She’s worried over the perception that she may have been hired for her sexual identity rather than her qualifications. “Being the first sucks,” she says, adding that she hopes to “always win people over with who I am and what I can do.”

Me too. After all, I’m also a trailblazer – as the world’s first gnome to host a news program, I feel a lot of pressure from the woodland creature community to succeed. If I do, then who knows who might follow in my footsteps: centaurs, minotaurs, fawns, succubi, hags, ogres, tree-people, trolls, marsh-wiggles, People of the Toadstools (don’t call them “toads”), and finally, one day: Robert Reich.
But Amanda, you only have the groups that champion transgender rights – as well as your own political party – to blame for this. After all, it’s the Human Rights Campaign who said quote, “As the first transgender person appointed by the president, Amanda is not only eminently qualified for her new position…but she is also a trailblazer for equality.” And of course, it’s the Democrats – the party of identity politics – who made Obama’s racial makeup ominpresent in 2008. We needed to prove to the world that America could elect a black President, after all. And that hasn’t made Obama’s job any easier. The same thought must keep him up every night: “Was I elected because of color or competence?” Go back to sleep, Mr. P. – you know the answer.
Anyway, I’m happy for Amanda. But to be taken seriously, she and others will have to stop taking gender or ANY – identity, seriously. The role of government is not meant to be a bastion for employment trailblazing, but to protect us from harm, pure and simple. And for Simpson’s sake, the sooner they drop the “she’s the first” rhetoric, the better it will be for her.
And besides, being a transsexual in government is no big deal. Qaddafi broke that ground decades ago.

Ironically if Hussein applied for a position in the FBI he’d be rejected for his close ties with a domestic terrorist, bill ayers, but apparently that’s not enough to keep him from being president, nor is the fact that he’s hidden all of his transcripts/documents.
I cannot emphasize this enough: liberals/democrats are mentally ill; they are foreign policy failures; they are economic illiterates; all they know is how to steal our wealth and strip us of our freedoms.

At the office of the company where I worked HR had a problem. This guy decided he would come to work in a dress and wanted to be called by a women's name. He had not had any surgery so I don;t even know what that made him. The problem was not allowing him to do this. The problem was which bathroom should he use.
He did not feel comfortable using the restroom as other men as in his mind they were the opposite sex. The women in the office however did not feel comfortable with him using the women's restroom as (at least until he made a trip to Denmark, Sweden or wherever they actually do that surgery) he was in reality still a man despite his shaved legs and pantyhose. So he answer was that our floor would have a single family bathroom with one John and this is what he would use. So the company had to modify the building on the floor to handle this.
I am sure the government must have a contigency plan for Amanda's office.

Democrats never seem to get that the only equipment that should be of concern is the brain. Does Amanda possess a fully implemented brain? Yrs ago, I met this couple in the aptmts I was living in. It was getting dark, they werent close, but I heard their names as RON and Lisa. My kids, 11 and 13 at the time, played outside everyday. A few weeks later, I mentioned RON and Lisa. My kids cracked up. My 13 yr old daughter said, "Ron? Mom, that's Rhonda. As in RON-DUH!" It's amazing to me that even here on Big Hollywood, this man, Simpson, is being referred to as a "she," as though it were so. W hile surgery and drugs can create a facsimile of a man or a woman, they are no more real men or women than shop window dummies. However, if the surgery makes them happy then that's Ok, what is NOT OK is saying they have changed their sex.

i don't think it's at all unreasonable to assume that this administration, which is led by our first ever 'affirmative action president', appointed this person primarily as a sociological statement. i'm only really surprised by the apparent fact that their primary objective did not result in choosing an unqualified candidate, i.e. union shill, campaign donor, political hack, etc.
