Last night I told you about the SF mayor banning city employees from traveling to Arizona. But now, in a move meant to bring the state to its knees, the Montreal pop band “stars” has tweeted that until its “racist new immigration law is repealed,” they will boycott the state.
Arizona’s reaction? One of devastation.

Wow, they’re taking it harder than I thought.
Look, I love Canada for many reasons (it’s where I keep my winter clothes), but they don’t share a porous border with a troubled country with limited opportunities for its hardworking people. In 2008, do you know how many people illegally immigrated to Canada? I could count it on my hand, if I had 120,000 fingers.
There are almost five times as many already in Arizona.
And let’s not forget what happens to Mexicans who try to seek refugee status in Canada. According to the New York Times, in 2006 just 28 percent of claims made by Mexicans were approved in Canada, compared with 47 percent from all nationalities.
Wonder what Canadians have against them?
Probably nothing -but even Yanks can play this game.
But look, racism sucks in all forms. I mean, imagine if you were a government who passed a law that actually excluded an entire race – say the Chinese – from entering your country altogether! For like 25 years!
I mean, that’s gross. And, back in the 1920’s, Canadian.
Finally, to all you boycotty bands: focus. In Iran, homosexuality is punishable by death, and human rights groups estimate some 4,000 gays have been executed since the Islamic revolution in 1979. In the summer of 2005, two teens were hanged in public, for being gay.
Pick real injustices – instead of the stylish ones – to rail against, and the response might not be stifled laughter.
And if you disagree with me, you’re a racist homophone.

Greg, you're on target on this. Canadians don't often get these viewpoints and as I'm sure you know are mostly reasonable people once they have the facts. Speak to them and you'll find support for liberal viewpoints dwindle not just in Canada, but in the US too..
I just heard audio of a sniveling harry reid trying to bamboozle the Republicans into "working with them" on immigration reform which includes a path to citizenship.
A path to citizenship is a non starter. Only after the border has been secured and criminal illegals have been repatriated with their country of origin, should we consider legal status. Democrats want to give citizenship to illegals solely for votes which will entrench these leftwing sellouts. Citizenship is for those born here and those who enter legally. Even banana republics have higher standards than we do, we cannot continue revisiting this issue year after year; seal the phuqin border you derelict DC vermin.
This issue is interesting to me as a Canadian. What I mean it’s another issue Canadians love to judge the US on. “OH the mean US, banning illegal immigrants.” You know because you guys are so mean. Yet, its east to pass judgment, when your not being over run by illegal immigrants are facing a huge crime wave. So we sit up here and look down on all you evil Americans, mean while we sleep safety at night knowing you’re the 800 lbs gorilla who keeps us safe at night.

I know of people who are constructing exit strategies from the good old USA. Australia and Ireland seem to be the destinations of choice.
I had two great laughs today- the first was a report on the news that people of leftist persuasion (is that the current PC term?) are boycotting Arizona Ice Tea Company products in protest of the state's new immigration law. Arizona Ice Tea is a New York-based company, owned and operated by New Yorkers; nothing to do with Arizona, save the name.
The second was this video. Absolutely hysterical. These guys oughta have their own reality sitcom.

Which is really the gist of it. The liberals have everything going for them–except reality.
No one has ever complained about the boatloads of Cubans and Haitians who are arrested upon setting foot in Florida, jailed, and then deported. Why is the standard different for Florida? Why did little Elian have to be sent back to Cuba, but yet the children of illegals Hispanics get to stay?

The best way to support Arizona is to start encouraging your state to pass a similar bill. The sooner the better.

Heh. I heard Neal Boortz posit an interesting situation on his radio show today to a caller, about the illegal immigration debate.
What if Canada were all of a conservative bent; less taxes, less governmental regulation, and less interference in one's life. And what if (rather suddenly) a repressive government began wielding its authority over them, and they started to illegally immigrate to the United States in droves, while Obama and Co. are in power?
The northern border would have a 20 foot high wall with two rows of 50 yard wide sections of concertina wire, with the National Guard patrolling between them with attack dogs, and the Leftists in charge of the Democrats (and still embedded in the Republicans) would be howling about it non-stop.
All of this political bickering and boycot backlash pales in comparison — and looks embarrassingly trivial — when you consider, as did that moonbat in the video, the incredible life experienced by rocks.
We should build a foot-bridge over the US from Mexico to Canada.

I actually called the Gov's office (from the east coast) to congratulate her–I've taken to doing that now when our representatives do the right thing, and I was told that the support she has received nationwide has been 'overwhelming.' The rep on the phone also mentioned that, just as you've pointed out, other states are considering following suit.

I'm glad to see so many people from AZ commenting this on the Big's. I was raised in AZ and still have family there, so I understand the issues, but MORE importantly the NASTY politics over the years that have lead to this. I am so proud that finally, AZ was able to do something about the problem (guess you had to get rid Janet Napalitano ….. but then she did the big smack down on AZ law enforecement from DC taking away their certification to enforce the fed immigration laws). I love Sheriff Joe, but no matter how hard they try, they haven't taken him down yet. I wish someone from AZ (or the Bigs) would inform everyone about BS that has been happening politically there for many years, then maybe everyone would understand. rufussheltie, I am one of those peeps you referring to. I started my exit plan just under two years ago. I hope to complete my expatriation in two years with legal residence in the Dominican Republic. My Dominican Citizenship will come on the third year using an immigration attorney there.
The real question then comes……do I surrender my US passport and revoke my US citizenship. To be honest I have not made that decision yet. But I expect the overreach of the US banking, tax and security laws will push me over the edge eventually.

It's really annoying how other countries moan about how we try to deal with illegal immigration. If leftist and liberals and progressives and statists want American to be like every other country country, why don't we just adopt Mexico's immigration policy? That policy makes Arizona's pale in comparison. Read Michelle Malkin's piece on Townhall for a taste of Mexico's immigration policy and find out who the real racists are!
By the by, I challenge any open-borders advocate to post their address, either online or make fliers to post on telephone poles, and announce their homes are open for anyone to enter. Let's see how they would enjoy "open borders" if they experienced it on a personal level. And anyone who comes into their homes cannot be called a burglar or thief; they'd have to be called an "undocumented family member."
