Daily Gut: DC Social Climbers
by Greg GutfeldNow, there’s something very troubling about the couple who snuck into that White House dinner – and it’s not just their “Easy-Bake oven” hair, or their beady, heat-seeking eyeballs.
No – it’s something else… and that something else makes me want to freeze Tareq and Michaele Salahi solid, board them up in a box and drop them into an Arctic sea, “Blob” style.

Part of it, I guess, is that they’re social climbing chuckleheads – the desperate kind whose quest for notoriety trumps productive living. In their heads, getting close enough to lick a Joe Biden hair plug is worth whatever sacrifice – especially if the sacrifice isn’t theirs.
And, as it turns out, it wasn’t.
Today, the head of the Secret Service has announced that because of the security breach at last week’s dinner, three agents are now on administrative leave. And that’s the price for your fame, Tareq and Michaele: three tarnished careers. Congrats.
But there’s the bigger story here. The world is a crazy place filled with crazy people want to harm our President. Worse, if a nutbag pulls a Hinkley, we now have factions who see nothing but conspiracy. And that means any event putting our President in jeopardy also puts us in jeopardy – more so than any time in history. And I include the chaotic period when unicorns fought griffens over primacy of the forests (1966 – 1970). As you know, the unicorns won.
So don’t’ punish the cops. Punish the couple. Harshly. Force them to spend a year watching their own home videos, or listening to their own fawning voice mail messages – while having actual famous people stop by to ignore them. Make them watch “A Double Shot of Love” at a bar, but not in the VIP section.
Then maybe afterwards, if these socialites had any real class, they’d personally apologize to the police. After all, it might make a great photo for their album.
And if you disagree with me, then you’re probably racist.

The griffens won many tactical victories but lost the war. The unicorns were backed by the Soviets, of course. It was a bad time for the West.
i sorta disagree, when we find out why nobody from the whitehouse social secretary's office was looking at who got in, why punish the secret service? oh, i forgot, because obambi can let them fall on the sword, if they want to keep their job, they can't say anything. i guess the only job openings in the country are the green jobs czar, and the whire house social secretary's door checker position. it was reported that job was eliminated.

and Desiree Rogers walks scott free…
If anyone thinks this duo waltzed past the uniformed Secret Service on their own volition without escort there is some spectacular real estate in the Everglades we'd love to show you. These poor sods are taking the pipe because the Crook County entitlement society which currently occupies the White House won't take responsibility for their own actions.
Actually we'd have been shocked if the had. This is classic liberal bureaucrat behavior. First instinct: Lie.
Second: Blame others.
Yep, no surprises here…
I have quite a bit of training in security, both Government and Civilian, while my experience is dated, I do not see how this could have happen without at least passive inside assistance, if not active.
…they’re social climbing chuckleheads – the desperate kind whose quest for notoriety trumps productive living
Oh…was this a dinner for all of Hollywood's "Elite"?
A Confederacy of Grifters. The day the Salahis met the Obama Administration.
I still can't believe they never checked for invitations. Talk about party 101…
If you sorta disagree, does that make you only a sorta racist? This post-racial America is getting confusing.
I'm waiting for one of them to say……………"You guy's said we did it for …………..'The Show'…….."
The only thing missing here is how the Secret Service was circumvented. No way they would just let someone in who was not on the list. This just does not happen. Someone in the Obama administration let the Salahis in. Someone very high up. The Secret Service is not authorized to speak out in this matter — believe me, as a member of the military, we know we are not allowed to officially speak out. We leave the leaks to the people with stars on their collars and even then it is rare. Rather, civilians talk to the media. The discipline and law-abiding requirements of the Secret Service leaves NO room for media leaks.
So some secret service are getting a slap on the wrist as a gesture to the public, but the real blame lies with not just the Salahis, but the administration. A little behind the scenes backscratching was going on here, the purpose was to manufacture this media distraction as a form of free advertising for the Bravo channel.
Three agents are on administaive leave. That means they were given a paid vacation. As usual, there is no accountability for government workers.
Well said, dcase.
…three agents are now on administrative leave…
Are these three more jobs created, or three more jobs saved?
…Sorry, one more time. I know Barack HUSSEIN Homosama bin Laden is responsible for Marxism, trying to destroy our culture, bowing to the Japanese emperor and generally trying to render our country nothing but Sodom after God's wrath. But now you're saying they are also pimping themselves out for the Bravo channel?
The griffens were seriously out…er…manned. Those unicorns wouldn't stop breeding.
The "Gut" got it right.
http://www.cafepress.com/rightwingstuff
They're called "griffins" actually. Have you guys NEVER ready any fantasy novels??
Look, slick:
The WH is one of those places where NOBODY comes in without someone clearing it…someone inside the WH itself. Period.
First rule of security. Only those inside say who is in, or out…Federal, dont'cha know; all that background check stuff…
You can't take a dump in a Federal facility nowadays without someone sniffing the air for toxins: Oklahoma City, et. al. taught that.
Been in one lately? You have to check in your life at the door these days; and the WH? You're lucky to escape with your virtue intact from the exams you'll get…you have both POTUS and the VPOTUS at the same event, and NOBODY caught these airheads? In the WHITE HOUSE?
Someone might be high, but it ain't me. There is a name and a person that approved this, and it wasn't in the Secret Service; they just check the names submitted against the watch list, and do the background investigation…
The question SHOULD BE: WHO WENT AGAINST THE POLICY; AND WHY?
Couple with Private Sector Experience Breaches White House Security http://optoons.blogspot.com/2009/11/couple-with-p...
Obama Jobs Math:
Three beers + four non-existent Congressional Districts + 20 million Dollars US = six jobs; three reassigned to look for elementary school kids using the school's computer printer to counterfeit their lunch money for candy, and three new, more politically "reliable" agents to cover for WH cock-ups…

Exactly. The Pentagon friend was talking to someone in the White House, and even though she didn't get the confirmation, my guess is that person passed them thru thinking they'd be in and out and no one would notice. My guess…the Denise herself, seeing a publicity edge for the "brand Obama". These guys all took the same marketing class 101…and I think if I hear the term "brand" used to describe our Pres, country, etc. anymore I'm going to puke!
Dude I am so borrowing the "beady heat seeking eyeballs line."
Yup, they're bringing on socialism and all that destruction. Specifically the owner of CBS Jeff Inmelt is friends with B.O. and that's probably at the heart of this. Course, this is small beans compared to the economic destruction he is bringing about in pursuit of his socialist utopia.
The Main Sewer Media scum are flogging this, and Tiger, for all its worth. Anything to keep Climategate out of the news. Seriously, this is a non-story. Oh dear, some peasants got close to a member of the Purple. Form an investigative committee. And to think that this country was once a republic.
You're exactly right! Now the WH is refusing to allow Ms WH Social Secretary to testify…..Hmmmmmm, could it be that she scooted them right in, after all she was in contact with them for several weeks before this event. No Secret Service agent is going to put his/her butt on the line for some skanky wannabees if they weren't on the list or personally escorted by someone high up in Obamaland. PERIOD!!! Mr. Obama, your staff acted 'stupidly' and no beer summit is going to fix the damage done to these Secret Service professionals.! Shame on you!!!
I'm just in utter, slack jawed, Spielberg-reaction shot awe that we live in a Country where two knuckleheads can watch Balloon Boy vomiting in the family kitchen on MSNBC, and their natural reaction is to turn to each other and ask, "What asinine stunt can we pull, to top this?" Greg, somewhere a unicorn is dying a little bit inside..
I don't know. But I find it suspicious when you follow the trail from Bravo to NBC to GE to Immelt to Obama. And 3 secret service agents taking the hit for this. It just leaves me scratching my head.
If this was such a breach of security, why, then are these people still out walking around free, they should be in jail. The security should have had them in cuffs and tooken down town!!!!! So now the security officers are in trouble and not these people. If it would have been you or me, you know, we would be in the wh dungen, and never see the light of day again. This is all a cheraid, obummer, knows these people, but is throwing them under the bus, just like he does anyone else, when the sh!t hits the fan.
Small world…
You can bet that these two know Jeff Immelt. He is the CEO of GE which owns Bravo which is making the reality program with these two.
obama has met these two before.
These two also know Rashid Khalidi. He is a terrorist supporter of the PLO.
obama went to a party to honor Rashid Khalidi and also gave $75,000 to him thru the Arab American Action Network while he was on the Wood's Fund board .
Tareq Salahi served on the board of the Arab American Action Network <- terrorist supporters.
The LA Times is withholding the tape showing obama with the American hating, Anti Semites. They had the tape prior to the election.
obamas best friends William Ayers, Bernadine Dohrn are terrorists – murderers of 5 people, wounding dozens more.
William Ayers was on the same Wood's Fund board as obama.
The secret service did not let that couple "slip" thru. They were ordered to let them in by obama.
Don't forget the 747 that buzzed New York and obama saying he knew nothing about it. I bet he had his terrorist friends on board.
It's funny how with enough time, things become a little bit clearer. OR – things become muddier and even more questions arise.
Whether or not this ends up being tied to buzz creation about some network or show, the bigger issue IS where is the security lapse. As others have said here, the Secret Service did their job. Someone let these dorks through, and pinned the blame on the ones they knew who would do the stand up thing. This news report says nothing about who the real gate keeper was, and everything just short of placing the blame on the WH. I only hope and pray that the truth is broken open soon. Not that I want to hurt the administration, I just want someone who should be held to account, to be actually held to account. And I don't think that belongs to the men in black.

Are you talking about the Obamas?
Methinks you're not too far from correct, sir.
Obama, you just threw the wrong bodies under that bus. You clueless moron – just because you got away with throwing granny, Rev. Wright and Louis Caldera under the wheels, you think you can just throw anyone under them? Not so. A dying old woman, a racist minister and an incompetent underling named Caldera are one thing – but Secret Service is another thing entirely. This gets military, this gets official – this gets frigging dangerous. You just stabbed in the back the people who are supposed to cover your back. Dumb move, you stupid community organizer.
Greg, cmon: “Easy-Bake oven” hair
Her whole look screams " the devil wears gaga". They didn't think she was just sort of "out of place"???
So the White House has less security than say, the Bellingham, WA airport? No, this was an "insider job" by a "good ole boy" – You Americans! You funny! Why yes, I am a foreigner. One of those seeming few ones who do like and respect America – well except for the Electoral College, that's just weird; but I freely I admit don't NOW understand it after the democratic(D) fairness changes – do you? Anyone want us to come and burn the White House, again? Worked out great the last time.
I'm not sure openly admitting to being a fantasy reader is a positive….
However, you're quite right. It is "griffin".
I'm likely in the minority here, but I don't think the Salahi's should be charged with a thing. Technically it was the fault of security. It just so happens there was no real harm done here, but what might happen is they pay a little better attention next time. Or… and here's the wonky conspiracy theory thought for the day: are they deliberately -not- paying attention? Hmm.
Since we're all adults here, I won't patronize you in describing the minute details that are adhered to in order to gain access to the White House.
I'm of the opinion that Obama was fine with this couple attending (maybe as long as some cash was "donated"). Secret Service members do NOT jeopardize their careers to let in an "honest couple."
I worked at the Kennedy Center Honors for a few years as an escort. Once the President is in his seat, the SS checks everyone coming backstage. This includes all talent (it was during the Bush years, so H-wood talent got a little extra eye-balling). Even though I had been introduced to the agents, I had to go through the same process of emptying my pockets, removing my walkie, and getting wanded. This was every time I brought a talent or group to backstage. I can only imagine what it's like at the WH.
As others have posted above, these two fame-whores had inside help.
That sounds paranoid, but true… O_O
THE FALL GUYS HAVE FALLEN………, the Commander in Chief is still smiling, he got away with another one of those "Photo ops", with his uninvited, secretly invited guests!!!!!!!!!!! If he didn't know them, with those foreign sounding names, he sure would not have been grinning so profusely while shaking hands, it appears to me he was in on the gig!!!!! Ok then…he might have felt at home with the foreign sounding names, but the rest is surely at least debatable!!!!!!!
Hell, give them an IPOD with all of Obama's speeches on it.
Why is Mrs Sahali massaging Obama's hand with both of hers in the picture?
You do realize that after their "paid vacation" is over, their careers as Secret Service agents will also be over, and their opportunities to get any position in any kind of law enforcement will be over. These agents eat/sleep/drink/breathe this kind of work. Their entire career ambition is to get into the Secret Service.
Actually, I'm quite sure it is "gryphon"
I'm pretty sure he was referring to Merv, et al.
Spend 10 minutes doing searches at google.
i'm pretty proud of the fact that i can honestly answer: "no"
Well said.
good Lord. now that the kids are in charge, you can crash a state dinner with the old standby: "We're with the band."
He's with an "i" as well, actually. ;-D
You must be…foreign!
Oh, I don't know. In the picture there's some little old guy wearing a turban…
Join us. We can spell.
If you're going to burn anything in DC, please do it on a Saturday when I'm not at work. My commute sucks badly enough as it is.
I think that's the hobbit spelling.
and we have cookies.
indeed, but just cause one sounds paranoid doesn't mean someone is not really out to get you.
Never tried drying my hair with an Easy-Bake oven. Sounds rather risky; kind of like one of those "hold-my-beer-and-watch-this" moments
"if you disagree you are a racist." that was great. and a great and right on story. I have not heard why they are not being sited for a crime that is amazing
Fortune telling…
Right on Brah. My thoughts too.
"The secret service did not let that couple "slip" thru." If the world just applied the smell test would these hyper-liberal kool-aid'ers ever get off the starting line?
Hah! These 'social climbers (The Sahlahis)/ wanna be trend setters' won't need a Little Giant Ladder to gain access to the current designated White House and 'political elite' …maybe not even a 'step stool'. They are sooooooooo ordinary, just like the ' The Occupants' hosting the events.
Are they part of The Occupant's 'No Scammer Left Behind' program?
Sorta racist?
Is that like be sorta pregnant?
No reason to check for invitations when you have some one on the White House staff saying "let them in or I'll have you fired."
Doesn't leave my head in need of scratching (my dandruff does that).
The only difference between this and balloon boy is who ever works at the White House who ordered the secret service to let them in.
Just another case of modern liberals, closing ranks to protect one of their own, at the expense of the innocent.
Do you honestly believe three secret service agents, who've dedicated their very lives to protecting the President are simply going to say "The hell with procedures, come on in."?
This one just doesn't pass the smell test. I don't know who the agents are who let this pair in, but unless it was their first day on the job — which I doubt — no secret service agent would let the Pope in unless his name was on the list. So wa there a list? If not, then why should they NOT let the couple in. My guess is that someone in the Obamawama Administration TOLD them to admit this scuzzy pair, then, when the brown material hit the fan, stepped back and let the agents fall on their swords. Because the Secret Service IS the Secret Service, they cannot and will not defend themselves. Nope, there's more to this than meets the eye. Don't look for the propaganda media to try to ferret it out either. They'll glory in the agents being in administrative leave.
When I read that this pair are "social climbers", I have to chuckle. How low does one have to be on the social totem pole to "climb" up to the Obamas' level — I mean these are the dudes who bow to Saudis, Chinese pms, Japanese emperors, who are so clueless as not to know not to glad hand or paw the queen, who have buddiied up with terrorists (Ayers) and convicts (Rezko or howeveryouspellit). In short, the Obamas make the Clintons look classy and that takes some doing.
The reason for the electoral college is quite simply, the founding father's did not trust the average voter with the power to elect the president.
Also it was a bone they tossed to the states. When the constitutional convention was held, the delegates weren't appointed delegates of the states, but rather the founding fathers and community leaders of their times, who recognized under the articles of confederation, America was destined to break up into regional factions, likely to make war on each other.
So after they wrote the constitution, the delegates had to go back to their state governments and convince them to accept their proposals. That's also why Senators were originally selected by the state legislators.
They wanted the state governments to not view the new federal government has superior to them, but rather an extension, severely limited in its reach and authority.
The backscratching continues. Obama and his ilk are dangerous.
they may or may not have been in on it; the BRAVO connection is curious- either way, they are running the White House like a tony Hyde Park
coffee klatsch. This has Desiree Rogers' all over it, and she is being sheltered by 'executive privilege' while the beat cops take it in the shorts…
it is truly amatuer hour in Washington. And when you consider their ideological mindset it makes that FAR worse…
That's the new definition of "transparency."
Dennis Miller's line the other night on this cracked me up, "At least Obama didn't bow to them."
I refuse to hide my geek light under a bushel!
Agree completely. I've seen the secret service in action before. No one gets near the President with out approval.
These people were let in in order to generate fake PR for their upcoming show. The White House was in on it, no doubt.
Immelt, President of NBC – which owns BRAVO – which has these miscreants under contract was at the party too. Considering the cozy relationship between Obama and NBC, it doesn't take much imagination to connect the dots.
I agree, they committed no crime. But I don't for a second think they "slipped" by the secret service.
Some one from the administration let them in. And at the very least that person should be made public to restore the reputations of the agents who took the fall in order to not expose what really is going on in the White House.
Yep.
There goes my Coca-Cola again…
I need to get one of those "computer protectors" like the car-parts store uses over their systems…
Milking the money out…
Brilliant! +1!
Your guess about an insider letting them in is absolutely correct, as well as the Pope thing…no one is trusted…
Think about it: if you REALLY want to get to someone, what works better? Some random element off the street, or "the trusted adviser"?
you may continue to hear the 'brand' thing- but it is a laughable brand to be sure…
Why are we still talking about these people? They clearly had some contacts within the White House, regardless of an invite. They got the thorough once-over by the Secret Service. No harm done. But what we are really overlooking is how bad they were dressed. Two hours in hair and makeup and that was the best they could do? That stringy bleached hair and too-snug tux? This is just promotion for Bravo. Whatever. I do hope the Secret Service guys aren't penalized, because those guys are awesome. Last year, a SS guy intervened in a fight between rival gangs in a food court at a local mall. He was shot in the leg, but returned fire and shot the assailant 3 times in the stomach. Let's have a post featuring how incredible these folks are, better yet, a show – The REAL Bad-asses of Washington, D.C. But that will never happen, they're too busy doing something purposeful and significant with their lives.
It is obscene that ss agents are being punished for this. (what do you want to bet they are white?) These people HAD to have had someone give permission for them to be admitted, the ss wouldn't have done it if they weren't on the list of approved guests.
and not just anybody on the WH staff. Someone with the authority to make such a threat. there are only a handful with that level of power.
Their attendance was not a mistake by the ss. It was an outright approval by a senior member of the WH staff – the only ones in a position to tell the SS to IGNORE security protocol. But since the won is nothing by consistent in throwing people under the bus, and shifting blame, the secret service are the ones he's designated to take the fall. Hope he remembers that when there is a REAL security breach and his life is in their hands.
And funny how suddenly 'executive authority,' and 'separation of powers' seem like pretty good ideas to the most transparent administration in history.
Funny how that seems to happen when the party of loyal opposition assumes power.
ACTUALLY… yes.
"We didn't check our email…"
Dude… that excuse doesn't even work in COLLEGE.
The 3 Secret Service employees who were put on administrative leave were not agents, they were in fact Uniform Division. There is a very clear distinction between the two divisions of the Secret Service.
Sending you an E-Coke to virtually make up for the one lost.
