by Greg GutfeldSo Roman Polanski is in hot water, again – but this time it`s not at Jack Nicholson`s house. Instead, he`s in a Swiss jail, and Hollywood is desperately trying to come to his rescue. Woody Allen, Debra Winger and Whoopi Goldberg, among others, have come to his defense – in what can only be described as brave acts of selective anti-feminism.
What is a selective anti-feminist? It is a feminist who turns a blind eye to sexual abuse if it`s done by someone who shares their assumptions about the world (like a creepy film director or a left wing politician with a penchant for opening his front door without his pants on).
In other words, they`re “chickenhawk rapists.”
You must remember, during the Bush years, how places like the Huffington Post would call anyone a “chickenhawk” who strongly supported the Iraq war without ever seeing combat. How funny is it, now, that the Huffington Post is saturated with columns supporting Polanski – by people who I assume have never had their underage daughters sodomized by a ghoulish director in a hot tub. And that’s a chickenhawk rapist: a person who supports a scumbag, without actually experiencing the brutality caused by that scumbag.
Surely some of these sympathetic directors and actors must have a teenage daughter. So, to prove their belief that Roman is a truly gentle man exempt from stupid American ideals of justice, these supporters should feel confident enough to leave their daughter alone with the man, in a hot tub.
The upside is, Roman is in his seventies now, so maybe this time the girl will have a fighting chance.

Ya know, I've been thinking about this. After reading the details of what happened that night, this would have been rape whether she was 13 or 30. Damn, those chicken hawks better start sweating. I swear, I have NEVER seen such an instantaneous reaction of the public against these chicken hawks as I am seeing now in this Polanski case. It doesn't matter if you're liberal or conservative – ALL of the public is appalled at the chicken hawk's support of a child rapist. I log onto Nikki Finke's Hollywood post where she bloviates in support of Polanski and all her readers are ripping her a new one for her support. I log onto Washington Post where Anne Applebaum sobs in support of Polanski and all her readers are asking if her head is screwed on right. And then I read where Arianna Huffington is being attacked her readers as well for her support of Polanski. The liberal sites are all getting ripped a new one, so it's not just us conservatives that aghast.
Man, them chicken hawks had been better damned careful. They remind me of that old frontier legend where a hawk would swoop down to a lake to sink its claws into what it thought was a small fish – only too late to realize that it'd sunk its claws into the back of a fish the size of a whale. The big fish would sink beneath the waves, taking the screaming hawk with it. Yo, chicken hawks – you've sunk your claws into the wrong rotted fish and you are going down!

He can always pal around with celebrated Hollywood director Victor Salva who raped a 12-year-old boy during the making of a movie. Salva still gets to work in Hollywood.
Some feminists main issue is equal pay for equal work. Others argue against the "glass ceiling" at most corporations that limit the vertical travel of professional women. Claiming that being a feminist is "really about abortion" is not appropriate. Women's privacy and control of their own bodies is a serious issue to be sure but it isn't the whole reason for the feminist movement.
And I disagree with a lot of their positions too. There are many valid reasons why women don't (and shouldn't) make as much as men.
You know, as a woman, this is the way I feel: women who are equally skilled have been there equally as long, and are doing equal work to that of a male co-worker should be receving the same amount of pay; laws against sexual harassment and other forms of sexual and physical abuse are wonderful; and anything beyond that that people label as feminism is basically a load of crap. Feminists are, on the whole, completely psycho and they do far more to harm women than any man who chooses to call me "sweetheart."
Perhaps many of those who signed the petition for Polanski believe they have authority to speak on the issue because they too have molested minors. (That was your signature, wasn't it Mr. Allen? I'm having a hard time reading your handwriting.)
Director Victor Salva raped a 12-year-old boy (an actor in one of his movies) and he has continued to have a very successful career as a Hollywood director. Wonder how many stars would leave him alone with their 12-year-old boys?

I'm getting nervous with all this anti-hawk talk, but I guess it comes with the territory. California changed its "statutory rape" charge many years ago to recognize the danger of wholly-arbitrary rules. In California, a male who turned eighteen yesterday cannot be charged with "statutory rape" for having consensual sex with a seventeen year old girl today who will turn eighteen tomorrow. So the disparity in ages is also taken into account. BUT, the legislature never, never considered reducing the severity of the charge of rape when the man is 40+ and the girl is 13. There is absolutely no consideration of "consent." Add in drugs and alcohol, and the issue of consent disappears, even between adults. The plea-bargain reducing the charge from rape and sodomy to "unlawful sexual contact with a minor" was a reprehensible gift to Polanski. And he didn't even want to pay the price for that.

As a woman, I have seldom felt that feminism has really represented the equal pay for equal work issue. How often do you hear that issue brought up in a large scale protest? Sounds like a b.s. argument to me.
I think saying feminism is about abortion is totally appropriate. Sarah Palin has been demonized beyond belief …why? Because she's a successful woman who also happens to be a mother? No way. I have two daughters (in their 20s now) and the casual way in which these celebrities dismiss an act that would have any dad headed to get his horsewhip and his gun sickens me to my core.
Hollywood's failure to read the public's pulse has resulted in big losses over the last few years. This issue might be the one that breaks the industry. I'm not in the mood to buy ducats for a Weinstein offering right now and I bet I'm not alone.
How is claiming feminism is about abortion "not appropriate?" I remember when Bill Clinton was in his mess over the Lewinsky affair and so-called feminists like Nina Burleigh (famous for saying that women should get out their presidential knee-pads so they could say "thank you" to Clinton for keeping abortion legal) and Betty Friedan blatantly said that we should leave Clinton alone because he championed a woman's right to an abortion. I could go on and on and it would be easy, very easy to find examples after example of feminist leaders overlooking grotesque behavior toward women if the source was a supporter of abortion. Playboy printed an article in which conservative women were the target and a list was made in which they were rated based on who the author wanted to "hate f*ck." Not a whisper from the feminist crew. Palin has been pilloried because she's pro-life. I never hear anything about her political stances on anything– I only hear personal attacks. Why? Because she's a successful woman who paved the way for other women who strive for a career in politics? Shouldn't feminists love her? Does the feminist left ever say anything when a fresh wave on insults regarding her or her family hits? Of course not. Where was the feminist outcry over Acorn and the way it was apparently condoning underage prostitution? Where is their outcry over Polanski's rape of a 13-year-old? I can think of two issues I regularly see feminist groups holding up signs over– the war in Iraq (now Afghanistan) and abortion. I really never see or hear anything about equal pay….

I agree with a previous poster, the so called 'feminists' are really showing their true colors. They really are an embarassment to real women. They do absolutely nothing to protect women in the slave trade, they don't speak out about the rights and protecion of victims of hollywierd rape. And they certainly couldn't care less that young women are victimized by the 'liberal abortion laws' .. when an underage girl goes into a clinic for an abortion… neither the father of the baby needs to be identified (most likely because he is going to be an older adult male … and you know what that means) nor do the parents have to be notified (but please don't let your daughers accidently bring an asprin to school… for that there is a zero tolerance policy).
The craziness is really too much to take sometimes.
On the bright side, people are really begining to realize the out of touch world these celebrities live in ..how sad that we collectively have supported them thru our movie patronage (I will definately choose where I spend my money more closely in the future).

I learned all I ever needed to know about American "feminists" last fall after Sarah Palin was nominated. I had never seen a politician so brutalized by the media precisely because she was a woman. To make it worse, not only did American "feminists" fail to defend her against sexist attacks, they participated in them.
I will never forget how excited my wife (life-long Democrat) was when Palin was nominated. This was a woman that had blazed the path my wife wanted to follow. By the time the election was over, my wife had become completely disenfranchised with "feminists" and "liberals".
Feminism may have been about the glass ceiling. But, when an American woman had an opportunity to break through that ceiling last fall, the "feminists" were more concerned about defending their blessed abortion rights than truly advancing the cause of women.

@SQT – It's not appropriate because there are millions of feminists (like Catholic feminists) that are 100% opposed to abortion in all circumstances. Lumping all feminists together as "pro-abortion" or "anti-choice" is just wrong. I know it makes your arguments against feminism seem better if you can paint them all with a broad brush, but it's intellectually and morally dishonest. Millions and millions of women that oppose abortion think that women deserve equal rights, equal pay for equal work, and fight for the glass ceiling to be abolished.
