Daily Gut: Lay Off the ‘Jersey Shore’ Cast
by Greg GutfeldSo many in the media are delighting in the stupidity of the “Jersey Shore” cast. Just recently, Jay Leno had them on a quiz bowl, and the audience – buoyed by their own perceived superiority – chortled at their various mistakes.
But I ask: who’s dumber: the “Jersey Shore” cast, or those who call the “Jersey Shore” cast dumb?
The answer is the latter, which I think means “paddlefish.”

First off, when did these kids ever pass themselves off as smart? Did they ever say they were members of Mensa? Of course not: the only pompous jerks who tell you they’re in Mensa – are in Mensa.
Also, it’s not like these kids ever showed up in front of the cameras, clutching their diplomas from Cornell’s agricultural college – like some MSNBC hosts are known to do. No, they’re only proud of their abs. So what. None of that stuff affects you. The fact that they’re honest about their shallowness already puts them on an intellectual level higher than Sean Penn and Gynneth Paltrow, combined.
Look, I watch the show, and I admit the dudes are knuckleheads, and the women are mindless lushes. The random violence is gross. It’s disgusting.
But we know it’s disgusting.
In my mind, far more dangerous is the crap that’s just as disgusting but passes itself off as enlightening. I’m not just referring to The View or the Huffington Post – but also the climate change conference and any CNN special on race. Why obsess over some punks slathered in hair gel and fake tan when you’ve got Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid with their hands on the wheel?
In sum, lay off the dumb. There’s more idiocy in the “Situation Room” than there is in The Situation’s abs. Yeah, Leno sure made the Jersey folk look silly on his show, but did you see Wolf Blitzer tank on Jeopardy?
He did that all by himself.
And if you disagree with me, you’re probably a racist homophobe.
Tonight: What a line-up!

This is both true, and horrifying.

What is this "Jersey Shore" you speak of Greg?
I can't believe a "grown man" like that idiot Olbermann BRINGING HIS DIPLOMA to work! For what?
What a horrific buffoon!
If the Demon-crat(SS) really want to cede 50 to 75 seats back to the GOP – PLEASE push for legalizing ILLEGAL aliens residing in our counrty. PUHLEEZE!
Let's start with all of the MS-13 gangbangers and go from there Democrat(SS)! Let's do it, please!
Rick Sanchez CNN: "Drunken CNN Rick Sanchez Kills Pedestrian"
Rick Sanchez knows about “killings”. He knows what it is like to take an innocent person’s life. He knows what it is like to have a few too many beers at a Miami Dolphin’s game. He knows what it is like to use his automobile to run down an innocent pedestrian AND CONTINUE DRIVING. He knows what it is like to need “another beer” to calm his nerves BEFORE returning to the accident where his victim DIED. He knows what it is like to realize that in his moment of stupidity, the one thing most important to him was “how will this affect my career”.
Yet this PIG is lecturing US about morality. F–k this empty suited liberal pimping another empty suit – Odimbass
I was catching up on some of this weeks episodes of "Red-Eye" last night, and heard you tell Bill "Robin to your Batman" Schultz to "shut da phuk-up" in (I believe) Wednesdays episode. Ouch…….. Jersey Shore boys have nothing on you Greg. You should have them on Red-Eye doing a "Pose-Off"
Greg
You are as smart as a short curly haired man can hope to be! Thanks for the laughs.
Okay, okay, we know that you can be a great American without any obligation of having super-natural intelligence, but still…
please, for the benefit of all mankind, just please stop watching reality shows, especially this one.
(It's still okay to watch MXC, but only for the commentaries.)
I would put this crew up against Oberman.
Regardless of the outcome Oberman would probably get a beating out of it, and then the dudes would step in and give him a second one.
LOL! Olbermann is a dope. If anyone on EARTH needs a good old fashoined ass kicking it's Keithy O.!
If the chick in the blue bikini wears only that blue bikini, I just might have to check out the show … cuz I'm a checker outer.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha! Olbys a douche ! Maybe the Jersey Shore guys will kick his ass!
Bravo Greg. I am glad to see someone defend these kids. They are not trying to pass themselves off as anything. They are real, which is more than you can say for just about anyone else on tv. I would rather watch a maraton of Jersey Shore than one minute of the idiots Olberman, Maddow, Matthews, Vanderbilt or the rest of the yucks who think they are so smart. I would match the Jersey Shore kids IQ for IQ with any of them (well except for Snookie).
How things change. I mean, aren't these the Saturday Night Fever people? They were considered cool back then.
Those guys would be "Sonny Corleone" and Keithy would be 'Connie's hubby' – "Carlo" …getting his ass kicked all over the street.
If anybody needs their ass kicked and to be fired from their job (in no particular order) it's that blowhard Sanchez. He is the reason why we use the word "douche" to refer to people.
I think you just love the situation, Greg
A Cornell sewer sweeper carries more weight to spew on MsnbC than a mediocre sports guy who got bounced from studio to studio, coast to coast.
Eh. Another reality show about people other people want to see so they can feel superior to them. In three yrs time no one will even remember it.
It's been my experience that most of the viewers of these types of reality shows are intelligent people. They can just watch it for what it is – entertainment. The people I have heard bash these kinds of shows are the types of people who are much less intelligent than they think they are. The latter type of person just "can't stand to watch it because those people are soooo stupid!!" Do they perhaps see themselves in the characters and that makes them a little uncomfortable? I could be generalizing way too much here, but that has been my experience.
The Jaywalking segments are openly biased. You notice they rarely show anyone who gets those questions right — mainly because right answers in this case wouldn't be funny. One wonders how many people they go through before finding the real idiots.
true dat!!
Jersey Shore? It's like "Married with Children" if by 'married' you mean "A Guido" and by 'children' you mean a joisey accent. On the whole the show is about as entertaining as watching a leprechaun drinking a unicorn's blood out of a smurf's skull. And if you disagree with me then you're… you know… what Greg said.
(I like Red Eye too!)
All I know is that these guidos and guidettes are the most entertaining thing I've seen on TV in a long while.
Y'all really need to distinguish between immigrants and gang members – there is a difference.
Oh please–lay off the dumb because they don't claim to be smart? Are you kidding me? First, I don't consider anyone who knows who the VP is to be smart–I consider them to be minimally conscious.
Next, you claim the View, HuffPo, etc. are more dangerous because they pass themselves off as enlightened, but guess what–the people they hook are the dumb ones you find to be so innocuous. The dumb people are why they're more relevant. Oh, and those idiots vote too.
Hey wait. I am not a hater. I am the product of two Sicilian parents and I am a Jersey shore local, have very fair skin, born blonde & green eyes. I spent my summers here and we were never like these people at all.
You had me with you until you said those idiots vote. If they did register to vote it was because Acorn
cooked the books.
May I have your phone number?
If you put a train wreck and some drama queens into a blender, this is what would pour out!
i'm with you greg, as usual… but i don't really see how this show is any different from any other mtv 'reality' show. a bunch of air-headed, self-obsessed teens share a house… didn't that used to be called 'the real world' ??
Hey Greg, these kids are the reason you can't go to certain bars in Belmar at 3 in the morning anymore. You should ask yourself what this world is coming to!
There is a difference between being stupid, and being proud of your ignorance. I have no idea how much money those people make, but whatever it is, it's too much. Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life, but I guess 2 outta 3 ain't bad…..
Yo…Maria so… you're a green eyed blonde "siciliani" MMMM—-MMMMM ! Wanna' hook up ???
Awe! That is so sweet of you! I would but I don't think my husband would be happy. If you spent any time at Maynards or Maloney's (after beach five beers for $1!) or anywhere at the South Jersey shore, especially in the late 80's, and the 90's, we probably know each other.
Wow, I think this is the first time I've been called a pompous jerk in an article – and then a socially awkward and painfully self-conscious geek in the comments. Perhaps some folks ought to meet a few Mensans before tarring them all with that kind of brush.
You must be conservative you believe in the sanctity of marriage. If this was a Huffpo thread
I would have had a better chance. Since I'm 3000 miles west of you I'd best just pine and let it
go at that. Husband=lucky guy.

I’m not just referring to The View or the Huffington Post – but also the climate change conference and any CNN special on race.

I had the misfortune of seeing Rick Sanchez talk about illegal immigration yesterday. He spat, "They call them criminals! These are the people who mow your lawns and clean your homes!" Actually, I do that, Rick. You forgot to mention that they drink and drive and kill US citizens. Something you know a LOT about. I wouldn't go on his show without mentioning that (though my segment wouldn't air). Sorry, Rick. You don't do a hit-and-run DUI and get to talk to me about *anything*.
I have no idea what this show is or what it is about. But, I can say with 100% certainty that I would prefer to watch a 12-hour marathon of it instead of 1 hour of Penn and/or Paltrow talking.
I'm not convinced anyone that goes on that Leno segment is ever as dumb as they appear. There is a certain "embellish your stupidity" feel to that segment. Playing a character, if you will. Perhaps, however, that is my hope of what the situation truly is.
This cast of characters, I hope, are viewed by kids as fools, not cool.
i clean my house, and mow my lawn, does that mean i am a illegal alien?
My IQ qualifies me for Mensa, but I'm too much of a pompous jerk to hang with those socially awkward and painfully self-conscious geeks.
Oh, please. Perhaps the majority of people who watch these types of reality shows see themselves in the characters and that makes them uncomfortable, so they claim those who bash the shows are much less intelligent than they think they are.
I flipped through and saw these idiots on TV the other day. My TV still feels greasy. But Greg is right. Hours upon hours of these losers is still better than a blip of Maddow or Olbermann.
I'm glad Sarah Palin made stupid cool again
Thanks for enlightening me about Sanchez. I had never heard about his DUI homicide. And let us all remember that before plopping down at CNN, he was on MESSNBC for years. I've always thought he was a laughable dope, but now I realize that he is that and coward who left someone in the street to die.
"about as entertaining as watching a leprechaun drinking a unicorn's blood out of a smurf's "
I linked to that on my facebook. It's getting alot of hits.
that's ok by me. At my age, I find myself prefering bars where everyone is uglier than me. And with each passing year that's getting a little bit harder to find *LOL*
Well you know in post-Beck America, outward displays of intelligence are to be met with scathing derision*
*MEAN WORDS
Excuse me, but isn't what you just did "scathing derision"?
you would be, if only you had a lot more constitutionally guaranteed rights, but as a native-born citizen, sorry charlie, umm, peteee…
"Jersey Shore?" A show about sand crabs. That's entertainment!
The real sad part is their vote counts just as much as mine.
.
Since Mr. Beck is arguably at the peak of his popularity, this is not "post-Beck" America, it might be the "era of Beck" or the "Beckian Age" but "post-" would infer that Mr. Beck's run had concluded.
Lucky you, outward displays of intelligence are not something you need worry about much.
Aren't Stupid's SAT scores locked away?
Never seem the show. But I will now, thanks.
My issue with it is that it's just more rewarding of shallow behavior. What motivation is there for these kids to behave in an appropriate manner or strive for something greater when they're given a freakin' tv show for acting like a$$holes?
illegal is illegal is illegal is illegal…I live 2.1 miles from the Mexico border – I KNOW what I'm talking about.
I meant exactlly what I sald.
Round 'em up and ship 'em out.
White people INVENTED lawnmowers and weedeaters, we KNOW how to operate one.
By the way, my Grandparents were immigrants from Mexico – how 'bout yours?
It's shameful this self righteous clod presumes to tell Americans how we should live. He was more wrried about his 'image' than the guy he hit, lying on the ground.
My great-great grandparents were from Europe, that doesn't change anything does it? Paying government law enforcement to arrest and deport peaceful illegal immigrants forces me to pay to do what I wouldn't otherwise want done.
What part of illegal do you NOT understand?
I L L E G A L – that's your first clue here – follow along.
Get in line, fill out the paperwork, get a card and COME ON IN! Otherwise GET THE F–K OUT!
See how simple that is?
Are you serious?
You'd rather have people piss on our laws so your fatass doesn't hafta trim your own lawn?
Crazy, really crazy.
The problem is that the line takes a minimum of five years long with no promise that even if you are found acceptable that you will be able to move hear. Basically there is a brick wall right now. Is it any wonder why people jump over a fence when there are no doors?
I love laws that benefit society. The current laws amount to prohibition and don't help me and create a market best served by gangs. If the term "peaceful illegal" kills you that is because you don't admit that there are laws that cause more harm than good (and should be examined with an eye towards revision or repeal).
It used to be illegal before 1975 for Americans to own gold coins, prior to 1975 if I had owned gold coins I would have been a "peaceful illegal gold owner". What purpose would it serve to arrest me for being a lawbreaker in that case?
Isn’t this the network that brought us “Rock the Vote”? Is it their plan to keep young American viewers stupid, with mindless television like this, so the entertainment industry can continue to direct their leftist political leanings?
I think that’s something to consider.
I like bars where they play old people music, like Ace of Base.
So what? What if I sneak into Mexico and decide to illegally reside in Cancun – one of my favorite places on earth?
The Mexican immigration people KICK ME OUT.
Why the double standard? Why have laws at all?
Legalizing millions of law breakers benifits NO ONE.
Mexico illegals are KILLING Califonia, absolutely killing that state.
If another country enforces a counterproductive law why should the US government do the same thing?
Legalizing people who aren't harming anybody has immense benefits. I stop having to pay to maintain a wall that takes 70,000 federal employees to make it hard for Jose the gardener from mowing my lawn instead of focusing on protecting America.
There are Mexican criminals in California and Arizona (where I live). There are also plenty of American criminals. The goal should be to have police looking for and arresting criminals who would harm me (or anybody) and not wasting time and money arresting Jose the gardner and then deporting him to Mexico.
I just sat through a semester of seminars by those federal employees you seem to have so much disdain for, the have a dangerous NECCESSARY job. I live a few miles from the most VIOLENT city on EARTH, Juarez, Chihuahua Mexico.
Where are you, Wisconsin? Michigan? If your California you may be just a little myopic.
Yes, I do favor scrapping bad laws. If you don't like government welfare (I don't like it either) then advocate an end to government welfare, not a side issue like immigration. The burden of government welfare is reason enough to scrap government welfare.
It's fundamental.
I don't look down on federal employees but I do object to paying for make-work such as immigration prohibition. Using law enforcement to enforce a prohibition on immigration is counterproductive.
Every Border Patrol employee that arrests a Mexican immigrant who wants only to work is a waste of my tax money.
LOL I actually have a few of their CDs
We have people to take care of the bad Americans – this is about bad illegals and illegals in general. One has nothing to do with other.
By ignoring our law and entering illegally 'Jose' knows he's breaking the law.
More 'Joses' need to FIX Mexico, not stream up here to exploit our country.
I don't equate in any way our law enforcement with 'government welfare'. If you do, you're sadly mistaken.
I get it, you don't want to mow your own lawn. Fine. Who pays when Jose runs over his foot and is transported to County Hospital? We all do. If Jose` takes the bold step of becoming an American I have no problem with that. If Jose` is illegal he's BREAKING OUR LAW.
That's fundemental. Think about it.
Right now, with the existing immigration prohibition law, there are bad guys and drugs stream across our borders. If we want to catch the bad guys we need to make it possible for good guys to get in the US if they want to.
As for ignoring existing law, there are Mexican illegal immigrants doing it every day of the week. If you want people to obey the law you have to make it possible for peaceful Mexican immigrants to follow a law that lets them work in the US if they want to.
The current system is one of selective enforcement. I am sure that at least 95% of the weed in the US is never found and confiscated by the police (and we are better off for that fact).
Bad laws should be either flouted or ignored. Crazy is advocating bad laws be enforced.
County hospitals are another example of government welfare. Your complaint is with government welfare.
Josè doesn't exploit the US any more than Walmart is exploiting me when I buy toothpaste.
"possible for peaceful Mexican immigrants to follow a law" ; we have these laws. Get a GREEN card, it's that simple. They want to work for CASH, no taxes.
"Bad laws should be either flouted or ignored"; Don't pay your taxes, see how that works out.
I don't want another 12 to 14 MILLION Democrat voting MORONS screwing up my country even more.
Ridiculous. U.S. citizens are a different situation.
Key word in the this issue – I L L E G A L.
Oh I LIKE that analogy!!! I keep seeing a little guy in green drinking something rainbow colored from a little blue mug…… heheheheheh
Sorry Thane, I see someone in this country illegally as someone to be deported. I don't understand how you see it differently and have grandparents who came here LEGALLY.
Getting a green card is not simple. The under the table employment you talk about is a result of green cards being nearly impossible to get.
As for becoming Democrats, why would an illegal alien (or anybody) choose to join that group? Their advocacy of socialism is the reason why so many Mexicans prefer to live and work in the US.
I'm sorry what was it you were talking about? lol I was too busy with a real life of my own to waste time on someone elses! LOL I agree with you totally….
I appreciate the freedom that I enjoy in America and if Josè comes here to work then I say that is a good thing. I look at the giant obstacles that the government promotes as a gigantic waste of tax money.
I really cannot fathom your lack of reality. I won't bother trying to reason with you anymore.
What is counter productive about enforcing U.S. immigration laws?
Let's just scrap all the laws we don't like. The burden on social services imposed on our services by illegals is reason enough to close the borders and deport the people showing no regard for our laws.
It's fundemental.
That's patently ridiculous. We have laws, we MUST enforce them. Bad guys, drugs and God knows what else stream across our borders.
Selective enforcement of these laws is crazy. We the laws are changed I'm on board.
This debate really ends at ignoring existing law. All else is jibberish really.
That's the stupidist comment I've read on a Brietbart board!
Stop buying toothpaste.
You know little or nothing about Mexico – that's obvious.
That is so nice of you to say, thank you. Reagan Conservative all the way! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
