Daily Gut: Where are Roland Emmerich’s Balls?
by Greg GutfeldSo Roland Emmerich’s new movie is called “2012,” but it should be titled “Dude, Where’s my Balls.”
In the flick, the director enlists every CGI trick in the book to destroy various religious icons– including the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s Basilica and the Christ the Redeemer statue. And for those of you who worship at the altar of Obama, the White House gets nailed as well.
But there was one thing missing among the carnage: an Islamic target.
Emmerich at his London home.
According to Sci Fi Wire, by way of Cinematical.com, this was no accident. In an interview, the director said he hoped to destroy the Kaaba, an Islamic holy site, but his fellow screenwriter Harald Kloser persuaded him not to.
Here’s what the hack had to say about crushing the Kaaba:
“Well, I wanted to do that… but my co-writer Harald said I will not have a fatwa on my head because of a movie. And he was right. … We have to all … in the Western world … think about this. You can actually … let … Christian symbols fall apart, but if you would do this with [an] Arab symbol, you would have … a fatwa, and that sounds a little bit like what the state of this world is. So it’s just something which I kind of didn’t [think] was [an] important element anyway in the film, so I kind of left it out.”
And so, he echoes what I said nearly two years ago on this show: Hollywood screws with Christians because Christians don’t behead people. But tweak Islam, and you could end up like director Theo van Gogh – dead on a street with a flag impaled on your chest. Roland picks the safe target because he’d rather live, and by “live,” I mean “beat our brains to death with yet more effects-laden dreck.” As my guinea pig, Captain Whiskers might say, “All hail the dependable cowardice of our film industry!”
He might say that, if he could talk.
Anyway, the difference between good and evil is pretty clear. Good people might annoy you about having prayer in schools; evil people throw acid in girls’ faces if they wish to go to school. Trashing the former, while ignoring the latter – proves that Roland has the gonads of a shrimp.
(Note: I haven’t actually seen gonads on a shrimp, but I imagine they’re really small.)

His balls? This is not a ballsy movie — it's disaster porn. I absolutely would not want to die for this movie, and I can't fault anyone else for feeling the same way.

We need to exposed these losers on film so the world will know they are mad. We can make feature, documentaries, find out who their patron saints are and exposed them.

Because in reality if he'd done it, we might very well have known where his balls would be: removed with a sacred knife and stuffed in one of his orifices. It's a small victory, but admitting you're a coward is at least a little bit more brave than hiding it.

There's no point in inflaming Islamic radicals if your own government won't protect you against them. If the flying Imams in Minnesota could do everything but pull out box cutters and still win a huge settlement from the airline that suspended them, if Muslim men in America are increasingly free to run over their Westernized daughters or stab them or shoot them to death, if the government that we pay our tax dollars to won't stand up and protect you, what's a film maker to do?

Puss. First this, and now Moohammid gets a $150 million dollar biopic, where they never actually show him… does any of this make any sense whatsoever. I know why they do it, I just dont understand. Why coddle a religion who threatens your life if you name a teddy bear Moohammid, or draw a cartoon of him with a bomb in his turbin, or speak out about radical Islam taking over your country (Go Geert Wilders). You should battle back and stand up to this threat. Practitioners of the "religion of peace" only understand power, and pussing out with this much gusto does not display it very well.

You know what they think of women, they believe they should not be seen or heard unless its from 300 lashes across there back. When the media wants to get a reaction from the American Muslims they go to groups headed by women. They will appologize for the crime, murder or whatever and say they disapprove as all good American Muslims do then rush to get home before the husband "accidently" beheads their daughter. Let's see, Emmerich, with his history of crappy movies that have zero basis in rational thought (Independence Day, Day After Tomorrow, 10,000 BC yes even The Patriot, which I wanted so much to like, but can't) doesn't have the balls to be an equal opportunity ass towards organized religion in yet another crappy movie that misrepresents and yet honors a culture that practiced human sacrifice and cannibalism. The only thing that would complete his caricature of nutjob auteur hack and demonstrate everything that is wrong with Hollywood is if he, thinking it would be a ironically clever hoot, adorned one of his multiple homes with communist mass murderer statues and posed in front a picture of Mao in his London home. I rather liked Independence Day, but let's face it, it was a remake of George Pal's War of the Worlds (except for the computer virus dumbness). 10,000 BC had dialog of such low quality that it reminded me of early 60s sword and sandal epics where no one spoke in contractions.
Now, about bravery. Artists don't have to be brave. Bravery takes doing something new and daring without tax dollars being involved. It also takes being able to stand up to thugs, especially when you can afford enough body guards to make you look more courageous than you really are.

I was going to go see that movie (only because I like disaster movies)… but now that I know he is not an equal opportunity destroyer then I will not spend $9.50 for his movies (and I have seen quite a few of them too…)
I can't blame him. The fact of the matter is that anyone who does mock, insult or portray Islam negatively (in the public sphere, not here on the anonymous Internet) is incredibly brave. They are the exceptions. I have trouble believing many people here would ever do that publicly. People like Geert Wilders, Kurt Westergard and Theo Van Gogh have sacrificed their freedom or lives for their criticisms. They are to be commended for it, but I wouldn't condemn those who don't. Who here can say they have done the same? Who here can honestly say that they would do these things?

Let's see the logic here…..destroy Christian symbols because Christians will not do anything about it (only complain about the blasphemy of it and haters/bigots like Emmerich really don't give a hoot about that)…but don't destroy an islamic symbol because those who practice "the religion of peace" might start bombing movie theaters worldwide. Instead of worrying so much about the muslim reaction to his stupid little movie, Emmerich should be worried about being left behind to deal with the true Tribulation in case it should occur sooner than later.

Sorry, but I can't get terribly upset about this. I'm pretty confident that 2012 will be a horrible movie because in every trailer I've seen all we get is ostentatious CGI effects and running/falling/driving people who yell silly things. I've labeled this movie as "CGI Jumps the Shark." I think the implication is pretty clear that the entire world gets destroyed except for the arks. For someone who dislikes organized religion, it seems that Emmerich unintentionally left in a major Biblical reference. If the ships can save people by being tough enough to ride out the storm, how is that not a play on Noah's Ark?

Actually "Christians" don't have any "holy sites." "Roman Catholics" do. Lots of them. Big difference. The holy city of Jerusalem is as close as what you call "Christians" have as a place of veneration.

Yah – isn't this is the guy that also directed that CGI-laden waste of celluloid, The Day after Tomorrow? You know, that climate-disaster movie that showed the G.W. Bush-like President frozen like a giant popsicle in the Oval Office? Yeah, that's right – I thought so. So now he's coming out with another disaster movie where various Catholic sites are destroyed by the catastrophe fortold by the Mayans but no Muslim sites are destroyed because he's afraid of having a fatwa declared on his @$$. Give him points for honesty, but the bigger problem is that the movie trailer left me completely indifferent. Yeah, CGI stuff and models get destroyed. So what? Where is the sense of tragedy, of millions dying and a great civilization being destroyed? The extended scenes I have watched play it basically for laughs. I guess we have it coming. The movie is, as a previous commenter said, disaster porn. The trailer at least makes "Independence Day" look mature. And blowing up the Kaaba wouldn´t make ice cream out of what smells like a turd to me.

No, that's an Evangelical Protestant myth. Christianity, which Catholicism IS and Protestantism ISN'T, has been around since the early 30's AD. (Acts of the Apostles documents this.)

Oh get out. Much of Hollywood is secular Humanist and atheist. Many of them wouldn't know their Gospels from their Apocalypse, or the Holy Torah from the Mishnah. They don't believe in God or live as if He didn't exist at all.
