Well I don't really care what she writes.... that's Huffpo....... let Democrats defend themselves......

Greg's point is that the vitriol against it is overblown and not helpful.

The point I am trying to make (poorly I'll admit) is that instead of getting angry with some blogger on the HuffPo why does no one address the real issue. There is not the problem with Canadian citizens on the Northern border. There is no one suggesting a fence be built. Why? Because Canada is not really below economically.

Mexico is and the problem is in large part I think do to the policy of lookin the other way when employers hired illegals. Now the dems are trying to turn them into another group of welfare slaves dependent on government largess to buy votes. Our energy would be better spent trying to elevate the situation in Mexico. A stronger Mexico is a stronger trading partner for a North American Trading bloc. It would enrichen the US as well. Mexico coud be encouraged as an ally to counter Hugo Chavez and the Latin American communists. Right now...... they are a mess! And the Exodus is another thing keeping that country down. Long Term, Illegal Immigration hurts Mexico worse than it does us.

Thank you Lawhawk for pointing out that MOST important fact. The problem now with our "tolerant" culture is that it actually discourages becoming an American.
Once we started adding hyphens to everyone's nationality, we gave up on the "melting pot" idea and became a nation of several separate and distinct pots.

And how many people each year are kidnapped for ransom in those US cities? And if it's such a great country why the influx here? It may have offer some great experiences but you know Hell (the traditional form we're taught) always has weather above 70 degrees - a golfer's paradise! Probably why it's lined with lawyers.

Yes.

That's one of the most basic rules--if you're not strong enough to hold onto it, someone will take it away.

And the various nations of the Americas used THAT rule all the time--long before we ever got here.

i agree Mexico is in its, gangland period... as America was in the 20s. But they went through, were duped by, dictator after dictator. Mexicans do need to stop coming here for work. And make their nation work. Mexicans here get a lot of free stuff... go to any ER waiting room and all are hispanic, schools have many illegal or anchor babies, whose parents wont show up for meetings or volunteer. And they even get welfare! the illegal alien cost in California is like 7+ billion! Look I grew up in & live in spanish named towns, have friends of Mexican descent, we just go all Gran Torino on each other. I love Mexicans! I just hate anyone who crawls thru the window, then expects things. I wouldnt even mind increasing LEGAL immigration. But Ingles ONLY! Our kids should grow up American, with Founding Father & judeo-christian priniciples. And you and I can insult each other over a plate of carnes asada, beans & rice..mmmmm...

Although I do very much agree with the Great Satan's comment. But it's worth noting that Mexico's press, politicians and intelligentsia and general population are constantly engaged in the process of examining their own culture, the endemic corruption, crime and violence in some specific areas. Mexico is a very evolved nation that doesn't need us to sling insults and xenophobic slurs against it to be aware that it has some major societal issues that are in the continual process of being corrected - just like the US! After all, I live in DC, and my beautiful nation features Oakland, Detroit, etc.... not exactly anyone's top vacay destinations.

I can definitely vouch for the fact that the beauty and treasures and cultures of Mexico rival Thailand's. Only people who haven't been properly introduced to Mexico would sneer at vacationing there! We are so blessed to have beautiful wonderful Mexico a short flight away from us and remember that if you haven't properly experienced something, you have no right to criticize it. Open the book, "1,000 Places to Visit Before You Die," and see how many destinations in it are from Mexico! Eat ceviche on La Ropa Beach in Zihuatanejo from fish you JUST caught. Scuba dive off of Cozumel. See the sunset at the pyramids of the moon and sun at CHichen Itza and feel the magical power of the Maya. Dine at Izote, one of Mexico City's most fabulous restaurants, and then head to one of the city's beautiful boutique hotels to your rooftop bar for cocktails and a night of partying. But until you've properly tried beautiful Mexico, you can't know how wonderful it is :-))) In short, try it, you'll like it!

What do you do, take a couple of shots of tequila after each comment? Each comment you make is sillier, more incoherent, and even less reasoned than the one you made previously. Chop suey was invented in Chicago, can you find some significance in that? If you think that the dysentery and rampant diarrhea in Mexico among tourists comes from a change in diet and eating spicy food, you need to have your cabeza examined. Even the locals won't drink the water if they can avoid it.
