You absolutely have to love Gary Sinese and what he does. The man is a true patriot and is worth a million Sean Penn's.
I attended this year's festival in DC, fantastic work spanning generations. I was quite impressed with the documentary "Bedford: the town they left behind" exceptional.
Oh, if I were in California, I'd happily take the time to go to that. I love Gary Sinise, and I can't think of a worthier cause than supporting our military.
I should add the short film "Kapisa" is definitely worthy of turning into a full length.
"A Touch of Home" is also a terrific documentary telling the story of women who risked their lives to support the morale of those serving in Vietnam, it was an honor to meet the women who volunteered; I never knew about what they did until I saw the documentary.
All the films were wonderful
How freakin awesome is Gary Sinise?? What a great cause and a great spokesman.
Sean Penn isn't fit to breath the same air as this man.
Gary Sinise is a cool guy. Gary has his priorities in order. Love his television show too!
WELL SAID, Hank
Gary Sinise was one of my favorite actors long before he became active supporting our troops. Gary is one of those rare individuals who back up his words with real action. I hope the G.I. Film Festival is a huge success. Wish I could go.
I wish the GI Film Fest site had a trailer for "Kapisa" because it sounds interesting.
Best movie that hasn't been made yet will be SSGT David Bellavia memoir "House to House" about the battle for Fallujah. That would win the GI Film Fest and rake in serious bucks in the domestic box office if someone had the balls to produce it just like the book…
Maybe Gary Sinise?
Gary Sinise is a class act. He was in Iraq while I was there. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see him since we weren't on the base. This is the Clark Gable and Jimmy Stewart of today.
You were serving in Iraq?
Thank you for being willing to serve your country. You are the class act.
Sinise is one of the few in Hollywood that does not allow an inflated ego screw up his character acting. It's too bad we don't see him in more big screen releases.
Wonder why???
Agree with Pattyintexas…thank you for your service!
Well, thankyou Miss Patty, but I just needed something to do. That's one thing about the army, they'll fill your time.
Thankyou for saying so, but I think it was more guilt than anything. I couldn't stand to see other people doing my fighting for me.
No crap. We probably won't see John Voight anymore either.
I wouldn't trade a Gary Sinese for 5 million Sean Penns
Big fan of Gary Sinise since forever. He was great in that movie about the Apocalypse -was it a Stephen King?
He had a dog, and was a hero even then (in the movie)….
Sinise is a class act, yes he is.
When I read something about Gary Sinise, I always recall the look on his face as he tells Forrest Gump, "I've never thanked you for saving my life," right before he jumps off the boat. One of my favourite movie moments, ever.
I wish I could go <SQUEEEEE!!!> . Guess I'll just be hoping for pictures.

Well, thank God there are others to support Mr. Sinise in films, if he so chooses. I'm sure he will be able to find backing. He is the lead actor, a producer, and a writer for CSI: NY alone. He is still in high demand and a big draw. We'll see him again when he's ready, I'm sure. Lucky for us, he has chosen to let us see him every week on a great show, and he is taking his own time and spending his own money to help out our troops. Everyone here is so right and I'm so happy to know others agree with me: he's a true American, a true Hollywood hero, a wonderful replacement to Jimmy Stewart and Clark Gable. IMHO, THIS is what Hollywood people should be doing with their time and money, instead of partying and drugs and sex.
I first saw him in that movie… it was The Stand. The only King book I've ever read. He was the best actor in the whole miniseries.
Vince: You are right, too bad Hanks didn't turn out to be as squared away as Sinise, he got close, imagine if Gibson had been picked for Gump, that would have been a double wammy. Gibson in "We Were Soldiers" was awesome. The end of the battle scene there and the end of "Gump" both tear me up. Google SGT MACKENZIE to get the song played during the final battle scene, it is haunting.
