I think everyone needs to back up a few steps here. Rush occasionally refers to Obama's statements as having an "expiration date", and if I'm not mistaken, the term came from someone in Obama's administration. That being the case, Obama's Special Olympics gaffe has expired… it's like it never happened, so why discuss it? All is well with the Nation, and with the world in general. Just sit back and wait for the Portugese water dog to arrive – we're in good hands!

When the Imus situation came about not only did Candidate Obama call for him to be fired, but he also made a statement that anyone who worked for his campaign that said something similar would immediately be fired. I seriously doubt though that President Obama will carry through with is pledge and fire himself though.

As for the contention by some on the left that if a Republican made a similar "innocent yet dimwitted" comment, and sincerely apologized for it then they'd be forgiven too, I'd like to refer them to Trent Lott. I'm sure he'd have something to say about that theory as well.

Okay, consider this:

Don Imus makes a tasteless comment (on a syndicated radio program) about a women's college basketball team. Despite his (frequent) apologies, Senator Barack Obama calls on NBC to have Imus fired. Months later, President Obama makes a tasteless comment about hundreds (if not thousands) of people…and his apology should be accepted, even though Obama would NOT accept Imus' apology.

Oh, and because Obama apologizes, this is seen by the media as no big deal. It's been said by so many others that it would certainly have been a HUGE deal if Bush – or ANY Republican, for that matter – had made the same comment. This is the hypocrisy – the do-as-we-say-not-as-we-do – that annoys the hell out of me. Not just from Obama, but from politicians in general.

What Obama says and does represents the United States. It represents all of us. When I'm wearing my work uniform, I represent my company – even if I'm sitting in a restaurant having dinner. I'm aware that what I say – any joke, any comment, even a small thing like not saying "excuse me" – shows what kind of people we hire and what level of professionalism we have. If I had made a comment like Obama's, it would reflect on my company. I knew this without having to have it explained to me. If every gaffe Bush made reflects this country, why should Obama be any different?

Obama is as phony as his birth certificate. Bush was heralding the start of an American institution right after the henious murder of about 3000 U.S. citizens and with Special Ops already on the ground on the other side of the world at the latest start of the war between Chritianity and Judaism against Islam. Nah, no biggie. By the way he put that pitch in there like a man, not gutter balling like 12 year old girl. You have your little queen of a President, enjoy it.
