Weakness is Provocative
by James HudnallNo, I am not going to get into that dopey John Lennon song; that paen to Marxism and atheism, but I will ask you to imagine something…
Imagine Vladamir Putin on a European trip apologizing for Russia invading its neighbors and murdering millions of people in the name of Communism. Imagine Putin saying Russia will never be at war with capitalists, is ashamed of his country’s past treatment of minorities, that they were wrong to send thousands of innocent people to Siberian Gulags for dissent and other trumped up charges, and that he’s sorry for decimating Chechnya and invading Georgia.
OK, how about this, imagine Hugo Chavez bowing to President Bush or hugging Dick Cheney. Silly, huh?
How about Iran’s president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad going to Europe and saying, “You know…all that extremist stuff we do, the hanging of gay people, the imprisoning and execution of dissenters, the elimination of women’s rights — that was my predecessors doing. I’m not like that.”
The reason this will never happen is because these men operate from a position of strength. They’re leaders who represent their people as they see fit and believe they are right. Even if a lot of what they do is reprehensible, they have to show the world they stand by their country.
Instead, what do we have? A president who complains about his predecessor and apologizes and knocks America’s history. This doesn’t sound like a world leader, more like a Hollywood celebrity trying to score brownie points abroad.
Most people don’t respect this kind of behavior. You should always be true to your home team, especially if you’re the coach.
Our enemies don’t respect this kind of weak behavior. John Kennedy tried something similar in the early 60s when he went to Berlin and talked to Khrushchev. In response, we got the Cuban Missile Crisis. The Soviets perceived him as weak when he tried to play all nice and fluffy like Obama.
To our foes that’s like having a “Kick Me” sign on your back.

The Magical Apology Tour. (w/ apologies to Lennon/McCartney)
(horns up) Roll up…roll up for the apology tour. Roll up…roll up for the apology tour… Roll Up… I got an invitation… for more political masturbation. I've got debts to sell… they're all telling me to go to hell… The magical apology tour is coming to fake the day… nobodys buying the sway. The magical apology tour is going to drive you away…going to drive you away and make you pay. Roll up…roll up for the apology tour. Roll up…roll up for the apology tour…
We'll tell you everything you need, and all along we'll make you bleed. The magical apology tour is dying to take you away… dying to make you pay and tax you today.
The problem is that we currently live in a culture that admires non-inclusive self-flagellation. What I mean by this is that too many people think it is humble and brave for an American to say "Yes, Americans are so awful and racist"… but what they really mean is "OTHER Americans (not me, of course) are awful and racist". But because we are in the group, people think it is somehow valid and brave to make damning statements about that group.
(This is something Christians do all the time…"We as Christians don't help the poor enough… oh, what, you want me to help the poor more? No, I didn't me me in particular, I mean those OTHER Christians.")
Obama has jumped on this bandwagon. "America has been arrogant and self-serving. Oh, not my administration… I mean that OTHER administration. My administration is perfect." This might work well for a little while with parts of Europe, but the fact of the matter is that many other cultures see this kind of attitude as pathetic and weak; a sign that our culture has no confidence in itself.
I think it is an attitude that grows out of enormous narcissism. It is an attitude that pretends to be humble, but only does so to get other people to agree so that they will say to themselves "Look! The American thinks America is stupid and who knows better than him? Let's all go congratulate him for reinforcing our stereotype."
Hey! Where do I get in line to apologize for our apologetic President?
Imagine Captain Phillips, held hostage for two days, thinking that the US Navy had his back.
http://apnews.myway.com/article/20090410/D97FJF10...
Why were there FBI negotiators there? Who cares what the company the man worked for wanted? A Navy warship would seem, to me, to be a great negotiating chip.
We are truly a 'paper tiger' now, and they know it.
The premise of this article assumes Putin (or Obama) would see anything wrong with collectivization, genocide, or totalitarianism. If done in the name of fighting "imperialism", "capitalism", or whatever leftist bogey-man invoked, trampling on individual liberties is fine, and in the name of the greater good, according to Putin and his ilk.
For North Korea, Russia, Iran, and Venezuela, Christmas has come early this year, thanks to President Obama.

The fact that Jimmy Carter's pronouncements are met with anything more than derisive laughter tells me that liberals learn nothing from history.
They all seem like 17 year olds who are for the first time noticing that the world is a bad place and think "if only we could stop hating, it would be a better world". I guess every generation needs to learn for itself that not everybody will sing with you when you buy them a Coke.
hussein obama is a socialist loser
My point is, a lot of what we've done is justified. And bringing up stuff from the 18th century is helpful, how? In the 18th century few nations were nice to everyone. France, for example had Napoleon running around conquering and attacking everyone. England was doing some nasty stuff in the name of Colonialism. Turkey at that time still had the Ottoman Empire. Not exactly a swell bunch of guys. Why bring up the distant past? No one is exactly a saint in that regard.
We're apologizing for things that don't deserve an apology. As the world's cops, a job that was thrust on us by the Europeans who won't even lift a finger to defend themselves, we have to do things sometimes that are harsh. By apologizing it gives our critics an opening to try to paralyze us with guilt trips. Just look at Obama's Jimmy Carter approach to the pirates. No one would have messed with us under Bush because they weren't sure what he was going to do. But they're seeing Obama is all talk.
Carter diidn't have the press covering for him like the One does. Rabbits chasing canoes, drunken brothers relieving themselves on tarmacs, crazy old mothers, and making fun of the way he talked. The Carter comparisons stop at the appeasing stupidity. Jimmuh was a good old boy with a mean streak a mile wide. The One is an outsider with an axe to grind with the world, especially the USA world that did so much to marginalisze his family in his eyes. Carter has amazingly bad judgement and wouldn't listen to anyone ( Harding in a sheepsuit). Obama is on a missionand it's not to make us stronger. Putin is a facade on a crumbling place. All they can do is ruin things, he and Obama are on the same mission.
These so-called "strongmen" don't apologize for their actions because they think they are right in what they're doing. They actually are "strong men" when it comes to staking a position and holding it. Obama will never apologize for grabbing more power for the government or Federalizing formerly state functions because he's staked a position and intends to hold it. He only apologizes for what others did.
When the North Koreans recently launched that missile, wouldn't it have been great if the U.S. had simply shot it down without any fanfare, explanation, or apology. Whoa Nelly! Obama would have made such a lasting statement. What do you think North Korea would do; attack us? Hah!
And how about that pirate nonsense currently going on? Surround their butts with American warships so none of them can leave. Then give them an ultimatum to turn over the Captain unharmed and surrender. If no positive response, then either wait them out until they starve to death (not my first choice) OR launch a manned attack on the ship, round up the culprits, and hang all of them on the spot. Sorry, no lethal injections. Send a message (or something like that), President Obama.
Can't wait to see what our fearless leader is actually going to do.
"The One is an outsider with an axe to grind with the world, especially the USA world that did so much to marginalisze his family in his eyes. "
It's almost as if he believed the sermons of Jeremiah Wright or something.
The Carter/Obama parallels in my opinion are about equating weakness for kindness and holding onto a naive worldview that 1) the world is mean because we are so bad to them and 2) if we act nicer, they will too.
Carter was the first one to go around apologizing for everything we've done. He gave back the Panama Canal even though we paid for it, bought the land, and fought with the Panamanians so they could have their own country, but Carter called it imperialistic,
He coddled dictators like Castro which resulted in the Mariel Boat Lift. No, the comparisons are apt. But Obama is worse.
To Obama, this is *not* his country: The mere idea of having a "country" to which one is loyal because of the bonds of love and respect for its ideals is foreign to him.
Obama's response to the pirates was to chide a reporter that he wanted to talk about housing. In three months Obama has proven he is a bad President. He is swiftly running headlong into the craphouse of 'worst President in the history of this county. Putting Clinton and Carter in 2nd and 3rd. I pray the Amarican Character can withstand the acts of this usless pillock.
They don't have Christmas in N. Korea, Russia and Iran. Still, point well made.
It's a pity that there's no one in his circle of advisors to pull him aside and say,
"Barry, this ain't the primaries any more. The election's over. THIS IS THE BIG LEAGUES NOW, YOU _____ING LIGHTWEIGHT! YOU'RE _____ING AROUND WITH MY KIDS' SAFETY!!!"
Sadly, his circle seems to be composed of wimps, gimps, and suck-ups. Gonna be a looooong four years.
Perhaps we should dig up Sadaam and apologize to him. After all, life was pretty good for awhile until we came along.
*Sigh* I'll be queuing up right behind you. Wish I didn't have to.
The worst part of the North Korean missile issue in my opinion is that we had that jackass Gates announcing to the entire world that we were completely helpless to do anything about it, there was nothing we could do to stop them. How's that for painting a HUMONGOUS bullseye on our country?
With Obama it's all about him. He doesn't like this pirate thing intruding on his being the center of attention. He wants to travel the world so the press can say how magnificent he and his wife are. He wants to hold court.
But what will happen is more and more people will do provocative acts and his limp response will result in more of them until people here will all hate him. I suspect the last Obama worshipers will hate him by the end of this year. The only ones defending him will be the fools who invested in him too heavily and are worried about their credibility (the MSM and assorted celebs)
It's really no coincidence that American journalists are being detained or outright disappearing in places like Iran and North Korea, our warships are being harassed by the Chinese, North Korea is firing missiles whenever it wants, pirates are taking US warships, and the deadlest attack in months has been launched on our troops in Iraq today. The world knows our emperor has no clothes, and they respond accordingly.
Matthias, you hit the nail on the head.
Since this is Big Hollywood, let´s add another example. Imagine an actor from continental Europe or China being interviewed in the US and bashing his country (or even just his government). I have never seen it happen. Of course, in Russia or China that behavior would get them into serious trouble, but even a Mexican, Frenchman, German or Indian would simply not do it. First, they would be roundly criticized for airing dirty laundry in front of foreigners. People at home would feel insulted. But they would also not feel like doing it because it is improper. American filmmakers do it all the time, with hardly any prompting.
The reason, I think, is because the American liberal is so self-centered and provincial that they do not grasp the concept of a "foreigner". The cliche of the ignorant, blinkered American abroad, never leaving the bubble – that´s them. It´s even easier when you are a rich celebrity. So they talk exactly like they always do, oblivious to their surroundings.
Do you think that anyone will begin to see the difference between America being liked again vs. being effective?
Like every other crisis in this administration… the Nuke and the Pirate situation are pretty much showing Obama bending over and asking "Please sir, may I Have another?" And as we all know.. someone is going to oblige at some point…
Since our Dear Leader is removing travel restrictions for families to go to Cuba. Do you think Raul with reciprocate and allow people to leave to visit in US? Hmmmm. I wonder?
I actually think it's patronizing to apologize for America to others because it's like a boss who abuses his servants saying, "I'm sorry I yelled at you. I'm not such a bad guy." It's telling them that we're better than you and we're apologizing because we're not all that bad. And that's got to annoy them even more.
But it also shows weakness. Because, as every child learns as soon as they can speak, to lookj for weakness in their parents, they can exploit to get things. A kid notices they can use guilt or cry or whatever to get what they want. It carries forward into adulthood. Our allies rely on us to do things they won't do. But they want to look morally superior so they insult us for doing it. The Russians never apologize for what they do. And no one wants to mess with them even though they are a shadow of what they were. Because they do strike back. If we shot that N Korean missile down. If we blew away those pirates and invaded their port city, believe me, people would not mess with us. And if we didn't apologize for our actions or try to be accepted by weasel words in the UN, no one would mess with us.
Say what you want about Bush, but he had a lot of these clowns running scared of him. They would not try anything when he was in power.
Just saw this one on the Telegraph
"President Pantywaist"… and I can't say it don't fit!
It's also part of our therapeutic culture. Say any damn thing you want, wherever and whenever you feel the need. Context, appropriateness, surroundings and an unwilling audience mean nothing. Just get it off your chest, and to hell with the consequences. And it isn't just the big-mouth Hollywood types, either. I take a bus to work (no practical alternative in San Francisco), and I know the intimate details of the political, philosophical and sexual histories of total strangers. When the talker is done, he or she feels better, and I need a barf bag. How about a little old-fashioned non-therapeutic self-restraint, folks?
And so many of the people the Obamassiah is apologizing to are not our allies, not our ideological opponents, but our enemies. They smell weakness like a dog smells fear.
Good morning Hawk. Thanks for sharing your Muni adventures. I could tell you stories about the N-Judah…
I am really concerned about the future of America under the 0's 'leadership'. I got what you were writing.
Ya know, I think there are three of us oddballs in SF posting here. At least you and I don't have to ride any of the Mission buses, and though I'm occasionally left with no choice but the 19, I get off at Market before they have a chance to pick up the real cuckoos. Once in awhile, I hop on the F train just to be with the tourists (I have clients at Fifth and Market as well as the Wharf), and see their wide-eyed amazement at what we put up with on a daily basis. Mostly I ride the 27, which is quite normal in the morning, but a rolling box of crazies at night when I head back up to Nob Hill. If I weren't such a cheapskate, I'd take cabs.
I would love to sponsor tours for vistors from Cuba. We would visit Spielberg's and Soderburgh's homes and wax poetic about Fidel's charms. Next up the Madame Tussaud's exhibit of Janet Reno tossing Elian back into the sea. Finally, the tour will be addressed by Bobby Rush and the Marxist But Also Happens To Be African American Caucus on why they need to go back and appreciate the free healthcare and 100% literacy rate.
Oh the fun we would have…
I used to grin at the Minnesotans' bumper sticker "My Governor can beat up your governor" (when they had Jesse Ventura) and California's "Governator" and messages about your governor's prowess. Now, however, it isn't so funny. Any country in the world can aptly have a bumper sticker that says "My (PM, president, king, dear leader, whatever he/she is called) can beat up the US president" and it would be apropos. I'm old enough to remember Americans kind of slinking around when Carter was president, head down, eyes cast to the ground. The day Ronald Reagan was sworn in, our heads came up, we looked the world in the eye and the hostages that had been in captivity by a pissant religious fanatic whackjob of a nation were released. I recall the pride I felt in 1982 when I woke up in my hotel room in Monaco, walked out on the balcony, and there, anchored offshore, was the USS America. Obama should be the president of a third rate, Third World country, NOT the United States of America. Our presidents do not bow to other rulers.
"Once in awhile, I hop on the F train just to be with the tourists (I have clients at Fifth and Market as well as the Wharf), and see their wide-eyed amazement at what we put up with on a daily basis. "
Heh. Oh yes, they are the ones wearing shorts
I fled SF a couple of years ago and now live near Philly. Gotta say it was fun while it lasted, but I'm relieved to be out of there.
Why do the most scenic places on the planet have to get screwed up by progressives?
This dimwitted punk for a president goes to two nations that committed genocide in the last century and grovels before them while degrading America.
Nations around the globe should be thanking America.
Obama owes the American people an apology and then he should resign in disgrace.
I'll sing for you if you buy me a coke…
Congratulations, Obama. Now you know what liberal white guilt feels like.
Heh. OK, Meet me on the hilltop and bring your sideburns. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfU17niXOG8
I thought I remembered you saying you are in Philly these days, but I guess it doesn't change anything we said. The best description of San Francisco I've heard is "She's like a grand old whore. She's beautiful from a distance, but don't look too closely or you'll see the chipping paint and the holes in the fabric of her outfit."
100% correct (as usual!).
The only issue I have with your analogy (dog-fear) is that perhaps it would be somewhat more fitting to say
"they smell weakness like a shark smells a floundering wounded fish".
("they" of course being Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, etc.- NOT those pathetic cowardly Europeans who are supposedly our "allies").
Guess Obama changed Teddy Roosevelt's motto to: "Speak softly and bring some flowers, chocolates, and a heartfelt apology." Some view humility not as a strength but as a weakness. In the long run this will place us in more danger as a nation.
I don't necessarily agree on the pirate issue. From what I've read, the company that owns the ship asked the government not to intercede yet as they were negotiating for his release and would be willing to pay a ransom. If that's true, then, much as I hate to say it, the Obama administration can't really be blamed for not doing anything yet.
I also fail to comprehend our spineless reaction to those animals.
Pay them off, then blow them to kingdom come as they sail away.
Do exactly the same with the next group of pirates.
And the next.
And the next.
Even Somali terrorists (a.k.a. "pirates") should have enough brain matter to
figure out what's in store for them every time they take a ship.
Speaking of which, isn't it a strange…coincidence…that they NEVER hijack
a Russian or Chinese ship? Want to know why? Well, because they KNOW that
their miserable lives wouldn't be worth a plugged nickle if they dared to mess
with countries who lacked our "sensitivity" when dealing with sub-human garbage.
Well, he might just empty out the Cuban prisons and Insane asylums again and let them come here- just like "The Beard" did several years ago.
P.S. not their "political" prisoners- just the violent criminals (murderers, rapists, etc.)
I think I'd have to say that humility is a virtue, false humility is a vice. Obama has demonstrated ample examples of the latter. Bush was humble, but they knew what he was capable of doing to them. Carter was arrogant, and they knew he wasn't capable of much of anything. Obama is arrogantly humble, a double-whammy. He mimics Jesus's words, but acts like Caesar (except for the warrior part, of course). In bowing to the Saudi king, Obama wasn't being humble, he was just acknowledging a fellow monarch.
And the worst part is that these are the kinds of sharks that swim in schools. Not like the great white, which goes after its prey by itself.
Exactly! Putin doesn´t get a lot of grief from the Europeans for those dead journalists, open threats against neighboring countries, energy blackmail and assassinations carried out in the EU with radioactive substances. He is the strong horse not because Russia is so darn mighty but because of what they are willing to do. Now, it´s nice that people trust the United States enough to bash her, but it still weakens us. And then bad things happen.
Who's giving away coke? Cool! Whaaat? OH! The soft drink…nevermind.
The world is uncomfortable being reminded that they OWE US! They owe us their freedom and for rebuilding there destroyed countries and economies. They owe us for keeping the western part of Europe from having to learn Russian. Most importantly they owe the multitude of young Americans that got called, strapped up and stormed Hitler's Fortess Europe. It pisses me off that many Europeans drive by fields of white crosses and stars of David and spit out the window. As I've said before, all of free Europe should fall down on their knees in a prayer of thanks to those Americans in eternal sleep beneath the soil of France and Belguim every June 6th at dawn and thank those men and the country that believed in someone elses freedom enough to die for it.
Don't forget chapstick, he's got alot of ass to kiss.
Don't forget chapstick, he's got alot of ass to kiss.
Carter just looked impotent. I'm surprised he managed to reproduce. Sweaters? SWEATERS? He must have been Stuart Smalleys character model. Of course there's the Killer Bunny Wabbit episode. Carter CAN NOT be allowed to rehabilitate his piss poor, sorry legacy. I remember, I WILL NOT FORGET! 444 days, 444 days.444 days…..
I'd like to take this moment to apologize to all Americans for the awful mess Congress and the Obama administration have been building upon in the last 100 days. I would also like to apologize for the next 1.75 years of disservice this Congress will be providing us and the next 3.75 years the Obama administration will be cursing us with.
I do not want the USA to police the world or "bring democracy" to Iraq and Afghanistan.
I DO want the US Navy to protect innocent ships on the high seas. If hanging pirates is not possible then I want to US Navy to blow pirates out of the water. I want US cargo ships armed with sufficient weapons to defend against pirates. Potential hostages should understand that no ransom will be paid and that their captors will be killed even at the cost of the hostage's life.
I want the US military to protect OUR country. Not Europe, not South Korea, not Taiwan, and not Israel. Those countries can protect themselves. It is precisely because we are so overextended that we cannot protect ourselves.
Exactly.
Putin, Ahmedinejad, Chi-coms are watching us closely. They only reason that we don't hear about their preparations is because our media is sweeping it under the carpet, while they gleefully report of our defense cuts.
Barry has the intestinal fortitude of a 3yr old, save one thing, the rape of America. He’s a liberal shill without an original thought. This guy shouldn’t lead a Boy Scout troop much less the greatest country the world has ever known. World leaders are laughing with joy that this spineless nit-wit at the helm of state. But stay tuned kids 2010 is approaching swiftly at we can begin to put this embarrassing community organizer back in his pew with Rev. Wright “America’s chickens have come home to roost,” in the form of a rejuvenated conservative movement. Viva-La-Revolution!
Well said.
Can't argue with you on that. He went from a contender for worst President, to an absolute lock on worst ex-President.
Can't argue with you on that. He went from a contender for worst President, to an absolute lock on worst ex-President.
And don't forget their fawning, toadying, reporting on every single aspect of The Obamassiah's miserable Magical Apology Tour (except for his grovelling bow (perhaps a pantywaist curtsy would be more apt description!) to His Royal Wahabi Misogynist).
It's ALMOST as if he believed the sermons of Jeremiah Wright? He DID believe those sermons. Chicago has hundreds of churches (including black churches) where they don't condemn America and white people, are we to accept that it was just happenstance that he spent his Sundays in a church where they do?
Obama is on a mission to put America in it's rightful place, which he believes to be a position of submission to Islamic fascism, socialism, and foreign and domestic beggars. He is here to punish us.
During the Carter administration, there was a great political cartoon showing Jimmy Carter as a boy, fishing in a stream in Georgia. Jimmy tells the fish 'Fish, there are many of you, and my family is hungry. We would appreciate it if some of you would jump up on the grass so we can eat you for dinner.' A man asks 'Jimmy, why are you fishing without bait on your line, or a hook?' LIttle Jimmy replied 'The fish will do what is right.'
My alternative lyrics for John Lennon's song Imagine go something like this:
Imagine you're an acquisitive millionaire … preaching non-materialism …
Imagine you're an egomaniac … preaching selfless humility …
I'm a big fan of John Lennon's songs, throughout his life (even some obscure ones that were never radio hits),
but I can't listen to his song Imagine
because it strikes me as being unbearably hypocritical, pretentious, presumptuous, preachy, etc, etc…
I'm from the bay area originally (Sonoma County) So I have seen San Francisco change over the years. It's sad how radicalized the place is, though it does have a long history of crazies.
My great grandmother lived through the SF earthquake of 1906, I remember hearing her stories about it when I was a little kid.
I've always kind of liked "the City" as we call it around where I'm from, but I never wanted to live there. Just a hassle all around.
Gee, too bad Obama didn't announce that he had looked Putin in the eye and saw into his soul,
so now he (Obama) knows that Putin is a good old boy and we can trust him, like he's our pal…
That sure would've won the respect of intelligent adults all over the world.
Obama needs to show arrogant contempt for other nations, because that's a much better way to win their allegiance. But then, we don't need any allies on Earth; the USA can do just fine in 'splendid isolation'.
I would feel so much safer if Obama had lived his whole life in the USA and had never shown any curiosity about going to other countries before becoming POTUS.
Complacent (bordering on proud) ignorance is such a better basis for conducting international relations.
You are dead right. Thanks for the encouragment. Now, if only Barry could read, I would send him this.
I am with you, Hang them high, apologize later. Barry can do the apologizing, as he is so good at it.
I volunteer for the hangin' part How tough can it be>?
San Francisco uniqueness has been fading for years, it's just getting more press because it's so out-of-touch. Used to be the laissez-faire idea of "I don't care what people do, as long as they don't do it in the streets and frighten the horses." Now it's "Why shouldn't people have sex with horses so long as it's consensual?" Many years ago, it was just a given in Northern California that "The City" meant San Francisco. Right up until Herb Caen made a trip to San Jose, and mentioned to someone that he was from The City. The local replied, "what city?"
Gibbs said in a press conference it wasn't a bow and tried to blow it off. The thing is in the Saudi papers they're reporting it as a bow, so if they they think it's a bow they're going to treat it as such and it doesn't matter how much the American media tries to ignore it. That's how they see it, so for all practical effects, that's what it is.

Obama has said he preferred law enforcement on terrorism and that's what he's showing here with FBI involvement being the preferred method of "fixing" the situation. It's pre-9/11 thinking again when it comes to terrorism, since piracy was the first internationally recognized form of terrorism with precedent as such going back centuries. So I'm sure there is much glee in many camps scattered around Southwest Asia and Africa right now about how the US is likely to respond to their own terrorist operations.
President Obama means well. And he'll never be convinced his world view or approach to 'politics' is inappropriate or empowering our opponents. He seems to be unaware of the fact he is the 'head man' of the free world and the last superpower, which apparently he sees as an evil thing. He's a big thinker who lacks a balanced vision. Unfortunately, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Fortunately, if he does an even worse job than Jimmy Carter (which appears likely) and the US suffers for it, the prez and his liberal supporters will also suffer along with the rest of us. Too bad he's such partisan politician.

The administration definitely could, and should be blamed. The company that owns the ship may be Dutch, but if its flying an American flag then it's considered an American ship subject to US rules and under the US's responsibility. By allowing the wishes of the company to supersede America's long standing policy on not negotiating with terrorists (since pirates are considered terrorists by all civilized nations) the administration is projecting a very weak, and dangerous, message about how the US will respond to further attacks.
The shipping company may ask the US government to do things, and the government should take their wishes into account, but the US has the final responsibility for how vessels carrying her flag are operated, or in this case rescued. Obama is voting "present" on a situation that is clearly covered by US longstanding policy and law. Who knows maybe his maritime rules and regulations briefing was on the same day as his protocol one and he decided to skip both to go to the gym.
If Barry's despicable gesture of obeisance to that King of the Wahabi Terrorists were translated into dog "language", he would have rolled over onto his back and offered his neck to Fahd as a token of surrender.
Now I feel guilty for comparing those two to dogs, because I'm a dog lover, and should have showed more respect to canines than to compare them to those two clowns…: – (

If Philly seems normal, than San Francisco must be even more terrifying than I imagined!
Why doesn't he just drop the pathetic charade and pay the "pirates" (e.g., Somali Muslim terrorists) whatever they demand. Maybe he could even add a provision to the budget to allocate several million dollars a year for future ransom payments?
We all KNOW that's exactly what's going to happen in the end (unless Barry suddenly decides to grow a set, which is about as unlikely as me winning the Grand Prize in the PowerBall lottery…).
Like I said before, it would be much cheaper just to fly the flags of Russia of China on all American vessels, because then the terrorists would never dare mess with THEM…!
In that case, I'll drop them off at Spielberg's.
She is beautiful. That's for sure.

Hee hee. "terrifiying" is subjective.
Philly is a comfortable kind of liberal town – union control, high taxes, racial politics and general corruption.
San Francisco on the other hand – insane. I've witnessed bus drivers wearing Hamas propaganda buttons, militant lesbians shouting me down while demanding "tolerance" and debates whether rebuilding a highway has racist implications.
Oh Sonoma. That is a wonderful place. Between you and me, I like the Sonoma wine country better than Napa.
Just wait until the Europeans and our multicultural-left see what happens when the Chinese try to step into the role of the world's "co-cop." The part of the world on their beat is in for a rude surprise because they don't play the way we do. And they don't apologize.
A Navy warship would seem, to me, to be a great negotiating chip.
How about the USS Ronald Reagan or the USS Abraham Lincoln, both are Nimitz class carriers.
You're missing the big picture. Hijacking a ship and holding people for ransom is NOT a business dispute. Why do you think that there has been a flood of piracy in the past year or so? The quick answer is because it is very very lucrative, and the pirates have discovered that there is practically no downside to their actions, no matter what. Everyone wants to pay them off, and then pretend they can continue their business as usual; hardly the stuff of future deterrence. They are the new bullyboys on the block, and will continue to do whatever they please until someone decides to say "sez you". I'm waiting for our president to say "sez you", but will probably have to settle for our next president to utter the words.
Right now we have a navy warship negotiating with a dingy thanks to Obama's policies. And now this: http://www.mcclatchydc.com/world/story/65810.html
They are going to start giving America wedgies next. Obama is looking like an ineffectual wimp and our enemies are all going to want to score points against us.
He is a coward. S,ppzomg to other countries and beating the American people to a pulp because he "won". We all know people like him. Everyone thinks they are great but behind closed doors those people beat their wives and kids.
Yeah, all of Europe was gaga over him. They don't have to live with him.
People think the riotous celebrations that broke out when the U.S. hockey team beat the U.S.S.R. (then who? Denmark? Sweden? for the gold) that it was JUST a hockey game. IT WAS F-ING CARTER!. "We the People" had been beaten down by the ineptitude that was embodied by Carter. High unemployment, record high interest rates, ridiculous inflation (it'll be back) and no energy policy. That would have bad enough for any typical one-termer but NOOOOOO! (to channel 70's Steve Martin), he gets his nuts yanked by Islam and Iran more specifically. 444 days….what a pathetic, impotent, weak, tiny mouse of a man. I had a buddy serving on the America during that period, what a magnificent sight I'm sure. Every single American that doubts this country should get off their lazy asses and see an American carrier at anchor. What an AWESOME sight!, That the symbol of U.S. power, not a moron, secularist , America hater bowing to a Saudi royal.
Yawn.
Oh look, a caricature raised up in a pathetic attempt to scream "TU QUOQUE" as if that would make things all better with regard to Obama's actions. Or lack of.
Simply put, piracy on the high seas is not a private matter. The ship is "owned" by a Dutch company. That's the country which is likely to become the first Islamic nation in Europe since 1492. If the Dutch want to pay ransom and give up their national identity, so be it. But NOT on a ship flying an American flag.
Obama IS a curiosity, sort of like a two-headed snake. He didn't travel because of any intellectual curiosity. He traveled because his trashy mother couldn't decide whom she wanted to sleep with next and dragged him around with her. Obama is just a parochial-minded twit who is in awe of all those cool people overseas. He couldn't be more provincial if he had lived his entire life in Possum Holler.
A Navy warship is only a great negotiating chip if the pirates believe you are actually going to use it.
just like the black hawk down incident, this will encourage enemies of the west to attack us, but don't worry, Obama's heavy spending will put China in the drivers seat and we will be their protected vasals, as long as we pay them well, like a prostitute pays her abusive pimp.
[...] How did we ever get along without Big Hollywood Blog? Imagine Vladamir Putin on a European trip apologizing for Russia invading its neighbors and [...]
Or "nationalistic," which to people like him is a euphemism for "fascist."
