Dad went to Korea, college and law school. He defended doctors and hospitals. He loved being a husband and a Dad to his four children. When he made it to partner, he bought a Cadillac and he always voted Republican. Thanks, America. I hope you can still offer opportunity to my kids. They're working on it. Our local LE (both city police and county sheriffs) are, by and large, conservative, God-fearing, Jesus-loving men and women who are just as concerned about the country as we are. I will admit I live in a conservative pocket (county) in the Land of Sunshine, so I recognize our area is the exception, not the rule. I wouldn't put it past our men and women in blue and green to set up a perimeter and protect our county from any invasion by a socialist national goverhment if it came to that. :) Depends on where you live, Mark. I'm a singer of sorts and have been asked to sing it several times. I have always declined for two reasons: (1) I'm really not comfortable as a soloist (I can suck it up an sing solo if required, but it's just not my cup of tea) and (2) I know I'll break down and cry and, therefore, be unable to finish the song. Today, I heard it sung by a young lady of 12 or 13 at our local TEA Party. She changed keys in the middle (noticably and not very smoothly) so that she could hit the high notes at the end in full belt voice. Even so, I was in tears and unable to speak at the end, much less sing along. I was sitting, amongst friends, next to my friend Bernardo who is from Chile and only recently (last year?) became a citizen of the USA. He seemed touched to see me so emotional and said, "That's so good that you still feel that way." It is my hope that we all will feel the depth of emotion and love of country that nearly-impossible-to-sing tune brings to you and me. :) Phthalo,
