American Jewish Committee: ‘Oliver Stone Has Outed Himself as an Anti-Semite’

This is the most absurd kind of analysis and shows the extent to which Oliver Stone is willing to propound his anti-Semitic and conspiratorial views.
The American Jewish Committee just released this statement:
NEW YORK, July 26 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The American Jewish Committee condemned the film director Oliver Stone for an interview with London’s Sunday Times in which he railed against “Jewish domination of the media.”
“By invoking this grotesque, toxic stereotype, Oliver Stone has outed himself as an anti-Semite,” said AJC Executive Director David Harris. “For all of Stone’s progressive pretensions, his remark is no different from one of the drunken, Jew-hating rants of his fellow Hollywood celebrity, Mel Gibson.”

At least Mel Gibson was four-sheets-to-the-wind drunk when he unleashed his inner ant-Semite. Although he has been a top-flight substance abuser, Mr. Stone was clear-eyed when he uttered his rants, and that is the more stunning for it.

So are they saying that even though Stone is a fellow Progressive, he's no better than a right wing anti-Semite, meaning that all anti-Semites are really on the right? And somehow Progressives do not have a serious history of anti-Semitism.

Here's a way to put Hitler in context- Stalin was just as anti-Semitic. He persecuted Jews as Western agents, blamed Jewish doctors for deaths of several famous Russians, and eventually issued a number of edicts denying Jews employment in professional positions. Untold thousands of Jews ended up in the Gulag or summarily executed. The lucky ones lost their jobs and had to survive in poverty. Maybe Oliver Stone will make a movie about that? Start holding your breath…now.

I disagree with this assessment. Stone is worse. Mel Gibson was Drunk when he said what he said. It was a period six to twelve months after the PAssion of the Christ came out and some of the most vehement personal attacks against him were made in the op ed letters to the press defaming him, his religion, his movie and his motives. He said what he said because he is one of those people that at times have litle control over their emotions. Afterwords Gibson apologized. He also did not say anything about the Holocaust or any thing like that just that those "jews" were out to get him. This is certainly a sin but I don't think it premeditated and I don't think he really meant it about all jews.
I do believe that Oliver Stone really believes what he is saying and worse he is using platforms that Chavez and Tehran are giving them to justify the actions of these dictatorial monsters. Gibson is a man doing bad because he has no control. Stone is plotting to do bad. That is worse.

Oliver Stone *did* have an Anti-Semitic character in the Mini-Series he has a producer credit in: Wild Palms (1993) Senator Anton Kreutzer (played by Robert Loggia). Kreutzer, a son of a Jewish Tailor, heads up an EVIL Right-Wing group called "The Fathers". Anyway, in the backstory of the series, These "Fathers" kidnap the children of their rivals(called "The Friends") and indoctrinate the children to be evil, right-wing, ect. This part of the plot is too reminiscent of old Anti-Semitic Blood-Libel stories to be a complete coincidence.

It's certainly true that plenty of other groups suffered at Nazi hands, but about 80% of Jews were killed in the Holocaust. Is Stone aware that there were far fewer Jews to start with than there were Russians? The percentage distinguished if horrifying to anyone with any moral sensibility. Attempting to minimize that is pretty shocking, even for a deranged thug like Stone.
Alright. Right now it is time for uber-liberal Steven Speilberg to stand up and denounce this villainous toad. Wasn't it SS who spent practically a decade and millions of his own dollars documenting the horrors of the concentration camps from the mouths of the victims? If he, and others of the Hollywood community, Jewish and otherwise, do not stand up and face this idiocy with the strongest possible language and actions, then he and they will never regain an ounce of respect.

Stone is a left-winger, and a large segment of that philosphy embraces this hatred. Now, Mr. Stone, if the Jews so dominate the media, why exactly won't we see your evil exposed 24/7? Will it be because the Left dominates the old media outlets, not an ethnic group? My, that seems about right.
Looking beyond the patently anti-semetic overtones of Mr. Stone's statement, it will be fascinating to see just what "context" he intends to build around a couple of the most horrific mass-murderers in history. As anyone who has read Goldberg's "Liberal Fascism" will understand, there was a great deal of world-wide support for these guys, something our parents preferred to forget. When I was in college, the Soviet foreign minister was visiting our campus, and I was invited to participate in a rally protesting Soviet treatment of Jews. When they told me the theme of the rally was based on the holocaust, I pointed out to them the scale of Russian deaths in the early 20th century dwarfed the holocaust. (WW1 – 3 million, Revolution/Lenin – 10 to 20 million, Stalin – 20-60 million, WW2 – 20 million) Many of these casualties were caused by the Soviet government itself, so I was dubious as to how much sympathy their theme would meet with.

Where are the "investors" and other financial wizards who will deny him backing? In my opinion, Obama is too much of a closed book to get a good read on the guy. Some things are obvious, his loathing for American exceptionalism, his distaste for American ideals, his insistence that America is the root of all evil, etc.

One of my favorite pastimes when reading a story like this is to immediatly go to the website, democratic underground to see what they are saying about. As expected, doing a search I found many threads that were for the most part defending him, and none on the American Jewish Committee statement. They avoid anything that might make them uncomfortable.
