is forced on you.is not roe v wade forced on us(that dont believe in abortion).a bit hypocritical dont you think.
your’e views on corporate america are quite naive.no company can charge whatever they want for anything.the market(you and i) decide fair market price.they can only charge what the consumer is willing to pay.capitalism is not greed.damn,i thought this was the land of opportunity,a place where you can make your dreams come true.it still is,but when it happens for you, everyone else will hate you for it,why, because you have more than they do.never mind the fact that you worked you backside off to get it.and heaven forbid you leave it to your children, those spoiled rotten brats, that never do any real work the entire lives.they just live off their inheritences.
The problem is that Oregon was never chosen for part in the gray wolf reintroduction project. According to the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW), “Oregon does not have sufficient contiguous wolf habitat of adequate size to support wolves on a year-round basis without livestock damage problems.”
Interesting what can be found with a little googling. Oregon has a handful of wolves and no packs of them, and even *that* is only since 2002. And yet… wildlife management in Oregon is just like wildlife management in Alaska.
Because you know… OREGON IS JUST LIKE ALASKA.
Let’s set the limit on hunting wolves to one less than the number of unfettered abortions currently allowed every year. Then the Save the Wolves People come out ahead.
However, being in a helicopter, where there is no gaming sportsmanship, is hideous. An animal should have a fair chance to get away. Hell, why not just round the things up, allow people to choose the ones they want and herd them into a slaughterhouse?
Yes, why don’t we do that Colleen? It’s not a GAME after all.
It’s not about being fair. Not even for a moment. It’s about culling the wolf population so that more baby caribou live. It’s about killing them.
It’s not about SPORT. It’s not about FAIRNESS. It’s about baby caribou and moose calves and other large herbivores getting a break for a while so that more of them are not wolf snacks right after birth.
Fall surveys of the Southern Alaska Peninsula caribou herd completed in October found an average of 39 calves per 100 cows. That’s a dramatic improvement from fall counts of only 1 calf per 100 cows in 2006 and 2007.
Easy google.
But really… it’s much more FAIR that only 1 baby caribou lives.
I think that the lack of gaming sportsmanship in abortions is hideous. Abortions should only be legal when the fetus is big and strong enough to “have a fair chance to get away.”
Wolves are killers! Kill them!
Actors are stooooopid!
Anyone who disagrees with me is doody head! LOL!
Why doesn’t ashley stick to a subject she knows well, like…shoplifting?
I think it’s increasingly hysterical how many people post to point out the lets/let’s thing without reading all the previous iterations of the same correction in the comments before they do so.
Trent, you obviously haven’t a clue about how it is for women in Islamic countries. That is one of the most ridiculous statements on the subject I have ever read.
Lola, you go girl.
Colleen,
“We want you to listen to us. Listen to what we believe and respect us for who we are. It must be hard to do either of those things behind your bibles and guns, but try.”
Love the irony there. You want us to listen to you and respect you for who you are… right after you list a lot of stereotypes (I’ll assume that the second sentence I quoted is a dig at then-Senator Obama’s fundraising in the California Bay area).
Yes, there are a lot of people on both sides of the spectrum who do not listen to others. Based on what you wrote, I believe you are one of them.
I am perfectly willing to listen to and respect someone with whom I disagree, as long as they show me the same courtesy. If you know of anyone like that, send them over.
Seems that the “environmentalists” need to have a little talk with some conservationists.
“Mamma got the looks, Sister got the talent, But. what did Ashley get?”
A bitter and lingering inferiority complex.
So, we have "concise" political commentary coming from a woman who has done mostly "woman chased by seriel killer" movies that are more worthy of an MST3K showing than anything else.
Oy Vey.
Thank you, Tami Bell, for your informative comment. I was throwing out questions, not claiming to know the answers for sure, and you answered them with facts rather than insults.
Yawn. Rush Limbaugh is already taken. If you can’t say anything original, witty, or smart, it’s best to keep your mouth shut.
What an awesome excuse you have to attack Ashley Judd. After all, she’s actually doing something. You’re just putting down YAL (Yet Another Liberal). Wow, good for you. Oh wait, Rush already did that.
Well have a great week. You are VERY VERY FORTUNATE that your employers really don’t care that you have nothing to say and don’t say it well. That means you can continue to froth at the mouth repeating things Rush said a few momnths ago, just change the name of the person you’re picking on — Ashley “I have talent and my films speak for themself and hey have you noticed I’m not a plagiaristic blogger” judd– so keep on going.
Best of luck with that. When you go home to your kids perhaps you can get some respect by telling them you’re an adopt-a-monkey handler. After all, that way they won’t associate you with plagiarism, Rush’ism, or being an idiot.
Mark
Colleen – were you being sarcastic or do you really believe Obama EVER wanted unity and bipartisanship? Seriously. This is why our country is polarized – half are in a trance believing every utterance from the mouth of a man who had nothing to lose but everything to gain. Half see that man as the shallow, manipulative leftist that he really is. His words mean less than nothing. His writing, his voting record, his church and his political ideology mean everything. Pay attention. He is, has been, and will be a committed Marxist. He uses the lure of ‘unity’ and ‘hope’ to keep your half of the country salivating for a miracle. My half doesn’t believe in miracles by way of the USG. Or the White House. He is not, in any way, a Uniter. He will ultimately be the greatest divider in our history – his is is the politics of the far left, politics that have failed and destroyed every country they took hold of. If you believe in your heart that Obama truly never heard Wright say anything inflammatory, you are a lost cause.
Colleen,
Tell me the magical moment (exactly now) when the woman’s FETUS, which clearly you must consider her property, turns into a human life.
Since abortion discards a fetus it must be property. Since a woman delivers a baby, it must be a human life.
So, exactly when is it that it is OK to rip out the property from your womb?? When is it not?
I await your clarification/
Ashley Judd is not woman enough to clean Sarah Palin’s rifle!
Sitting here in Ashland KY, I have to say there’s nothing wrong with Ashley’s education; it’s how she’s chosen to use it. Please don’t blame us, we spent 2008 listening to Obama supporters and the media [redundant, I know] insult us for supporting Hillary, then McCain.
BTW, you’ll be happy to know that Ashley has aligned herself with Kentuckians For The Commonwealth, which started as a grassroots environmental group based in E KY, but now spends as much time on voter registration. Ashley will be Frankfort Tuesday demonstrating with KFTC. Waiting for more sound bites….
the judd girl dont even know who her father is, did you read her mothers book? who is she to even speak out about any thing or any one>? who listens to this half twit low class girl from a slum neighborhood. she must think her self cute, but mis judd, you are far from cute, after jan fonda looses her face from the tv she is done, who would go see her in a movie? ever one i know say the same thing, no more movies with her face in it, you are done girl,,,,
You’re right about the $500,000 salary cap too. What are all these idiot liberals going to do when “Dear Leader” takes 90% of their earnings and confiscates their mansions for the proletariat? Fools!
I seem to remember the stimulus package having a Hollywood loophole. I wouldn’t put it past “Dear Leader” making a loophole for Hollywood’s elite earners, too. Perhaps this is what they’re banking on.
I can still earn millions, but others (evil business owners) mustn’t.
Oh, and to all you Grammar Nazis–if there are any spelling or punctuation errors in this post, they are done on purpose. I am of Navajo heritage and must have at least one screw-up per post to let the evil spirits escape. So don’t mock me or you’re being intolerant of my people.
If the govt can cap salaries in one area, then they can in all. Start with Hollywood please.
Fro many years I use to visit my aunt and uncle in Huntington, WV, just across the river from Ashland. I always thought of Ashland as a laid-back small town, with Ashland Oil right on I64.
There must be some strange water in Hollywood, as Ashley couldn’t have developed her political view in KY.
Come to think of it the city water in Hollywood HAS always tasted a bit funny – I think the nation’s bottled water industry started in Los Angeles.
I think I may be on to something here…
Regarding that photo: Nice Judds!!
The wolf culling had been going on long before Gov. Palin became Gov. So the attack on Palin was simply a Hollyweird stunt to get their agenda across to fellow Ozombies (and it usually works).
Her next cause de’celeb will be to outlaw the catching of fish because it’s a national crisis!!
Great article and interesting comments although, I’m sure dead babies and marauding wolves don’t care about grammar.
I’m always taken aback by celebrities using that Spencer’s Joke Shop Custom balloon lettering on their statement shirts.
Can’t they at least pony up the money to get an artist and use Cafepress at least?
They all just look so hokey with those 70’s press on letters.
I wonder if Naomi Judd ever regrets choosing to give birth to that waste of carbon.
It’s OK, Naomi–you couldn’t have known.
WHAT I LOVE IS DEMOCRATS WHO BLAME GWB FOR THE ECONOMY NOW. THEY FORGET THE DEM’S HAVE CHAIRED THE OVERSIGHT COMMITTEES FOR BANKING ANS FINANCE SINCE WINNING BACK CONGRESS IN 2006. WHERE HAVE THEY BEEN? CRITICIZING GWB – NOT DOING SQUAT ABOUT THE PENDING MELTDOWN.
THE LEFT CLAIMS BUSH WAS IN THE POCKET OF BIG BUSINESS, YET HE SIGNED INTO LAW THE MOST REGULATORY BUSINESS LEGISLATION OF THE LAST 25 YEARS (IT’S CALLED SARBANES-OXLEY). IT WAS THE BUSH AG THAT PROSECUTED KEN LAY AND BERNIE EBBERS AND THE REST OF THE CORPORATE CRIMINALS WHO RAN WILD DURING THE CLINTON YEARS.
I LIVE IN HOLLYWOOD. YOU CAN’T IMAGINE WHAT IT’S LIKE HERE. THESE PEOPLE ARE SO FAR GONE, SO OUT OF TOUCH WITH THE REST OF AMERICA – YET THEY CLAIM TO KNOW BEST. I WONDER HOW BARBARA STREISAND OR GEORGE CLOONEY WOULD LIKE THEIR PAY CAPPED AT $500K .
THE ONLY TIME I LIKE ASHLEY JUDD IS WHEN SHE STROLLS ACROSS THE OSCAR STAGE WITHOUT HER PANTIES. YOU GO GIRL
Drew-I can only imagine that this was because Bush was awful. Come on, we had an uneducated, unelected, saber-wielding retard in office.
Yale, Havard MBA, elected twice, second time by a wide margin
Facts keep getting in the way. As far as sabre rattling is concerned, you do remember 911 don’t you? Shoot, people here were called for a nuclear bomb blast over the general area where Bin Laden was believed to be.
I think we all loved the sabre rattling when we felt threatened.
Funny, when folks want us to believe that BO is brilliant, they say, Harvard. Ditto for Matt Damon (did not graduate). GWB, oh, he’s a moron.
Go figure.
ANG:
Of course you meant to write: “a person’s education”.
Parakletus
Ah, I see that others have spotted that silly hypocrisy.
It appears it was a waste of time to post here. It appears all of you have drunk your side’s Kool-aid as much as you assume I have on my side. None of you are willing to unite. None of you are willing to listen or respect. You assume, because I am a “leftist liberal” I don’t listen or respect. And you are wrong. I have lively debate with conservative Republicans often. It is healthy to do so. But in a respectful way. Not the way you have chosen to attack me here. If you want to RESPECTFULLY discuss ideas, let me know. I’m aware you won’t, though, because you don’t respect me or my beliefs. It is evident in your writing.
By the way, those of you accusing me of calling people names… note I was quoting the article (that’s what “…” means). It seems the education of the masses has gone wanting.
Enjoy your Hate Fest. I am happy to leave you to it. Most of you are hypocrites who want the liberals to drop what they believe and fall in lock step with you while whining that is what we want of you. You have created a no win situation. And with this type of attitude, we will always be polarized. I suppose we should just accept it.
@Colleen
((eye roll))
When you throw stones saying that conservatives are “shoving Jesus down your throat” you’re not trying to have a reasonable discussion, you’re baiting people. And if I’m wrong, please show me an example of the right forcing Jesus on you. In fact, I’d love for you to cite examples of Hollywood (since that’s the focus of this site) shoving any conservative values on you. Is Jesus hiding out somewhere in “Sex in the City” and I’m just not seeing him? “Desperate Housewives?” What about so-called “reality-tv?” What conservative values do you see being pimped by “The Hills” this week?
Just curious.
I know we’re not serving your flavor of Kool-aid here. Go back to HuffPo, they have all you can drink.
mark parity:
can you be more ignorant.we parrot what rush said moments ago.you don’t know rush, listen to rush,or read anything that rush would write.if you did,you would have known that he was off all week long.he has not said a single word on anything, let alone comment on an obvious idiot such as judd.
colleen: yet again, here you are…whining and crying about something you did not get,and at the same time refused to give.respect for one’s beliefs.you were not quoting from the article, you were giving your opinions on how you see conservatives, christian ones at that.
mark:
what exactly was it that you wrote that was original, witty,or smart.you need to take your own advise, and keep your mouth shut.the only thing judd has done is make a fool of herself, and show tremendous hypocracy in her’s and liberals beliefs.
quote:”it feels good to live in America again”speaking on how Obama reversed bush’s ban on federal funding for abortions across the world.she is vehemently “pro-choice”.what her,Obama, and all the others dontand won’t tell you about all the botched abortions, where the babies were born alive, then left to die by doctors and nurses alike.they lie about this happening.they don’t value any life, they only value the “cause”.
@FYI
I don’t think reality has much to do with how liberal see the world.
It’s interesting. I was raised by two very liberal parents. My dad was absolutely rabid in his support of abortion and it wasn’t until I was older that I realized he must have been “saved” from the responsibility of an unwanted pregnancy.
But what my parents really taught me is that liberalism is really the cult of selfishness. I feel like the American way of life was hijacked by the Boomer generation. They of the “free love” and “sex, drugs and rock n’ roll.” My parents talked a lot of the talk about wanting a better world and voting for the “caring” Democrat presidents while they cheated on their taxes. They spent extravagantly and never saved a dime toward retirement and ended up with nothing– only to then blame a government that “owed” them health care and a comfortable retirement; all that after fleecing one of their children for $100k. Great examples my parents.
And don’t even get me started on abortion. What could be more selfish than thinking a woman’s (or a man’s) convenience is more important than a human life?
I often think the left’s obsession with animal rights is mostly a smoke screen. A way to feel somehow high-minded and compassionate after the contempt they show for human life in the womb.
I could go on and on.
Ms Judge is no match for Governor Palin. I don’t think she cares about wolves and until she gets up to Alaska and actually saves a couple of these creatures from the hunters bullet I think she’s just publicity seeking and Sarah Bashing.
Her Tshirt should read:
Save the Wolves! Kill the Babies! I believe she is for abortion on demand.
She’s angry because she hasn’t dealt with her abortion.
She’s got nothing to be this angry about. Her guilty
conscience is getting to her. Why else would she so virulently
want to protect the life of SOMETHING — in her case animals –
but radically defend the “savage” killing of innocent babies?
She’d have to realize what she did as wrong and she ain’t there
yet. I know. I was where she is now.
Thank God for grace to see what I had done wrong. Looking
at her reminds me of me ten years ago. There’s still hope
for her.
I had a post planned, but FYI, SQT, and Mitchum said everything much better.
Thank GOD for the freedom that we have so idiots like Ms. Judd can express themselves.
Ms. Judd, I can express in one word why this nation is still great: FREEDOM.
“I´d hate to see where right wing nut jobs like me finish on her food chain.”
“Have you ever noticed that when a leftie talks about coming together…”
Yes, quoting the article. Jena started the trend. I was just following. I also knew exactly how nasty I was being. It is obviously the only thing anyone on this site knows. Every article and every post is nasty. But the HuffPo articles are just as nasty, I’m just more welcome there than you.
I’m not whining. Just holding a mirror to what you have going here. I don’t want, nor would I be able to, feel important here. It is a physical impossibility. I’m not bitter, nor am I angry. Just saddened by the state of the Republicans who refuse to work together. But as Mitchum states, that’s not what any of you want. So be it. While Obama asks for bipartisanship, make sure you work against it as much as you can. Bush never asked for bipartisanship, but shoved as hard as he could the other way.
I will continue to debate with my conservative Republican friends and family here in the deep south (of which none of you believe exist in my world) and hope we can all find a way to work together some day. I do see the value in what they say. Unfortunately, none of you here have tried to put any of your ideas across. So, this was a futile attempt at discussion. The closest to debate here was Synova regarding the wolf population and even Chris, though Chris came across as a jerk and incapable of proper spacing/capitalization.
Is Susan Sarandon passing her Wicked Witch of the West broom to Ashley??
Colleen,
For the third time: Just exactly when is the magic moment when a woman’s fetus becomes a human being? Month 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,??????????
If you can’t answer this question, how in the world can you justify abortion under any circumstances??
I am waiting for your fine and nuanced reply.
Oh yes, BO says he is for the right of abortion for women but against abortion per se. Now that is really nuanced.
I don’t know that I’m interested in debate. The *idea* behind debate is that there is a winner and the winner is right and that is determined by who is the best debater. All it really shows, though, is who has the most skill at debate. It says nothing at all about whose ideas have the most merit. It’s sort of like judicial combat, where the loser of a battle is declared guilty even if his physical prowess doesn’t extend to walking without incident, except that we don’t use swords, we use words. Winning a debate has nothing to do with who is right or not.
As for working together… lets consider the liberal-feminist reaction to Sarah Palin for a moment. As a *feminist* Sarah Palin rocks. She’s become a Governor through her own effort while bucking both political parties in her State. She operates with confidence and effectiveness in a man’s world. Now, this seems a perfect, nearly custom made situation to show some feminist solidarity, yes? That women can do or be whoever and whatever they desire to do or be through their effort and skill seems like something that would have no conflict. Sarah was willing to praise the feminist efforts of her political opponents. Where was the feminist praise for Sarah Palin? IIRC, it only came from Naomi Judd. The rest was more like Ashley. For them, not only was Sarah not a feminist, she wasn’t even a *woman*.
If the left can’t stand to put aside partisanship on the things they actually agree on… who has the problem here?
They did it with the war, too. Before the war feminist and human rights groups condemned the Taliban for extreme oppression of women. After, rather than continue to push for women’s rights in those areas, maybe even suggesting that this is where a conscientious objector could apply her efforts (as in previous wars CO’s took on other constructive projects) to further those things she felt were important, the only thing that *was* important was opposing anything Bush tried to do. (It’s a good thing he went stealth on anti-AIDS effort and funding in Africa or that would have been opposed just as strongly.)
If liberals, if feminists like Ashley, can’t even come together with conservatives on areas of agreement that are also elements of their core beliefs… who has the problem here?
@Synova
You absolutely nailed it.
The treatment of Sarah Palin by the feminist movement was so appalling to me. It became clear very quickly that “feminism” isn’t about the advancement of women, but rather the advancement of abortion. That’s it. There was really no other major objection to Palin other than the fact that she chose to give birth to a Down Syndrome baby. The attacks on her and her family were the most vicious I have ever seen. Bush was treated by kid-gloves by comparison.
So all of this so-called bi-partisan effort by the Dems is laughable. What they’re really saying is our guy won so you need to just shut-up and go away. And if you do voice an opposing opinion, you’ll be shouted down and ridiculed just like Sarah Palin was.
To be accepted by the feminist establishment, you must conform to their ENTIRE dogma about that this looks like. SP doesn’t and so, she has to be assualted for her heresy.
We of course, love her for who she is.
Go figure.
I find the personal attacks on liberals and Ms. Judd in particular ridiculous and not addressing the major issue. While I am from Canada, I never tire of hearing Conservatives talk about how movie stars are empty-headed “liberals” who blindly spout nonsense. However, most of these liberals, elites or whatever you want to call them are much better educated and intelligent than the backward, rural americans who routinely criticize them. They know much more about the world and complex issues than most conservatives who just spout whatever Rush Dimbulb or Dubya tell them.
I saw Ms. Judd on television numerous times talking about this issue and I found that she spoke forcefully, articulately and looked incredible. Somethings that could never be said about right-wing nuts like Ann Coulter.
As for true hypocrites, look no further at the right-wingers and their fanatical obsession against abortion. Oh yes, they oppose the taking of life! Yeah right. When hundreds of children were killed in Gaza by Israeli bombardment and the millions were suffering against US-led sanctions they said nothing except supporting the killings. Of course not, they were non-white and Muslim, so they don’t care!!! Yet, they preach on and on about the “sanctity of life” while supporting every single aggressive military adventure of their leaders that kills thousands in their tracks. Christian fascist hypocrites!!!
AKHTARMAN
Perhaps if you guys would stop chopping off heads, mutilating the genitals of your woman, using women and children to set off bombs, bombing school buses, tossing missles into Isreal, the rest of the world might relate to your “cause.”
As it stands now, you are just viewed as the murderers that you are.
@Akhtarman
The mind boggles. What specifically well educated celebrities are we talking about? Matt Damon? Who dropped out of Harvard? Judd? Who cites “Women’s Studies” as an area of concentration?
Why is it Damon is considered quite the intellectual for dropping out of Harvard while Bush is deemed stupid after graduating from the same University? I’m not seeing the logic.
And why is it important that Judd “looked incredible?” Sarah Palin was bashed for being a beauty queen, so I guess looking incredible only counts if you’re a liberal.
Seeing the hypocrisy yet?
And your problems with Israel? Here’s a snippet from the Washington Post (they’re liberal enough for you. Right?)
When demands are made of Israel to halt its military activities in Gaza, a brief historical reminder is in order.
In September 2005, Israel vacated Gaza, dismantled all the settlements in the Gaza Strip and did not leave a shred of a presence there.
In January 2006, rule over Gaza passed to the Hamas government under Ismail Haniyeh. Instead of bringing investors to Gaza, the Hamas government brought the guerrilla-warfare trainers of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. Instead of launching economic projects, this government launched rockets every day at Israeli towns and villages across the border. They smuggled in vast amounts of explosives, weapons and rockets; they prepared themselves for battle.
In June 2007, in a brutal and bloody military coup, Hamas took control of Gaza and soon killed or chased out the leaders of President Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah movement. Gaza became nothing less than a military base for Iran.
For the full article, go go here.
We’re not Christian fascists, but you are an anti-Semite.
Oh, should I add some exclamation marks to that? It adds so much credibility.. you know.
Uh, Akhtarman – what about the hundreds of Israelis killed all the time by bomb attacks from Hamas?? Or do they not count? And you use the word “fascist” while spouting anti-Semtic comments? Never ceases the amaze me when libs use the word “Nazis” or “fascist” when they obviously have no idea what those words really mean.
Yes, you can afford to be oh so self-righteous in Canada when your country is safe and snuggled up to the U.S. – I wonder what would happen, say, if your country was right next to Iran? How judgemental would you be then?
Ashley’s husband, racecar driver Dario Franchitti, is contributing to global warming and the RAPE of Mother Earth with his constant thirst for fossil fuels to run his racecar and private (!) helicopter. Dario will sometimes fly himself to the race site. It seems wasteful and self-indulgent, when he could be taking public transportation. This does not concern Ashley. She’s right and we’re wrong because she’s an artist, dammit!
matt damon!
Just wanted to say thanks to all my readers for their comments. Especially to you English majors or pointing out a typo and a grammar error.
Here is the difference between a conservative and a liberal. When you point to my mistakes I say thanks and try to correct them.
@ Akhtarman
Yep…Ah'm jes a iggerant cunservativ cuz ah hold conservativ opinyuns…
Not.
BA, masters, post-grad studies in several professional disciplines. Three major professional certifications and more…and I think I'm fairly typical of a lot of conservatives.
If you take the time to do some research into empirical studies and polls on the subject, you will find that conservatives are considerably better educated than libs (excluding, however, the vast majority of social sciences professors if you believe that studying most social sciences results in an education).
I tend to believe that the better-educated celebrities in Hollywood, regardless of their political leanings, are generally smart enough to realize when they are out of their depth and keep their mouths shut if they are not certain about their facts; and, from a professional standpoint, they realize that their fans usually don't give a fig for their politics.
well said Tom
I too have a grad degree I just happen to be a terrible speller!
all the best
well, she is far smarter than most right wing gun loving nuts in Kentucky, she thinks outside the right wing box….I love her
