From the Daily Caller:
Clint Howard told TheDC that he got involved with the project when an acquaintance of his, Eric Peterkofsky, approached him with the idea. “This is something that is right in my wheelhouse, both as an actor and as a conservative minded citizen,” Howard said. “I’d been looking for opportunities to do something like this and when it come up it seemed like a no brainer.”
Howard has no illusions of grandeur. According to him, celebrities who get too heavily involved in political activism can become tiresome. He hopes to avoid this pitfall and act soley as a concerned American.
“I understand that show business people can wear the public a bit thin when it comes to politics. I know they wear me thin,” Howard said. “I’m not a policy wonk and I don’t dream of being a political operative. My goal as a citizen is to do what I can to help the causes that I personally believe in. To me, it is the same as walking the precinct.”

NBC's Friday night series “Grimm” is a fantasy show, but for reasons I cannot fathom the program's writers chose to mine that most heinous relic of Mittel-Europa: the story of the seemingly good and kind Jew who is really a demonic creature underneath for last week's...

Holy frell!
Opie's younger brother is a conservative?
DANG!
No wonder I've liked him since "Star Trek"!
Will Ron respect his brothers different point of view, or will we be seeing less of Clint Howard in future films?
If the less talented of the Baldwins being sneaked into The Cat in the Hat serves as any indication, I think I know which one I'd put my money on.
Clint is too honest to be a liberal. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfDXAA2MCD8
When all the excuses to avoid town hall meetings fail just demonize your opponents.
Wow, I love discovering stuff like this! Go CLINT!
Speaking up takes guts! You're the man, Clint! Our Founders would be proud!
WOW! Looks like Clint escaped the Hollywood asylum.
In the Hollywood asylum they only associate with other self-important, Hollywood snobs. They spew their anti-American venom to the unwashed while they flaunt their moral depravity and mental illnesses in front of the World. They preach "tolerance" but they are not satisfied with tolerance, They want full acceptance of their sick lifestyles. In reality, they act the part of heroes while they surrounding themselves with adoring, weak minded worshipers who will never tell them the truth.
FIND ANY ANTI-AMERICAN, ANTI-FAMILY, ANTI-CHRISTIAN, OBSCENE, DEPRAVED CAUSE, AND HOLLYWOOD WILL SUPPLY SCORES OF THESE MOST VACUOUS, VULGAR, PREENING EGOTISTS ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH SUPPORTING IT.

Clint. You are my favorite Howard.
It's nice to know one Howard has integrity and brains. Hey Clint, do me a favor. Next time you see Opie – kick him square in the ass for me. Thanks.
Well…GOOD on Clint Howard! He's risen several notches in my estimation.
Continued success to you, Clint!
Brother Ron has become one of those tiresome 'cause' advocates that Clint mentions.
Now this is a shock. Kind of like discovering that Chris Hitchens brother was a religious conservative.
have some tranya, I hope you relish it as much as I do.
It's a shame Clint Howard have never gotten out of the "That Guy" level of acting; he gets regular work and people knows his face, but he's not famous ("You know, that guy in that movie."). When Hollywood sees this video he'll go from "that guy" to "what guy?"
Well Clint always had to work harder than his brother for his money, my guess like the rest of us he likes to keep more of it. Good going Clint.
The video says it all………..Great. Clint, keep up the great work.
He's on Hugh Hewitt's radio program quite a lot. Total rightie and seems a bright, informed, down to earth guy, as well.
No wonder why Hollywood LIMITED his career.
Yes, something like 'I would do a Townhall meeting but I don't want o see all those racist homophobes'.
Just say "I refuse to be in a room full of racist homophobes" and have your SEIU assistants menacingly waving billy clubs.
Love that movie and love that scene (I didn't even realise who he was) and I love his 'move'.
Clint Walker, Clint Howard, Clint Eastwood.
All Clints in good conservative company.
He's honest, courageous and conservative. This guy's career is toast.
LOL! This is GOLD!
either side would be fine with me, just don't miss. nice to see there is one smart member of the howard family!
He's my second favorite, behind Moe.
Right on Clint Howard!
Who'd of thunk
"Howard has no illusions of grandeur. According to him, celebrities who get too heavily involved in political activism can become tiresome. He hopes to avoid this pitfall and act soley as a concerned American."
How many liberals feel the need tp make this qualification before speaking out.
Clint, you are now my favorite Howard.
Well, I guess my favorite after Curly. Then Moe. Of course then there's Shemp.
OK, Clint, your are my fourth favorite Howard. Way ahead of that Ron guy.
Ron Howard's brother, Clint Howard, is an outspoken Conservative advocate?
Well, dad-gum! Thanks, Big Hollywood and John Nolte, for letting us in on this fact. I sure didn't know that, and I will put it to good use. Tom Hanks and Clint's brother, Ron, sure haven't been getting much money from the TRs the past couple of years!
Clint Howard, you just gained a whole "'nother" audience!
Not being the Golden Child of the Howard family — and actually having to live job-to-job in the real world, as opposed to older brother, who'se only real lull as part of the privileged class was between 1968 and 1974, probably goes a long way towards explaining why Clint is a conservative while Ron is a liberal (though at least he didn't join his TV daddy in a follow-up to their Obama election ad in 2008 and try to push the idea last month that ObamaCare is the greatest thing since sliced bread).
We will take all the Hollywood help we can get………welcome aboard Clint, you are appreciated.
It's good to see a man not afraid to speak his mind. It's sad he works in an environment that doesn't respect one of their owns right to their political beliefs. When will the hollywood types realize they have recreated the McCarthy era in reverse. They invoke McCarthy's name anytime a conservative opens his mouth in public; but some how they don't see they're doing the same thing.
does james cameron have a brother?
Yes, his brother's name is Mike.
Now I can watch Apollo 13 again without as much guilt. Tom Hanks, Ron Howard and Ed Harris were out weighing Gary Sinise.
YOU STOLE MY POST!
lol.
I wonder if his little lefty brother Ronny w/ continue to cast him in his films after this?
Love it!
I believe his token roles in his brother's films are more an exercise of family rather than employment. Besides, he's had plenty of work outside of Ron's films- such as 'The Wraith' the Austin Powers series and of course- the original Star Trek!
Oh BTW He needs a part in the Expendables sequel. He's already done the insane inmate thing with Stallone in Tango & Cash.
we desperately need more conservatives in Hollywood to speak out often and loudly
I thought he looked familiar.
Bravo, Clint!
Funny.
Who knew that of the two brothers Clint was actually the more intelligent of the two! Great news.
I can't imagine that such a stand will make Clint too popular at Howard family gatherings, so you know there must be a great deal of conviction here.
God bless you for your courage, Clint; you can be *my* kid brother any day.
Boy, looking at this guy now it's hard to believe he was the little boy on Gentle Ben with Dennis Weaver. I guess we're telling our age now !! LOL
Thank you, Clint!
Let's raise a cup of tranya to Commander Baalok!
I'd like to add "ANTI-JEW" to your list of depraved causes.
Hard to believe that he and Opie are even related
The more talented Howard speaks. All bow before the satanic powers of Stanley Coopermsith.
EVILSPEAK = Total b-movie badassery
Democrats are at thepoint of not using the title of (D) while they are doing the meeting until November. Also they really want Obama to keep his distance during the election.
I don't know, despite his politics Ron always seems like a nice enough guy (as far as you can tell with celebrities anyway) to me. Appearances can be deceiving but I bet he wouldn't mind associating with a few conservatives, especially if they are related.
Although I might have missed some of his recent political stupidity. All I know is that he made a commercial with matlock (names are escaping me) supporting Obama. Has he said other really stupid things I should know about (at least recently)?
Clint as some "Guy" in one of the very last SEINFELD episodes as a criminal in the back of a police car as George and Jerry get a ride to the stationhouse:
George: What do you tip a chamber maid?
Guy: I don't know, five bucks a night.
Jerry: No, a dollar, two tops.
Guy: A dollar a night?
Jerry: Yeah, that's a good tip!
Guy: That stinks!
Jerry: I read it in Ann Landers.
Guy: Oh, Ann Landers sucks!
The men in the Howard family could split hairs over politics except that all the men seem to go bald very early.
John:
It seems many people on this discussion have a very low opinion of Ron Howard. I know he leans liberal, but I do not know of any statements or actions on his part that would suggest he is corrupt, intellectually dishonest or a communist or even an over-the-top blatherer (a la Matt Damon, Alec Baldwin, etc.)
Just wondering if there is something I am missing.
Agree, especially with the "courageous" part. To my shame, I don't think I could have done it under similar circumstances.
If blood is thicker than water, he at least should have some roles in future Ron Howard films.
I wonder if he has an idea how much affirmation and adulation he can receive from, oh, 70% of the US population if he plays his cards right.
Not by much.
They say Zeppo was the funniest Marx brother, too. There's a lot we don't know out here in Audience-land.
I hope you relish it as much as I.
Didn't Ron direct or appear in a pro-Obama commercial during the presidential elections? I know he did something like that, maybe appearing with Andy Griffith recreating the Mayberry show intro.
you represent Earth's best! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVSMWjpuh1I&fe...
To answer your question, check out this link w/ Howard on Maher's show: http://videosift.com/video/Ron-Howard-Bill-Maher-.... And that's just the tip of the ice-berg. He's a HUGE Obama and "Obama-care" supporter. Opie doesn't just lean liberal he's a certified lefty! I don't think he's intellectually dishonest, or a communist either. But I do think it's a big disappointment to find out that he, along w/ fellow lefty Andy Griffith, have such extreme left-wing political views that stray so far away from the core values which were such an integral part of The "Andy Griffith" show. One of the pre-eminent Americana shows of all time!
It really seems like the Big Hollywood website is doing just that.
It's the curse of the Character actor… but the blessing is that there's always work for them.
Just curious here, but what was the greatest thing BEFORE sliced bread?
Indoor plumbing, I believe.
Oh, heck yes – The Three Stooges rock even now.
"I'm the boss and I want ya to stop fallin' off this scaffold!"
"Can I help it if I was born dizzy?"
"I'll dizzy you!" *SMACK!*
"Ooh! Mmph – I didn't do nuthin'!"
"That's why I slugged ya – do somethin'!"
Clint Howard is the man! He has played small but always remember-able parts in every kind of movie from low budget B-movies to big budget blockbusters. He may have not gotten the looks, but he has the brains- and common sense!
Very good call… though personally I would take indoor plumbing over sliced bread any day.
Amen! Indoor plumbing wins over sliced bread any day of the week and twice on Sunday!
Agreed! In SPADES! Nothing like indoor plumbing!
Too hard on the heart finding a rattlesnake coiled up in the outhouse in the middle of the night.
I hate when that happens!
Indeed! especially on chili night.
I guess Clint is off his brother's Christmas card list.
