The accusation that Thomas the Tank Engine is "sexist" is absurd at best…. it's a show geared towards little boys… :-/ Does that mean Strawberry Shortcake or My Little Pony is sexist too?
Besides, they did have a female conductor before Ringo (the lady that played Frenchie in the movie Grease)…

On Friday, December 18, 2009 thousands of people will be protesting the release of the James Cameron movie, Avatar. The purpose of the protest is as follows:
1) To make all people aware that heterosexual arrogance, assumptions or exclusions of alternative sexualities in movies is no longer acceptable. Diversity and tolerance are human rights.
2) To speak out for all gay, bi-sexual, genderless and transgender people who are not represented by any character in Avatar.
3) To educate people about Evolution and humanity's transition to transgenderism.
All protests will be peaceful and non-confrontational. Suggested methods of protest:
* Stand outside of theaters with signs and pamphlets to express your views
* Sit down in theater lobbies and do not move unless the police use force or violence upon you
* Stand up during a viewing of Avatar and remain standing
* Buy tickets to Avatar in bulk but do not attend showings. An empty theater sends a message
* Bring your mate to the theater and show affection to each other.
Reminder: SILENCE = DEATH. We will be silent no more.

Diversity is a human right? That's the most meaningless statement I've ever encountered. You want transgendered people represented in a movie about giant smurfs? Didn't you already get Vanity Smurf in the original cartoon.
This has to be a parody, not real outrage.
That would be Didi Conn and she was the station manager of Shining Time Station during the live-action portions of the show. Then Mr. Conductor would show up (Ringo Starr and later George Carlin) and introduce the Thomas segments.

Buying tickets in bulk but not going to sit in the theater? They'll all still make their money. "An empty theater sends a message"? They still make their money, anyway, but you make the theater workers happy 'cause they'll have less picking up and vacuuming to do in between showings.

Thomas promotes squashing individual expression? In context of the show (which is make believe), they work for the railroad, of course they're going to squash individual expression if it doesn't involve DOING THEIR JOB! Somehow, we need to take back the universities that are churning out areas of study that have very little value such as the one that examined a kids show for political undertones.

I wasn't planning on seeing Avator because it isn't my type of picture. However this posting…which has absolutely nothing to do with the topic that is being discussed upset me so much that I went only and ordered tickets to see the damn movie. And yes, I'm going to sit through the damn movie. My thoughts regarding those behind the protest will not be kind.
In the future, find someplace else to post your trivel protestl. Either your part of the conversation or your not and in this case you added nothing to the conversation and showed yourself to be ignorant of where the proper place to post you ignorant rantings.

Funny, that prof does have too much empty time, clearly, however, to refer to the University of Alberta as "unaccredited" is a huge error. You can be an idiot and still be accredited. But to the rest of the very fine institution, let's all recognize that the U of A is one of the highest ranked universities in the country, fully accredited.

Whenever I see Dr. Marc Lamont Hill on TV, I always disagree with just about everything he says. However, I have always thought he was a reasonable guy who I could hang with. Not sure about the evolution thing, though, unless our descendants are going to start reproducing asexually. As far as I can tell, continuning the human race will always require intact sexual organs. Oh, but what am I thinking? We don't want the human race, plague that it is on Mother Gaia, to continue! Silly me!
