Which begs the question: if they’re telecommuting anyway, how long until U.S. soldiers get outsourced to save more money?

when i first saw this, i was not laughing, since this might actually happen. i wouldn't put anything past teh won.
The work of the armed forces has already been "outsourced". It's called selling $60 billion worth of stealth fighters (f-15 sa) to the Saudis.
The F-15 Eagle is NOT a stealth fighter by any stretch of the imagination.
This mockery of a President deserves to be mocked, along with every duped fool that voted for "change."
They will be outsourced, "Fred" in India will be making the calls.
I'm personally not amused by any of the late-night "comics" but is this a turning point? Will the late night liberals actually ATTACK Obama? Point out his myriad failures? His criminal connections? His contempt for the Constitution?
Naw, I don't think so either.
Obama is going to lay-off 14% of our military.
Add them to the unemployed.

i'm 36 and fat a bald. no wait I'm 22 and super hot and I have rock hard abs. I telecommute. I have time in the evenings free, can I get one of those work from home Army jobs to suppliment my income?
Oh hey I just did like 100 push-ups, while running 2 miles. My wife and kids will vouch for me.
"thank you for that information. Would you like to hear about our multitarget special today?"
Haven't we been down this road before?
What happened after the 1920's-30's when we hollowed out the military?
How about the "peace dividend" of the 1990's….how'd that work out?
It seems every administration likes to fool themselves into thinking they can end war or usher in an era of peace by dismantling or fundamentally changing the military.
Eisenhower thought air power could replace the Army.
Kennedy thought "Special Forces" could replace the need for ground troops.
Carter, ironically, thought that neglecting the military would make the Soviet Union play nice.
Clinton "loathed" the military and tried to turn them into "Meals on Wheels".
They were all wrong and Pres. Obama is wrong also.
Yes, it's easy to criticize by looking back….but at least someone is looking back and trying to learn the lessons of history.
The whole thing was a plug for Obama cutting a trillion dollars from the defense budget. The skit was chaff to cover the plug and it allowed Conan to make fun of the military at the same time. Look at that guy in the skit, the men and women doing the job Conan's skit is making fun of do not in my expierience look like that at all, but rather the opposite, and my bet is that even if they were telewarring they would still be the lean, mean, regime changing machines that we have all become accustomed to seeing. Shame on Conan, those cuts are going to put a lot of people out of work, and he is cracking jokes about it. Thats what I took from the clip.
Conan has made fun of Obama before. Many times.
Has Conan addressed any of the issues I raised above? Rezko? Solyndra? Criminal contempt for the Constitution? Hmmm? How about Obama being a prep school pus sy? Hmmm? Well?
Or "Peggy" in Russia…
i get your repulsion, but if we are reduced to the type of military as depicted by the skit and as caused by these cuts, the military could end up looking like me (fat and lazy) and we can't have that.
All you need to know about this:
Green jobs, education (teacher's union), Government motors (AFL CIO), welfare and government make work projects = subsidizing the Democratic party constituency.
Defense and military = cutting funds to a Republican constituency.
The MSM starting to turn on him? What took so long?
It's pretty stealthy compared to an F4 Phantom, but just about anything is. As the RF-4B pilot told me back in my Marine Corps days, "The Phantom, proof that if you strap a big enough engine on it, even a brick will fly."
No, they still love him.
I'm with you. This was no slap at Obama or his new policy to underfund the military. It was a slap at the military and the idiots in the audience who clapped when Conan mentioned Obama's new policy tells you all you need to know about few Hollywood types will ever outwardly question Obama. It's sad but to be expected I guess.
"It seems every administration likes to fool themselves into thinking they can end war or usher in an era of peace by dismantling or fundamentally changing the military."
Reminds me of that old sci fi story about how mankind finally gives up all weapons of any kind up to and including WMD and then the aliens come down and subjugate us and suddenly we're building rudimentary weapons again to chase the aliens off.
I think he meant the F-15SE (F-15 Silent Eagle), a newly developed variant of the Eagle that incorporates some stealth features, developed for the export market. Similar to the difference between a B-1A and a B-1B, and I would expect a similar reduction in RCS to about one tenth what a normal F-15 is.
The f-15 sa is the Saudi version of the f-15 silent eagle, which incorporates the stealth technology Boeing developed for the f-22. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_F-15SE_Silent...
"Which begs the question…"
No, no it doesn't. It raises the question. </pedant>
Of course it happens occasionally but at nowhere NEAR the rate they ripped into Bush (I'm guessing the Bush to Obama, late-night joke-ratio is something like 4 to 1) And the level of vitriol is lower, too.
Who's Conan?
Our borders are being stripped of protection, our military gutted, but the number of employees at DHS are growing. For the first time in my adult life I am worried about the future of my country.
Okay to the young hipster basement dwelling types in the audience that cheered steep defense cuts.
I have a simple way of saving a TON of money! (full disclosure I am retired Army)
Massively cut pay and benefits to the troops that will save a ton of money. Cut health benefits, pay, the whole she-bang. Of course you will have to scrap the all volunteer force to do it, but just re-institute the draft, that fixes that.
Fall behind in a student loan payment? You go in the military.
Who's chearing now?
