Daily Gut: Thank the Popping Doll
by Greg GutfeldIf you ever needed to witness torture in action, check out Nancy Pelosi`s press conference Thursday morning. She squirmed, bulged, sweated and finally even tried to back away from the podium in a desperate attempt to escape. The best part, for me, was when one of the lapdog reporters – in an obvious strategy to gain favor from the Botoxed Barracuda – asked her about health care. It’s like during Hurricane Katrina, asking Bush if the pools will remain open.
Now I was at the gym during the press conference, where they only allow CNN on the tv. There`s no Fox News – mainly because it aggravates the yoga instructor`s rosacea. On the stair climber, I had no choice but to watch Pelosi with the sound off, and her body movements said more about what she knew than words ever could. Throughout the conference, she began to resemble one of those delightful popping dolls – those latex creatures whose eyes, ears & nose pop out when you start squeezing the torso. Pelosi, in effect, was in a tight spot, and it was delight to see the press – for once – use her like a grip strengthener.
But the telling part did not come from Pelosi accusing the CIA of lying, but from CNN afterward, where some joker said the Republicans were using torture “politically,” in an attempt to make national security an issue once again.
Well, we need to remember, no one in the Republican party ever thought torture was a political issue. If anything, torture is precisely the opposite of a political issue – an act meant to save lives, not win an election. No one gains favor politically, especially in our media circles, for being a member of “the party that tortures.” It was the Dems from the start who smelled blood on this one, went after Bush, and are now paying for it. And as for returning national security to relevance – it`s about time. The fact that we need a stupid debate on torturing terrorists in order to remind everyone that there ARE TERRORISTS WHO NEED TORTURING – is the scariest thing about the current administration (and I`m including Joe`s hair plugs).
So maybe we should be thanking Nancy, after all.

Well, now that Ms. Pelosi's "torture" complicity has come to the fore, it appears that she and all the other complicit Democrats want to re-write history. Since she has publicly accused the CIA of lying, perhaps congress should hold a hearing and have her repeat the charge under oath. Oh, wouldn't that be fun? Let's get to the bottom of this as soon as possible.
You want to talk about torture? Try living in Nan's congressional district for twenty years. Waterboarding would be a relief.
I was cracking up about this lady in front of a semi-hostile media, laughing at how terrible she looks under pressure until I realized that she is literally two heartbeats away from the Presidency. I stopped cracking up after that….
I have been hoping and waiting for this ever since they decided to be "transparent" about all the goings on with Gitmo and the treatment of prisoners… Because we all know that, even though the Dem's are all showing their feigned shock and horror over the torture techniques, they were all in on it… well at least the higher ranking ones… as well… I was hoping this political witch-hunt would have caught a few doozies while they were at it…
Good Job Pelosi, your plan backfired on you… just like this lowely little commoner that I am thought it would.
Am I being naive, or does it seem really stupid to start accusing the CIA of lying? I just can't see that agency taking this lying down…. At least I hope they don't.
It was hilarious watching Botox Nancy try to weasel her way out of this one. I love the bit where she said she didn't attend a briefing, but was briefed about the briefing. I'm glad that was cleared up.
Oh, but Little Bo Pelosi was "misled" by the CIA, just like the naive and trusting Democrats were "misled" by Bush into supporting the invasion of Iraq.
It's funny how people who are supposedly vastly more intelligent than Republicans are always so easily "misled" by the very same people they claim to be idiots.
Greg, at first, I thought you wrote — "pooping dolls." I think I'm glad you didn't. That's just too much to think about with Pelosi.
LOL. This is the gubment's rendition of "Yes you did!", "No I didn't", "Yes YOU did!", "No I didn't!". Are we there yet?!? As some folks say, "Don't bring none and there won't be none." I think that was the Fresh Prinz of BelAire. I'm amazed that NaNa Pelosi hasn't learned to stop digging once she finds herself in a hole. But then again, I'm not all certain she's all together together.
The CIA ,Valerie Plame, hated George Bush, they love this administration, so let's see how this all turns out……BUUUUUUSH AND JOOOOS all their fault
I too would find waterboarding Pelosi to be a relief.
My favorite note of the day came from Hot Air… basically they had a "torture" congressional board meeting… only 5 senators showed up… and only three had any questions, and the one Republican that was there was basically ".. if this all that cares, why are we even here?"
Well I am sure that's what Pelosi did in her pants when she was asked the real questions… *lol*
Maybe they'll rendition her. Which I hear makes your hair really smooth after you've been waterboarded.
The REALLY funny thing is that the Democrats tell everyone that they are the smartest people in the room. Right up until they get caught or called on the carpet for something.
Then they turn into the dumbest folks ever, "I don't know nuthin bout that…duh…." or "Them evil republicans musta put one over on me….duh….."
Enough is enough, either Nancy Pinnochio is lying through her teeth, or she is grossly incompetant.
I choose option C……BOTH……
You mean: "Tell us what we need to print to hide this under the rug." That question?
I'll stand near and pretend I'm the "doctor". I'll eat a burrito and laugh…
Yeah that one… where she had to make something up and quick because she forgot her note cards…
My heart goes out to you brother….
Why anyone thinks the policies that have been destroying CA on every level will work in DC is beyond me.
Why would anyone expect Nancy Pelosi to tell the truth about torture?
Remember when she said: "Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology …. and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process."
-Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998
She "lied" us into war. She "lied" to us about knowing about torture. Nancy, you are a disgrace.
2010 is looking a little more promising now. Cycles, cycles, cycles!!!
Ooh can I pour the water?!
She may be a joke. But she is firmly entrenched in her congressional district. I can't imagine her getting voted out any time soon. Although that is a pleasant thought, along with waking up tomorrow and having the world realize that capitalism is what had been working and not failed over reaching socialist governments.
Don't get too excited. If the media can't find a way to turn this on Republicans they'll just bury it behind some faux crisis. I'm suspecting they'll use the closing of the auto dealerships as cover for this to protect their party.
Was she asked any real questions??
Nancy lied. . . people died.
Isn't that what she does everytime she opens her mouth?
Olbermann is already running ads for his show where he "takes the Republicans to task for trying to blame the Democrats for torture." But then I expected nothing less from that bag o' turds.
I see nothing wrong with that.
Did you hear her tell the press that her number one goal was to get as many Democrats as possible elected to Congress and the White House? I'm relieved that the Speaker of the House had so much time to spend on something as important as that rather than dealing with minor issues like national security.
And all 4 of his viewers will love it!!
Keith Olbermann looks like Beaker from the muppets……except much less impressive…..
Best.
News Conference.
Ever.
"I was fighting the Iraq war at that point, too, you know."
The FDA needs to get on the case! Clearly, botox causes severe brain damage.
Maybe, she's "misremembering". Roger Clemens has been trying that one for a while with Andy Pettitte.
This whole state is becoming torture. You might want to take a look at our RINO Governator's latest idea for saving the down-the-drain California economy. I posted it over at http://shermansmarch.blogspot.com/ I had to vent, because living in a prison sometimes seems preferable to living in San Francisco. Three hots and a cot, and once you're in lockup, you don't have to pay for it.
Maybe to her she was… Anything harder than "How was your day?" would be a "real" question to the Dems…
Yes, far be it from Nancy Pinnochio to let her job get in the way of politics!!
*spits out Dr. Pepper*… Beaker is more loveable too… and more intelligent.
Lets all bow our heads and quick prayer for the Lawhawk, well, second thought maybe he’ll need a long prayer?
It is fun to watch these elitist jerks squirm.
Gee, thanks. Now I have to go take my ulcer medication.
"There`s no Fox News – mainly because it aggravates the yoga instructor`s rosacea" You crack me up GG.
On another note, CIA lied, Truth Commissions, I hope for the sake of our country this lady wises up before this whole issue blows up in her delightful little popping doll face. (although the cat seems out of the bag)
After all, I believe she passes directly by John Boeher's office each day and he'll have a field day with her if she continues to proceed on this course.
Not good.
There is the concept of Smokey Island (Alkatraz) still out there, maybe a link with San Quentin?
It's an easy explanation. Lefties believe that if you've spent your entire life's savings on a worthless plan, you only have one option remaining–borrow against your future.
Two birds with one stone. Thanks for getting my smoking spirits back up. And the prayers will help too.
I was going to make a joke about that. . . a good one (trust me), but I have to ask:
How can you misremeber something that you are being told at the time? I understand that she is now claiming that she goofed (not lied) when she lied earliers, but her comments have been — waterboarding is evil and I would never allow it but I didn't know it was going on. Now it's shown that she did in fact know, and she thinks she can get away with, "oh, I misremembered what I was told." Did you misremember the moment you were told Nancy? Why not speak out then?
Youbeat me to it.
With a bigger vocabulary too.
If the Dems want to unload her, here is their chance.
Wrong doll, wrong valve. You have the pooping doll mixed up with Betsy Wetsy.
I didn't see the thing yet, but it sounds like Comrade Nancy needs a few teleprompter lessons for the head Comrade.
Nancy misremembered. . . people were dismembered.
I hope Boehner's up to the task.
She is Italian. It must be racism.
Here's a joke for liberals:
Dick Cheney came out on TV last week and had Obama clearly in his sites. And he hit Nancy Pelosi!
We should all expect a resurgence in hysterical swine flu stores while the MSM prays…I mean channels….or whatever it is they do….for a US-based natural disaster that they can use to divert our attention.
Hey, I'm already sweating the guy who's one heartbeat away from the presidency.
No, it's perfect. Everyone knows that the CIA lies. You gonna take their word over hers? They have black helicopters for cryin' out loud! I've seen them in countless movies. I'll bet there is a guy that looks exactly like Jon Voight there.
I watched most of the press conference on Fox (with the sound off and the captions on so I would not have to listen to her annoying voice as she tried to lie her way out of the mess she is in. I could be wrong, but I could swear I saw her sweating botox during the press interview. I'm starting to wonder if the toxins in the Botox are eating away at what's left of her mind.
They probably won't take this without firing back at the crippled S.S. Botox, but the Democratic leadership in Congress will then try to cut them off at the pursestrings or put even more onerous restrictions on their work, they way they did in the late 1970s with the Church Commission (you'd think 9/11 might make them wary of doing that, but revenge is more important than national security, especially since a good percentage of your core voting block, any maybe even a few congressional members, think 9/11 was an inside job in the first place).
The CIA's new code name for Nancy Pelosi: '2 Bullets'. I don't think the Secret Service will be working too hard on her protection in future. I also heard a rumor that she has a new pilot and copilot for her 747, a couple laid off at Colgan Air due to the business downturn after the flight 3407 crash. Part of her new jobs bailout program no doubt.
Now I was at the gym during the press conference, where they only allow CNN on the tv. There`s no Fox News – mainly because it aggravates the yoga instructor`s rosacea

That is one of the most awesome stand alone sentences EVER!
[...] and Bush administration of misleading her about waterboarding detainees in the war on terror and sharply rebutted claims she was complicit in its use. More from Yahoo: “To the contrary … we were told explicitly that waterboarding was not [...]
Oh he'll be up to it all right.
I think Dick Cheney is the one who needs to be waterboarded!
Its a simple question, dick, did you or did you not employ torture to help justify the invasion of Iraq?
LOLOLOL I TURNED IT INTO A JOKE ABOUT REPUBLICANS
Wait, first we have Nancy Grace and now Nancy Disgrace? What could possibly be next?
She doesn't even run a real campaign for reelection. I've been there and voted against her every time but was always stuck with the 8 percent who voted Republican. Green/Psycho Left parties got about 8 percent and ol' Nan got the remaining 84 percent. She can't be voted out but she can be removed as speaker.
I agree! We must get to the bottom of this waterboarding issue!! hehe
After watching Pelosi fumble her way throught that oh so uncomfortable presser this morning, I'm reminded of a sweaty Ralph Kramden doing the "hum-ah-nuh, hum-ah-nuh, hum-ah-nuh" routine only without the laugh track. Her explanation was a lot like an adulterer getting questions from the media in the lobby of a Hollywood hotel only to lock yourself inside a public restroom so as not to face the questioning……oh, never mind.
except that… its not a joke. We *really* should waterboard Dick Cheney.
Why are so many of you into torture? Very odd. Why do some think that torture and revenge will somehow yield the results you want? It's not only a childish view of things it's also something that does not work. You can make anyone admit to the crime of your choosing with torture. Torture only emboldens our enemies that much more. Kill the terrorists in the field or charge them with a crime and have a court case under the American legal system and lock them up for life in need be. But let's move out of the 16th century – where some terrorists reside and want us to follow.
You said the same thing about Bush and Cheney, right? Or did you stomach their lies a litte better?
It's San Franscisco…..
It is not water it is Perrier
I think from now on there won't be anymore enemy combatants captured…As a former military infantry soldier I would just shoot to kill any who were a perceived or immediate threat. Thus, eliminating the threat of retribution from a non-combat politcal hack…This would still fall with-in the realm of justifiable rules of battle field warfare…No need for a Gitmo like situation anymore…Thanks to the new admin for the incentive for new rules of engagement!
I still can't understand why anyone would want a truth commision for this. If Nancy is lying now, what exactly will keep her from lying under oath later? She's a fibbing little fib-face. Although I would love to see her go to prison for lying under oath. That would make my year.
Well, since as the Quote shows, Nancy Pelosi is on record as publicly stating that Saddam Hussein was definitely building weapons of mass destruction two years before Bush was President, then it must have been her that lied to him? No?
Or maybe it was Bill Clinton that lied to him? Saddam.. will be emboldened tomorrow by the knowledge that they can act with impunity, even in the face of a clear message from the United Nations Security Council and clear evidence of a weapons of mass destruction program."
Address to Joint Chiefs of Staff and Pentagon staff
February 17, 1998
Since Nancy Pelosi has proved this week that she definitely is a liar. And Bill Clinton is The Great Prevaricator, it seems more likely that the Democrats lied us into war. In other words, they supported the war before they were against it to paraphrase honest John Kerry.
Look…As a former infantry soldier it would make more sense not to take any, I mean any, prisoners from the battle field. The political ramifications are such, that it is easier to eliminate the terrorists, than to capture, detain, feed, try, defend and release the fricking son of bitc***! Let Pelosi try to explain her wishy-washy positions to a truely bi-partisan congressional investigation…The CIA will prevail…
We don't want her out! She'll be worth 30 seats to us in 2010. We need her there, making sure the left keeps overreaching. Thanks Nancy you addle-brained gift you!
You are partly correct. Democrats played this game too. And many of them voted for the war. But – depending where you stand on going to war – the war itself was initiated by the Bush Administration and pushed by them. Lots of fault to go around I say.
Fundamentally, all the important elected Democrats have a public record of making statements supporting the notion of Saddamn Hussein definitely having a program of WMD and a demonstrated willingness to use them. Yet they constantly scream that George Bush lied to us.
Now, we are on the verge of establishing a record that Key Democrats in the House and Senate knew about waterboarding as it was occurring and they made no issue of it.. Nancy Pelosi was inforrmed, and so were others.
When you get your mind around the fundamental level of dishonesty they are operating at, look up the Deficit as percentage of GDP for the last thirty years and show me where George Bush ran the "huge deficits" that they also constantly lie about.
The Democratic party at it's top level is completely a dishonest propaganda machine that has no scruples in its quest for power and desire to steal the wealth of the American people.
Why? You think she doesn't?
"Pelosi, in effect, was in a tight spot, and it was delight to see the press – for once – use her like a grip strengthener." That is the best, non-Unicorn related sentence I've read in the last 120 days. Squeeeeeze.
But, sigh…. it won't matter. The media are in the bag, two and a half branches of the government are in the bag.. this is just a ritualistic few days of grilling, to make things look fair. Even if she was caught with a bloody knife in her hand, she'd get a free pass.
Even if they did, it wouldn't hurt him.
Oh, nobody told you…
Waterboarding doesn't actually HURT anyone. Nobody's had to be carried away in pieces afterwards. No scars, no disability.
Counselor, try living in Reid's district. We have the local leeches as well as the ones that are exported from CA. Oh wait, we have the castle doctrine here. Never mind.
They are all criminals! Self important, out of touch, fascists. Anyone involved in getting this war started, keeping it going, or awarding contracts should be under investigation. They will say anything to maintain their position. Maybe a little water boarding could help them remember the truth!
They have all bowed their heads to the beast. You do not get these positions without "friends". Look at poor McCain he was a respectable politician 6 years ago. He seemed a reasonable middle of the road guy and then the GOP got a hold of him. To serve them he had to tow their conservative dogmatic line and he looked like a fool.
The Constitution has been used as a baby wipe on the ass of Capital Hill. It seems to be of little interest to Pelosi and crew how we peons feel about anything. I really don't think she or any of them believe they owe us the truth. It's all about the power/money to them. Obama has not stopped lobbyist dollars and gifts from continuing to rain down on our elected officials and I don't know how he could. They are all in "bed" with each other anyway. Capitalism does run our country successfully just through the legislative branch and not the actual free market economy.
If you go over to liberal / left blogs you can read all about how the Republicans are trying to do the same thing. Etc. No one side is more corrupt than the other. Instead, people tend to shrug off the corruption of the party they like and become openly hostile to the party they don't like. Dishonest propaganda is in heavy supply by the GOP as much as the Dems. I try to look a bit past all that and go directly to the policies each party supports and offers.
I'm a Democrat. But not because there are crooked Democrats [there are] but because I support progressive policies and the Republicans won't fit the bill.
Now, about those deficits. They do exists and Bush ran up a tab. The question is, are they really as bad as they are made out to be? I'm more concerned that we went to war in such a matter. And I do hold Democrats accountable. I didn't vote for Hillary for that reason.
I rather saw her performance as a cheap SGT Schultz.
We have a slightly different version of the Castle Doctrine here. "I like your castle. I'm gonna take your castle away from you. You gotta problem with that?" And that's just the mayor and the board of stupidvisors. The thugs don't even warn you. They know everybody is disarmed (well, not everybody, if ya get my drift).
We're reverse snobs. It's Calistoga.
Ah, LH, I cried because I live in the land of Snarlin Arlen Spector and Fast Eddie Rendell and had no shoes, and then read your post of living in Nitwit Nans district of the demented who had no feet (well, you may have millimeters though), and, verily, saw that things could be worse – for me that is, you're screwed. Someone needs to tell Nancy the voices in her head are not her friends.
I live in the land of the Unholy Trinity–Pelosi, Feinstein and Boxer. Two are based in San Francisco, the third in snooty-tooty Marin County just across the Golden Gate. Daniel in the lion's den had nothing on me. Since we've been discussing Opie and Hanks, I'm going to send them a script about it. I'm calling it "Demon, Demon and Demon." I'll substitute the Episcopalians for the Catholics so we can have a hot man-on-man sex scene in the choir loft at Grace Cathedral while they're having a Gaia worship service downstairs in the sanctuary. Very San Francisco.
This point needs to made in this whole torture debate. Opponents say "anyone will confess to any crime to get the torture to stop." This statement may be true. But the operative phrase in the statement is "confess to any crime". The terrorists were being waterboarded to elicit information, not confess to any crime. And any information that was found to be erroneous or made up would it seems, result in more waterboarding. So it would've been in the terrorist's best interest to give accurate info., if they wanted it to stop. And it appears that they understood this and gave up good intel. Once again the Left argues a non-issue rather than arguing the facts
http://shermansmarch.blogspot.com
You worry too much. Eddie, the rare not-proven-corrupt former Philly mayor, seems to be working down his Family obligations and they don't like liberal groups and their forms of shake-downs and protection rackets. He's already given us slot machine casinos to pay for social spending, soon we'll be getting video poker as well. They'll also just up the emission standards again to force even more old vehicles off the roads and reap a windfall of sales taxes and registration fees to cover a major budget shortfall. We're in no danger of getting Kalifornia-level taxes any time soon, any increases will mean less cash for gambling, even for the state lottery. If Rendell doesn't quash any major tax increase bills he'll be getting a visit from certain major campaign supporters.
Meanwhile industry is moving out and shutting down, decreasing the tax base. So he can't raise just about all taxes for more spending anyway. What's left? He just nudged the tobacco excise tax, maybe he'll try liquor as well. And who benefits from bulk selling of untaxed booze and smokes? Might not see any more state money from those increases, perhaps even less. Maybe Eddie ain't so bad after all, his Family values sure are keeping him in check.
Nobody here is "into torture," you idiot. Where have you been for nearly two weeks of discussion about torture? To start with, you are one of those wimps who thinks saying boo is torture. The definition of torture is one of the biggest issues being discussed nearly everywhere. Many decent people recoil at waterboarding, but they don't call it torture. We don't even waterboard to get confessions, let alone torture. You're the one who needs to get out of the the 16th century. This is not the Spanish Inquisition. We use enhanced interrogation to get crucial information only in situations where all evidence indicates that this person who was on a battlefield or in a war zone is a terrorist, and that he has information that would very likely help us to avert a major attack. Torture doesn't embolden our terrorist enemies, That's just a silly left wing talking point. Hatred for everything western, American, Israeli or standing for freedom is their sole motivation. Cartoons of their pedophile prophet and "torture" are their convenient excuses. They are not criminals or warriors by any definition contained in the Geneva Conventions. They are terrorist mass murderers. And if you think waterboarding only emboldens our enemies, I am first surprised that you even admit we have enemies, and second sure that you know nothing about the planned terrorist attack on the Los Angeles Library Tower. It's in Holder's report, Napolitano's report, and the CIA's report, and the information that stopped the attack was obtained by waterboarding from a terrorist who wouldn't tell anybody anything before he took the bath.
Sorry to be so late replying. It took forever for your post to reappear. The answer of course is we will be running ferries between the two locations. Departures from the Wharf and the Sausalito Landing of the red, white and blue fleet boats with the logo of the toking Indian. Every hour on the hour.
Pelosi proves what a pathetic wretch of people these democrats of today are. It's amazing how spineless they are.
Oh come one, as you noted she looks like she's about to break just from this little challenge to her "authority." If she ever did wind up as Pres and have to face off against her former "colleagues," whom even Barry hasn't been able to fully tame, in short order she'd be ranting about declaring a National State of Emergency and suspending the Constitution because Congress wouldn't create a National LGBTRZ Appreciation Day. Her own Secret Service detail would put her down to spare her and us the embarrassment.
The CIA loves whoever leaves them alone. They don't want people to know what they do, and if people did know they'd wish they didn't. If Barry and friends start butting in, there'll be a string of interesting leaks and "accidental disclosures." Gee, just how did that FBI file detailing the surveillance of a young Mr. Obama started by his Ayers' connections wind up at FOX News? We'll never know…
Well we are seeing what comes out when you squeeze her too much…
She's from San Fran, maybe she thinks all she has to do is dig deep enough and she'll strike gold.
Left Field time, maybe she'll come up with Option D, declare she has a drug problem that's affecting her memory. She could try to keep the media quiet by saying people from Hollywood celebrities to Rush have that condition, although it'd be fun to see her try to score points saying it's medical marijuana.
LOL. Who knows? Maybe she was having a ‘senior moment’. She’s 69 years old, has 5 children and 7 grandchildren. I wouldn’t be surprised if the CIA told her exactly what they were doing and she forgot it 5 minutes later. If BO wants to apologize for something he should apologize to the American people for her and the HoR.
Bah, just wait until the word of her donation for the Prop 8 campaign gets out. Her staff will deny it, say it was from someone else with the same name, the vast right-wing conspiracy was trying to discredit her by using her name, and at some point that it was supposed to have been sent to the anti-Prop 8 campaign. What, you don't believe she did that? Just call up her office and ask, then post at certain web sites that the readers should ask, then ask various MSM outlets if they're listening to the internet buzz and will ask her about responding to it…
"Try living in Nan's congressional district for twenty years."
That brings the question: why do you stay?
Objection. Asked and answered.
Next question please.
I doubt it, those closings are solely in the Democrats' hands as Barry can stop them if he wants to. Covering an old mess with a fresh mess doesn't help the stench.
"Why are so many of you into torture?"
Why are so many of you unable to understand that the we don't all agree on what is torture?
Tonight, while watching the Immunity Challenge on Survivor, I couldn't help but think:
"Would we be allowed to subject a captured Al Qaeda leader to this?"
I wonder if they'd even allow them to be run through the course on Wipeout. Now there is some prime waterboarding!
Pelosi was busy torturing her male interns (with her lectures). That’s why she can’t remember the events. Nothing sexual.
Why do you ask questions when you have already decided upon the answer?
In fact, this is nothing more than a "have you stopped beating your wife?" question, or perhaps it should be "why are so many of you into spousal abuse?" instead.
Very odd. Almost as if you need it to prop up a weak position.
There are a lot of folks that should be waterboarded – but you probably wouldn't like it. It would desensitize the issue of waterboarding being torture. Yeah, it's uncomfortable, but you don't come up with any permanent damage, electrode burns or missing digits/teeth/etc. That's the real definition of torture. Oh, and listening to any rabid Dim lecturing you about…anything.
My sentiments exactly. Sadly, this will deny our side valuable sources of information to forestall future attacks. For that you can thank our esteemed Dim colleagues. Thanks, Dims! You've all just won the "law of unintended consequences" award.
A guy that looks like Jon Voight? They have Jon Voight himself! Heh.
I give you credit for at least attempting to be even-handed, but I just don't see propaganda as a tool of the Repubulicans in the fashion of the Democrats. First, they are too inept, and secondly, they don't have control of the media. The Deficits are the perfect example, because they are factual in nature. It's a fact that you can look up. Ronald Reagan, GHWB, Bill Clinton all ran deficits that were over 6% of GDP. Junior's biggest was less than 5% of GDP (I haven't seen 2008 at this point). yet for six years I watched Democrats complain about "George Bush's Huge Deficits". I saw every major news figure echo that.
So, the paradigm of the discussion was controlled by Democrats through the media.
I do recognize that GOP bigwhigs mouth platitudes about Patriotism, Free Markets, and liberty; and echo libertarian populist rhetoric that they would never actually employ, but I don't see the systematic attempt to lie and misinform that seems to be the main methodology of the Democrats since the Age of Clinton.
Did her sweat ruin her mascara? I missed her news conference.
Blaming the CIA of lying is a big mistake on Negative Nancy's part; this will come back to haunt her…
Where is Dick Cheney in the topic of this essay? READING COMPREHENSION….
I love Jay Leno's comment last night about Speaker Pelosi. He said that for eight years, Ms. Pelosi and other Dems had been calling President Bush DUMB. Now she wants us to believe that the Bush Administration "FOOLED" her.
Ms. Pelosi, you may have been fooled in the past but the people of this great country are now seeing your true colors, Pink & Yellow.
Why are so many of you into torture? Very odd. Why do some think that torture and revenge will somehow yield the results you want?
I believe that you have it wrong, as has happened so much by the Dems over the past 8 years. It is not the "WE" are "INTO" torture. You may consider these methods to be torture, however there are those who do not. It boils down to a matter of time and opinion. And to set the record straight, these methods "DID" yield results. But then that information is contained in documents that the administration does not want released. So much for transparancy.
Not all!
Please do not forget the Reagan Democrats.
Note to all ConRep, Ken in Irvine, Patrick Chester, MikeO
1) Waterboarding is torture. Period. A Bush administration memo from 2005, intended to establish a legal basis for aggressive interrogation techniques, contains a footnote that actually describes waterboarding as falling within the administration's definition of torture. If we have to hem and haw over it then it is torture. Forget this bogus definition of what is is b.s. Once a nation embraces torture, it forfeits any claim to a moral high ground.
2) Torture did not yield results at least according to the people who did it in the CIA. Again read the literature on it written by the interrogators. The info obtained was done without torture techniques. You may have other evidence that shows otherwise – torture is still wrong and in the long run does us no good.
Good day.
Nah, earthworms and slugs are spineless creatures, who are slimy and shrivel up and die in sunshine, if they get rained on they can swell up and drown. They're also easy to step on and abuse. Pelosi and her ilk are clearly reptiles, they're normally only dangerous when attacking or being disturbed. They come out to bask in golden adulation, often ignoring rain and wet as long as they're being shined on. You practically have to immerse them while under shadow before they notice.
Which brings up another good reason to waterboard Pelosi, just to verify, too bad this should be over at Gary's article. Oh well. Hey, this could also explain her bulging eyes and why it's so hard for her to blink. Inquiring minds want to know, and liberals like to support "scientific research" over any objection based in morality. I'll go fetch my bucket.
All the usual reasons that people stay where they are. Came here for an excellent career opportunity. Made a good living. Got a great apartment with a view. Helped out while my kids grew up and went off to college, and started their own families. Developed friends and social networks, church affiliation, and for the most part stayed ahead of the disasters that the local politicians brought on. And then, suddenly, you realize that twenty years or so have passed. Inertia also plays an important part as you get older. You continue to do what you're used to doing If I were in my twenties and single I would just pick up and leave. The plan was to head out right around this time, and then the economy went into the toilet. Part of life is occasionally discovering you waited just a little too long. I have some plans, but they won't work until the economy turns around. And as they say, life is what happens while you're making other plans.
And thank you so much for not saying "that begs the question."
I don't think anyone should be forced to watch "Survivor". That's just too cruel.
I figured you knew what I meant. That's why I thanked you. Every time I hear someone misusing "begs the question," I just cringe. I even gave a mini-lecture on its use on this site awhile back. The next day one of the articles did it again. For the most part, the mini-lecture fell on deaf ears.
Scary Pelosi made a serious error in "calling out" the CIA … Be on the lookout for some serious "document drops" in the very near future.
Waterboarding save Los Angeles from a similar 9/11 attack; it also prevented other terrorist attacks around the nation.
If you believe waterboarding is torture, then you need to sue CBS, Mark Burnett, & Survivor for the same thing; heck, these contestants endure alot worse things than terrorists being forced awake, waterboarding, & loud music. The last 3 things I described are done regularly by teenagers for fun…
And just to prove our point, go to Ben Shapiro's piece today about "Lost." Not satisfied with misusing "begs the question," he says "This scene begs three questions." He should know better. His mentor was William F. Buckley–the same man who let me have it twenty plus years ago in a short piece I did for "National Review." I got a lot closer to the correct usage back then than Ben did today. I think you and I are shoveling sand against the tide. You tell him. I give up.
"You tell him. I give up."
I was happy enough just to receive your recognition.
Oh, a MEMO. With a FOOTNOTE. Gosh, that's just so definitive. A few points above "argument by assertion" but not much.
It's like that report that "proved" the U.S. military considered white phosporus to be a chemical weapon your side tried to use a few years back. Guess you learned your lessons well.
Nice try at humor about TV shows and teenagers. There is a huge difference between signing on for pain versus being imprisoned and tortured. Would you say the same thing if US soldiers were tortured in such a a manner? Would you accept someone else using the same logic toward our men and women? Maybe you are one of those who actually like torture? How odd.
The supposed LA attack is not verified. But the point is much bigger than this. Civilized countries do not torture. The information can be obtained without torture and the CIA has said as much. People will say anything when tortured and therefore it is only a barbaric practice.
It's Pelosi's job to fight terrorism AND to get Democrats elected? The last refuge of a scoundrel.
