No, those strong words are not about my new mesh thong ( I’m only giving the people what they want). And they aren’t reactions to the mosque built near Ground Zero. They are responses to the putrid pastor’s plans to burn the Quran this Saturday, Sept 11th.
And I agree with all of them. The dude, Rev. Terry Jones, is an attention seeking sack of poop who’s accomplished everything he wanted: He put his morbidly mustachioed face all over the map – and embarrassed everyone from Gainesville, Florida. I’ve been trying to do that for years.
But in a weird way, this handle-barred hooligan has taught us a few lessons:
1. That mostly everyone agrees the pastor can burn the book, but he’s a big weenie if he does it. This was exactly my argument over the construction of the mosque. So in a weird way, this guy may have clued in others who missed that subtle point: The mosque can be built, but a compromise (or a conversation about it) might have been nice. Don’t get me wrong: the Koran burning is pure provocation, and I’m not sure that’s entirely the case with the mosque. But both issues deal with poor judgment. The key distinction: the pastor is a total barfpuck.
2. America’s reaction to this idiot should be a blueprint for all Muslims, when one of their religious jackasses act up. There was no delay in smacking this fuzz-faced freak around, and frankly I’d like to see more of that from Muslims, whenever one of their extremists rears its ugly head.
3. I’d also like to see that from our own government. I mean, it doesn’t take much bravery to take down a stereotypical wackjob like Jones. However, going after PC-protected knuckleheads takes more stones. But that may be asking too much.

I'm personally not willing to jump on the "I think he's wrong for doing this" bandwagon. I'm tickled that he's doing this and I think something like this has been long overdue. I'm glad that this guy has got the cojones for whatever reason to publicly flout the hypocritical standards we are constantly forced to endure on behalf of islam. I think that it's ridiculous that all these various public figures cite some retaliation on behalf of jihadists as a reason to muzzle our 1st amendment rights; this is the whole freakin point of having a 1st amendment! I'd imagine the key two would be, in order:
#1: There actually ISN'T any "official" Islamic religious law that holds pictures of Mohammed to be an affront, while burning or otherwise descrating a Qu'ran is.
#2: As such, while in somewhat crass taste, organized mass-depictions of Mohammed can at least be construed as a form of protest against a specific fundamentalist subset of Islam, mass-burning the Qu'ran can't really be read as anything other than a "screw you!" to ANY practicing Muslim.

My husband went to school with a few and had one as a friend. They are ordinary people living ordinary lives, who just happen to be Muslim. I can't show them to you because they aren't on any news shows or movies anywhere. There are good Muslims out there. There are many different sects and not all of them teach the same radical doctrine and not all of them interpret the koran the same way, similarly to how differently some people interpret the bible.

You can get a copy of the Koran for free in DC at one of the embassies (can't remember which country, but my husband wanted to get one several years ago and never got around to it). I certainly wouldn't be burning a book I paid for, but then I am against book burning in general. I love books too much. And books I don't like I pass along.
Ed Bagle, Jr suggests that to save paper, you download the Koran/Quaran onto your Kindle and toss that in the fire instead.

I think it is wrong because I wouldn't appreciate it if someone burned one of the books that I hold sacred. If I don't want someone to do it to me, then I don't do it either. The whole golden rule thing.

I had many of them as "friends" at university. What was really scary was the nicest one of them all was the first to break the news to me: "I'm a product of Jewish propaganda." (I don't come across as hyper pro-America at times.) Turns out my "moderate" friends were just as radical as the suicide bombers, just a lot smarter. Women (and therefor ME) are basically cattle and all nations should fall under Sharia law. Scary stuff. Not so much the rhetoric, but how much of it hides behind fair facades of "moderate" muslims.
