In another time this article might have been funny. But here, in modern America, with a world teetering on disaster, it is far too true to be able to laugh at.

I found it not to be funny, but indicative of what the left really thinks. I'll be passing it on.

It's hilarious that people actually believe that pap. Want irony? I had a conversation with an acquaintance–who was born and raised in France and as far as I can tell believes everything you just wrote. She thinks Americans "have too much fun" and as a consequence are "wasteful." She went to Vegas and couldn't enjoy it because she couldn't get past the carbon emissions from all the lights. I kid you not!

I tried to explain that wealthy nations actually help the poorer nations via buying their products, donating food and medical supplies, supporting democratic govts, etc. She said, and I quote: "I'd rather see people die of starvation than produce all the wasteful products we don't need."

Hmm…that's not very compassionate, I thought. People who think like your letter are the biggest phonies ever is my experience.

Here inside the Beltway, there are a lot of citizens who actually think that way. Their knowledge of the US and the world is consistent with Jay Leno's "Jaywalking" interviewees and they vote as they're told by their community organizers. I see them and their vast ignorance of reality every day in the hallways of my workplace. These are the kinds of support staff who will run the nuts and bolts of a nationalized health care program if it is ever instituted – be afraid.

Yesterday, Mr. Nolte stated, in the Oliver Stone thread, it is staggering that artists support people that oppose free expression. I would like to throw this out there. The reason Stone, Penn, et al support dictators like Chavez is that information (or misinfomation) is much a commodity as Wall Street bonds and derivatives. It has been pointed out that many of the mover and shakers of Wall Street are Democrats. Why? These people are capitalists? No not really, when they actively try to influence politicians in this manner. They are peddling in political power. If they can influence legislation and the administration of those laws, it puts them in the position to have a more advantageous position than the competition, if not eliminate the competition, not by the creative destruction of the free market, but by political means. Not a new thought at all, read "Atlas Shrugged" But now information is just as much a commodity and who ever can garner the political influence and participate in the anti-American narrative, their commodity becomes more valuable. To put it bluntly, the more they sell the notion that America sucks, they more they stand to make, not always as monetary rewards , but sometimes yes sometimes cold hard cash, sometimes power. And selling the America sucks narrative can be as overt as saying it directly, "America sucks" or as subtle, probably more dangerous, as supporting anti-American values like bigger government at the cost of individual liberty, statism, but wrapping it up in an American flag and calling it patriotic. Yeah, that is directed at Micheal Moore and Oliver Stone.

That is why the reporting by Patrick Courrielche on the NEA's pushing Obama's agenda is so important.

Poll numbers say otherwise about your "mental shift". And your side would know about ultimate victims, seeing as how your demographics have the most undeserved sense of entitlement in the history of civilization.
