All the Wrong Moves
by James HudnallIf the last two months are any indication, Barack Obama is a better bowler than he is a president.
And to think all the “smart people” in Hollywood sold him as a “brilliant” mind. Of course, this is brilliant by Hollywood standards. The place that remade “The Beverly Hillbillies.”
Let’s review how brilliant the president is. After spending his campaign complaining about President Bush’s lavish outlays, he decided to triple it. Not just triple it, but spend more than all the presidents who preceded him combined. Take a good look at this chart of deficits and look at the one he’s projected. Here is a “best case” scenario from Obama fluffer network MSNBC. Now this is how his budget stacks up against “stupid” president Bush and others before him. This is Bush’s deficits compared to Obama’s. Yes, Obama’s budget is brilliant if you want to bankrupt the U.S. and keep its citizens indebted for generations. But maybe that’s his cunning plan.
According to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office Obama’s deficits could reach 9.3 trillion dollars. How much is a trillion anyway? Here’s a visualization. It’s an insane amount of money. There is no real excuse for the spending were doing other than gross incompetence or corruption. The government is supposed to watch these financial institutions to prevent the kinds of things that were happening, but instead they encouraged a lot of it.
It will take generations to pay off this debt. And for what exactly? So corrupt businesses can be saved? So failed companies who failed because of government policies and unions can continue to fail a little longer? They gave billions to failed banks with no conditions and the money went overseas. They gave billions to AIG three times, and billions went overseas. They got all upset because AIG wanted to pay bonuses to their execs, as they were contractually obligated to do, and then decided to tell the angry mob their names and where they lived so the mob would have a scapegoat other than the politicians who set up this mess in the first place.
They got so “outraged” they decided they wanted to pass laws to break contracts and take over any company they feel is “corrupt.” This means that the government could decide to take over any company at any time. Nullify any contracts. Basically kill the rule of law and give the government unprecedented powers over business. Like a totalitarian state. Like a banana republic.
What business would want to operate here under those conditions?
But that’s not all. The president wants to draft our kids into some pseudo-military and put them in education camps. The bill approving this has already passed.
…the legislation threatens the voluntary nature of Americorps by calling for consideration of “a workable, fair and reasonable mandatory service requirement for all able young people.” It anticipates the possibility of requiring “all individuals in the United States” to perform such service, including elementary school students. The bill also summons up unsettling memories of World War II-era paramilitary groups by saying the new program should “combine the best practices of civilian service with the best aspects of military service,” while establishing “campuses” that serve as “operational headquarters,” complete with “superintendents” and “uniforms” for all participants. It allows for the elimination of all age restrictions in order to involve Americans at all stages of life. And, it calls for the creation of “a permanent cadre” in a “National Community Civilian Corps.”
But that’s not all. The bill also calls for “youth engagement zones” in which “service learning” is “a mandatory part of the curriculum in all of the secondary schools served by the local educational agency.”
Gosh, what kind of education do you think they will get at these camps? Maybe global warming hysteria lessons which will be used to incite them to watch their friends and parents to make sure they aren’t “carbon criminals.” After all, Obama wants to enforce a cap and trade program that is designed to punish energy companies and other industrial factories. And they will of course be forced to pass the costs along to you, driving oil prices back up, gas prices over $4 a gallon again. Maybe $5 or $6 or even $8 a gallon like it is in Europe. In other words, it will cause a loss of more jobs and hurt the economy way more than it is now. He still looks brilliant to you?
Well, let’s add the latest genius move. The so called “Food Safety Act” which would punish small farmers by putting them under a mountain of byzantine regulations that would shut them down. And punish people who try to grow their own food with million dollar fines. This will make people reliant on big agri-corporations and restrict or ban people from trying to support themselves.
Obama’s government is going for the most extreme kinds of control over financial, auto, energy and agriculture companies. Either through their bailouts which come with strings, or new autocratic laws.
How is he supposed to save the economy by making it worse exactly? Is this his brilliant plan?
Who can forget all those dopey celebrities singing songs about how great Obama is. I’ve never seen such a creepier bunch of dolts in my life. All those Internet videos of singing children who looked like they were auditioning for Kim Jong II. Guess what, chumps? You’ve been played. If Obama does one good thing, he’ll prove that race doesn’t matter. Politicians are their own hideous species.
The last two months feels like a “re-imagining” of 1984 with “meet cute” moments. He’s the product of the so called “smart people.” The culture mavens who have talk shows where they claim to tell us what’s “really going on” through their alleged jokes that sound more like desperation with a laugh track. Of course, nowadays they don’t use canned laughter. They just collect a studio full of ideologues who laugh on cue. It’s the bland leading the bland.
The media was shoving Obama down everyone’s throats last year. And now we see what a great choice he was. This is a man with little experience and no accomplishments other than getting elected to higher positions every time he gets a job.
The next time a bunch of celebrities want to sing you a song about their great leader, bring a bunch of rotting vegetables to throw at them.

Hmmm. A "civilian army" complete with an indoctrination phase, government takeover of private businesses, hijacking the census, regardless of what his lackey says, taking blame for the worlds ills whether the U.S. is at fault or not (Mexico, not our fault Hillary!). My question is, will Obama actually name his political police force "Gestapo" of invent a new name?
With regard to your CBO graph showing an actual $86,400,000 surplus in 2000, this is a fantasy. First of all Department of Public Debt records show no such surplus, even when taking into account the fallacious practice of adding in the Social Security Reserve (which is actually nothing but an IOU) into account. The distinction between a minor deficit and minor surplus seems unimportant but the misstating of such allows demagogues too easy of a propaganda meme.
I have the feeling it's going to take a little bit more than Tea Parties around the country to fix what Obama is busy breaking.
No, he'll follow in the footsteps of precedence. It'll just be the "Obama Youth" not the "Hitler Youth".
If I have to die in this time of "Hope and Change", it will be with me opposing the government taking my kids. There is where the line in the sand will be for me. And I'm preparing for it happening.
Yep, but those where the charts I found by googling. Government charts are what they are. As far as Clinton's "surpluses" go, he was just continuing Bush 41's economic policies on spending. If Bush 41 had been reelected, it would have probably been the same, maybe better because he wouldn't have raised taxes so much.
Gun sales are WAY UP nationally. People are girding for the coming battle. I always liked "Red Dawn" the movie, I just never thought it would be my own government preparing to try to subjugate me. This is unbelieveable.
This Communist is setting the table. He thinks he can run car companies now.
Would you like a peek into the future of "GM – Government Motors?"
http://www.topgear.com/us/videos/more/communist-c...
Stupid idiot.
WOLVERINES!!!!!!!
Yup. Now if there were a way to take everyone from their tea parties and plop them in the streets of DC, we might get something. Instead of a Million Man March, how 'bout an Assload of Angry Americans? That sounds a lot more imposing than a "tea party."
Yes, but it's a start. There's one in San Diego on April 11th.
And, no one's being forced to go, unlike being drafted into Obama's service corps.
http://templeofmut.wordpress.com/2009/03/13/san-d...
Go Galt? To Hell with that! Let's go Goth!
Get your axes and torches boys! The city of seven hills must burn!
I've come up with a new band name: President Obogus and the Gutter Balls
As a gun owner, I like going places to see firearms. But nowadays there are no guns to see.
The line was two blocks long at the gun show. Dealers are showing empty shelves. The sporting goods store Saturday had one Kahr .40 left, out of a wall usually full of handguns. The only ammo around in any quantity was .22 and .303 British. WalMart has nothing but bird loads for shotguns.
"Red Dawn" was shot in NM. I may have to get re-acquainted with the more remote parts again.
As good a cry to arms as any!
Obama was elected because he appeals to the simple minded. He speaks in empty, populist rhetoric that means absolutely nothing ("Jobs, healthcare, puppies!!!") but it makes The Daily Show crowd all tingly in their nether regions so no one looks beyond anything he says. As a young conservative (I'm 25) I know a lot of these people and for every one of them that really knows Obama's views and policies there are at least 10 who just like the way he makes them feel.
Understood. I realize my comments are a digression from the serious points you make. I simply caution about adopting the lexicon and narrative of the Left.
It is time to prepare, we must be buying and storing guns, gold, beans and bullets. There is an old saying, "si vis pacem para bellum."
We have to cancel out the ACORN voter fraud any means possible. Any means possible and if we fail on 2012 then God help America, we will be in deeper trouble with an Obama 2nd term and nothing to lose.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA — Bash our great new intelligent President's first 70 days all you want, you GOP losers…
do you really think anyone intelligent would have actually voted in that turncoat McCain? And bowling would kill his fragile old man heart…
McCain didn't even "know who to work e-mail"…and could never even read your repetitive, stoopid remarks here on this GOP bedwetter column THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HOLLYWOOD!
And unwed soccer Mom -of-the-Year Palin? You're all very quick to cut up the new leadership but you offer NO solutiolns to, well — anything…
The US is in the mess thanks to Reaganomics — becasue everyone's mortgage portfolios are scattered around
the world and no one can redefine their terms with Jimmy Stewart — you all can thank Ronnie Raygun for this doomed US and global (get it?) Financials debacle of ALL TIME!
March for Liberty, July 4th. Washington DC http://marchforliberty.org/marchdetails.html
Been stocking soup, canned veggies, lightbulbs, etc. Learning about gardening and canning this year. My grandmother has a killer dill pickle recipe. My family has guns, some land, cousins who run cattle and know how to hunt, and best of all: we live in flyover country.
What kind of tool bowls while wearing a tie?
LOL at the troll's attempt at insults…. Looks like he reads al franken's "It's dark and cold in the Gay Liberal Closet"
July 4th in DC. Read all about it!
http://www.reteaparty.com/
PS How long will it be before BO has infomercials at the White House? Sounds crazy now……just wait
Blah blah blah…leftie talking points…yadda yadda yadda. Look at the charts.
Didn't you see that digital Townhall he did last week? Same difference.
I have to admit, it's the first time I can think of in my lifetime that a President "fired" the head of a corporation. I've seen Presidents use the bully pulpit to convince and recruit, but this was a bully at the pulpit threatening to withhold bailout funds to determine who will run the corporations he's buoying up with our tax money. I don't like the bailouts in the first place, but I Iike extortion and blackmail even less. The incompetence of the head of GM has now been rendered irrelevant by the high-handedness of a dictatorial President.
I vote for Parabamists. It's a combination of Obama, paramilitary, and parasites.
Agreed re: preznit karaoke now setting hiring/firing policy at one of the world's largest companies. Are we to look at his stellar candidates for cabinet positions and feel better about what he's doing at GM? And not to forget the stellar job he's doing over at Treasury with the hiring.
But we digress- did you happen to see when Obama will be firing the head of the UAW?
wow, so much concentrated stupid. You have to work in an asbestos suit, or else you're covered in idiot scars.
You started tippling the moronberry flavored kool-aid a bit early today, eh sport?
the kind of poser tools that only bowl for photo ops.
Fat chance, huh?
As I recall there were historical "stories" about presidents threatening a private industry bigwig, but nothing was ever proven/confirmed(?)…
Govt Motors = People's Wagon?
National Community Civilian Corps = Youth Squads?
Bank Buyouts = Bank Nationalization…
Do we really need to continue where this is pointing? (and to think the left tried to make these comparisons to Bush?)
No James, I'm developing carpul tunnel from the TV remote. As soon as his visage appears on screen I click – back to Leave It To Beaver. I did the same thing with Clinton. But, I was younger then, and much more ambidextrous(and I never thought I would ever say this) but now I miss Clinton. It's getting pretty bad.
Excellent article.
Very true. The difference here is all the others used indirect intimidation, and had only their inherent power as President to wield the bludgeon. They still needed Congress and/or the people on their side. LBJ, FDR and Teddy Roosevelt were masters of it. Here, we have a President with complete control over funds which have already been voted by Congress. Obama giveth, and Obama taketh away. Blessed be the name of Obama.
====Bash our great new intelligent President's=====
Thank God I wasn't drinking when I read that.
You should tell your intelligent president the US has 50 states not 57 and tell Joe Biden that "jobs" is a 4 letter word not 3.
Don't worry, I'm sure they'll take that troublesome remote away from you soon. They'll call it smart-network tech or something and they'll be able to determine the best use of your viewing time by narrowing all your choices down to just one channel.
No parent will ever allow their kids to be dragged off to a goverment re-education camp. Even the lib parents will balk at that. Of course, some will "assume" or "feel" that it must be OK, because Obama never would have signed the law if it wasn't…..but the other 85 percent of parents won't. Of course, then the obamacorps will come and attempt to drag them away by force, and the dad at the very first house will gun them down. The obama-worship media will commence a non-stop campaign against the gun-toting right wingers – after all, they're all crazies who gunned down innocent volunteers……and then they will come for your guns, lest it happen again. What a horror scenario. Coming soon to a theater – no, Neighborhood near you.
No, they will give you a choice of two deluxe channels. One showing government propaganda, the other telling you to change back to the first channel.
Yeah, I would love it if they came for my kids. LOVE IT! BRING IT ON! WOLVERINES! All that happy horse poop. Tazio, nice to see you are optimistic about the lib parents, but I'm not. They will just bend over and take it, because as you said – Obama would never sign it into law unless it was a good thing. He is our Messiah and Savior. Blessed Be Obama!
I will home school my kids (if that's still legal), or just go off the grid, before I let them get indoctrinated.
I'm going to look into that July 4th event and any other events that are going on in and around my hometown.

Yeah, all dumba$$ missed was the Bush rant, but I'm sure that's soon to follow.
On the bright side.
After eight years of continuously chanting "George Bush's Huge Deficiits", then Barrack Obama claiming he would cut taxes for 95% of the American people, while John McCain planned to tax their health care as income, the Democrats confused enough pay-little-heed-to-politics Americans that they were the fiscally responsible party. The complete dishonesty of this must be now repeated over and over every chance we get. People understand that they are being ripped-off and lied to. And as we all know, the contorted policies of raising the minimum wage and raising taxes during an economic downturn, coupled with such massive spending that only can crowd out private sector growth and cause inflation spell doom for the Democratic control of Congress. Barrack Cliche Obama's lack of any real substance and intelligence will become mainfest with each passing week.
These lying jack-booted mean-spirited name throwing propagandists will be hoisted on their own petards!

Is anyone surprised? He told us he was a socialist.
Conservatives: prosperity, not control.
Liberals: control, not prosperity.
Anyone got two of those Obama O stickers? I need 'em to spell out dOOfus on my car bumper.
Think of how many fascist dictators we could overthrow with just half of that money.
Thank God we have a president who can use email and articulate words while he's driving the country bankrupt. I can see how those would be valuable skills to a 20 year old liberal, since that's all you know about the world– Emailing, talking, and spending other people's money.
"Obama fluffer network MSNBC" ? Hmmm. That's not the Chatsworth film busines definition of "fluffer" is it?
Don't fool yourselves people. This isn't a left vs right thing. McCain would have gone down the same path. Obama is a puppet of the banking oligarchy (as would have McCain been). The sooner we _all_ realise this (both conservatives and liberals) the sooner we can stop bickering amongst ourselves and focus on reclaiming the country back. The whole left-right paradigm is manufactured by them so they can run their agenda regardless of who is in power. We need to fight back against these criminals and the only way we can do that is by fighting together, otherwise, this phoney democracy will live on….
Aye. Maybe I should say, Obama's Wannabe Fluffer network.
Just for the record, he implied there were 60 states. "I have been to…umm..errr..umm 57 states now…one to go…my handlers won't let me go to Hawaii or Alaska..hahahaha…." or something like that anyway. But it was not just 57 states, it was 60 states.
Clearly I underestimated obama’s stupidity.
Yo, boyee! Dat's da shiznit!
I don't think McCain would have come close to being this stinking awful. Obama is Jimmy Carter on steroids.
Still, McCain is no Reagan. And what we need to arise like the Phoenix is a new Reagan.
Obama makes Carter look like Barry Goldwater.
Both Carter and Obama have one thing in common – the influence of Trilateralist criminal Zbigniew Brzezinski. Most worrying. McCain was never going to get in, because the people needed 'someone to believe in' (newspeak for 'someone to be fooled by') in order to get away with the insane spending they are undertaking. Throw in the GIVE Act, Food Protection Act, and the DOD's civilian expeditionary force (more newspeak rubbish), and the centralization and federalization roll on, until the Constitution is all but forgotten and liberty is a fairy tale from the past. Ron Paul is the new Phoenix, but it was made pretty clear that the MSM and even the Republican Party wanted to distance themselves from him. The powers that be would never let him get his foot in the door, because they know they'd be exposed, along with the truth that would prove they planned and engineered this glocal economic crisis. Webster Tarpley was right all along…
I believe McCain's biggest mistake was not standing up and saying, "I'm not voting for this overblown piece of lard they're calling a 'bailout', and I'll tell you why…" and then started listing the earmarks.
As soon as he voted for it, I knew he was done.
I have never shot a gun. But, I must admit that I have never thought about buying one as much as I have in the last two months.
I am trying not to be paranoid. But, The Obama is making it awful hard.
"Thank God we have a president who can use email and articulate words while he's driving the country bankrupt."
Very, well stated.
That's not stupidity, he simply misspoke.
Remember: it's only stupidity when George Bush misspeaks.
Agreed. Talk about missing a chance to really define yourself to the American people…
The thing that was amazing to me was, during the election when McCain suspended the campaign to return to straighten out TARP. They all got on the same page and tra…la the rape of America was underway in a, eh…hmm… bipartisan way. For me it was epiphany that it really mattered not who was in office the only difference between the 2 parties is by degree. I believe the political class loves the masses tearing each others eyes out over politics, just sayin, the swamp needs to be drained.
Orwell, Koestler, Hayek and )more recently) Jonah Goldberg have argued persuasively that the true goal of the Left is not human betterment but human control – And not just your run-of-the-mill dictatorial power but a control that saturates every level and every detail of personal life. The President and his party are well on their way to nationalizing the economy under the guise of "stimulus." They are planning new environmental regulations that will literally require the monitoring of every human activity to insure we don't "abuse" our share of natrual resources. (See Sheryl Crowe on toilet paper.) A state-run "volunteer" youth corps is a perfect forum for indoctrination in "right thinking" and approved conformity. The movement has begun to bring back the "Fairness" doctrine and develop othe ways of strangling dissent. Rahm Emmuanuel is reported to have said, referring to the economic situation, that "this is a crisis that is too good to waste." I think Goring said the same thing about the Reichstag Fire.
James, this is a little late in the discussion but Clinton was fiscally roped in by a GOP majority delivered to him on a platter by the fiasco called "HillaryCare". Well, fourteen years have passed and socialized medicine is back on the agenda.Let's hope the voting public reacts the same way.
Ken, me either. As strongly as as I support the second amendment and those that choose to legally arm themselves and defend themselves, their families and their property I always bought guitars and bass guitars with my gun money. Perhaps a firearm is a sign of these "bad new times".
Socialized Medicine is a major mistake. It seems to be another thing Obama is trying to force on us. Statists like it because it makes people even more dependent on the government. It really needs to be stopped.
There were a lot of things I didn't even put in this article I could have. One of them is their plans to get everyone to install these monitors in their homes, so they can control the electrical flow to a house and even set your thermostats remotely. Yeah.
Orwell was a socialist. But he saw what a nightmare Russia became under Stalin and he became a big critic of the communists.
They are trying to do too much, too fast and I think it will backfire. The anger is building and building and any politician who backed Obama's policies (or is part of the Pelosi/Reid axis of idiots) is really going to regret it. The next election is going to be interesting to watch.
If you're going to make a column like this, it would be wise to learn the difference between a debt and a deficit. Obama will not be running a 9.3 trillion dollar deficit. In fact, when you actually factor in the cost of the 2 wars, Obama's deficits won't be much more then what Bush was running in his most expensive years.
Obama is a joke, except when the liberals picked the joke, you won't hear the usual intolerant, classless, debased vile commentary filling your airwaves. That's because liberals run the media, and they are essentially liars, as they see fit. The only good thing about this guy is that he will likely finish off his ilk for good, and they will be relegated, rightly, to a small place in the history of the 20th century. It can't come soon enough…..
[...] This is absolutely [...]
there is a small bright side to this. After listening to the we need a change Bush is an idiot ,before the election
and me trying to tell my coworkers that big goverment is what there going to get and they won't like it . I can sit back and smile with that "i told ya" look.
Gezz wait till till they get a load of the health care when it hits and they can't see the doctor they want.SWEET!
Actually, I know the difference, That was a mistake that got through. Good catch.
James, I'll be in jolly England this summer (amongst other socialist utopias), I plan to do extensive interviews with the sheep, er people of those countries to see what the everyday citizen thinks about their medical systems among other topics. It should be interesting. I'm guessing the best health care strategy in England is "don't get sick"!
I used to live there. The NHS was always in the news for botching some simple operation. Like they would cut off the wrong limb in an amputation or kill people by using the wrong anesthesia. Now they deny care to people over 70s, or of they're overweight, smokers or drinkers. Yet you are still forced to pay into the system,. It's evil. And it's teh same in Japan, which has a similar system. Canada's is also failing miserably
–But we digress- did you happen to see when Obama will be firing the head of the UAW?–
Now, that's change I can believe in! Maybe just disband it.
Yea and verily, to the shores of Potomac, to smite the Banking Queen……..
Debut album:
The messiah ya drink, the stimulus ya get…..
apologies, Joe!
Interesting. I'm considering seeking a teaching post or some other form of university subsidized reason to live there for a year or two (eeks, I'm speaking liberal speak, "subsidized"!) I have a boat load of research to do there. I've heard some horror stories about the poor quaility of health care in England, hopefully i won't need to utilize it for myself.
Looks like the Democrats just stole the Senate seat from Norm Coleman in Minnesota. More gasoline on a growing fire of anger and discontent. I hope it's 110 degrees all summer and the revelution spills out on to the streets. We have to take back the processes of government that liberal judges have been dismantleing for 30 years now.

Give it up and hurry. Your short yellow bus is out front waiting for you. C'mon, he's honking the horn. Can you say that, ……Horn, Sure……..
I find it ironic that a White Republican ended slavery, and now a Black Democrat wants to re-instate it.
Well, the difference between the UK and Canada is that you can get private care which is pretty much like it is here. You can risk using the NHS if you want, but it's basically like socialized medicine around the world. Bad. It does get the job done in many cases, but you'll have to wait hours in waiting rooms before you'll be seen and they don't give a crap.
In Canada it's actually illegal to use a private care doctor. All those Canadians who come to the US for their healthcare are breaking the law there. Can you believe that?
It's insanity like that which makes me write articles like the one above. I can't stand bureaucrats.

Interesting. Anytime you take any system and suddenly dump 46 million (at least, and including NON-CITIZENS) more people into it as full participants you get one result, an over whelmed system. So the next step is rationing, to cope with the influx. When the money starts to dry up you have less providers leading to more rationing…the spiral leads down and down and down. the new H.H.S. nominee is a travesty. Her unsympathetic treatment of "late term abortion" VICTIMS should horrify anybody that has looked into her record in Kansas. An idiot jury just acquited a henious murderer that literally killed aborted but viable babys. Dispicable, just like Mengele, perhaps his role in this new Obama / Nazi Reich he is reprising.
To this day I believe the "Million Man March" was a missed opprotunity to do a giant warrant check. Put up a fence and start processing…it would have turned into the "twenty seven guys march".
I was just bashing the Gov. of Kansas, Kathleen Sebelius she's in charge of letting doctors kill babies in Kansas. Just off the wire,SHE DIDN'T PAY $7000 in taxes just like the rest of Obama's criminals he has in his cabinet. What the F–K is it about Democrats and NOT paying U.S. taxes?
What an uninformed dolt you are. It wasn't that McCain didn't know how to send email, but that the lifelong injuries he suffered those 5 years as a POW left him unable to recover enough mobility in his arms to type on a keyboard. What a jackass you are. Typical Obamaboob
Ummm… I hate to burst your bubble. I am from Ontario Canada and I have never had trouble with healthcare. Our healthcare isn't socialized our insurance is… My last major medical issue was with my knee. I blew it out (way out) at a soccer game, the taxi to the hospital cost more than the Doc checking, the referral to the bone-doc, the MRI, the surgery (ACL replaced knee cap sewn up), and a day in the hospital! Therapy was done privatley wich was a bit expensive but I have heard this would cost me 40,000$ US in america w/o insurance.
I know more Americans working in Canada than I do Born-Canadians buying drugs in the US (drugs are expensive down south!)
What is your motive for lying about my country?
God I love the ravings of the right now that they're out of power. It's like watching a defanged monkey in a cage trying to chew through the bars.
They should make Wesley Snipes and Willy Nelson members of his cabinet while they're at it
I could give a big fat ratz azz about you or your country. You can spin socialism anyway you want, it's socialism. Single payer=government payer=socialism. Further proof that Canada is a country of weenies is the fact you were paying a pu$$y game like soccer. Try a sport that requires ALL YOUR LIMBS like real football, baseball or basketball. Hockey, that's tough. Regardless, I was talking about ENGLAND you twit. I saw an interview with a Canadian doctor, because she doesn't get paid enough, she only works TWO DAYS A WEEK. There is NO INCENTIVE TO WORK HARDER. Go feed your goat.
I have a lot of Canadian friends who either live there or ar ex-pats and they tell a completely different story than you. I know them, I don't know you. I know they're honest. Can't say that about you, because I don't know you. But I also read an awful lot about your system as I am critical of socialized systems. For good reasons. I have lived in England twice and seen it first hand. I am a US veteran so I have seen the VA and military health care systems first hand since I was a kid. I have been to several former communist countries like Russia and Belarus and talked at length with people in those countries as well as ex-pats about their system. I have also spent a lot of time researching the subject because I am an info-holic. Especially on areas that interest me.
I'm not going to call you a liar like you did to me. But I suggest you stop with the BS.
Yeah, America's medical system has a lot of faults and problems. But socialism isn't the answer. The Canadian system is getting worse all the time. They are constantly cutting back on services, the wait times are ridiculous.
What's your tax rate in that wasteland / utopia of Canada? Nothing is free twit. Go feed your government supplied goat. Your country sucks azz.
Snipes is a natural, Sec. of Movie Thuggery. Willie, being an old Texan / pothead might have a tougher time with the "vetting" process. Obama likes cokeheads.
The problem with any bureaucracy is it's inhumane. All a bureaucracy is about is getting larger and larger and thus it sucks more and more resources to pay for its bloated, inefficient existence. And that means it has less and less money to pay for the things it was created to take care of. In the case of socialized systems like health care, they start looking for things to cut. They start looking for people they can not treat for reasons they invent. These things like the obesity epidemic were created so they could make an excuse about it. The same with second hand smoke, which they only now admit is BS, but it doesn't matter because it's become part of the public myth.
The taxpayers are forced to pay for these systems, but the bureaucrats don't care. They decide who gets it or not. Imagine going into a store, paying in advance for the products, and then they say you can't have them because they just invented some rule. No refunds.
Because there isn't any incentive to actually WORK in that outdoor deep freeze / animal preserve. Any country that averages .000000065 people per square mile doesn't get much of my attention.
After its all said and done I pay about 30% on my gross income, comprable to the US I think. There is also the GST which is at 13%, way worse than Wisconsin's 5.5% but better than NY's crazy taxes and tolls. And james b. I play austrailian rules football, rugbee, and soccer, I hunt, I fish, and I track. I was looking for a little decent discussion (you realize you are a feature on google news?) but you really cant put your words in all caps and expect to get noticed… Im pretty sure I could tear you limb from limb no matter how loud you type haha
Hundall here are the facts http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_and_America...
I was surprised to see that we wait longer on average here in canada kudos guys (I waited a month for my MRI, a week for my surgery). But we still pay less for our medicine, and the same in taxes. You still havnt answered my question… What is your motive to spread these lies? where are your documented sources? I am a canadian 'conservative' I dont like the GST, but I pay it just the same…
Pretty sure about that tough guy? Come on down to Texas, we don't talk about it we do it. We were even our own country once. Rugbee? Is that the Canadian spelling? Ok, cease fire. I really, really can't accept that putting the government in control of anything except military services will improve it. We in Texas are sparred a state income tax but property tax and other sneaky onerous taxes are on the rise. If money is the mothers milk of politics, tax receipts are the heroin of bureacrats. Like it not bureaucrats run your health care. I won't let a minnions of this president make health decisions for me. Where do most medicines used in Canada get developed and at what R&D costs? Private enterprise does the research, it ain't FREE. Anyway, have a great day.
By the way, wiki and "facts" are dubious bedfellows. Better documentation would buttress your argument in a much better way. We at the University of Texas don't allow Wiki as source material. Being user driven, the "facts" can be agenda driven. Of a poulation of almost 330 million all but about 46 million Americans are covered. They, if need be can go to hospitals like our county facility. The care is top notch and free to those that can't pay. It is located about 2 miles from Mexico and is used by many poor helpless Mexican nationals. We have open arms to those in real need, we don't need another level of bureacrats.
Bureaucrats are nearly all unionized Democrats. That means they exert the least possible effort for the most possible money and benefits. I lived in Austin, Texas for years, it's filthy with teet sucking bureaucrats. Like I said, tax $$$ is the heroin of bureaucrats, and there is no methadone to ween them off with…
Where is that brain dead Matt Damon these days. He was all afraid of Palins belief in Dinosaurs and how scarey that would be..wonder if he is now concerned about our country going the way of the Dinosaur..what a blithering moron. Hope he and all the rest of the koolaide drinking fools enjoy the view of America's downfall.

The only incompetant person in the room is the author of this rhetorical garbage.
I remember back in an old Bloom County, Otis ended up getting a "Star Wars" missile defense grant to build a missile shield by stitching together 1B one dollar bills into a dome covering the entire US. I wonder how many dollar bills that would actually take?
Making it into a hemisphere covering a 3000 miles diameter, about 3.5 quadrillion
Give Emperor Obama enough time to let his criminal mates at the Fed keep printing more money when the Chinese stop buying treasuries, and in three years time that will be how much it costs to buy a carton of beer.
[...] ITEM (and I wish these were all jokes): James Hudnall calls into serious question Obama’s alleged brilliance. [...]
Certainly, Wiki isn't an acceptable source at any University, but if you took the time to check the cited sources embedded in the article you would find stats from the US census, US board of health, Canadian Board of health, Fraiser Ins, Consumer Reports ect.
Did they teach you read into your sources at Longhorn Central? What did you major in? I hear they have an excellent Masters program in eating steak (steers and queers is it?).
And Hundall. Did you read those articles you posted? Or did you just goodle Fail+Canada+Healthcare and cut and paste the links. The bottum three end up acknowledging that both the US and Canada systems are flawed, the second goes as far as saying Canadas system is better on the whole. The first one seems far fetched, I've never stepped into a hospital in any country to see 'carnage' or smell 'urine'
Except for the wait times decreasing the last few years, expansion of coverage recently on pharmacare, and the most efficient dollar-for-dollar system on the planet. Financial efficiency is the strength of public medicine; the weakness is that it lacks a system to require more money into it *. Canada's system is the ultimate system if the government always put enough money in; as it is, it's neither the best nor the worst. We have efficient financing, equitable coverage, a few wait times too long but most services are delivered in decent time or better. The worst of it has been gotten rid of which is easier to do in an organized nation-wide system.
Right now the German healthcare system is doing extremely well; it combines required contributions from employers and employees with organized funds, rather the the government directly, collecting fees which gives the system access to new capital; people can also purchase private insurance if they have sufficient means, although that doesn't except them from contributing via the employer/employee system. The government subsidizes the lowest income demographics. They have universal health care with a combination of public and private system and the shortest wait times in the world.
Obama is proposing requiring employer/employee contributions with exceptions for small businesses, subsidized group pools for people unable to purchase insurance, and a public plan to compete with a private one. Private companies would still form a huge part of the insurance system and doctors would still have their practices ; that's hardly socialized medicine by any stretch.
Not quite. The CEO resigned under pressure. It's not dictatorial considering his company is surviving on government money. It's perfectly legal. The government won't force out incompetent execs as long as they aren't depending on government money to survive. This is far more comparable to a creditor demanding some restructuring in exchange for leniency on the debt. Questionable strategically? Maybe, but I don't see it. Dictatorial? Hardly.
Except for a total lack of slavery involved, this comment is accurate. I don't foresee people being bought and sold. If his ideas are bad it's for their own reasons, not because of a faulty analogy to slavery.
I don't know what happened to that post I did, I don't see it, but as I already said our system is flawed. I just don't want to see it as flawed as yours.
There's a lot of nonsense in this column, and since I enjoy arguing, I'm writing something out in detail.
For the start, Obama is not proposing creating a paramilitary for youth; that's ridiculous. An addition of service learning is entirely separate from Americorps; something the author of the above alarmist column extract above didn't note. The second thing wrong with it is that there aren't any pieces of evidence that the proposed idea is anything more than an idea of what might be added on to a child's education and that service learning is generally community-service oriented; where is the evidence of indoctrination? It sounds like an idea of limited effectiveness, but no, it's not a paramilitary. That's ludicrous.
"Well, let’s add the latest genius move. The so called “Food Safety Act” which would punish small farmers by putting them under a mountain of byzantine regulations that would shut them down. And punish people who try to grow their own food with million dollar fines. This will make people reliant on big agri-corporations and restrict or ban people from trying to support themselves."
This isn't even accurate. The proposed Act doesn't even have a provision to punish people trying to grown their own food. There is no evidence cited here to back up this idea about byzantine regulations that will shut down small farmers, which makes sense, since there aren't any in the proposals. The biggest change that Obama has proposed is cutting farm subisidies that are not tied to production and therefore, according to economists, don't cause more production.
For the record, the first wave of bailout money was supported by most economists because it was necessary. Distasteful, but necessary. One can say that Obama's stimulus package is questionable and certainly accounts for something close to $2 trillion of the projected deficit, by far the biggest source of new spending. This projected deficit is made up of a) The bailout (necessary) b) The stimulus package (useful for economically necessary infrastructure but a large part is unnecessary) c) Much lower tax revenues due to the current slump (the Congressional budget office's forecasts in a slump tend to be conservative – conservative in the financial, not political sense) and d) Obama's other new spending – which so far is in the vicinity of $100-150 billion annually if his health plans are included. The only major source of new debt that is unnecessary is a piece (albeit a large piece) of the stimulus package.
(Continued after)
Obama is 1) Raising taxes on the highest-income tax brackets 2) Raising capital gains taxes 3)Cutting farm subsidies to big agribusinesses (Yes, they made a mistake in proposing $500 000 in revenue as the cut-off rather than $250 000 in profit but they have been amenable to changing that) 4) Increasing revenues with the cap-and-trade system. All of these are austerity measures with political risks involved, which indicates Obama at least has his eye on the deficit, and they are lowering the projected annual deficit to $500 billion in five years (some of this is due to Congressional Democrats, but Obama no doubt included some budget items with an eye toward bargaining). Once you have a budget you can't increase or decrease it faster than a certain point, so that would represent substantial progress. Then it stalls, so Obama will have to take further measures. Will he? Given the somewhat politically risky moves to cut the deficit the odds seem better rather than worse, especially with Senate Democrats talking about the problem of the deficit after the five-year period. Bush didn't even have the deficit on his radar, so things are better off under Obama who at least has an eye toward it. The chief reason for his delay? If he raises taxes again too soon he would be pounded for keeping moving them upwards. I think you can foresee another moderate raise of the highest tax bracket with some additional spending cuts.
One might question Obama's austerity measures, saying he's increasing spending so he has no focus on the deficit. Not quite; if one was to calculate in advance all the proposed healthcare, tax, education measures etc, and consolidate the proposed changes in advance then nothing would ever get done. Doing things requires focusing on one issue at a time. Obama has fulfilled his promises to a) Move out of Iraq responsibly b) Start shutting down Guantanamo Bay c) Start extending healthcare towards universal coverage d) Extend a tax cut to 95% of working Americans (since it includes payers of payroll taxes, it does work out to approximately that) and e) Has extended environmental programs. Whether you like those things or not, his record of acting on his promises is so far pretty good. If he balances the budget during his second term he will have gotten most of the troops out of Iraq, reformed the health care system, shored up crumbling infrastructure and poor schools, extended allowing religious organizations to help people with government money and fixed America's budget situation. This would make him a very accomplished President. Right now, the only caveat is the budget and early signs of caring about the deficit are positive, and although it's certainly folly to trust anyone in politics absolutely I think he has shown enough for us to reserve our judgment for the moment.
I realize some people will predict economic doom with higher top tax rates and capital gains rates but those do not damage the economy; someone who currently gets to keep 63% of his income and 83% of his capital gainst is unlikely to stop trying to make money if he has to accomodate keeping 31% of his income and 77% of his capital gains. Incentives are economically vital for sure; however, a slight reduction in the incentive (with a strong incentive to invest still in existence) has not shown itself to damage a capitalist economy. People will still follow incentives, and strong incentives to invest are still there.
If you have gotten to the bottom of this spiel and are this dedicated, congratulations.

EDIT: 31% of income and 77% of capital gainst should read 61% of income and 77% of capital gains.
James M.–I will guarantee you that the 61%will become 58% due to lost deductions, and does not include state and local taxes, bringing it in most cases to 50%. I owned a small business (which is mostly who Obama's increases will affect). I lived with this during the Clinton years and fixed it–I sold the business. My take home pay nearly tripled (learn how Sub S and LLC's are taxed). The large corporation that bought the business has eliminated half the workers by cutting the services we provided (and were paid well for). There, that ought to fix our unemployment problem.
Let's just see if the "rich" are the only one whose taxes are raised when these particular birds come home to roost. And remember, inflation is a tax on the poor. They can't own assets which appreciate.
Oh come on, guys – vinyl is SO old school. Have ya heard – music is on those little shiny CD thingies now. Only one side!
You must be old white dudes if you're thinkin' vinyl. Which means you are stereotypical non-Democrats!
Just kidding! Brilliant stuff.
Prepare for the constitutional convention.
