Daily Gut: The Phony Rage of Ratigan
by Greg GutfeldNow, there’s always a scene in zombie movies, when one non-zombie character will turn to another, and say, “If I ever turn into that, I want you to kill me.” Then they make love, and reload.
Well, I want you, dear viewer, to make the same promise to me. Except instead of killing me if I become a zombie, I want you to kill me if I ever turn into Dylan Ratigan.
I am not joking. If you see symptoms of me frothing, twitching, or ranting until my eyeballs pop out and roll across the floor – I want you to hack me to pieces with a hatchet. Try to make it quick.
See, there is a reason why no one should ever be Ratigan. He has a hard time being himself. Check him out interviewing a Tea Party leader, Mark Williams, as if Williams himself ran a concentration camp in the 1940’s.
Does Williams get a chance to respond? Not really. Because when he tries, Ratty accuses him of trying to hijack the interview!
Anyway, I guess the segment was meant to analyze the fringe elements in an otherwise earnest movement filled with decent people. But because the analyst is Dylan Ratigan and the couch is MSNBC, you know it was just a ruse used to paint all tea partiers as a bunch of Nazi-sympathizers who eat babies.
More delightful, though, is the segment banner, which reads “Anger in America.” Which makes sense – judging from his manufactured outrage, the angriest person in America is Dylan Ratigan.
It must suck doing Rachel Maddow’s laundry.
And if you disagree with me, you’re a homophobic racist tea-partying baby-eater.

Can't wait to watch my Red Eye tape! I have resisted the urge to watch this rant, and this bozo Rattigan will get ten times the exposure on Fox than it originally got—hope he is "shamed," but since he is a liberal and doesn't possess that ability, I won't be holding my breath.
Total and absolute tool. Not a brain in his head. Everything is done by changing the premise of the debate on the fly, shouting down your opponent, and appealing to emotions while dismissing facts extreme prejudice.
Man I used to be so great at that. There is a certain thrill that comes with trashing some one so effectively they can't even respond.
But alas, as I grew older and wiser, I had to admit, it's all a farce. A show. Just a routine. It gets old after a while.
So I got bored and started thinking about what I was really saying and doing, and man, what a wake up call. I applied Aristotelian logic to my own positions, and I crumpled like, well, water.
So I decided to come up with a moral frame work that I can live with, and, here I am. Thanks BH and Gutt!
What a @$$clown! Really. That's all it takes to have a show on MSNBC? Does he have pictures of Keith Olbermann with a dead girl? Does he have pictures of Rachel Maddow with a live man?

Mark Williams is a great guy. He had his own talk show here in Sacramento on KFBK, a Clear Channel affiliate (and the very station where Rush Limbaugh began his show!)….Williams infuriated the leftists to such an extent that they blackmailed KFBK until they fired him.
Williams was so effective a firebrand Conservative that the station that launched and nurtured RUSH FREAKING LIMBAUGH caved into the hate and fired him.

Been to a Tea Party rally, seen some on TV. Don't recall ever seeing one racist sign or hear one racist comment. What a perfectly ridiculous strawman argument.
Compare that to the kind of insane and violent talk and actions you see at a leftist rally (here in St. Paul they were planning on bombing the RNC). Somehow real hatred and violence never matters if it is against the right kind of people.
I heard this on the Dana Show earlier and couldn't believe what Ratigan said. Kill Black people? Women? Children?
And then he cuts the dudes mic and proclaims that he (Williams) refused to answer his questions, which weren't even real questions. Although the funniest thing about this whole thing is when he says that Williams tried to use Ratigan's show to promote his "propaganda". Dude no one watches your show.

if a politician wants to put a tv personality on the spot they need only agree to all interviews based on the sole condition that it begins with each taking a drug test. i guarantee half of them would run (chicago news broadcasters you know who you are)and avoid any such challenge. MSNBC is the greatest comedy network, shear genius the way they parody the news, they make Colbert look like a high school skit. Although sometimes they push the envelope, their Mass. election coverage with that Obermensch guy was almost believable.

It was hilarous this past Monday morning on Morning Joe. Joe Scarborough actually said OUT LOUD that Morning Joe's ratings were "skyrocketing!" HA! I saw an ad for Ratigan while watching curling (I was hoping it would help me get to sleep.). He promoted himself as wanting to present objective truth from both sides on issue. After seeing that clip, I consider not only him a foaming at the mouth crazy, hired apparently to counter MSNBC's perception of Glenn Beck. Beck is not my taste, but I don't see him conducting antics like this. Beck mocks people, but I haven't seen him demand an answer he wants upon pain of cutting their mikes. I suppose that's what they think the key is for the popularity of Beck, Hannity and O'Reilly. But if I were directing this show, I'd have cut off Ratigan's mike.
He reminds me of Soupy Sales without a sense of humor. I promise that if Greg ever starts acting like this, I'll call for a strait jacket. I don't believe in zombies, vampires or lycanthropes.

After spending my whole adult life following politics (and, unfortunately, debating politics with the likes of Ratigan) this phenomenon never ceases to disturb me. There are people out there whose emotions are stronger than their reasoning. Their gut-feeling biases (fostered mostly from bad childhood psychology) are stronger than their ability to integrate novel facts. They numerous, they vote, they're politically active, and they turn American political dialog into group therapy at the nuthouse. And they watch and sponsor junk on TV like this.
This must just be the 80's baby in me talking but when I first heard that name (here of course) I immediately thought of the villain from The Great Mouse Detective. This video indicates that they're both equally insane.

Tuesday night Jay Leno (who's new show is on NBC) asked Sarah Palin about always watching one news source for news, why not watch more than one "to hear all sides", and Leno said he watches MSNBC among other channels. Well, one might ask which part of MSNBC is Leno watching? The segments where they don't have interviewers and opinion pundits on and they merely report news? Or the folks like Olberman, Ratigan, Maddow? 'Cause when you stack the Fox News prime time weeknight line up against MSNBC folks like this guy, how could you tolerate night after night after night of this guy and stay tuned longer term? Maybe on a given night whoever is being interviewed I might not be interested in, but for heaven sakes it's not an interview when you browbeat, cut off, and misconstrue what your guest is about and won't let your guest talk? Will that treatment attract more guests, even guests who do reflect your own point of view? I think not….

All they do is cover news that other networks present – including CBS, FOX, CNN – and the pretend that their "critique" of the news stories is news. Oh wait, no, that's just the basis of Morning Joe, Rachel Maddow, and Keith Olberman's shows. It's so smug or ridiculous like this interview that it's hard to imagine sitting through a full episode of their shows.
