Pentagon, CIA Sued Over Alleged Meetings With Bin Laden Filmmaker Kathryn Bigelow
by HollywoodlandA government watchdog group is suing the Department of Defense and the Central Intelligence Agency, claiming the agencies are refusing to release details of their alleged meetings and communications with director Kathryn Bigelow and writer Mark Boal.
It has been alleged that Bigelow and Boal — in preparation for the script to their Annapurna Pictures movie about the killing of Osama Bin Laden — received classified information regarding his death.
Judicial Watch filed a Freedom of Information Act complaint — which was obtained by TheWrap — in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., on Thursday. The group says the DoD and CIA have not complied with its FOIA requests within the legally required 20 working days.
Judicial Watch sent FOIA requests to the DoD and the CIA on August 9, seeking records of alleged meetings and communications between government officials, the makers of the Bin Laden movie and employees of Annapurna Pictures, according to the group’s complaint.
The DoD and CIA acknowledged they received the requests but said they couldn’t release the alleged information, according to Judicial Watch. The DoD cited “unusual circumstances which impact our ability to quickly process your request,” the suit says. The CIA said the agency was inundated with FOIA requests and couldn’t respond within the legally required 20 working days, Judicial Watch claims.
As of January 12, the DoD and the CIA “have failed to produce any records responsive to plaintiff’s requests or demonstrate that responsive records are exempt from production,” the suit says. “Nor have they indicated whether or when they will produce any responsive records.”

Let me get this straight. You (DoD) cannot tell me what you told the filmmaker making a pro-obama movie for preelection release because it would take too long now? So, if I just wait a few months I will be able to just watch the movie and get the info along with this countries enemies. Huh? I still don't get it.
yup, something smells fishey….
Funny how those who used to vocally and loudly protest every tiny exhibition of executive power by Bush are so darned quiet over the past 3 years. I guess the truth is they aren't against abuse of power or a "monarchist" administration. They are only opposed when they feel the power grab isn't from someone they favor. It's just a matter of WHO not WHAT in reality. So, for the WH to allow information out to "favorable" parties is just fine as long as the prez and the filmmakers are OUR guys……
Let me see . . . Bigelow and Boal have many timely meetings and communications with Defense staffers about the Bin Laden shooting, and it takes months to get copies of the meetings. Huh? I don't get it either.
is the 'classified information' correct, or is it in conflcit with SEAL team 6?
Remember, Obama's spinmeisters kept 're-remembering' the story for days after the incident. They wanted a heroic tale, suitably PC, that showed Obama the star and everyone else support. And the story kept changing until they had suitably focus grouped it, staged the now famous phony shot of them all sternly watching events unfold,
and then pissed of Team 6 with an account with a different timeline than their official report.
So, what's at stake here? Actual classified info or a stage managed pro Obama whitewash?
We'll find out soon enough…
One can only dream of an Obstruction of Justice charge for someone in the Administration when all this dirty laundry is finally aired out.
I'd say, a little of both….
It may reveal sources and methods, and perpetuate the myth regarding Obama….
methinks me sees a pattern…Fast and Furious, Bin Laden movie, Friday before MLK weekend document dump…funny, I wonder what the Dems would have said if something like this happened under a McCain presidency…oh wait, it wouldn't have
agreed.
But the myth will be debunked both before, and after this film is released; too many people are aware of this attempted propaganda coup by someone so undeserving. Certainly the SEAL's themselves will call BS on this historical re-write.
As far as sources and methods, well, we're not too sure what they HAVEN'T revealed already…
These people wouldn't think twice about compromising intelligence assets to make this petulant child look good….
plus they can reveal key secrets in the name of 'redistribution'.
Fancy that…
Well, that's what Madeleine Albright always wanted….
and that thinking still exists in the State Department….
Go away…
it always did.
But the previous administrations had a few adults sprinkled about,,,
not enough to matter….
BTW, do you get the feeling that we're being followed?
Maybe someone should let them borrow a copy machine and fax….. or just explain to them how to use the snapshot feature on a smartphone or digital camera!
No mistaken….. they are covering their collective communistic…. colluding butts….in mass!
Shouldn't ALL ….of the whole account relating to the assassination of Osama Bin Laden be on the: Incredibly awesome… more transparent than any other White House administration in history EVER….already have this all posted at "White House dot Gov" site?
This should all be running real time in this age of electronics and internet…..
UNLESS classified information was revealed to Bigelow, it should take both DoD and the CIA all of five minutes to get back to Judicial Watch. And if they aren't sure and need to check, than they didn't do their jobs in the first place. No one "sanitized" the information before it was given out?
anyone who makes the same three turns we make gets shaken, always has.
THAT feeling never goes away, Deus…
I never thought I'd be looking over my shoulder in CONUS….
or always sitting, facing the door….
Something distressing to consider. About two weeks after the raid, a group of SEALs were sent on a mission to chase down some AQ or Taliban. Their helicopter was shot down and most, if not all, of the team were killed. Rumor Control had it that the same team that took down obama bin laden is the same group killed in the ambush.
au contraire; we have never felt comfortable here.
Gotta go to Costa Rica or somewhere else to relax. Maybe it's just habit.
Agree it's worse, now…
I thought, at first, it was just habit….
Now, I know better. Some day, I'll double back and surprise anyone foolish enough to sniff my six….
It was a different group completely, and it was 25 seals and several other people – all killed.
it's a residual from our days in South Florida.
Nasty bit of business, that. To this day any car that makes more than three of the same turns is bothersome; it can be a houswife/SUV/full of kids.
No matter. Old habits, you know…
Yeah, I'm always watching the rearview….
Several times, in Germany, I had a black Mercedes in tow….
We might WIN some of these wars, if our over population of "lawyahs" were unleashed on the terrorists.
You've got the picture, I don't get it either…
