The Anti-Churchill: Obama Talks, The Market Drops.
by Ernie MannixAll through the campaign Barack Obama told us not to listen to the “politics of fear.” These are the ways of the old guard, the naysayers, the negative ones - he said. Those who won’t sit and talk with the bad men are the warmongers - he called them. These are the guys who created our enemies, he inferred. Don’t listen when they use words like “terrorist” and ”disaster” and ignore the call to be vigilant. It’s a neo-con ruse. It’s a plot to scare you.
So what has our president been saying lately? The economic slump is a “continuing disaster,” he told us. He said the economy is “in crisis.” Back in December he told us it was “going to get worse.” Recently he warned of a “national catastrophe” if the stimulus bill wasn’t passed. He kept his speech before the joint session somewhat more positive in a stylistic sense (style points count when you blow off your promise about not tolerating any earmarks). But still, again down goes the Dow.
I can’t remember a president in my lifetime who out of the gate, has been so pessimistic and directly affected the markets so negatively. This man sits in the most powerful position on the globe. His words BOOM above every other chief on the planet. A president says it – the world listens. He keeps telling us he inherited this problem. No sir, you wanted this problem. You ran on it, with it and for it. Time to stop the blame and deliver on your promises, deliver on your hope. The markets need some.
Now, say for instance you have several million dollars and are thinking about investing in a start up business but you turn on the tube and the leader of the free world is saying words like “disaster” and “crisis” and other doom gloomy tidbits. Maybe you put your dinero back in your pocket? I think so.
Or, you employ a crap load of people and are teetering on some layoffs due to the fear that things just might get worse, and you punch up the boys at MSNBC playing some tape of our president doing the henny penny deal. Hmmmmm, maybe Bob Cratchit needs to go, after all. Screw, Tiny Tim.
Obama laid the groundwork for the market’s fear of him during the campaign by inferring capitalists were villains, and wealthy folks were their henchmen. Pure class warfare. Earth to the White House: Big business employs people.
In order to help Main Street, we need to make sure there are some stores left on Main Street. And in order to help the worker, we have to be sure he has a place to work. Watching corporations and passing sensible regulation is fine, but turning them into villains and crying disaster every five minutes has its repercussions. The repercussions are evident in the markets. We need a leader who can instill pride, confidence and a spark in the American worker, and most importantly in the American corporation. Like it or not, we depend on corporations for almost everything we touch.
During WWII, when England cringed under Hitler’s bombs, Winston Churchill inspired a nation to come together, to persevere through adversity, and he told them that in doing this, it would be their “finest hour.”
However, we keep hearing the bad news. We keep hearing how bad all those nasty corporations are. Mr. President, you need to inspire, not fatigue. You need to lift us up and grease the wheels of commerce (hint: lower their tax burden).
Being so unhopeful, you’re sounding to us like a sort of Anti-Churchill.
“We will hand out on the land, we will hand out on the sea, we will punish the wealthy. We will reward failure and incompetence, debtors and greed; with a new start. We will transfer the wealth. We will demand that those who planned and saved, worked and sacrificed, turned down the vacations, and didn’t run up debt, PAY UP to help you – my overspending brothers and sisters.”
To me it is plain as day; our president must inspire hope in business, as well as the common American. He needs to remind us that we have gone astray in our personal spending and debt, and spur on the corporations.
Americans are addicted to credit and spending. It’s time to realize that we as a nation have a personal problem and we need to take the personal steps to correct it. Not everyone can afford the best cars, houses, toys, vacations. Credit needs to be paid back, and at a much higher cost. Addiction is a nasty thing, and denial is part of the problem. So by taking the focus off our real problem, and praying for the leader to bail us out, we just might be hiding the problem that is still there. They say addicts sometimes trade one addiction for another, then delude themselves into thinking they have truly kicked their addicted ways.So just maybe, America is trading it’s addiction to spending… for its addiction to Obama.

Nothing said it more clearly than when the budget was unveiled and he talked Universal Healthcare. Market drops sharply again, and guess which stocks dropped the most … healthcare. People know that the health industry is a bad investment if the government runs it. Way to strengthen our economy BO.
Obama shooting his mouth off has seen the Dow drop 12 1/2% in his first month in office.
At this rate of decline (which is steepening, not flattening), by September, IBM will be trading at $25.
Not per share.
The entire company.
If he was anyone other than ther President, with Secret Service diligently protecting against the very thought of harming the man, even accidentally – (which efforts I heartily commend) – I'd suggest that the next time he starts to say the words "financial crisis" near a live microphone, someone nearby should tackle him.
As Will Rogers would have told him "Never pass up a good opportunity to shut up."
Barry Obama- Dow Slayer.
Hope. Spare Change?
Funny. I do not recall Reagan or Bush 43 whining about the recessions they inherited. And what kind of leader sits their and cries to the people about the "mess" he "inherited". Wow, some leadership. Oh, and what's the best way to handle a shortage in finances in your house? That's right, spend a lot more money than you have – put it on the plastic, after all, it is becoming clear that "you" won't have to pay for that stuff. I guess possession really is 9/10ths of the law.
Fear and blame continue the victim mentality that make his success. Failure is always someone else's (corporations, Bush, Republicans in general) fault so someone else (Obamessiah) needs to fix it. He'll never give up keeping the masses down – he can't stand so high without all of them under his feet.
Hey, I read your article and the Dow actually started going up….. no, wait….. yes, there it……. no… yes… uhh…
Oh well, guess I'll keep that hard hat close by for when the sky starts hitting me in the head.
< Howard Cosell> Down goes the dow! Down goes the dow! <Cosell>
Please, Barry, keep the change. You're killing us.
I thought that was extremely poor taste in his SOTU address. The cheers from the lefties were in even poorer taste.
Seems to me, if Obama believes in this so much, he'll take a pay cut, since the President's salary is over $250,000, and he'll inject the lion's share of the proceeds from his legion of autobiographies into the government's coffers to help pay for this burden-rather, stimulus.
But that ain't likely and I don't expect it.
Carry an umbrella. Made of steel.
Obama and crew need the crisis to continue as cover for their ambitious Marxist take over. Trouble for them is their idiotic economic measures will succeed in crippling capitalism enough that we may not even hit bottom by 2012, much less be interested in 4 more years of Obama. Nothing fails like the arrogant incompetent.
I've frequently thought while watching Obama speak that I've never seen a President spend so much time blaming "previous administrations" for problems. He honestly is the most pessimistic and negative President I've seen in my lifetime by a mile which is ironic given his "hope" mularkey. It's really just trying to scare us into submission so we won't ask questions in a year or so when we're in the bread line and paying $250 for a pair of jeans. America hasn't been under this sort of assault since the 30's with Huey Long and FDR economics.
Fact is government's historically use tough times to increase their power. They seize more and more control knowing that the country will eventually adapt to their heavy handed interference and the crisis will pass at which time they can say "see we fixed it" and most people are too ignorant to understand it would have passed in a couple of months if it weren't for their "helping".
One thing I must say for Obama is no politician has ever so brilliantly capitalized off of the ignorance of the "average citizen" as he has. He says there is no pork in his so called stimulus bill but a quick glance proves otherwise (90 million dollars to educate minorities on digital TV…seriously) and then he puts out a pork loaded socialist manifesto of a budget for $3.5 trillion and calls it the "New Era of Responsibility", brilliant. He knows most people won't look at it and his followers will simply take him at his word, it also doesn't help that the watchers (media) are no longer watching and refusing to question him. We've heard more about his getting a dog than his shifting the power scape by attempting to have the executive branch seize control of the census which would allow the Whitehouse to redraw districts assuring power for the forseeable future. Unbelievable.
What am I going to do when my home and business are destroyed by sky parts. Okay, so Obama's handing the states all these funds. So I call my Illinois senator and he'll…
I'm screwed, right?
Huckster, Chicago-Thug. I hope everyone that voted for The Messiah is happy now.
gary, nice ones.
Who knew kool-aid was so expensive?
When did Marx say OBAMA controls the means of production?
Pompous, stupid, and tripling the debt is now way to go through life son.
(things Dean Wormer should have said)
Check the footnotes.
Somebody throw a flag on the play
I think there should be a 1% across the board pay cut for all Federal Government employees , from President right on down. The first act of Congress should have been to rescind their January pay raise that they voted to give themselves.
Subject: Stimulus Package Explained (Q&A)
Sometime this year, taxpayers will receive an Economic Stimulus Payment. This is a very exciting new program that I will explain using the Q and A format:
Q. What is an Economic Stimulus Payment?
A. It is money that the federal government will send to taxpayers.
Q. Where will the government get this money?
A. From taxpayers.
Q. So the government is giving me back my own money?
A. No, they are borrowing it from China. Your children are expected to repay the Chinese.
Q. What is the purpose of this payment?
A. The plan is that you will use the money to purchase a high-definition TV set, thus stimulating the economy.
Q. But isn't that stimulating the economy of China ?
A. Shut up.
Below is some helpful advice on how to best help the US economy by spending your stimulus check wisely:
If you spend that money at Wal-Mart, all the money will go to China .
If you spend it on gasoline it will go to Hugo Chavez, the Arabs and Al Queda
If you purchase a computer it will go to Taiwan .
If you purchase fruit and vegetables it will go to Mexico , Honduras , and Guatemala (unless you buy local).
If you buy a car it will go to Japan and Korea .
If you purchase prescription drugs it will go to India
If you purchase heroin it will go to the Taliban in Afghanistan
If you give it to a charitable cause, it will go to Nigeria .
And none of it will help the American economy. We need to keep that money here in America . You can keep the money in America by spending it at yard sales, going to a baseball game, or spend it on prostitutes, beer (domestic only), or tattoos, since those are the only businesses still in the US
Yeah and I want to know who's paying for that dog?? Maybe the kids can sacrifice the dog for the good of the country.
Even Robert Byrd criticized Obama for his power grab.
Sad thing is that many of the Big Moca's fans have nothing to lose; they put up nothing and contribute nothing, so taxing the rich has no impact on them. They are just waiting to get a handout.
The other dopes who voted for him, well they are getting the big shaft.
Hope they are happy.
I can track each major dip in my pathetic 401K to each time President Obama talks about the economy. Can someone please keep him behind closed doors until next year?

"You need to lift us up and grease the wheels of commerce (hint: lower their tax burden)."
Not to mention the fact that businesses rarely pay taxes, they just pass them along. FAIR Tax people.
I wish some of people that have the ability and skill to write great opinion pieces would discuss this more.
There is no connection between the two. But if you believe it, you are probably the type of person who is an easy mark.
Meanwhile, Obama's Justice Department is busting one ponzi scheme after another, something Bush's people never did.
How high is the water, papa?
$80 Billion and rising.
Does that include AIG?
Nope.
Nice article Ernie, very insightful as always.
Unfortunately, to make big changes, you have to scare people into thinking what they did before wasn't working. That's the Obama plan. That's why he keeps attacking the economy on the one hand and then promising to "rebuild" or "restructure" or "begin again" with the other.
He's even given us an enemies list to blame it on — bankers, selfish (non-cabinet based) tax cheats, hedge funds, speculators, obstructionist Republicans….
Nice! Mr. Obama, zero point zero. Looks like it's time for double secret probation.
If you live in Illinois and you want government action, make sure to keep a little extra cash in your wallet to grease the wheels, so to speak.
I would rather they fired every other one. I used to work for the government, I can assure you that would not hurt the government at all.
I'm still for my jury duty rebuilding of government. Get the letter in the mail, and BAM you're a senator.
Run for office. You could become the next President!
LOL!
Actually…. that's kind of a cool idea. Didn't someone in Ancient Greece come up with that, Randomopolese I think.
Thank you! When I can't quite balance my family budget, I don't say, "Oh, here's the problem. I just haven't spent enough! I'll just spend a lot more, and everything will be fine." In what world is that ever a good plan? When you don't have two dimes to rub together, you make do with the dime that you have.
As Rahm said a while back "Never waste a crisis."
and…..
Everything he does and says (including the folks he puts on his "enemies list") parallels so perfectly with what FDR did to make The Depression "Great" (I'm reading The Forgotten man by Amity Shlaes) that it's absolutely terrifying.
Yep. I own a small business and I'm going to wait until the economy gets better to expand at all. Of course, if people like me quit spending money it will take quite a bit longer for the economy to improve. And if Obama keeps beating up on the economy, that's going to be a long, long time from now.
But I'm really in no great hurry to make a bunch more money anyway because I know that Obama's tax plan will just take it away if I make "too much." In fact, if I can stay below a certain threshold I'll wind up making more after taxes then if I actually earned more.
"Fairness Doctrine" = Government Media Control
Bailout = Nationalization of Banks = Government Control of Financial System
Taking the Census inhouse = Democrat/government control of districting = one party rule
Putting ALL Med records online and other 650 billion $ initiatives = Government Control of all Health Care
"Green" Energy / Cap and Trade = Government Control of Energy which is control industry and YOU
Yet vague, but proposed controls on guns and ammo = first steps to gun control.
The military will be downsized. They will be set up for failure.
Soon the courts will gain the power to rewrite individual contracts! A violation of the constitution.
Barrack Obama is Kenyan for Hugo Chávez.
And you know who I blame? Republicans. They had the power and they blew it. Had they put a stop to Bush's spending Barry O would never have happened. As long as the current hierarchy is in power nothing has changed. Steele is a good start but only the first step in a long journey.
Okay.
Notes on campaign strategies-
1. Clear away the fallen-down sky bits. Check.
2. Think up catchy-catch phrase. No problem.
3. Seal life history in mason jars in the basement. Done.
4. Look like I'm thinking REAL hard. (have lots of training in this area)
5. Trade in Jeep for bus. (should be cheap right now)
I'll get right on this and keep you posted…
Agreed. But to clarify: Big businesses never pay taxes, small businesses usually don't have the luxury of raising prices every time expenses go up. If we do, we lose customers to big businesses that are better able to manage the additional costs.
It's the same way with everything the Democrats impose on businesses: Higher payroll, B&O, sales and property taxes, additional regulations, minimum wages…all of them hurt small businesses far more than they do big business. In fact they actually help big corporations (like WalMart, that Democrats claim to hate) gain more market share by driving small businesses out of business.
well, the sad thing is, they really are happy. you should see the letters to the editor in the time about how fab they think his budget plan is.
Unfortunately the refs have swallowed their whistles and are letting the players play
[...] Posted by Liberty on February 27, 2009 The Anti-Churchill: Obama Talks, The Market Drops [...]
So if Obama is presiding over this epic collapse of the Dow, does this mean Bush can finally have responsibility for 9/11? Or is that still Clinton’s fault? I guess the same question goes for the net loss of 2500 net points from Jan 2001 to Jan 2009 -Clintons fault or Obama's?
Take your time…
I just have a question for all the ones who days after the election/inauguration were cajoling and reprimanding us about giving Obama "a chance" – how does it feel now?! Feel good? I still deny he is legitimately our president. And the only pleasure I get is the vindication that my reasons were right: I will never acknowledge a Marxist pig as my country's leader.
Nice try. But no one is blaming Obama for the recession, they're blaming him for making it worse.
Correction: the Dow loss of 2500 net points from Jan 2001 to Jan 2009
Then allow me to revive this tired meme: America -Love it or leave it.
Heh. Yep. What's good for the goose, etc….
Lately many conservatives have been sounding just like the liberals they hated so much for the last eight years. It leads me to believe that they're not as different as they would like to think, they're just grinding a different ax.
Corporations are not people. A tax on Merck for example is on the profits that the shareholders theoretically own. The corporation simply passes it to the IRS on behalf of the shareholders.
Then, if the shareholders get a divident, that is taxed to the shareholder.
If the shareholder makes a capital gain, ditto.
So, unless a business is a SP, all taxes are paid by us.
How could it be any different? The joke is that BO is going to increase the corporate tax and he acts like we don't pay that tax. Oh, yes we do.
Repeat, ALL taxes are paid by individuals, indirectly or directly Unless of course, you are disadvantaged, then you get a free ride.
Speaking of Ponzi scheme's, what is SS and Medicare? What is the current stimulus bill?
Sure, we have a recession, and yes, it happened on Bush's watch. And he inherited one from saint Clinton, along with the fabulous CIA and FBI.
It all depends where you stand.
The real issue is what you do with the recession. Bush dropped out taxes and that worked. Obama will raise our taxes more than anyone in history. We will see how that works.
I'll spot your meme and raise you one: Im staying to fight for the REAL America, not the imposter one that that Liar is forcing on us. You dont like capitalism or the history of this country? YOU want change? YOU LEAVE. You dont like the fact that I will dissent against this change? Love it or leave it. DISSENT IS PATRIOTIC.
In fact, why the hell are you still here? Why arent you in China or Cuba? Why do you even bother wiht us if Real Americans disgust you so much that you want "change"?
I don't see hate here at all; I see panic, we are afraid of this bird and the stock market is simply reflecting that fear. The market runs from fear, downward. If you don't feel any fear right now, you are either asleep or stupid.
Honey honey, no one kicked you out when you were calling Bush nasty names. No one put you in jail. The only axe I have the one is the same one that the Sons of Liberty used against tyranny. As the other man said, Love (the Dissent) or go somewhere else.
People like you and the blog owner who think the "market" and the ECONOMY are the same are the PROBLEM. And if the economy is so weak (and it is) that a misplaced word causes a disaster, then the misplaced word isn't the problem. We allowed a handful of shysters to tell us that it was perfectly fine to outsource our manufacturing base, then middle class jobs, then import illegals, then H1B workers under the lie there is a shortage of labor…..and that everything would just continue to work like it did before! Who believed this? Who believe the "service economy" nonsense? Then shame on YOU. You really thought we could all get rich while not producing anything?
This wasn't an accident – this is the planned destruction of the US – or at least the middle class in the US. Read "The Creature from Jekyll Island."
aahhh .. you know what's weird? I think I understood that.
Churchill was a horrible person – http://www.rense.com/general67/curch.htm
well, if the liberals didn't set such a great example, people wouldn't be so good expressing dissent. We can also think them for fighting for our constitutional rights. Of course the Liberals don't care about the 1st and 2nd Amendments, so it's up to everyone else to bring those to light. I for one think the 10th Amendment needs to be resurrected, because President Hopey is treating it like a teenager in an R. Kelly home movie.
You're sadly very right. This is the planned destruction of the US. A doctor produces nothing; neither does a nurse. Both produce a service that is vital to you and I, but if neither of them can expect to command a living wage that reflects accurately the years of hard work they have to undergo in order to become competent doctors and nurses, then why would either bother to become a trained healthcare professional?
When the government takes over healthcare, it will decide what a doctor gets paid. We here laments all the time about the shortage of teachers and how the best and brightest won't go into teaching because they cannot make a living. What do you honestly think will happen to our healthcare workers?
And that's only the beginning of the problem with nationalizing.
"no one kicked you out when you were calling Bush nasty names."
Nope. I was branded a "traitor", a "terrorist appeaser", "Bin-Laden Lover" -had my car vandalized by a coupla' "Real Americans" n' stuff..
"No one put you in jail."
Au contriaire. I was one of the 1800+ unfortunate who got rounded up at the 2004 RNC convention and detained at Pier 57 (AKA "Guantanamo on the Hudson") for two days. My crime? Nothing. I never was charged.
Think "Red China "-under new management.
"The only axe I have the one is the same one that the Sons of Liberty used against tyranny"
That the biker show with Ron Perlman on FX? Hope they renew it for a 2nd season.
Obama has taken on full responsibility for the economy when they passed the TRILLION $ spending bill. Now a 450 BILLION $ 7 *SEVEN* month budget is on tap, not to mention other money already spent and massive expansion of government into energy, health care, financial system, auto industry, etc., on cue for THIS year. Nor does this count the TRILLION $'s Gertner says he "may" want. Ya, you bet Obama has responsibility for this economy.
And if you haven't noticed since Jan 2009 to NOW, a whole month later, there has been a loss of 2000 points. When Barrack speaks, spreading his message of hope as noted above, the market dives. This drop is far from over. We will drop to 6k and lower before we see 8k again.
This neo-socialist is going to keep on plowing ahead regardless of the consequences, short or long term. He's spent years, staring at the coal on his cig, twisting it to an fro, thinking, taking a deep long drag, then visualizing what a total takeover of the capitalist system in the U.S.would entail. We're approaching critical mass here, this guy has totally lost his mind. ..kinda like when Axlerod leaves the room.
Corporations don't pay taxes, consumers do. It's passed right along added to the cost. It's that simple. We get it, unfortunately the "Messiah" doesn't. Not much tangible profit in "community organizing".
Ponzi scheme's collapse on themselves. They need the fresh $$$ to keep paying out. Obama's Jusice Dept. is still looking for the men's room at Jusice and hanging up photos of Obama and Bill Ayers, Obama and Lenin, and Obama and Stalin. (psst…the last two were photo shopped, don't tell Holder!)
Find a union "big wig" and punch him in the face. Then ask him why he priced manufacturing jobs OUT of the country. He'll call you a liar then sic Rocco and Guido on you. You'll have to pull the kids out of school and relocate, but you'll know who's to blame.
Obama has two giant ears, but a big mouth hitched to a massive EGO. Results? Poor and dropping…
So, Churchill would have been better off to appease Hitler since you say Hitler had no beef with England. God damn, you are dumb.
You were branded a traitor or an appeaser? God god, that branding must of hurt. You know, calling morons like you names should be outlawed or something. Ask president Hopey to help you out.
Correction:
Primary rule: Libs accuse people of being involved in criminal behavior, then judge shop to make it true.
Converse rule: Libs select people who are actually involved in criminal behavior, and place them in positions of authority and responsibility to function on the behalf of the people, (they say).
Geitner the Apostle can't make TurboTax work, but is the only one who understands economics at this critical juncture?
PBHO j'accuse everyone to be fiscally responsible while he and his party spends like a drunk guy at a strip club?
This Administration loots the producers who make the USA work on the behalf of people not bright enough to get a better job than McDonalds, or can't find, get, or keep homes, bathrooms, kitchens, or a car that they can't even get gasoline for?
PBHO declares "Crisis", then for the jollies of it, leans INTO it, not away, as a component of "Change"?
Libs, delusion is a treatable disease. Seek treatment now before healthcare fixes makes it unavailable to you.
And while the Messiah has so many things up in the air, we almost miss out on his other scams. No secret ballot to vote for unionization. Wiping out Charitable deductions (wiping out churches). Wiping out home interest deductions (great way to stimulate home ownership). And let's not forget the overt politicization of the census. (he that draws the borders gets the election).
This new Prez is a scam artist and has been a liar from day one. He cares not one thin damn about getting the country moving in the right direction. He cares about expanding socialism, cementing leftist policies, and greatly expanding the role of government. Next time you see an Obama sticker on a car bumper please thank them for me. Only a witless drooling idiot could have pulled the lever for this scam artist.
You're presenting an argument made up of equal parts straw and stupid.
Used to buy in to this anti-union stuff but not any more. Read that book. Bankers are the problem, not Unions.
Had to make the world safe for International bankers, right? Most of what you think you know is a lie.
The charitable deduction cancellation is one of the dumbest things he could do, and the power grab of the census is one of the scariest. Faith based initiatives move over, (more like roll over dead), here comes the religon of Govt.! Where have we seen this in history before?
Its not a cancellation, it's a reduction, 35 percent to 28 percent. Don't let those pesky facts get in the way…
“Major bank owners will stimulate the working class to buy more and more expensive goods, houses, machines, forcing them to take big loans, and then those loans will be not able to be repaid. These unpaid loans will result in banks having to declare bankruptcy and then they will be nationalized by the state.”
Do you think this is what Obama decided to do? It is certainly what has been happening in recent months.
Now read the rest of the quote.
“That will lead to communism.”
Is this what Obama has in mind??
Wonder who really came up with this idea? Karl Marx, circa 1867!
Makes you wonder.
What's that about AIG?
Here's a little something about AIG's contributions to Congress.
http://209.157.64.200/focus/f-news/2083881/posts
Maybe I need glasses, but could you tell us what that second name on the list is?
Whoopsie!
Lousy stupid facts.
Now THAT is some top notch comedy, sir. Well done.
I would add:
"Mr. Biden……has no grade point."
=Speaking of Ponzi scheme's, what is SS and Medicare? What is the current stimulus bill? =
As I said, if you guys believe the BS in this post, you are what is known as an easy mark.
Be more specific. Are you suggesting that the Big Moca's plans are not as worthless as a Ponzi scheme?
Sir, you have absolutely no concept of what Halliburton is or does, other than the evil entity you and other clueless dopes think it does. What other companies do what the evil Halliburton does? Do you even know that Halliburton is a real, publicly traded company, rather than a talking point that leftards use to try to end an argument? By the way, I owned a ton of shares in Halliburton until a few years ago and made a "killing"!
I was heavily invested in the markets until Comrade Pelosi took charge in the 2006 House shake-up. I immediately sold all of my stock when the Dow was at 12,500, which was the smartest thing I ever did. The Dow almost broke through 7000 today. Coincidence???
Stop the nonsense, you and the other great unwashed certainly broke the law. Too bad you weren't waterboarded, you probably could use a bath.
Facts? You mean like Bush stole the election, or Bush lied? Those facts?
Or are you implying, by calling us easy marks, that we're just getting fleeced? All Americans are getting robbed here, so we are all easy marks together.
I buy it except for the online med record bit. I work for a electronic health record software vendor (one of the big ones), and the government isn't looking to own us. Yet. Jeffrey Immelt, though (GE CEO), is one of Obama's advisors, and his company is in the same business we are in. That's what most people call conflict of interests, and that pisses me off. It's like people suing McDonald's, but Ray Kroc is on the jury.
I heard he used to eat small children… orphans… with puppy sauce.
It's funny you should mention this Dr. Mantis. I was just reading about Halliburton in the mentalpedia. Turns out, that they do in fact own a secret volcano lair and that their stated goal is to destroy the earth. Looks like our friend here is right about that one.
He's wrong about KBR though, the Keebler elves just make cookies, nothing more.
Reminds me of a Simpsons Treehouse of Horror: Kane and Kotos are posing as Dole and Clinton. In one of their debates, one of them says:
"We must go Forward, not Backward! Sideways, not Forward! And ever Twirling, Twirling!"
It's all part of the theme of socialism. If you reduce charitable giving, the only group people can turn to in times of crisis is the government.
On your other point, why is it socialists love to have their militaries goosestep (Germans, Russians, Chinese, N. Koreans)? Why not just march like everybody else? My favorite march is the French Foreign Legion's slow march… slow and cocky.
Yeah, not only that but Halliburton got no bid contracts in Kosovo too!
oops, wait a minute…wrong whipped war-that one was "cool".
Toga toga toga. So basically, the Obama administration should be renamed "National Lampoon's Obama House." That actually works for me…
Well I have seen a president this pessimistic and negative. And his name was Jimmy Carter.
Welcome to Jimmy Carter's second term.
Multiply by 100, math guy, and what do you get?
Porkulus.
Beg to differ. Watching our stocks plummet as the strike against Boeing dragged on for forever it seemed as the company was held captive by the unions just to have stocks plummet even further once everybody went back to work because the assembly line was behind schedule all the time the heads of the unions are getting fat bank accounts while union members receive 150 USD for a month compensation from the union which wouldn't cover the grocery bill of a family for 4 for a week. One run on sentence to say it is the union's fault as well as the bankers fault as well as our fault for living as debtors!!! What a crime we've committed against ourselves and our children and theone isn't helpin matters because he's increasing the debt and putting on our grandchildren! Everyone: throttle back!
I like it!
great paraphraze!
Tell me again: it's ONLY been a month? It feels like It's already been four years. You are so right in that last paragraph. It's time for us to cut up the credit cards, buy what you can afford, live on a budget and set a good example for those dumbs@#%s in Washington D.C. IF that will work. I doubt it because they are the least observant people on Earth. Talk about the blind leading the blind (well, mostly blind). Any libs on this blog? Can you please wake the frak up??
So true. Let's see them try asking questions at press conferences during the next four years.
