The Day After: My First Impression of Sarah Palin
by Jeremy D. BoreingI wrote this piece for some friends a week after John McCain named a relatively unknown woman from Alaska as his running mate. Since only ten people ever read it, I thought I would re-post it here, perhaps the most revealing day in the storied history of Modern Feminism. Yesterday, over one-hundred and sixty years after Susan B. Anthony joined the movement for women’s suffrage, just five American women actively held the title of Governor of their state. Today, there are only four, and rather than be enraged by the sudden decline to less than ten-percent of all state-executive offices, the entrenched modern feminist powers are rejoicing, because it is they who brought down the governorship of Sarah Palin.
Sarah Palin and the Lie of Women’s Rights
September 6, 2008
As anyone who has been to Huffington Post in the last seven days knows, the entire world has changed. In January, the big story in the media was that some woman was running against Barack Obama for the Democratic nomination for president of the United States. In June, the story was that some old war-lover was running against Barack Obama in the general election. Seven days ago, Barack Obama, only hours off of the biggest moment of his campaign, disappeared from the news cycle entirely. The only name in the media today, for better or for worse, is Sarah Palin. For better because she has single-handedly solved John McCain’s two biggest problems, his base, and his base.
Conservatives love her for her deadly pen, which has been known to slash government spending and taxes with masterful strokes. Social-Conservatives (read: Evangelicals) love her because she walks the walk on their biggest single issue: The Right to Life. For worse, because the lion’s share of the press that swirls around her has been decidedly, sexistly, disproportionately negative. In seven days, the media has managed to bring to light more dirt on this previously (nationally) unknown woman than they have apparently discovered in eighteen months of covering Barack what’s-his-name. You remember, last-year’s political celebrity… It has been a no-holds-barred, full-frontal assault on everything from her mothering skills, to her record (suddenly the press is interested in EXPERIENCE as a prerequisite for the presidency), to what kind of clothes she wore as a teenager (experimenting with cocaine and Marxism don’t get the media’s attention, but flirty t-shirts are big news these days). Even her hair-do seems worthy of criticism.
So, the obvious question is: Why? Why has a bona-fide American hero with a record of reform, running as his party’s nominee for the presidency, barely earned a passing glance from the main-stream media, but this hockey-mom-turned-governor seeking the least important job in the country has turned the world upside down? And why all the hate from the transcendent left? What about this woman so incenses the extreme, vocal left-wing of the Democratic Party that they can’t even stop slinging filth at her long enough to remind us that their messiah is still running for the big job? The answer isn’t hard to discern. Feminism is to the Left what the Evangelicals are to the Right, they are the conscience of the Democratic Party, and Sarah Palin is proof positive that modern feminism’s stated objective is a lie.
Organized Feminism started over one-hundred and sixty years ago as an answer to the gross injustice of the subjugation of women in our country. Even as the country was moving on a collision course with it’s own moral failings regarding slavery, heroes like Susan B. Anthony were making even bigger claims. It was not enough that all men be granted equal protection under the law, although they certainly should be. No, for our country to be truly free, this right had to extend to all women as well. The struggle was long and costly. Even as a war was fought to liberate people of color, women were still denied the basic rights they sought: The right to vote. The right to equal protection under the law. The right to work and receive equal pay. The right to look out at the sea of opportunity that life has to offer, and to pursue their happiness with the same options and empowerment as any of the rest of God’s children. Women’s Rights, most of us would call them, and certainly Susan B. Anthony did as well, but if that is how we define Women’s Rights, we are living in the past, for the modern feminist is not concerned with these issues at all. No, for the modern feminist, the term Women’s Rights is a simple, shameful code. One that means, and means exclusively, the right to have abortions at will, regardless of the age or health of the mother or child, with absolutely no restriction or remorse.
If this is not the case, then what answer do we give to people like Kim Gandy, the president of the National Organization for Women (NOW), one of the leading feminist voices in the nation, when she has the following to say about Gov. Palin: “Sadly, she is a woman who opposes women’s rights…”
Opposed to women’s rights? How could this possibly be true? Ms. Gandy continues: “In a gubernatorial debate, Palin stated emphatically that her opposition to abortion was so great, so total, that even if her teenage daughter was impregnated by a rapist, she would “choose life” — meaning apparently that she would not permit her daughter to have an abortion… like Sarah Palin, not every woman supports women’s rights.”
And there it is, my friends, Women’s Rights being redefined right before your eyes. Sarah Palin, a woman poised to be this country’s first female Vice-President, is opposed to the rights of women. Sarah Palin who hunts (dare I say: Like a Man?), fishes, is a pilot, who started as a concerned parent and then became mayor of her community and then governor of her state (making equal pay with her male predecessor…), and who could now become the first woman ever to occupy the office of the Vice President is AGAINST women’s rights, because women’s rights have nothing to do with any of that freedom or equality stuff. Not to modern feminism. Susan B. Anthony must be rolling over in her grave. But of course, it was Susan B. Anthony who said that, “When a woman destroys the life of her unborn child, it is a sign that, by education or circumstances, she has been greatly wronged.” Did you catch that, Kim Gandy? Susan B. Anthony was opposed to women’s rights too. So what was it exactly that she fought so hard for?
For the last forty years, the women’s movement in this country has maintained that in order for women to be truly free, they must not be required to be women at all. They must be hardened creatures, angry at and emasculating of men. They must be opportunistic and career minded, never letting pregnancy or child-rearing slow them down in their single-minded pursuits. They must dress in pant-suits, crop their hair, despise femininity, and THEY MUST HAVE ABORTIONS. Only then can they attain the promise long denied them – the chance to have the same jobs at the same pay as the man-devils they despise. By her simple existence, Sarah Palin proves all of these women wrong. A woman can, as it turns out, be a woman and still be as successful as any man. She can raise her kids and love them, even if they aren’t eugenic master-pieces; she can love her husband, a man so masculine he is called THE FIRST DUDE of Alaska, who runs a fishing boat in freezing waters and races snowmobiles on two-thousand miles treks; she can be feminine, have long-hair, wear dresses, blow kisses during her public speeches, smile and laugh with that perspective that women seem to have in spades, and that men often lack as part of the natural differences and unique gifts that distinguish the genders; and she can put career second to family, not being singularly driven, but responsive to the needs and opportunities that present themselves, hard working and optimistic, and in doing so, she can conquer the world.
Forty years of modern feminism were just revealed to be nothing but hatred and murder in disguise with no agenda what-so-ever other than the destruction of the traditional American family. No wonder they hate this woman. She is proof of what most women in this country have always known: It is okay to be a woman, and in fact, you can do just fine for yourself without having to change into what you are not: a mutated human who is neither feminine nor truly masculine, and never happy. Oh, and you don’t have to abort your children to get ahead. I don’t think the left can do anything to stop this woman, because they have no idea what she actually is. They haven’t seen a real American woman on the left since Roe V. Wade.
———————————————————————————–
Of course, today it may seem that my final thoughts on that bright fall day were wrong, that they actually did destroy Sarah Palin. If so, I hope it soothes the remnant guilt I’m sure they still carry for turning their backs on the true champion of their beliefs, Hilary Clinton, when she was so close to the prize. At least they didn’t let the anti-Hilary ascend, or even endure. Well, I say, sleep well while you can, my friends. In the end, I suspect that the Sarah they have most to fear is not Vice President Sarah or even Governor Sarah at all. It is Citizen Sarah’s first day on the clock, and her star seems as bright to me as ever it did last September.

Bailin' Palin for President 2012-2014!! LOL
Nothing brings out liberal hatred quite like Palin, (or Trig rather). They believe that they succeeded in destroying her with media bias, derogatory commentary from every angle and erroneous ethics complaints.
Imagine how shocked they will all be when she announces running in 2012… they will be flustered, enraged that they failed, and scared sh1tless of everything she stands for.
I think that in 2012 (not to mention 2010) conservatives will come out of teh woodwork in droves to vote down the libaral spending machine.

As usual CgntvDssdnt, you never cease to amaze with your childishness. How's mommy's basement these days? Your obvious small phallus issues make you so angry. Your misogyny is just embarrassing. Thanks though, for continuing to expose yourself as a left wing loon with no redeeming qualities.
Strange, all it takes to push Obama and his agenda off the front page is for something to happen around Sarah.
Liberals/Progressives/Socialist/ Communists/Fascists . . .
Health Plan = Commit Suicide and Abortion
Self Defense = Don't Do it, you may hurt someone
Military Spending = What a waste of money they may actually kill the enemy
Sarah Palin is the antidote for this evil – I suspect she is going to kick these mental midgets were it hurts.
that's not true. I think Trig is great.
your welcome?
so by conjecture, Palin's platform must be something like this then:
Health Plan = keep everyone alive as long and as expensively as possible + plenty of unwanted children to help further God's plan for social progress
Self Defense = Do it. Hurt someone while you are at it!
Military Spending = Spend! Kill the enemy! Spend! Kill the enemy!
…is that about right?

By reducing Alaska's ranking from largest corporate taxer to fifth-highest. Masterful.
I absolutely LOVE her. She makes all the liberals froth with impotent rage and debase themselves with catty little swipes. (Note the 1st comment posted to this thread!)

first of all let's remove the 'Quitter' canard…
There are a myriad of reasons why the Alpha Female Sarah Palin left her post as governor. None of them are because she doesn't see things through. She has been an overachiever her entire life. No, she left because she cannot govern effectively- frivolous lawsuits (A snowmobile suit is an ethics problem? C'mon.) The Dems in the Alaska statehouse have been ordered by Pelosi and co. not to cooperate- on anything- and the taxpayers and her are being worn out by the constant lawsuits, and finally the Alaskan constitution does not allow the governor to campaign for any other office while on the job.
Plus she can now become financially independent whlie raising cash for like-minded conservatives.
All in all, a win-win scenario. Despite what the critics say. They never have been right about her anyway.
Just 40 million people like her, that's all…
Sounds like she pushed it in the right direction. Thanks for making the point genius
Sarah Palin is to the feminist movement sort of what Obama is to groups like Rainbow Push. They are proof that those organizations are outdated, outmoded and no longer for the groups they purport to represent, but more, out for power through old bias intimidation. Palin and Obama marginalize and endanger their existence. In the case of the feminists – they attack and cannibalize their own. With Obama they slash at ghosts hoping the public wont notice.
Some feminists did stand behind her. Camille Paglia, even though she voted for Obama, said that Palin was her kind of feminist. There were also a couple of NOW leaders that supported her.
The dems/libs/progressives are in the increasingly uncomfortable position of watching BO's poll numbers and popularity in the toilet. BO's "plans" aren't working. We the people are speaking out against BO's hostile takeover of our great nation. Citizen Sarah will have no problem with gaining popularity and public support as she is the antithesis of BO. 2010 is looking better the the second.
Look at what the mention of her name is doing to the trolls today. They can hardly contain their hate (sorry to use an overused and watered down liberal buzz word).
The story of Sarah Palin is far from over. This is a perfect time to re-publish. Thanks James.
Let me help you there Shug,
Health Plan = Let the paitent Decide, not the Goverment
Self Defense = Inalienable right
Military Spending = Spend! Kill the enemy! Spend! Kill the enemy! <you got that one right
I've been fuming ever since Sarah took the stage. The so-called "feminist" left has really outed themselves as nothing more than a rabid abortionist movement and Sarah is their prime target. And the one thing the left doesn't seem to understand is that the more viciously they treat Sarah, the more people will rally behind her. She has done nothing to warrant the kind of treatment she's gotten so, from my point of view, she must really scare them. And I think that makes conservatives notice her even more.
The one big problem right now is that there are too many phony conservatives out there that continue to pander to the left by criticizing Palin. I don't know what it's going to take for the party to realize that it would be in their best interest to get behind Sarah and quit doing the left's job for them. But then, if I see a "conservative" bashing Palin, then I know they're not really acting in the best interest of the movement, but seeking personal gain. After all, you want attention? You go after Sarah.
Todd, I stand corrected, honestly I did not see anyone stand up for her…. I did see a few feminists write articles that did nothing except put her down…..
It is hatred, nothing less. It's great to see them get their panties in a bunch. And those are the guys.
"first of all let's remove the 'Quitter' canard… "
you can try, and try and try. But that won't ever go away. Lets for a moment do a thought experiment. Gore, Kerry, H. Clinton, Obama. All democrat senators but moreover, all presidential candidates. Imagine if you will if any of them had quit halfway through their terms. Maybe you can also stretch your imagination to picture a scenario where the MSM had throttled them and forced the matter.
Can't you see that your side would have run away with that "quitter" bludgeon? Its a big thing. Its going to resonate with mainstream Americans and be discussed at the ballot box (IF she even gets that far).
Republican's interested in 2012 victory- you should think really carefully about throwing your weight in here. This is a hard sell, I promise you.
I don't think NOW came out until much later– if I'm not mistaken. Paglia is the only feminist that seems to be consistent in her intellectual honesty. I like her for that– no matter who she votes for.
Um yeah that is the RIGHT WING MANTRA…… jeebus, your shallow left wing IDEAS are horrible and funny that you would speak with someone that has a NUKE pointed at your shores or extend a hand in peace while they are stabbing you in the back…… by conjecture, your a fool!!!
Isn't that the truth!
She will make a difference in the 2010 Election.
KUDOS!!!!
There were a couple of public speakings that a couple of NOW leaders (from what cities I don't know) admitted they were supporting her. It stood out because I was in disbelief.

She doesn't seem to be the lemming style like many feminists are.
Sarah Palin is now FREE to say and do anything she damn well pleases. Now get ready to see the real Palin that her opponents ran into up in Alaska. This gal is America's Joan of Arc and this time there is no weak-knee Dauphin or the Church to set her up to be made into a Saint.
We live in a constitutional Republic and this gal will galvanized the conservative base better then Reagan ever could. The media hates her guts because they are scared shitless of this little housewife that has bigger stones on her then the entire GOP, Congress and that foreigner in the White House. Wait until she goes after Obama's birth records and demands he prove he is a citizen. She will bring this leftist sick society of malcontents come crashing down. This country is a Judeo-Christian conservative country and even the lazy conservatives who never vote are going to be awaken by the voice of this young warrior. This is what American politics is all about, a rip-roaring barroom brawl where we are all kicking and fighting in the mud, the blood and the beer. She is going to revitalize this country and even the old Guard of the GOP will run for cover. She may or may not be President, but she will be the beacon to inspire a lot of very young people who are so conservatives to run for public office so we can end this 60s nightmare that began when my generation of malcontents crawled out of the mud in Woodstock in that summer of love.
I hope she drives every leftist malcontent mad, its time we conservatives have some fun. Its time to see them lose their minds so they will expose their true being for all the world to see. Then we will shun them forever. An America without leftist mad dogs and they say there is no GOD! Sarah you go girl and take no prisoners and destroy the left – forever
Palin says:
"Lower corporate taxes = more jobs."
Liberal Robot:
"That does not compute, abort, abort."
Duh!
I must admit, i did not see any of that and would have loved to watch some one stick up for her, I honestly do not think that she needs someone sticking up for her… but it is great to see!!!
The Palin story is just getting good.
Beat me to it. I was reading Paglia's commentary at the time with astonishment. She's obviously not a garden variety Kool-Aid drinker.
One of the main things that tics off most feminists about Palin is that she didn't need them, or any of their post-modern gobbledygook BS, to make it: No Ivy League leftist indoctrination, no affirmative action programs, no "womyn's" studies courses, no raging against the patriarchy, no rubbing elbows with leftard lesbians; none of it. She's a self-made woman. I can't think of anything that would strike deeper fear in a cartoon-caricature feminazi than that.
Palin's convention speech was the first time in the campaign that ANYONE pulled down Obama's pants and exposed him for being an arrogant, thoroughly inexperienced know-it-all; the emperor had no clothes. I could almost hear Hillary thinking, "why didn't I do this months ago?"
Joe, that is the truth…. he wanted to be pushed off the front page beause of negative poll numbers and the GATES incident!!!
Cognitive dissident – roughly translates as using the mental process to disagree. You use the following quote by Marty Nemko to (sort of) describe yourself: "We find comfort among those who agree with us, growth among those who don't."
That sounds good in theory, but doesn't it require that the dissedent provide sound logical reasons for a differing opinion? Maybe you do that, but I haven't seen a whole lot of it on display on this particular thread. Do you disagree?
Great to make fun of and wish abotion upon.

fool
I will take one Sarah Palin against all of the liberal morons that permeate the left. Collectively they can only follow the liberal leaders like a dog on a leash. We need leaders like Sarah Palin who believe in this country and the greatness it can achieve. Go SARAH.
Without the McCain Gag on her she is gonna make liberal heads explode
LOL
Where does the tax burden get shifted to, retard?
I appreciate it too. There was a group of Hillary Democrats that jumped behind Sarah because they felt she represented the issues– across the board– better and was a good example of a successful woman. The libs don't like to admit it, heck, I think they'd deny it if asked, but there is a segment of women who traditionally vote Democrat who are drawn to Sarah.
Here's what truly strikes fear in the hearts of all liberals: presidential candidate PALIN 2012.
Honestly, I think she'll mob the floor with Obama.
Obama DID quit on his state when he decided to run
Witness her speech yesterday. In a 19-minute speech, without teleprompters, she looked down at her notes only a few times. Looked right into the camera during the most critical parts of her speech (and into the heart of her audience) and told it like only she can tell it.
It won't even be fair when she takes down Mitt Romney AND Obama during the 2012 debates, despite the fact that the moderators will undoubtably be stacked against her.
believe it or not we agree…
Sarah will not seek the nomination in 2012. She is no doubt aware of the downside to leaving the post; even if it is not reported correctly. No matter what her reasons her foes will hang that around her neck and enough Republicans buy into it that it will, as you say, never go away. But what she will become isa major movement conservative and it will be hard to imagine any republican getting the nomination without her support. So, she will not go quietly into that good night…
Here is a thought. Could it be the reason Obama was so hot to trot to get Healthcare in place by the end of July is because Sarah is now free to talk about it? I'm just sayin…….
on this particular thread I'm keeping it simple ("Palin is a quiter"). Who knows. maybe on this subject I may never be inspired to get any more sophsticated than that. It might be a good "mantra" to really hammer on. Sometimes speaking plainly (like Bush!) is perhaps more effective.
As to my name, you more or less have it. Its like this: I see all kinds of people choosing to believe what they want, regardless of fact (truthers, for example). The internet, with discussion boards like this, can serve as a big old pot of soup to cook up such "world views". But oh no! Waiter, there's a fly in my soup!
That makes it even better IMHO, the reason why it has to get under the skin of BOMB THROWERS like Maureen Dowd, which I cannot stomach…
Todd, your last sentence BROUGHT A HUGE smile to my face…. damn, that is tooo funny and SO TRUE!!!!! a good modern women!
Palin 2012
Jack, very well written and well said……and yeah the LIBERALS head will assplode when she makes the charge against the MESSIAH, that is CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE!!!!
Interesting, Susan B Anthony's greatest motivator in advocating a woman's right to vote was so that women would not be forced to abort their children; in championing our right to vote we then could change the laws which prevented females from acquiring personal wealth, prosperity and the means to able keep our children.
Today's Feminists, on the other hand, advocate the opposite of women's rights, that being, advocate abortion upon the female to insure she acquires wealth and prosperity; their belief stems from the idea that children make women poor so it is better to kill their children than to be poor.
This is one major difference between advocating Women's Rights vs advocating Feminism; one acknowledges the womb while the other butchers the womb.
James, this re-publication has many strengths, including a demonstration of your clear thinking. It will be interesting to see what these thoughts look like a year from now. Indeed, they may hold up over many years. THAT would place you among a very small group of good journalists.
She did really well against that oaf Biden, just imagine what she'll do after a year or two of preparation.
You could hardly ask for better evidence that Palin plans to build her movement on resentment and victim status.
So, Sarah resigned yesterday…..
And the MSN covered the event live. Except for MSNBC, which was covering Michael Jackson. You know the network which has the slogan “The place for news”.
The main theme that the liberal media was talking about this week was how Sarah Plain’s numbers have dropped since the 2008 presidential elections. CNN, MSNBC, The Washington Post, and the liberal blogs like The Huffington Post have been trashing her.
But what weren’t they talking about….
Obama’s poll numbers are crashing, and after the “stupidly” comment they will be dropping more. I wonder why that‘s not a bigger story! Left wing media in the tank!
But it’s not going to work!
The lefties are in for a world of hurt!
As for Sarah Palin… Perfect time, Perfect Place……
Nah, the tactic of flooding congress with information and not enough time to properly debate the issue is purely a Saul Alinsky M.O. Shoving legislation like this down people's throats without letting them say no is going to get old real fast.
Sarah Palin smashing what's left of Obamacare is just icing on the cake brother….
I posted this on the OPEN Thread. It is from Breitbart.tv.
I think it bears repeating.
http://www.breitbart.tv/ethicsgate-see-the-video-...
It shows that the group that has been harassing Palin in Alaska is very small and connected to Obama.
Like I have said before, don't underestimate Sarah Palin. She is a true Conservative and has only begun to fight for Truth, Liberty and Justice.

I have to ask is that meant in a good way or bad way?
Agreed, this article is just as relevant today as it was when originally written.
I find it ridiculous that the MSM is more worried about Sarah Palin's wardrobe than if the person sitting in the White House is actually an American citizen…..
to the children! Just like the debt of Obama's stimulus.
I know. I swear its so debasing. Accusing a non-quiter like Palin of being a quiter. I'm such a liar, aren't I?
So let me get this straight…Palin gives notice and gracefully exits from her governorship, and she’s “Bailin’ Palin.”
Obama spends his entire time as a State Senator trying to become Senator, and his entire time as Senator trying to become President, and is now spending his entire time as President to become God.
So, hey, if you just “talk the talk” like Obama in his jobs, you’re fine. Dare to “walk the walk” like Palin, and…
and which enemy might that be? And what do you want to spend on to kill said enemy? Does Sarah even know? And will she dare to share it with us?
who is more fool? The fool or the fool that follows the fool?
(In this case, that would be all you fools following Palin. )
I think you will find that "fly in the soup" is Palin in the Dems, soup.
uh, no. I've never said anything negative about Trig and I never will. Further, anyone on the left or right behaving as you suggest will get an earful from me for two reasons.
1) because its wrong.
2) it's doesn't help.
no doubt. this is probably the biggest benefit she will bring.
honestly, I don't dislike Palin any more than I dislike guys like Bush, Cheney, Tom Delay, Newt, Rush, etc. Why do you think I dislike her more than that?
Let us not forget the several women that Clinton abused before and during his presidency that the National Organization of Women never championed, simply because the NOW loved Clinton more than their own integrity. NOW has been irrelevant ever since.
That they should jump Palin's case shows not only their continuing hypocricy, but their clear dishonesty and increasing irrelevance as well.
NOW allows themselves be pimped on a regular basis by the democrat party and the national news media. And all are so intertwined that it nearly impossible to tell the 'pimper' from the 'pimpee'.
Perhaps the name "National Organization of Bimbo Women" more clearly defines them.
Destruction of the American family — that had to be the goal. What else has the movement really accomplished?
Good column.
If anything, I am of two minds about the Governor Palin.
One part of me says that it's a good thing she resigned, she's been turned into a caricature of a caricature, to the point where even reasonably well-informed friends of mine think she's a idiot redneck hick, which is patently untrue. I will grant she doesn't know everything about everything, but who does? She is remarkably knowledgeable about the subjects she needs to be. She's a wife and a mother, whose children have been put through the wringer by a bunch of classless fiends. Her eldest son is in Iraq, her eldest daughter had the father of her child leave her, and her youngest son has Down's. That's enough of a challenge for a stay-at-home mom with a supportive father. But to do all that while governor of the largest state in America, while running of national office? The list of people who could do all of that effectively is pretty small I imagine. This part of me says that for the good of her family, who thanks to frivolous ethics complaints and lawsuits is now over half a million dollars in debt, she should just disappear from the national stage, and live her life again. She's done enough, and suffered enough for multiple lifetimes politically. Can't we find someone else who has less to lose to serve as a charismatic conservative spokesman?
The other part of me says though that this is surrender to ruthless, classless, shameless fools and fiends who destroyed a mother, a wife and a governor all for perceived political gain. It was an inhuman thing to do to a person who by all accounts is one of the most decent and caring politicians in America, who has done more for her state than anyone currently in state government across the nation. To give in to these pigs would be unworthy of her, and of the movement she has come to represent. If anything, those of us who count ourselves as decent human beings, regardless of political affiliation need to stand up and defend her reputation against baseless and coarse attacks on her character and those of her children. We ought not enforce a political career on her she does not want, but we should defend her, work for her, honor her example and if she does run for future office, vote for her.
Well-written reply, Frank Sparzo.
You know, no matter how many intellectual arguments I can come up with against Maureen Dowd, I still can't help but see her as a frothing nutcase. How does someone like that get the platform she's been given?
Small mean-spirited groups with big megaphones — save us from them!
Actually, leaving elective office to campaign would be a breath of fresh air for a lot of potential candidates. How many candidates have not done so just to keep a fallback job in case they lose; thereby collecting a paycheck for a job they are not doing. I for one would like Governor Palin (I think we get to call her that as a sign of respect) spend some time brushing up to become expert on a variety of major issues. There is no question she has a high Q rating and is a good campaigner.
Of course Obama proves you don't need a lot of elective office experience to gain the presidency, just a good line of rhetoric about hope and change. We are just now seeing that the emporor indeed has no clothes.
Hypocrisy all over the place.
I have thought that for a while. She won't get picked for VP again. So that leaves either winning the nomination or not. If there is any doubt she can win it (and obviously there is some) I think she out to stay out.
Se can be a go to fundraiser, a policy advisor, etc and still have as much flexibility as she wants.
A win win for her.
But If I were a democrat, I'd want the repubs to have her run. Since they think she is an airhead they ought to snicker quietly and let the dummy righties put her up and then decimate her. Why they rip on her now is beyond me. Why would they want to deminish her electability prematurely?

You may be right, but I still feel the Obama administration fears her and her following.
The only name in the media today, for better or for worse, is Sarah Palin. For better because she has single-handedly solved John McCain’s two biggest problems, his base, and his base.
She also created one of his biggest problems, proving that John McCain could not be trusted to judge competence.
Here's to the continuing public presence of Sarah Palin.
She is a much better example of Conservatism. And she is the best example we have for pro-life. She doesn't just say it, she lives it.
I agree with ya on this one Cog, I do not think she will make it to the top of the ticket in 2012. Sometime in the future? Maybe.
They SHOULD fear her.
The conventional polit-bureau media – the overwhelming source of info and commentary for most people – has done an outstanding job to malign Sarah Palin. Had they done such a biased job against BHO during the campaign, he would've never been elected, even with the nationwide election fraud with the help of ACORN and other Leftwing organizations. As for 'feminists' – they only allow one ideology, and has nothing to do with gender.
The comments on this blog show that truth and patriotism still exist, but the message must be translated into grass-root education.
For people – particularly those on the right – who knock Palin, lets take a second to ask, if Palin were President today instead of Obama would we be trillions of dollars in debt due to Tarp? Would Cap and Trade have passed, threatening our energy production, and adding hundreds of billions to our taxes? Would we still be resisting domestic oil, coal and nuclear production? Would we be apologizing for our history all over the world? Would we be nationalizing our healthcare with a bill no one has read? Would we be the owners of GM, and untold numbers of banks? And would we be buddying up to every dictator in the world while ignoring the cause of fledgling democracies. Would she make snap judgements about a Cambridge arrest, and insult the police officers involved without all the facts?
Knock her for her lack of an ivy league class ring all you want, and for her sometimes awkward speaking style, but I submit that our country would be in better shape right now if Palin were President today instead of the Chicago egomaniac who feels compelled to apologize for our country wherever he goes..
