Daily Gut: You Win, I’m Racist!
by Greg GutfeldAnd so within hours of posting my Gregalogue, a bilious blogger did what bilious bloggers do best: call me a racist. Which is awesome, because it proves my point. In the world of racial politics, all you have to do is call someone a racist, and you win!
Game over.
And now, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs is pretty much doing the same thing preemptively, telling critics of Judge Sonia Sotomayor to watch what they say when it comes to her confirmation hearing. This is amazing, only because there was no need to say it at all.
Everyone’s already on their tippy toes. Look at the media who swallowed the “the first Latina ever” story as the only the story worth reporting. And check out some of the wimpier columnists, who would rather roll over on their damp mattresses than fight against the joys of “empathy.” Here’s a hint: when someone thanks you for your willingness to comply, they’re really grateful for your wussiness.
For fun, imagine if Marlin Fitzwater had told the liberal media to watch their words during the confirmation of Thomas – another Supreme Court nominee with an “inspirational” story and a nonwhite skin color. Would that have stopped the pitchforks? Uh, no.
Hell, do any of you remember Judge Robert Bork – a brilliant man so vilified because he didn’t fit the liberal mold – that his last name became a verb for political lynching?
I do. Which is why I think raising a little hell over Sotomayor seems like a fun way to spend the summer.
But then again, I may just do sudoku.

the sooner everyone is aware that the concept of 'racism' is a Marxist construct meant to divide people and silence debate the better off everyone will be. All of these bromides, be it racism, or sexism, or homophobia is just communist blather. So, what to do? Ignore it, and press on. Understand that being a 'nice person' will net you exactly nothing with this crowd.
Mr Gutfeld, be proud…
Good post, Gutfeld, but I think that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not compose a better post than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.
dcase, are you suggesting that, prior to Karl Marx, there was no racism? Or, perhaps subtly different, that before Karl Marx… people were not divided by race? Hmmm… that seems pretty difficult to back up!
Thomas is the ultimate trump card. You should have your producers dig up video clips of many of the MSM douches attacking Thomas freely and refusing to talk about his "life story," while behaving like whimpering sycophants at Obama's orders.
Oh yeah, the show is getting better and better. You have my eternal gratitude for getting S.E. Cupp on TV on a weekly basis.
On that same token, there's the video clips of Republican's eating up all of Alito's son-of-immigrants "life story" stuff on why he'd make a good justice.
how true!
What about the inspiring story of Dwayne Elizondo "Mountain Dew" Herbert Camacho? He overcame so much and rose above his humble origins.
This whole habit of yelling "racist" to shut down discussion is really trivializing REAL racism. I swear, 90% of people who use the word don't even know what it means.
Me too!
I don't care about their "story". I only care that they fairly and accurately interpret the constitution. Nothing more and nothing less.
As for the racism angle. That card has been dealt so many times that it is threadbare and transparent.
This is just… wow. Just wow, man.
Karl Marx: father of racism. Who knew?
Duh.
The point is that over the past 100 years, Marxists have been the most cunning and insidious at playing the race card, stoking race hatred, etc. under the guise of social justice, to further their overarching goals of authoritarian control over people's behaviors and centralized control over commercial society.
(E.g. To the point of actively shaming nonwhites when they make efforts to be successful in commercial society. See under Cornell West)
The white house is warning us not to get uppity. Know your place! This woman is a higher caste than you and criticizing her is taboo.
That's good, CgntvDssdnt….are you suggesting that Marx didn't come up with the concept of racism to divide and conquer people of like mind. Sounds like you're the racist and promoter of such.
You Sir, are clearly worse then Hitler.
I wonder if the women rights group who stood silently by while Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton were allowed to be savaged will now suddenly find their voice and come riding to the defense of this poor woman who is being wrongly attacked and vilified.
It seems there may be some unease among the progressives/liberals/Democrats over her stance on abortion. I can't believe she would break from her liberal leanings on this topic since she is already on record as being against gun rights.
Oh yeah RACIST!
Who is on the show tonight Greg? TiVo wants to know.
actually it's very easy to back up. Race conciousness has always been with us; and it doesn't appear to be going anywhere soon. It's racism as a class issue, and it's use as a wedge. This was first developed in the 30's and was part of the CPUSA's efforts to achieve power along with labor unions.
No one is doubting that divisions have been historically accurate. To this day most folk tend to gather with people who represent their nationality, race or even creed. It's the politicization of this that we are referring to.
Clear?
All you tools without a good story shut-the-f-up about the wiser being with the good story.
not so much Karl himself as his adherents… however, his dictum 'any means to an end' includes class 9and race) struggles to divide a populace. Learn your history…
how silly!
Sonia Sotomayor is an intellectual lightweight and a very poor jurist, who spends more time being reversed than my Dodge. She is getting ahead because she fits a quality that Hopey and this Administration enthusiastically supports: Constitution and law be damned to hell, make decisions by how you feel.
I do not care one whit about her life story. There are millions who are doing the same thing to get ahead. There are millions more now being forced to do this because of Hopey policies nowadays. Big Whoop.
She'll be put on the Court, I have no doubt. With any luck, she'll be commiserating with Ruth Buzzi Ginsberg on how superfluous they both are to the process.
And for the resident Trolls: RACIST

I invented racism
I'm pretty sure racism could be described as a class issue when EUROPEANS WERE ENSLAVING AFRICANS EN MASSE. Jesus effing Christ guys, help me out here–tell me that you don't honestly believe that "the concept of racism is a Marxist construct"–PLEASE. I want to think a little more highly of you than that.
I mean the things you're saying are prima facie racist, dudes!
The word Racist has been thrown around so much I don't even pay attention to it anymore. This along with calling anyone who is conservative Hitler and anyone who is against Gay Marriage a Homaphobe. It is like the old story the Boy Who Cried Wolf after a time nobody listens.
You mean his adherents like the generations of European slavers that preceded his birth?
Learn YOUR history, you freaking nut job!
Please tell me what makes her so wise? With a 60% overturn rate I'd say that you really can't back up that claim.
Trouble is, I fear most of our Republican leaders will take that warning to heart.
Not Sure … about that.
Good replies, CgntvDssdnt and dcase, but I think that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not compose better replies than white males like you two who haven’t lived that life.
no pal- you are dead wrong. It is you are using the racist card to stifle debate; one suspects you are a leftist as well. If you actually ever did any homework (that is, of course you actually attended a school that really teaches) you would know this to be a fact. It is a fact. Africans enslaved themselves; the Portugese and Dutch bought them from African slave masters; most slavery in the world today is conducted by people of color- so please, before you take the Lord's name in vain again, get your facts straight…
are you going to hold your breath until you turn blue?
DUDE. WOW.
You're right! I am a lefty! And I don't think I've ever been so happy to self-apply that label as I am in this moment, because it distances me from the absolutely bat$hit craziness you're spouting right now.
Just because there were Africans complicit in the slave trade doesn't mean it somehow absolves the Europeans who bought, shipped, and traded in these captured people. I know this because I went to a school that taught me something. I'm not trying to "stifle debate," either–I've got a grotesque curiosity in hearing your ideas about how racism originated with Marxism, the slave trade was entirely the fault of the African continent, &c. So, please, have at it.
Miles,
Welcome to the Political Correctness of the Right. Anyone who dares suggest that race may have something to do with anything is automatically "playing the race card" because they are a "marxist".
and what, pray tell, does that have to do with constitutional law?
see above for explanation- it is meant to stifle debate and is usually uttered by morons…
Miles (Dude, wow, etc.) said: I want to think a little more highly of you than that.
That's a patent lie, Miles. You've ignored the sound arguments and facts here, about how Marxists have insidiously exploited racial history and racial enmity for political gains, and have instead fixated on one statement (implying Marx invented racism) that everyone knows is false, to make your opponents seem disingenuous.
And, predictably, you called us racist.
You win! Game over.
It was clear he meant 'racism' as a political hammer to beat one's opponents with. Obviously, there are any number of extrodinary history examples of actual racism, but those have in fact been resolved. Does real racism still linger? Well, perhaps so, but than so does bigotry against fat people and ugly people and old people. Modern 'racism' is no worse than any of these in our modern society. Yet the socialist left continues to use it as if we were still a socieety on the verge of returning every African to a state of slavery and chomping at the bit to stuff jews into gas chambers. It is quite ludicrous.
Heck, if calling someone racist gets me elected President, or at least the Republican nomination, I'll call the whole Democratic Party a bunch of racists.
I rest my dcase.
once again dunderhead- 'racism' is a Marxist construct meant to divide people and stifle debate. We didn't make this up; it is your ideological soulmates who have practiced this tactic since the 30's. so, Wow, Dude…
No one said the slave trade was 100% the fault of the African continent. Can't you read and understand the post? Slavery is not a 'white' or 'black' issue, it is an issue of human repression that goes back 4,000 years. Communists have embraced the idea as a wedge issue- divide and conquer?
What school did you go to? Your head is full of mush; so one can only have so much time to try to inculcate you with facts- facts that you have little interest in learning because they will conflict with your philosophy. Go to the DailyKos and hang there; you'll be far more comfortable with that lot…
Huh… well then I am a racist too… I guess that just comes with the territory of not caring about the color of their skin but the content of their character (hell or their qualifications)…. What a minute that must mean their hero Martin Luther King Jr. was a racist too…. Who woulda thunk it?
Though I am more of an elitist than I am a racist, but whatever.
The ultimate trump card is Miguel Estrada. Democrats specifically singled out the fact that he was Hispanic.
The problem is that the Republican Party apparently has zero guts. Seriously, already saying they won't object to this or try to filibuster? The woman's race is irrelevant – she is completely unqualified for the job. So why won't they object?
DUDE WOW
You totally missed the point. I never saw Dcase try to absolve anyone, that was you trying to apply something that does not fit nor exists within his discussion. Racism exists in every race. WOW, some people are just not nice people (I would use harsher language but you would assume that it was intended for you & it is not). I am also going to make some historical statements (NOT absolving those that participated) 1. only white Eruopeans have outlawed the practice of slavery. 2. It is still practiced today throughout the Middle East & Africa. Now I would suggest you re-read his arguments with the understanding that he is not saying Marx invented racism but instead invented the "organized" practice of using racism to create a political scapegoat (i.e. Hitler / Judea, Milošević / Muslim, et tal). You know how it goes, blame that group to rally your group. It is truly sad that history always repeats itself.
no PC here- just facts. You guys are leftists and these are your constructs. It is only the left that embraces this nonsense… and it's getting tiresome.
That's why no one cares about your idiotic namecalling anymore.
And so it goes, straight from the Alinsky handbook. Pick a nominee who made a few off remarks, provoke fringe outrage, paint all Republicans as racists. Isolate, starve, kill.
The only way to win is to not play their game. Keep quiet, usher her in, let her expected mediocre yet erratic performance speak what it will about the one who choose her as best qualified. The opposition is exited about their plan, Gibbs has jumped at the first early signs to prod it along. Make those the only signs, show the world you are inclusive and it is not an issue, the plan of your enemy will be defeated.
Actually, it should be "what does constitutional law have to do with choosing a SCJ"? Apparently we are supposed to know all we need to know about her by her race and gender. The only legal concern for the liberals for years has been one's stand as to Roe v. Wade. So as long as she is pro-abortion and will toe the line on Roe v. Wade, there is no discussion.
we know our history nitwit. It is you who is displaying his ignorance for the world to see. You don't even know what your own people are doing.
Sad.
ah, the first openly racist nominee to the Supreme Court….Dodomayor is a clear and present danger to our way of life. I think the GOP better wake the f*** up and block her. I dont care where she is from, what she says, anyone who uses the term "white male" when describing her work has gotta go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WAKE UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! tax cheats, lobbyists, crooked senators, racists. Where does it end???? Is this life under Obama going to ruin America and 233 years of buidling the greatest country on Earth?
They are not leaders, merely taking up sapce for the moment.
I would hope that a wise white male with the richness of his experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a Latina woman who hasn't lived that life.

That was a good reply.
Got any Latino in ya? Want some? (I'm 1/4 Mexican-heritaged, thanks to Grandpa Chavez).
I think you got it backwards. Race itself is the original wedge issue. What is the easiest way – since the dawn of man – to divide people? Think about it.
DUDE. WOW.
This is so cool how all the racial guilt I might feel for being white I don't have to deal with in a responsible, grown-up manner; I just facilely project it all on to you, my political opponents, and then the guilt is lifted off my shoulders, and I am born-again righteous.
I win. Game over.
Could I get any sicker of something than the leftist mewling cries of racism to silence any criticism.
The point the poster makes is that the constant and unceasing USE of allegations of racism as a "trump card" in the card game of debate is a marxist construct.
And the reply was….you guys are racist.!!!
Priceless
Les aseguramos que actuaremos rápidamente para rectificar la situación.
I couldn't disagree more.
The Supreme Court is not a game. They have incredible influence on our country, and as we all know the Justices are appointed for life (I'm sure I'm not the only one who believes Souter timed his retirement specifically to allow a new liberal judge in his stead).
If your opponent is trying to shut you up by calling you a racist, you need to get even louder. Avoid discussion of race at all and focus on her lack of qualifications, her less-than-mediocre record, her high number of overturned rulings, her inflammatory statements, her self-professed liberalism, and the entire idea of 'empathetic judging'.
Despite the constant doom-and-gloom about Conservatism from the MSM, the country is actually majority Conservative. They just don't identify with the Republican Party, and the way to win people over is not to play meek and let the Democrats run roughshod over you.
Is this the "chill wind blowing in this nation" that Tim Robbins was talking about a few years back? I sure don't hear him complaining now.
Another racist, elitist, lawyer skank. Oh, did I say she belongs to LaRaza? Think this one doesn't have an axe to grind, think again. Let's at least have some fun with her during the confirmation (hopefully not) hearings. Maybe she'll torpedo herself and save us the trouble. Hey, that cupcake Robert Gibbs started it!
Miles,
Perhaps it would be better explained as institutional racism rather than the concept of racism being a leftist rather than Marxist tactic, and it is. Traditionally revolutions (which with the exception of the American Revolution which was a right wing revolution are traditionally leftist fare) are began by dividing people along one of two lines; ethnicity or financial class. You then convince this ethnicity or financial class that they are indeed being repressed by the other ethnicity or financial class, it's warfare of division which is and always has been a leftist tool. The right attempted to do it in the 1990s with limited success which has now backfired since individualist do not respond well to collectivist notions such as victimization.
Saying Karl Marx is the father of racism has never been said even though you seem to think it has, however to say he is a pioneer in the concept of revolution or rule by division is 100% accurate. The institutional construct of racism created by the left has kept blacks in slavery for years, you've simply given them a bigger plantation.
Whatever happened with speaking truth to power?
Like this line, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal,…" If the argument from the feminazis is correct in that females are equal to men, and can do the same jobs; then does it not ring true that a Latina woman is just equal to a white man and not necessarily better? Just wondering. I was under the impression the NOW gang was just out to prove they were mans equal.
And I have always loved this line of truth from Patrick Henry, "The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government-lest it come to dominate our lives and interests." So, if a Latina woman seems to take on an air of dominance in her governmental role; I think you would not be a racists if you objected to her rulings, and her idiotic statements suggesting you have the brain capacity of say– a talking New York Times newspaper with cut out eyeballs and tongue. And with a really odd sounding voice I might add. So, no Greg, you are not a racist.
Another truth to power moment regarding Judge (Latina) Sotomayor, is an observance of James Madison when he said in 1788, "There are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations." In these days and times, truer words have never been spoken! And most Americans are looking at Judge (Latina) Sotomayor's comments, and rulings with these ingrained principles in mind. Any objections to her does not make one a racist, but it clearly makes one a lover of our democracy and our republic. It is important to speak truth to power regardless of the consequences, and regardless of the mindless drivel coming from the media or the White House. We are Americans and are keenly aware of OUR heritage. Something I believe Judge (Latina) Sotomayor does not fully comprehend. All those degrees, and all her personal experiences have not taught her the one basic AMERICAN concept regarding the law, and that is Justice is blind. In my world, the woman has much zeal without any real knowledge and that is a very dangerous kind of human being. Be ye male or be ye female!
LOL!!!!!
No, but I eat Mexican food alot. I think Sotomeyer is too specific. I think she should have said what I know to be true – "a wise woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not compose better EVERYTHING than males." But then I am woman, hear me roar!
I'm concerned with the news that she is listed as a member of La Raza. This would be the equivalent of appointing a former klan member. La Raza is ethocentric racist hate group and should automatically disqualify her. Her statements which are clearly racial in nature as well as her remarks about the judicial branch making the law should make her easy picking. Furthermore 60% of her rulings have been overturned by appeals courts which means her interpretation of law is also flimsy. She is literally going to cruise onto the Supreme Court based on her skin color just as Obama cruised to the presidency based on his. Have the people of America really become so weak we are no longer willing to judge people based on qualifications or ability? If so we deserve what we get and what we lose.
Gut for Prez! (Damp mattresses – best phrase all week… even though I don't know what it means.)
His mom, Susan, won't let him go outside without her. So that's why you haven't heard from him.
In the case cited as being against gun rights, which actually involved nuchucks, she affirmed Heller as in the 2nd Amendment confers an individual right, but said the Amendment applies to limiting federal restrictions only, states can set further ones. Which, hard as it is to say, is fair. From at least a libertarian viewpoint, you do not want the federal government as sole arbiter of what is and is not allowed. Further restrictions beyond the federal level is the basis for countless NIMBY proposals, as well as innumerable longstanding laws and regulations. NYC decided to ban nunchucks, a 2nd Amendment issue. They can also ban graffiti, a 1st Amendment issue. Don't fall for the outrage trap that's been set.
Sadly, I fear that right now, we may not have the votes. Maybe, just maybe the over reaching will cross the tipping point and reversal can take place in 2010
Better sudoku than seppuku.
Karl Marx was an avowed racist who saw Blacks and Hispanics as subhumans. How can you possibly not have any problems with that?
No. The Concept of Race Hatred as political agitprop is a concept born from the left. Nothing more than that. Don't like it. . .I do have a black behind you could. . .
*MissQuinn*
I'd comment on this post, but being a white man I don't have the richness of experience that would entitle me to an opinion.
Explain to the crowd you are beating the puppy to death because it is rabid, not because you hate puppies. Indeed, always a winning strategy. Violin, prepare to be played. It will be a sad and tragic song, tears will flow.
i have been raising hell over her douchbaggery for a few days. just that she's connected to the word douchbag is fun enough for me…
I was a racist; BEFORE racism was cool.
I find myself taking the tack that Senior Drill took. "YOU ARE ALL EQUALLY WORTHLESS, MAGGOTS!" With seriousness, I don't see conservatives demanding that set asides be made for racial groups. Only lefties and victocrats do this. It is the left that tells me BECAUSE I am Hispanic, I will not and cannot succeed in this great country of ours. REALLY? Let's see: 2 BAs, 2 MAs, Basic Training, AIT, Jump School, RIP, JFK SO School, OCS, and the respect of my peers. Who in the hell do these trolls think they are to say a minority cannot be successful.
SUA SPONTE
Look, we all know Sotomayor is a racist, we pretty much expected that any nominee Barry came up with would be (even if they're white).
What I'm sick to death of is this BS term "Reverse Racism" … as if being racist against whites is somehow "racism in reverse" … as though racism is the provenance of white folk alone.
We know that!
I have a PhD and two master's degrees, have taught writing at the college level, am generally considered a bright fellow…
And I had to look up "bilious".
It's ridiculous as is the effectiveness of the PR department. Every news report seemed to talk verbatim of her "Amazing Life Story" like nobody's ever read about anyone ever doing well before…this itself is kinda racist thinking in my mind…how can a Hispanic Woman possibly rise to be a Federal Judge? Ridiculous and condescending to a whole group of people. That's not racist?
This whole be careful rhetoric too? I mean, really? Like some six-year-olds daring each other to cross some line at the playground. This passes for leadership?
Unbelievable.
Welcome to the straw men of the left cgntv dssdnt. No one's suggesting 'race' didn't have "something to do with anything. " But, far be it for the left to debate on the actual issue.
Racism is the new black (pun intended).
Miles:
This is just… wow. Just wow, man.
Karl Marx: father of racism. Who knew?
Are you even reading the posts? That has been rebutted already. And for the Love of Mike stop saying wow already. It is childish.
It would be racist to not critique Sotomayor on the issues, unless the left thinks she can't handle the scruntiny. She is the perfect candidate for Obama to nominate. She is the female Obama.
In the near future computers will not only have spell check but an auto-thesaurus function, you specify the maximum number of characters and repeats. We will rediscover words and phrases even the Founding Fathers considered dated.
orrect, how many conservatives dislike Clarence Thomas? And we mostly know what color he is. We don't care. He takes the Constitution the way it was written.
But Libtards, please show me where it states the federal gov controls education, healthcare, abortion, etc. I must've just missed that.
If there were no *racism* in this discussion, there'd be no "latina" in the discussion.
If there were no "sexism" in this discussion, there'd be no "female" in the discussion.
Then perhaps we'd be able to discuss her merits and faults.
Which would include the (nondescript) candidate's own racism. If any "average" person had said what this candidate said, they'd be keelhauled by the public and the press.
When a "Republican" gets scared they run to the left….seldomly to conservative values. Get em out. Specter was with 0 fundraising for the socialts yesterday.
What you fail to understand is by not fighting, you let them win. At least if you put up a fight you have a chance.
It's interesting that I have a co-worker who is a female and Puerto Rican and born and raised in New York just like the nominee. She told me that latino women are not capable of reason especially when it's an emotional issue and there are a lot of emotional issues that will come before the court. However, we can always bank on the fact that this woman will probably be an asset to the court during their recess by keeping the floors swept and the bathrooms clean. Oh, was that racist or sexist? I'm not sure anymore.
