Marine Filmmaker Featured at Festival
by G.I. Film FestivalThere are many Iraq War documentaries on the market, but few are as exciting and honest as “Triangle of Death,” directed by first time filmmaker Marine CPL Folleh Tamba. Triangle of Death shares the story of the marines of Echo Company 3rd Platoon as they endured life changing experiences, fought a war, trained a nation’s army, endured daily mortar and sniper fire, and managed to survive a year in Iraq’s deadliest zone, the triangle of death. The marines of 2/24 worked together through these hardships to create the only outcome they could imagine in their world: Mission Accomplishment.

In how many documentaries do you get to see a filmmaker who is wounded in a firefight? And in how many films do you get to see the filmmaker’s camera getting blown up by an IED? All that and more occur in this gripping, graphic and personal film. Triangle of Death will premiere at the GI Film Festival, on Sunday, March 17, 2009 in Washington DC. Co-Producer Juan Montelongo, of Wold Dog Films, will attend this world premiere representing the film, while the film’s director, Folleh Tamba will be on a ship returning for his third tour as a Marine Rifleman to Iraq.
CPL Tamba is not only a filmmaker but a decorated Marine–he was wounded while in Iraq, but refused medical help for several days so he could continue fighting along side of his fellow Marines. CPL Tamba’s parents escaped the civil war of Liberia and brought their children to Chicago to find a better life. His family found peace, prosperity and patriotism in the US and instilled those values in their children. All the Tamba children joined the military — following in big brother Folleh’s footsteps. He has a sister in the Army (who served with him in Iraq during his first tour), another sister in the Air Force, and a younger brother in the Army.
When asked why he made the film, Tamba replied, ”I just wanted Americans to know the truth about Iraq. That we are making a positive difference.”
If you enjoy this film and want to see more like it get the recognition they deserve, please consider supporting the GI Film Festival. The GI Film Festival is a 501 c (3) organization and all donations are deductible to the full extent of the law. No contribution is too small.

These are really interesting. I'd like to see these films (sadly am not in DC). Are these available yet? I don't see that they can be purchased on the website?
Any chance, some of these will be sold to folks like the Discovery Channel?
All the more reason to thank a soldier, marine, sailor, or airman every time you see one!!!
Another reason for conservatives to have their own cable channel. It's the only way we're going to get our message out on a broad scale. I am writing a check to The GI Film Festival, and I'll enthusiastically contribute to any viable entity working on getting us a cable channel. If the Fox News Channel is any indication, a purely conservative channel would get immediate viewership. Even here in lefty San Francisco, FNC left the competition in the dust from its inception. But Fox feels overly compelled to do the "fair and balanced" thing. That's fine for a station that bills itself as a news outlet. I'm looking at the concept of a cable channel that bills itself as "All Right, All the Time." Won't be easy with Obama controlling the FCC.
CPL Tamba, thank you for keeping us safe.
Most of the links posted in this series of articles are formatted incorrectly. The Triangle of Death DVD can be purchased directly from the official site. A brief making-of-vid can be seen here.
I agree with Law Hawk SF.
We need a conservative, patriotic, America-positive themed tv station!
God bless our troops.

Naturally the few films I'd actually like to see about Iraq are so underfunded they don't get much play
Hold one of these festivals in the San Diego/Orange County, CA area. This is plenty of military support down here.
Do you mean April or May? Not March 17
May
