Daily Gut: The New Gitmo Is the Old Gitmo
by Greg GutfeldSo President Obama finally figured out what to do with those detainees at Gitmo, and it only cost $12 million per captive. That’s right: we’re sending those 17 Chinese Muslim terror suspects currently at Gitmo to a place called Palau, in exchange for 200 million bucks in aid.
FYI: Palau is a little island somewhere near the Philippines, with a population of about 20,000 people. It was also the site for “Survivor,” twice – so it’s obviously familiar with housing no-good, belligerent ass-hats.
So let me get this straight: Obama’s solution for fulfilling his promise to dismantle a prison camp in a foreign land… is to replace it with another prison camp in a foreign land.
Truly, this is change we can believe in.
And this is what happens when you make a campaign promise without any actual plan behind it. You’re left with whatever you had before, except of course, it now costs us $200 million. It really makes you wonder what the Messiah has planned for health care reform. Well, we already know. It will be no better – most likely worse – and it will costs more money they we can possibly imagine, or even afford.
And that’s what really pisses me off. If I had known what Obama was willing to pay to house these folks, I would have immediately volunteered my basement, which could easily take at least a dozen of these detainees. True, it would be a little tight, but that’s why I have all those double bunk beds. They can sleep four up and four across, with each person’s belly serving as another inmate’s pillow.
It’s kind of like a bed and breakfast, if by “breakfast” you mean “ball gag.”

Well, I'll give him credit for one thing. It's one helluva swim from Palau to, well, anywhere. But it does seem like an awfully expensive way to set up a terrorist tourist spot. Maybe we can send his health care plan to Palau too. That would be worth the price of the foreign aid.
I still say that we should make each Congressman who votes to close Gitmo take one home. Obama can take two, one for the White House and one as a friend for Simple Joe

Sorry Greg but you've got your facts wrong on this one. The seventeen Uighurs currently being held in GITMO are Chinese Muslims that have been cleared of any wrongdoing by the U.S. and are simply "Men without a country". These men are working as trustees at GITMO, routinely leave the prison complex on shuttle buses with off duty soldiers.
From AFP – "Four years ago US authorities cleared the Uighurs, but they have been stuck at the US-run prison in Cuba due to fears that Beijing would torture them if they returned to their homeland in northwestern China's Xinjiang region." No other country will take them for fear of pissing off the Chinese. Apparently Palau figures cash from the U.S. is worth any hassle China can throw at them.
Imagine, these guys were swept up in raids in Afghanistan when the U.S. moved in, were found innocent of anything except being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and have been in prison for over four years because no country would man up and take them. A little vacation in Palau probably sounds pretty good to them right about now.
The hell with sending the Gitmo boy's to Palau, send me!
Look it up. It's a tropical island with white sand beaches and crystal clear lagoon's. Add in some "Bikini Clad Whinnies" and it looks like the place I would love to retire too!

Obama knows, just as Hillary knew, the only way to address social security and medicare insolvency is to let the old fossils die while waiting in line to get medical treatment. It's a well-known fact that the majority of one's medical expenses are incurred in the last six months of a patient's life. Only problem is, nobody knows when those last six months occur. "Socialized" medicine makes that decision for you. Got a little cancer? We'll take care of it, won't put you through all the misery of chemotherapy. Been whacked on the head? Hummm. It's a six month wait for the CT scanner. THAT, my friends, is socialized medicine. And don't think for a minute it'll apply to the politicians writing the legislation. They'll have Harley Street physicians to take care of them — or the equivalent.

I look at it this way. Those Uighurs trained with Al Qaeda and took up arms against us. I say send 'em back to China, that's where they came from. If they get tortured and executed, and we do the same to all the other Gitmo detainees awaiting dire fates in the home countries, that's a disincentive for other terrorists, knowing they're going to buy it one way or the other.
Right now, they're looking at Miranda and Paradise Island getaways. Hell, if I were in Pakistan, I'd join Al Qaeda just for the American bennies! Where would YOU rather live, Palau or Peshawar?

Every time Obama opens his mouth taxpayer dollars fly out. His mindset is to 'buy' solutions and he is more wasteful in his spending than any president in recent history. A resolution to the Israel/Palestinian issue, we will pay big bucks for it. North Korea becomes less bellicose, Obama will have bought their cooperation. Iran will become a non issue when the Ayatollahs get their payoff. Peace in Afghanistan, bought with American tax dollars if it ever happens. When you read in the paper about any issue where negotiations and compromise are required, eg, health care, bailouts, stimulus, it doesn't matter, the American taxpayer bought Obama's victory. Pay to play is alive and well in your White House.

Because Caitlin, Palau is the middle of sensitive negotiations for military options in their water and on their land in exchange for dollars and resources from the United States. The agreement is up for renegotiation this year and has nothing to do with the Chinese Uighurs. Folks need to understand a little more about Palau, our relationship with the nation, and how much they've given back to our nation in terms of blood and sweat.
