Right you are Kadaka! These socialists who think most crime is of the "white collar" sort tend to forget that MOST "white collar" crime is committed by working stiffs and NOT corporate CEO's, so what he's advocating is cracking down harder on "those who actually do the work."

The guy's BDS is almost palpable, isn't it? President Bush did several things of which I disapprove, but he was NEVER "dishonorable." What's "dishonorable" is a young man, schooled by Saul Alinsky and without even the experience of running a Dairy Queen, deciding after 172 days of "experience" as a U.S. Senator that HE knows better what's good for the country (and the world, for that matter) than anyone else and running for the Presidency. Talk about hubris! The man is dishonest and, worse yet, highly dangerous.

Are you really a person or merely an experimental A.I. program that responds with the opposite of fact and reason?

<i>Yes, there is a guarantee - …that executives will continue to reward themselves with fat bonuses for poor performances while disregarding the good of the company. How stupid do you think the public is?</i>
How stupid do you think investors are? The lousy executives will get kicked out, investors want a good return. If they don't complain about fat bonuses for lousy returns, at least by voting with their feet and taking their money elsewhere, they deserve what they get. Investors have an obligation to be vigilant with their own money. You can't even leave it untouched in the bank anymore without the government claiming it as an "inactive account."

<i>What I want is a huge federal government that can shut down white collar crime dead in its tracks.</i>
Fine, feel free to start sending complete and accurate records of all your financial dealings to the appropriate federal registry, that's the only way government can come close to stopping it. That'll still leave the politicians open for their "wink and nod" gentlemanly corruption of barely-legal campaign and business dealings in exchange for influence we see plenty of. Don't forget to keep track of all tips paid and to whom, get Social Security numbers, to make sure employers aren't under-reporting income and thus denying earned future benefits, which is white collar crime, which you want stopped.

<i>We are the government! It can work because it is us.</i>
Ha Ha Ha Ha!! This sentiment is being echoed by the political class of cronies and cronies-in-training who comprise government and are highly appreciative of gullible voters such as yourself. You might be elected as dog catcher without party support, anything else as an "independent reformer" is virtually impossible.

<i>And we have leaders who are brave enough to stick out their necks...</i>
As far as the polls say they should go!

<i>...and put the good of the commons ahead of protecting their careers.</i>
Oh come on man, you're killing me here! Can't... stop... laughing!!

<i>The founders would be proud; courage has replaced dishonor. </i>
And stupidity has replaced intelligence if you think your "definitions" of those words would even be recognized by them! They put everything on the line for this country, and President Barry barely went a week before breaking campaign promises. He started dampening down the enthusiasm that got him elected during his victory speech, sold his voters on how he'd sweep into Washington and change it all overnight, and used that speech to set up his 2012 campaign as letting him finish what he started!

<i>Right wingers use the word “socialism” when they fear that their true motives are uncovered and need a diversion. Socialist!! Socialist!!</i>
Yeah yeah, right-wingers say "Rain!" and it's a diversion. That explains why you're getting soaking wet. Be sure to stay outside when they yell "Tornado!" Such an obvious diversion, feel free to disregard.

Your comments are a perfect example of why conservatism is a dying ideology.

You voice concern about no guarantees in the Social Security “ponzi” scheme, but your plan to reduce taxes for big corporations? Yes, there is a guarantee - …that executives will continue to reward themselves with fat bonuses for poor performances while disregarding the good of the company. How stupid do you think the public is?

What I want is a huge federal government that can shut down white collar crime dead in its tracks. That old, tired argument that the government can’t operate efficiently, for example health care, is negative blubber. We are the government! It can work because it is us. And we have leaders who are brave enough to stick out their necks, and put the good of the commons ahead of protecting their careers. The founders would be proud; courage has replaced dishonor.

Right wingers use the word “socialism” when they fear that their true motives are uncovered and need a diversion. Socialist!! Socialist!! Yeah, and Nancy Pelosi is the center of the torture scandal. We need more unemployed actors to write stories titled: “Waterboard Pelosi.”

oh what? The republicans on this comment section do not like Nancy Pelosi? I’m shocked.

As a dem, and liberal troll, I have to say: You guys all already blew your vote on Pelosi- you’re motives are highly questionable since there is a long established history for your hatred of this woman.

Further, (again, as a dem troll): Democrats, face it: Pelosi has “jumped the shark” big time. By calling the CIA into question, as a Dem, she’s pushed one of the Democrats special “Nuclear Buttons”. Now dems: This means its time to line up: You are either with Pelosi or you are against her.

Republican’s watch out: what I’m about to say is very Machiavellian, which may be morally flawed I realize, but - right/wrong, IF Pelosi goes down as the sacrificial democrat (like Hilary did for another famous Bush Era Democrat Capitulancy(tm))…Then you can bet your as$es this will be the next hostage to be shot in the Great American Torture-VS-Justice Philosophical Quest will be your former VP!

That’s right, Liz Cheney’s been sent to get out in front to attack Pelosi and character-assassinate Powell’s army buddy. Why? Well we shouldn’t be surprised to notice that Dick Cheney LIVES by the ethos that a strong offense is the best defense - I believe that’s what people of his kind stand for, pretty much. That’s why they are so, “offensive”, so to speak!

Why is Dick Cheney still on the offensive, months after relinquishing control of the reigns of Vice Presidential power? Because of the CIA- Oops, I meant to say: Because of CYA. Do you know what THAT stands for???

<i>I am only one of a great number of American working people who want to get rid of the politicians who do what the bank lobbyists pay them to...</i>

Democrats Chris Dodd and Kent Conrad had those sweetheart Countrywide mortgages, Dodd took in about $70 thousand from Bank of America, etc, here's a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Countrywide_financial_political_loan_scandal" rel="nofollow">source</a>, check out the references for more juicy details. There's good old Barney Frank's support for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, who gave him contributions (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barney_Frank" rel="nofollow">source</a>), who he defended vigorously as not having financial problems, then after they blew up he was pushing for their bailout. Etc.

<i>...who want to see a bigger slice of the pie go to those who do the work and less to those who profit from their labor...</i>

Then you reduce government spending and taxation, reform the Ponzi scheme known as Social Security that has no guarantees any worker will ever see any of the enormous sums they pour into it, reduce taxes and provide other incentives for companies to build and expand in the US providing enduring employment that tightens up the job market and increases the going wages, and many other things that make for robust companies who can afford to pay their employees more. Government profits heavily from other people's labor, so reduce their take. Are you one of those who think business is some zero-sum game, just shift some from here over to the workers and everything will be fine? "Here" includes management, which is an international competitive labor market for those viewed as most competent, and it seems hypocritical to think the guy on the street deserves anything they can get but the guy in the office does not. "Here" also includes shareholders, investors, who expect a decent return on their money. How would you like to find out your bank decided to pay you only half the interest you were expecting so they could give their employees a raise? Would you support those workers and stay at that bank, or go down the street where you can get more? It's a big world with plenty of places to invest, punish investors in America to reward workers and you'll simply see less investors.

<i>...who want to end once and for all living under blackmail conditions of gas prices at 5 bucks a gallon whenever the fat cats feel like charging that much...</i>

That's tied to supply and is sensitive to concerns over foreign suppliers, the market spikes whenever there's unrest in the volatile areas supplying the world. Support more drilling here at home for an increased supply with less worries. From <a href="http://www.eia.doe.gov/emeu/international/oilprice.html" rel="nofollow">here</a>, the "Weekly (Monday) Retail Premium Gasoline Prices, Selected Countries (U.S. Dollars per Gallon)" section, you can compare US gas prices to a few European ones. Note that without taxes gas is currently cheaper in the UK, where they have a ready supply of crude, otherwise the prices are about the same. With taxes, people in those European countries with high social spending are paying around two to three times the US rate. Note the Democratic rumblings about how we need to increase gas prices to reduce consumption, we can support higher taxes to pay for spending, mentions of how the Europeans are doing just fine while paying more... The fat cats you seek are in DC, not on Wall Street.

<i>...and want to see the common folk survive even if they have a kid with cancer or get hit with a serious medical condition...</i>

Do as above for a tighter job market that leads to better benefits. Also check into how many companies are actually self-insured for health care, you'd be surprised, Blue Cross and Blue Shield actually shuffle the paperwork for many. Stronger companies will yield better benefits. There is a lot of community-based fundraising for those in need, which is normally supported by those who work for strong companies which can pay them good wages. Don't expect government to finally get health care right. For all the vast sums we pour into Medicaid, if the conditions you describe force one to seek it, locally I can tell you the qualifications quite simply: no more than one house, one car, and two steps above buying dog food to survive. If you care to know, you may be shocked how many medical practitioners won't even take Medicaid patients, you need a rather profitable practice to soak up the losses from the pitiful reimbursement rates, and don't even ask about dental. If that's the best government has been able to do, why would any sane reasonable person expect them to suddenly do much better?

…and want to see the common folk survive even if they have a kid with cancer or get hit with a serious medical condition…

President Bush and I part company on many things, but he's nowhere NEAR as terrible a President as Obama promises to be, judging from his performance so far. Wall Street didn't "dump" a disaster on us, ddaichiro. CONGRESS did. The Dimocrats, ably aided and abetted by the so-called "mainstream media" have been most successful in demonizing Wall Street--just like the Communists of the 50's & 60's did--but it was Congressional mandates and over-regulation...NOT "deregulation" (which never occurred)...that's responsible. We haven't had a conservative administration since Reagan nor a conservative Congress since 1998. If you and your pals are so anxious for socialism, there are plenty of socialist countries around--and every one of them is an economic basket case with more poverty per capita than the U.S. has even imagined, let alone experienced. Get used to those hamsters in a wheel, by the way. If your crowd has its way, that's how you'll be generating electricity in just a few years.

I'm not saying people don't want change, my friend. I'm saying that changing from a capitalist system to a socialist system is a recipe for utter disaster and that's NOT what they want. They (We) want a change back to the country we enjoyed before the spoiled brats of the '60's decided that stealing from those who earn a living and giving stuff away to those who refuse to do so is a good idea. We want change back to a country as envisioned by Dr. King, where people are provided with an economic climate where ANYONE can prosper if they are intelligent, work hard, have talent and ambition and are honest, REGARDLESS of race, sex or ethnicity. Frankly, we're fed up to here with the phony "compassion" of liberals who've destroyed the public schools in the name of secular humanism and who are, by FAR, the most racist among us and the most hypocritical bunch of morons it's been my misfortune to witness at work...all in the name of grabbing and keeping as much political power as possible while holding the "proletariat " in utter contempt.

I thank God that you people cannot possibly cover up what a horrible President did for 8 long years and what a shameful disaster Wall Street dumped all over the United States in 2008. Rush or Ann Coulter or Mark Levin or all the professional Republicans you can pay WILL NEVER wipe out what was done. I see energy put to better use by a hamster spinning in his wheel.
