ClimateGate: What Will Television Do With All Their Scare-Programming?
by James HudnallA funny thing happened on the way to a global conspiracy. Reality killed it. Funny how that happens.
Not long ago people like Al Gore were jetting around the globe taking in vast speaking fees, winning awards, telling everyone that they must give up the things they enjoy to save the planet. These doomsayers all told us we were stupid if we doubted them. They knew better, you see. These people claimed all “real” scientists agreed that mankind was destroying the planet with global warming. That we humans were at fault and the only way to save ourselves is bow down to a world government, pay lots of taxes and give up our cars, our electricity, air travel, light bulbs, blah blah blah.

There was a vast left wing conspiracy in other words. One designed to scare people into giving more power and wealth to statist bureaucrats who were employing the oldest trick in the book. Using fear and guilt to manufacture consent.
They began by locking down major institutions like NASA and Britain’s Climate Research Unit (CRU). Then they got the media on board, the science magazines, the cable networks. They started churning out articles and documentaries supporting the global warming meme. Millions were spent selling the idea, because many of these groups knew that fear, like sex, sells. There are two main motivations that human beings have. The desire to have something and the fear of losing something. They used both to pitch the notion that we could create a “green utopia” by changing the way we did things, and in doing so we would prevent the end of the world. Who doesn’t want to be a hero? Who doesn’t love the environment? How can you argue with that?
But two things happened last year that shot an arrow in the heart of the beast; one of the worst winters on record and Climategate. And the hits keep on coming. Now it turns out that NASA, who claimed for years that their data proves Global Warming is real, was actually just using CRU data all along. And the CRU couldn’t back up any of its data. In fact, they “lost the records” when they were forced to produce them. Oops!
So now these news channels who’ve been trumpeting the story as fact, all those cable networks who spent millions on documentaries hyping it, all those TV shows hawking green as the in color; they all look like fools. Or worse, they look like they were in on what will go down as one of the biggest scams in human history.
What would you do if you were in their position? It’s not hard to understand why they’re carrying on like Climategate never happened. They have a president in the White House as clueless as they are, pushing the Cap and Trade agenda as if those darn glaciers are just about melted. We have to do something fast! Not a moment too soon, kiddies.
The climate scam is worth trillions of dollars and who knows how many millions, if not billions have been spent to win over the public. Too bad the public is losing interest fast. People are increasingly saying it’s all made up or at best, exaggerated. You can’t put toothpaste back in the tube. The proverbial genie is out of the bottle, The cat has left the bag. There’s no going back to the lies and spin. But our friends in the media are still living a lie. It’s like they threw a party and only their mom and a few friends showed up. What was once a hip thing to be a part of, like smoking, is fast becoming a loser tattoo on their foreheads.
The public’s trust is evaporating and it’s not helping that many in the media are circling the wagons. As their ratings drop and their Nielsens tank, as the suits upstairs start laying off staff, they’re going to have to deal with reality. Something they’ve tried to deny all these years. Yes, folks. The warm-mongers are in fact the deniers.
The economy is in a down-spiral. Telling people they need to cut back is like rubbing salt in their wounds. Promising them “green jobs” is like telling a 40 year old Santa Claus is coming to town.
The climate skeptics started a snowball years ago that has been gaining size and momentum as it rolled downhill. It’s getting larger all the time. And now it’s headed straight at the media that tried to deny it. They want to pretend it will go away if they think happy thoughts (or gloomy ones as the case may be). But it’s coming at them like an unstoppable freight train and it’s almost here.
Its name is karma.

How very, very tasty. One day, climate gate may be looked back on as the poor man's war of the worlds.
according to State Controlled Media Reports Hollywood has been 'enlisted' by 'scientists' to rebut climate change critics…
As if treacle like '2012' isn't enough. Good citizens, you must understand that this lot takes their beliefs to the level of insanity. Yes, insanity.
All one has to do is watch the collective head spinning whenever their orthodoxy is challenged. Full out of body experiences take place, it is quite a sight. But when you realize the climate is warming on MARS as well- where
last checked human contact was minimal as is SUV use- then you know it is the (surprise, surprise) Sun that is responsible.
Can't tax that, though…
Oh but you can just bet that if the liberals could find a way to tax the sun they would.
And so dies Manbearpig…
EXCELLENT article! Thank you!
Great article…. and well, Al Gore is still laying claims… just like the SNOW and RAIN in the northeast this past winter…. it was becuase of GLOBAL WARMING… what a crock, it is just like the past snow storms we used to get when I was younger…. it is CYLICAL….
"Forty years after the first Earth Day, the world is in greater peril than ever. While climate change is the greatest challenge of our time,,," http://www.earthday.net/earthday2010
Earth Day! When we turn all our lights and appliances on, drive really fast in our SUVs as far as we can, eat lots of meat while laughing hysterically at the environmentalist wackos!
well, maybe a CME (Coronal Mass Ejection) would give them pause…
The problem for liberals if it's natural climate variations is that they can't tax the sun, or the earth.
and Cigars.. dont forget the cigars…
Good photo on the thread. At first glance, I thought it was Chia-Pet Obama.
Too hot: Global Warming
Too cold: Global Warming
Too windy: Global Warming
Too still: Global Warming
Too wet: Global Warming
Too dry: Global Warming
Too many storms: Global Warming
Too few storms: Global Warming
The sun explodes: Bush… and Global Warming.
LOL! Yes! Cigars a must! As many as we can stand to smoke!
If you're worried about the earth, just go volunteer to plant a tree somewhere (I have), or clean trash out of a river -just leave my wallet and my freedoms the hell alone. Trees and rivers are nice, I like them too.
The best thing we can do for the country is to not watch ANY liberal programming. Let their advertisers know too. Infact boycott them until they stop putting ads on this nonsense. This nonsense will stop when there is no market for it.
Question: Is it compassionate to decimate an economy and hurt the poor people in the process? Liberal policies always hurt the poor.
True that!
ho!
well done…
This is a great learning experience. We should all be asking ourselves how we were fooled (if we were) and, most importantly, how we came to realize it was a scam. Was it the excessive hype? The weirdly broad base of support? That fact that it smelled like a theological device and was spearheaded by a trained theologian? The refusal to allow access to data? The "science is settled" line? The ignoring of criticism? The conflict with reality?
And the guns, lots of guns….
But like Jason the Creator of the Enviroment is now lecturing that the floods are exactly what the "scientists" who know global warming is real said is going to happen. If floods in spring is a portent of global warming we are doomed for the Farmer's Almanac has temperatures in summer are going to be higher than now.
Al Gore is technically right, global warming is coming….in about 5 Billion years. Our sun, a yellow star, will begin to run out of fuel and will get hotter and expand into a planetary nebula and engulf the earth as it burns out. Al Gore should start a campaign to save our sun now. Half of our sun's 10 Billion year life cycle is over. Oh no, what are we going to do?
How ironic that an industry that relies on power-users (abusers) is still banging the drum for conservation. Here's an easy tip…turn the TV off. A 100-watt bulb is all you need to read a book.
Make films that portray the terrible state the world is heading into? Hmmm, how much of a carbon footprint do they have? (Rhetorical question, I know movie studios are major power abusers.
Little Johnny comes home from school and lectures you on "going green"? "Okay, Johnny, here's the thing, we need to heat the house, refrigerate perishable food, and cook the food we eat. There will only be one TV on in the house, and since I pay the electric bill, it will be tuned to the programming I want to watch. We didn't have Wiis, iPods, cell phones/chargers, or computers when I was a kid, and I managed to survive and get a job, so you're cut off. Green enough for you?"
Heck! Let's go for broke! We can use the guns to shoot aerosol deodorant cans!
I like where your head's at!!
BUSH DID IT!!!
And it has NOTHING WHAT SO EVER to do with that big round orange thing in the sky!!!
SO THERE!!!!!!
BBBLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!
no really. it was on the news. ABC.NBC.CBS.CNN. MNBC. so it must be true. right?
Seeing the picture of the green television in your article and reading what you said reminded me of a segment from one of these "Tales from the Crypt" film anthologies that used to be made. The story involves a farmer who finds a meteorite that turns out to be an egg of sorts. His wife said leave it alone. He said he had to crack it open to see what is inside so that he could make money and be famous for his discovery. He opens the egg and a green goo pours out that happens to be a kind of grass that grows on EVERYTHING. The last scene of the story shows the guy setting in his easy chair watching television, muttering how unfair life is etc etc, while the grass starts growing on him until it finally consumes him. The last thing visible of his body is two marble eyes staring out of what used to be a face in horrific puzzlement. Then poof, the face is gone and all you have left is a bunch of grass growing bigger and bigger. The final shot shows the living room being consumed to non-recognition by the grass. All that is left is the television screen glowing, becoming dimmer, then poof, it is out. End scene. Kind of reminds me of what you are talking about.
Let us sue the silly beggers! Nip this 3 Card Monty in the bud.
Duck duck -GOOSE!
Pretty easily done for me. I watch a lot of Nick At Nite and TV Land, with a little BBC-A (for Doctor Who), Fox Reality channel (for Hell's Kitchen and Solitary), and VH1 (Celeb Rehab and Sober House). That's pretty much it for me. I think the last prime-time show I watched was Amazing Race.
Actually, the sun will get hotter throughout its lifecycle, not just at the very end. This is a very real thing to note: in about 1 billion years the "gaia" that is on Earth will be heated to levels that make life improbable, maybe causing the oceans to boil.
Those who claim humans should "destroy civilization" or even itself, to save the earth, will also unwittingly destroy all known life. Humanity is the only species with a reasonable chance to save life on Earth, by moving it out of the way of the eventual doom.
A friend of mine actually got the Chia-Obama as a gag gift. It's only slightly more hideous than the original. I think they managed to get the pretentious angle of his chin correct however.
I am so sick of these freakin' liberals or whatever they're calling themselves at the moment, brainwashing our children.
If anyone is interested here is a class/lecture by Yuri Bezmenov, the Russian defector who came to America because he got sick of the Russia and the KGB and all of their propaganda. This is completely different from the interview Video that I posted the other day. In this he teaches about how countries are "subverted" and taken over and the one thing that can undo it. I think he's right.
http://www.archive.org/details/KgbPsycologicalWar...
No, he will just go and live in Imaginationland, where everything is real if you can just imagine it, like anthropogenic climate change, and as it happens, teabagging.
I believe that was a story written by Stephen King who also played the
farmer that needed his face mowed. That one also sticks in my mind for some reason.
I live on the west coast so not in tune with other areas green pursuits. But,
Oregon, Washington and California, very liberal states of course, are firmly
in the Green philosophy camp and the emphasis on a green enviromental policies
can only be aided by the entertainment media's desire push the agenda.
I'm not that convinced the conservative tidal wave is going to have an impact
on western states. The immediate future does not look good. Good luck to us all.
And why are Matt & Trey two authentic American geniuses?
Folks. When you turn on South Park look at what year the episodes were produced. Back then and way way way way way way before the BIGs all we had was South Park and the conviction that whoever those people were they were pathetic and wrong.
Those people. Time to pound the Progressive Movement into the fetal position.
Or war of the words.
Between those who insist they know everything, and those who know they don't.
P.S.
How's your dog?
Al Gore is a perpetual hot air machine. He's staked his entire legacy on this, and he is never going to back down.
The best we can hope for is Gore eventually is so embarrassed that he finally shuts up about it, and restricts himself to hanger-oners who are too polite and scared to bring the subject up.
Well that last part is not necessarily true. Mammalian dominance in relative terms is still very recent, and the genus homo dominance is quite a bit younger. Given mass extinctions or, at least, events that cause drastic reductions in populations are relatively frequent, by the time life on earth is impossible (or impossible in its most frequently viewed form today) probably whatever we do Humanity will not be around or dominant. One thing we can be sure of though, after we are long gone (by our own hand or external forces) the earth will soldier on for a vast period of time.
I think no matter what, these alarmist blowhards will never go away.
I think no matter what happens or how foolish and hypocritical they become, these alarmist blowhards will never go away … sadly.
Don't forget to crank up that 4.3 Mega BTU propane spitting hi tech grill.
I have a great recipe for snail darter kabobs.
That was based on a story by Stephen King, "Lawnmower Man".
The whole global warming thing reminds me of the old Outer Limits Episode "The Architects of Fear." Outside of the fact that there's so much money involved with the scam, I've gotten the impression that the environmental whackos need a "scarecrow" (like the "alien" in the tv show) because they think if we all have a common threat to face, we'll all get along better.
To that, I say, "Phooey!"
Propane!? We'll use charcoal and lighter fluid! (The LA Slime says that has a bigger carbon footprint, so greenies prefer propane now). And we can all join PETA- People for the Eating of Tasty Animals!
The left wing libs would like to control everything, population, wealth, energy, industry, healthcare, freedom, individual initative and climate. There is no limit to what they think they have the right to take over. Al Gore is their prophet of doom. Be prepared for new disater movies from Hollywood.
Ed – original dog, the siberian husky, looking down from doggie heaven and smiling at the iditerod. New dog had to be temporarily put on hold until, hopefully, this spring.
The screenplay was by King, but it was based on a short story- "The Colour From Space" by H.P. Lovecraft where a beam from space hits outside a small town and from that point an odd tint spreads out covering and absorbing everything.
Mr Burns' Sun Blocking Machine comes to mind….
Some of us were never fooled and knew it was a big Progressive power grab. It became clear to me in the 70s with the subtle indocrination of my children; the unionization of the schools, and the fact that civics classes became verboten. All of a sudden, true education, especially in American values, was being discarded, in favor of "one size fits all". It was scary then, horrific now.
hope is eternal
Please, please, please vote all of these progressive clowns out in 2010.
A 40-watt with a good reflector is more than enough, in fact.
I just hope that we don't push back too hard the other way. There are obviously things in our environment that are concerning (even alarming) that we should be paying attention to. There are also a lot of scientists who've done good work documenting trends in the environment that we need to be concerned about.
Yes, many of the GW fanatics are just Leftists glomming onto a cause to further their agenda, and they've done horrible things (like preach doom to our children) to try to win their case. That doesn't mean that all of the information or scientists are bogus. I hope we aren't trying so hard to fight the nonsense that we start ignoring real science in the process.
they go good with Brandy.
Two fisted pistol firing all the way! EEEEEEEEEEHA!
It also seems that a year or two ago, the alarmists went from crying "GLOBAL WARMING IS UPON US!" to crying "CLIMATE CHANGE IS UPON US!"
Indeed, cause floods in spring have nothing at all to do with all the snow melting at once coupled with the usual heavy spring rains. Not surprised this made it into his lectures.
Ah, what a wonderous place indeed. Let's send algore along with him so they can get cereal together.
*grins* they were pissing off the left (and Hollywood) right from the start, and all are truly fair game to them. They never played favorites with their ridicule and I respect that (even when it's directed at somehing I agree with).
I say fire them all up! The kettle w/loads of lighter fluid, the propane, the turkey frier…and cook up all the meat (preferably game) and have a gynormous block party. Be sure to invite all the "people eating tasty animals" for a good time had by all! "BYOB, BYOC, BYOG, BYOSUV, BYOP, BYOLF etc…just bring it!"
Earth Day is going to be a blast! (pun intended!)
Nothing says "I love the Earth" better than the double-blast with a cigar and a brandy on the side with a big EEEEEEEEEEEEHA!
I ask global warming fanatics the same question I've been asking for year, ever since I figured out this was a scam.
Show me the study (studies) that prove a casual relationship between human activity and raising global temperatures.
That's actually a pretty simple request. If we were talking real science that is. Because that simple request is what changes the debate from "scientific consensus" and to "science."
Show me that evidence and I'm board 100%.
The funny thing is when I ask that question, rather than answer that simple question, I'm told the debate is over, every one agrees, and if I don't I either belong to the flat earth society, or I'm employed Exxon-Mobile, despite the fact the people I ask this question know who I work for. And its telecommunications, not petrochemicals.
Just show me the study.

well, I certainly didn't vote any of them in.
Last I saw, algore was swishing along in his cape, waiting for Kyle to finish up with Cartman so he could have his turn…
Thank you.
I agree with you 100%. This is one of the things that pisses me off so much about this global warming crap.
The people that are pushing it don't care in the least about the unintended consequences of their actions. But there were be unintended consequences, there always are. The real environmental movement will be the ones who suffer.
I think you've hit on just what finally drove me out of the left. It's not enough for these people to champion a misguided cause, they actually have to go out of their way to make it worse, and then it's my fault they screwed it all up.
Hey, I was doing propane back when propane was cool.
You add drilling, processing and transport carbon to propane and we are as big a carbon ass print as anything charcoal can come up with.
Up next, fracking the Marcellus Shale*.
* In the name of full disclosure, I live on a very small city lot, and there is no room to frack the Marcellus in my yard. I have no financial gain at stake.
I run into Charlie Fog,
Blacked my eye and he kicked my dog,
My doggie turned to me and he said,
Let's head back to Tennessee Jed.
I woke up a feelin' mean,
Went down to play the slot machine,
The wheels turned around, and the letters read,
You better head back to Tennessee Jed.
Spring is a good time for a new dog. Next month we'll have our puppy for a full year. In spring it's easier to train them to go out side, nice weather, romping in the yard.
It's also good to wait. We lost two dogs to natural causes a couple of years ago, and we waited about 4 or 5 months. It was proper to give time to let feelings sort themselves out, so we could welcome the new puppy in his own right.

'release the hounds, Smithers'…
The Chia-Pet Obama is selling pretty well on eBay if you can find one. Other Obama Swag, not so much… I think this is a sign…..
The greenies never put their wallet or muscle where their mouth is. And they will never admit that Hunters and Fishermen do more for the environment that all of their junk organizations combined. I am an outdoors person and I have never seen Sierra Club or PETA Members going into the forrest to improve the forage for wild animals or insure enough trees are planted to sustain the habitat. Conservation is a foreign concept to the Greenies.
Maybe we should start a movement to "Turn Off the TV" in order to save energy. All we hear about is light bulbs and computers. Nobody suggests the energy hog TV. Wonder how Networks would react if this gained momentum?
No gain required my brother! Fire that bad boy up! Charcoal, propane…etc… As long as you have an awesome time! Enjoy the limited liberty while you have it! Tell Mr. Shale to have a bite of some awesome barbecue…who knows…life will be good! No guessing..pondering…etc…propane is still cool!

To claim this scam is a conspiracy misses the point. There's NO need to conspire to manipulate the minds of people, if you've ALREADY erased and re-assembled them. It's not a conspiracy, but a philosophy. It's the moral relativism that has been shoveled into the empty heads of Americans from the moment they walk into school. They are force-fed the notion that feelings trump thinking. Children's self-esteems are taught to be the source of their actions. Rather than responding intellectually to the world around them, analyzing, problem solving, and discerning truth, they are stroked into believing that unearned self gratification is their essence, and tolerance and non-discernment has become their morally equivalent "standard." Feeling compassion for polar bears, sea turtles, and their gender confused classmates trumps the rights of the unborn, the individual and private property.
Analysis of data and facts as a basis of decision-making is supplanted by the pervasive left-wing ideologies that appeal to their "hearts" rather than their "minds." Little wonder then, that a propagandized barrage from Al Gore, Disney, Discovery, Animal Planet, and National Geo has replaced accurate information, analysis, and skeptism as the hallmarks of knowledge. In just two generations, the competitive individualism that made America a land of opportunity, has been replaced by the mush-brained, self-centered, yet collectivist mentality that has degenerated into a population craving entitlements and hand-outs, not to mention stunted intellectual growth. Falling for the notion that they hold the power to rescue the animal kingdom and the planet from those naughty, selfish, human beings who are SO DIFFERENT than themselves, just keeps the self esteem fire burning, and the dollars rolling into the Global Warming Pied Pipers who lead them around like the unwitting fools they are.
Hmmm perpetual hot air machine . . .
The solution to our energy problems!
We hook Al Gore up to a virtual reality machine where he thinks he is on a stage in front of a massive audience the capture the hot air from his inane pontificating, and use that to power massive turbines.
And if we wanted cogeneration, we could hook his followers into the same machine, and use the materials from their decaying bodies as compost.
What? It has as much a chance of working as most of the nonsense he spouts.
I wrote off '24' when Jack gave that global warming PSA. It was impossible to suspend disbelief after seeing him join the ranks of those 'Chicken Little' wussbags.
"I think you've hit on just what finally drove me out of the left."
That's probably because it's exactly what drove me out of the Left as well (although I always had some Conservative beliefs). All you have to do is look at what happened with the DDT ban in Africa. People thought that too much poison (pesticides) in the environment was bad, then someone decided it must be deadly, then a bunch of other people jumped on board, and pretty soon it became, "If you don't think DDT is dangerous, you must be in favor of killing kids." Of course we found out decades later that DDT was not very dangerous (as far as pesticides go), but the unintended consequence of the crusade against it was tens of millions dead in third world countries.
It is the perfect metaphor for Liberalism (although is it a metaphor if it really happened?).
Mr Burns' Sun Blocking Machine comes to mind….
what are you talking about? real leftists don't watch TV.

The most destructive force to our earth is poverty. These wackos use their organizations to cause so much harm but a quick way to slow them down is to not donate any money to them or to any affiliated enviro group.
I agree with you, Mike. But what makes this enormously frustrating is that the left has introduced another meme that pretty effectively counters it: The false belief that our side ("conservatives" for lack of a better word) is anti-intellectual, anti-science, anti-reason, and relies almost entirely on fear, hate, and other negative raw emotions to communicate their point of view.
This was deliberate, of course – and quite Saul Alinsky.
There was a decent article in the LA Times this morning about the Texas history book controversy. The author, a liberal, said that conservative critis are correct when they point that history books are biased. But he's fine with that. After all, the vast majority of writers and teachers and historians are liberals, so don't be shocked that they work hard to get their world view accepted by the new generation. Sadly, conservatives lack the willingness to do the same.
The best thing I've seen in years was at the Borders Books near my home having "An Inconvenient Truth" be in the "Bargain Bin".

Ah, the dustbin of history strikes again. Wonder if people will read about this "climate change" nonsense in textbooks 20 years from now? I hope so, teach people to think for themselves "don't believe the hype"
http://hellgazette.blogspot.com/
If Scientists are rigging the data to serve a political means how is it possible to determine which 'facts' are facts and which 'facts' are rigged?
I'm deeply concerned by the fact that Scientists have destroy their own credibility-Scientists need to repair their credibility problem caused by their stupidity to rig the data before they demand other accepts their 'real' science.
The Scientific community messed themselves with 'results' emitting a nasty stench-they must work to clean up their mess.
something is wrong with the link, please fix it
The Jewish people as a whole will become its own Messiah. It will attain world dominion by the dissolution of other races, by the abolition of frontiers, the annihilation of monarchy and by the establishment of a world republic in which the Jews will everywhere exercise the privilege of citizenship.
In this New World Order the children of Israel will furnish all the leaders without encountering opposition. The Governments of the different peoples forming the world republic will fall without difficulty into the hands of the Jews. It will then be possible for the Jewish rulers to abolish private property and everywhere to make use of the resources of the state. Thus will the promise of the Talmud be fulfilled, in which is said that when the Messianic time is come, the Jews will have all the property of the whole world in their hands."
— Baruch Levy, Letter to Karl Marx, 'La Revue de Paris', p.574, June 1, 1928
I am sorry everyone, the cold winter is all my fault.
I listened to Al the Gore and stopped using my SUV, switched off the central heating and started walking everywhere. I became evangelical on Climate Change and convinced all my aquaintances to do the same.
It was so effective that CO2 must have dropped and now we are facing Global Freezing.
I am really truly very sorry.
here's the best song about all this climategate/change mess:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3m9aCKDVjA
Wait a minute, you mean you are supposed to plant a tree? Damn, we have been cutting a tree down every earth day for years.
Oh well, too late now, it's a tradition for us, and the beginning of the firewood season.
Sorry, earth.
That's fine, but to blame "scientists" for the actions of a handful of zealots and possibly charlatans is like blaming Christians for the actions of some nut jobs who happen to be Christians.
Most of the scientific work I've seen on this has been solid and scholarly. These people (for the most part) have assumed that the other research was done honestly and studiously. They based their work on that premise. These people all have different specialties, and have no ability to "clean up" the actions of the people who behave improperly.
This is what I'm talking about. Using that broad brush to paint scientists as all somehow colluding in this mess is unfair and pretty dangerous. The last thing Republicans or Conservatives need for their political viability is to portray themselves as anti-science. It's also legitimately dangerous to ignore scientific warnings about pollution and it's effects on our environment. Find out who lied or manipulated data and excoriate them. I just don't want to see an over-reaction against the people who are actually out there trying to protect us from doing stupid stuff that will harm all of us.
we have the real thing here in the south. it's called 'kudzu'.
as some once observed, "Geese do not 'conspire' to fly in a V, it's just what they do." Liberals did not have to conspire on this, it's simply a grand manifestation of all their worst inclinations.
