haha ….oh helen thomas came up when I was eating..spoiler alert!
Once again, great stuff!
I’m not terribly impressed with the Media Research Center anymore. As a young person it appears to me they are stuck in the ‘80s with their presentation — Andrew touched on that when meeting with conservative leaders in Washington — and their website layout is just awful and too web 1.0. Time for an update folks and a new look.
Also, the idea of fake news from the right is a great idea if more production quality were thrown into it and if the laugh-track were thrown away. Maybe it would be wise if they took ques from The Onion’s In the Know video series and have a parody of a panel of enlightened liberal pundits, movie stars and journalist advocating absurd Democrat policies and fawning over Michelle’s toned arms. Anything comedic that makes the American left seem utterly absurd and comical is very much needed now. Call it the Mainstream News Network and dress it up as parody MSNBC or CNN. Hell, get a Chris Matthews look-a-like pundit and just have him spit all over his guest.
x2 On all your comments Jack.
The laugh track just sounds desperate. Your "faux panel" idea sounds great too. The Onion's show is a good model.
I for one would be willing to sit thru a (brief) ad for upgraded production values and a little more length.
Thanks, Jmckinne. I absolutely would be willing to sit through an ad if it means I can get some great, thoughtful and scathing conservative comedy that absolutely destroys the left’s well-guarded image and takes on their sacred cows. I honestly believe there is a market for such a show — or clips. Gutfeld seems to be doing well for himself and has developed a following with his some-what edgy take on things.
However, The Half-Hour News Hour was an utter disaster with horrible production quality that attempted to mimic Weekend Update which, in itself, is absolutely awful (If you’re in your twenties like me). I would love — love! — to see an intelligent conservative parody of the MSM with caricatures of their deranged, self-righteous and pompous personalities on display — the personalities that could be used are endless, utterly endless.
Media Research Center gives accurate and honest reporting, cutting through the crap that liberals and the White House feed us, and all you can think about is the show's 'production quality'?!
I don’t recall once knocking MRC for providing us on the right with the invaluable service of cutting through the left-wing echo-chamber. I did, however, comment on the aesthetics of MRC’s website which to me, as a 22-year-old conservative Republican, is visually lacking and rather stuffy in the age of web 2.0 — a stuffiness which plagues some of the more established institutions in the right-wing blogo sphere.
Now then, it is my hope that this stuffiness can be remedied by more media-savvy types (Andrew Breitbart comes to mind) and that conservative bastions will get with it and opt for sleeker looking websites, better video/application production and show an expressed desire to pull in a younger demographic with such changes in order to get them perusing the website, get them thinking about free-markets, personal-responsibility, limited government and just how ruinous the good intentions of the left really are for our nation.
If offering such criticism out of the hope of improving the conservative movement’s reach offends you — than by all means go ahead and throw your stones. I can certainly take the hits.
I get a tingle down my leg when I see NewsBusted has a new video ready to view.
So rather than worry about the content, you want more flash, fluff, and presentation. Which is exactly how Obama pulled the wool over people's eyes…………………

Fake laugh track. Nothing funny. Boring as a Republican.
I'm a 48-yr-old conservative and think Jack's correct. MRC's content and focus are great but the presentation needs sprucing up.
Gee, I rather like being a boring Republican as compared to being, what…. a Democrat? (Real laugh track.)
I tried watching these videos once, but I couldn't believe they were using a laugh track. I thought it was an inside joke at first, but no… I can't listen to it for more than 20 seconds without cringing and clicking it off. There's no way I would send links to friends. It's too bad, because the idea is good.
As mentioned earlier, the Onion News Network does a similar idea, but the execution is much more professional.
Well, with all of the money some of these groups bring in you would think they could pour some into production value, hire some good writers and good actors and make something that could really, really go viral.
I hate to keep chirping about this, but no one is going to take your cause, your ideas or even the message seriously if it comes off as lacking professionalism and decent presentation. I have no desire to be associated with people who are careless enough — or even stingy, if that’s the case — not to pour some money into a clean, sleek, user-friendly website that is fit for the times. Brand is everything and no one wants to be associated with a brand that is stale.
We need a reinvigorated internet presence, higher content/production value, and must set out to build institutions — both political and cultural — that can win new converts, spread the message and tear down the ruinous policies of the left. Hopefully someone, somewhere in the higher up is contemplating the changes that need to be made before we press on.
Here is an idea: How about a Blue State Update? “Progressives” are easy to parody — all one has to do is find two conservatives willing to act as two latte-sipping effeminate meterosexuals who are ill-informed hypocrites railing against the excesses of capitalism while mind-numbingly sipping copious amounts of five-bucks-a-cup Starbucks in their overpriced designer clothing.
The Blue State Update will take place on a set featuring a very trendy and expensive looking black leather couch where the two host will sit — Starbucks and lip moisturizer in hand — as they rail on about today’s top political/cultural stories while appealing for the absurd. Of course a very expensive coffee table will lie in front of our host — littered with empty Starbucks cups and copies of the NYT, The Nation and Das Kapital (all of which our host admittedly don’t read since the bulk of their information comes from Jon Stewart, Keith Olbermann and the more shadier media outlets found at IndyBay and other “Progressive“ outfits. It is just nice to have the NYT strategically placed there so that others, the more important others, will think of them as well read and with it). Both our host claim they went to Cornell which is questionable — maybe one went there by way of mommy and daddy’s Manhattan cocktail circuit connections. Of course a table will be behind our host will nicely framed pictures of the Obama’s waving, dancing, kissing and hugging each other among many, many more Obama precious moments.
Possible topics of discussion:
– Learning to be tolerant of other people’s opinions and ideas and trying to teach those mouth-breathing knuckle-dragging hillbilly rubes down South not to disagree with the opinions of enlightened progressives.
– Hair products (or just “product” as it is known in more trendier circles) and how Che was blessed (blessed!) with *awesome* hair and roguish good looks — just like John Edwards!
– How John Edwards’s illegitimate baby is really Britol Palin’s baby and how Cheney, Rove and the Neocon Cabal™ drugged John Edwards and took pictures of him in Beverly Hills with obvious Republican operative Rielle Hunter.
– Why America is the source of all evil and why folks like Tim Geithner and other Democrats should be excused from paying taxes (Hint: Because We Care™)
– How Stephen Colbert and his conservative racist hate-show of absolute hate and intolerance and more hate is hurting America and why we need to issue a Fairness Doctrine on his a**!
