Not only the actions of your son but the reaction of his 4 year old did bring a tear to my eye. Too many lost to protect those who do not deserve thier sacrifice.

Luckily some in hollywood are coming to the forefront.

Mrs. Argel-Bastian, may God bless and comfort you and your family. Your son is a true hero in every sense of the word. He paid the ultimate price so we here in the U.S. can remain free. I am convinced that our best and brightest are not in college, but serving around the world in each branch of the Armed Forces.

Dear Mrs. Argel-Bastian,

I thank your son and all members of our military for their service. I am so very sorry to hear of the thoughtless and tactless emails you received. They were rude and without compassion. But, Hollywood is a minority, no matter what they think. We live in the real world and people here respect the members of our armed forces. It is because of them, that selfish self-centered entertainers are able to carry on in their bubble-like existence, practicing the principles of free speech that other countries only wish they could partake. So, please accept my condolences on the death of your son and know that I am grateful for all he did for us; people he didn't even know. Because of him, and others like him, my teenage sons are safe and I sleep better at night. Shame on those that sent hateful emails at a time when you were grieving. Let them hope they never have to walk in your shoes. Sometimes I think because so much of their lives are spent in front of a camera and reading from a script, they don't know how to speak without one. That's no excuse, though. It's just indicative of the culture. Please remember, not everyone hangs on every word of the entertainment industry and there are lots of us that are not swayed by them. I wish you peace and I hope you can enjoy the memories of your son when you watch your grandson grow.

You do Derek, Logan and all our fallen heroes and their loved ones a wonderful and needed voice. I feel like the tide is beginning to turn on the ugliness towards our soldiers that comes out of Hollywood. Slowly mind you…but happening. I for one would go out of my way to support entertainers who give any of their time for the benefit of our troops. Those who've been disgustingly ignorant and hateful..I will go out of my way to boycott any project they touch, whether it be movies, commercial voice overs or print ads. E-mails to advertisers actually do have effect. God Bless our troops and their families.

Just a beautiful, commentary on a great man and how his life impacted the world around him. It reminds me (and hopefully those like me) that even though I might not have a lot, there's no excuse for not doing more for the military and their families who provide us the opportunities we have.
