by Greg GutfeldSo The FBI and NYPD busted a homegrown terror cell Wednesday - a group of four men who wanted to replace two Bronx synagogues with a crater.
(Thank God religion had nothing to do with it.)
It turns out that all the explosives they purchased were fake – supplied by agents pretending to be Al-Qaeda militants. Chuck Schumer called the group “relatively unsophisticated,” which I guess should make us happy.
But it pisses me off. Frankly, I don`t give a flying imam how incompetent a terrorist is. I don`t care if they couldn`t tell the difference between a Stinger and a stapler, the fact is – it`s dangerous and stupid to make light of their ultimate goals, simply because they didn’t reach them.
Chuck Schumer wasn`t doing that – thankfully, even he stressed the need for vigilance. And I admit the typical, dismissive attitude toward the threat of terror hasn`t happened just yet.
But it`s only been a day. Give it time, folks. Liberal journalists, dumbass comedians and left wing blogs have done this before. Whether it`s the group who tried to bomb Fort Dix, the creeps who wanted to decimate the Sears Tower, or that charmless shoe bomber – because all these losers fail, that`s somehow proof we`re just exaggerating the threat of militant Islam.
Sorry folks – I`d prefer not to have one of these plots be successful, and have a mall blown up, in order to prove that the terror threat is real. Especially since I`m a huge fan of Cinnabons (although that strudel goes straight to my hips.)

The DoJ does well when the violent prone come to them to buy their supplies. What's going to happen when they find a better way? The major reason these guys were caught is because they were truly incompetent and probably pretty darn lazy. Although I'm happy the innocent were protected, I consider this a fairly minor victory in a long conflict. Obama and Napolitano need to bring something new to the table.
At least the HYPD and the FBI are still doing thier jobs. I wonder how long it will be before they will have new mandates that will take resourses and methods from them that make it more difficult or impossible to continue. Janet Napalitono will want the FBI and the NYPD to start keeping track of VFW meetings.

Well the problem here is simple, getting C-4 or stinger missiles is next to impossible in the United States, this is not to say that such things could not be brought in, drugs get into the country all the time, These guys were Jail bird Muslim converts, this should be a warning as to what is going on in the prisons. Now for these guys, they should get the wire noose. But we will not do that, so Its just a question of when, rather than maybe another attack. The lawyers in court are going to have a field day with this, ACLU is already writing the brief, can you say entrapment? It would be best if and when this sort of thing gets wind of, the perks should just disapear.

W/o the "informant," I'd bet these four would never have gotten beyond talk.

African Embassy bombings, USS Cole, and WTC attack #1, all during the Clinton years.

Doubt if the people whose lives were saved would consider it a "minor" victory. The FBI & CIA always have to be a few steps ahead. All we can hope for is that obama stays out of their way. Not likely.

The very fact that they were converted in jail is just more proof, if any were needed, that moving the Gitmo detainees to any US prison is a many times bad idea. Giving hardened criminals access to a bunch of men who can convert them to a religion that will excuse all their darker urges and desires in the name of a god is just a terrible idea. Released criminal converts wouldn't have to pull of large, 9/11 style attacks in order to become a very effective a horrific force to be reckoned with on our streets. Many of the America's most ruthless street gangs were formed, recruited, and are run from behind maximum security walls.

I am just guessing, but I do not believe their resource pool comes from the head of the class here! Like you, I do not care how bright, dumb, capable or incapable these people are, the fact remains that they are in fact a clear and present danger to society and need to be dealt with accordingly … and along those lines (look up clear and present danger) they should even be dealt with Constitutionally … whether they are here legal or not. However, I do not see some long road of appeals while recruiting other undesirables and "equal-achievers" in our prison systems will help this matter any.
If there is something in your home that is dangerous, you fix it. If you can not fix it, you get rid of it immediately. Problem solved. America is still our home last time I looked.

I appreciate your points but the fact still remains that Obama and Napolitano need to bring something to the table. It's as if Obama was listening to his IPod when searching for an underpinning for his foreign policy and Aretha Franklin was up. A foreign policy designed around the premise of R-E-S-P-E-C-T will not protect the United States from the evil in this world that doesn't think like a ghetto gang member. Obama needs to broaden his horizons. Reagan's "Trust but verify" was more realistic. This was a win for the good guys but it was handed to us on a silver plate by an informant. We shouldn't become cocky.
