I know that President Obama - and his biggest advocates, Sean Penn and Bill Ayres - would like to be liked by dictators and kings. The problem is, there is a delicate balancing act when it comes to diplomacy. Shaking hands is a start - no problem. But all those people who are paying for you to fly around the world don't expect t9o be apologized for or trashed by our own President.
Mr. Ayres didn't use words, he used bombs. Sean Penn has met several times with a dictator who wishes for death to Americans. The President obviously doesn't care for Americans too much.
Very simply, all of the afore-mentioned men hate what America is..and want to CHANGE the Constitution, the two-party system, the American dream and the idea of anyone being able to become wealthy - like they all did - by following a personal dream rather than the dream of our new leader. And, you call us un-American. Huh.

Greg,

I am going to correct a spelling mistake, but NOT because I am a liberal weenie who wants to feel morally superior. I am a conservative republican who found the mistake to be the start of an either good or horrible idea.

You called your column the "Daily Guy" instead of the "Daily Gut." Now anybody to the right of Leon Trotsky or the Pelosiraptor can see that the "y" key is directly to the right of the "t" key.

Yet I like the idea of a "Daily Guy" column. Given what a bunch of sissies make up most television programming, we could designate one alpha-male per day to be a ""Daily Guy."

Metrosexuals and anybody ever a guest on Phil Donahue or current talk shows are eliminated. If they were in movies where stuff gratuitously gets blown up, they get a pass.

I am declaring you today's first Daily Guy. You wear jeans, and just don't give a d@mn.

As for the Daily Gut, I am going with myself. I have put on a few pounds, look like I am in my 3rd trimester, and will name it Gut if it is a boy.

eric aka the Tygrrrr Express

P.S. Reading this on the air...not necessary. My parents are tired of changing their last name and address. Then again, they are old and should not be awake at 3am. Also, you don't even look like Matlock or Angela Lansbury.

I think it would have behooved Obama to be a bit less warm toward Chavez. True. But too Obama does have a big smile and I think he is genuine. The handshake style also is definitely not of the older-white-dudes variety, which definitely throws some critics into a headspin. I think if Obama is clueless it would be with regards to the way even the subtlest actions are amplified by the media and by those who dislike him. But that's what happens when you're President. Still, I don't think one can try to make every move based on what the critics will say.
It's one thing I really don't much like about poltics. Every move begins to seem calculated. That's what sunk Hillary.

I get your point that in formal meetings, politicians are expected to be polite and shake hands and smile. This is even true when the person is someone that is not a friend of the country (such as Khrushchev and Mao). If the goal is to thaw relations, then it obviously does no good to be rude when greeting the person.

I think the problem that some have with the Obama-Chavez greeting is that it went a bit beyond a respectful handshake. In some of the photos, it looks like they are going to give each other a man hug.

This, combined with his bow/whatever to the Saudi King, irritates some people who don't believe our president should be so overly friendly to guys who are not necessarily on our side.

I guess the point of my photo was that it is not the act itself that is of concern. Rather, it is the degree of enthusiasm in the act. Some people interpret that to mean Obama really is a secret Muslim/Venezuelan communist who can't hide his true feelings.

I prefer to think that Obama is just a bit clueless when it comes to representing the U.S. to foreign dignitaries.
