Entertainers Who Spread Racism Rewarded By NAACP

After drawing the ire of the NAACP for challenging their resolution against alleged Tea Party racism, Breitbart’s Big Government set off the blogosphere with video of Shirley Sherrod, a government official speaking at an NAACP-sponsored event, drawing cheers and laughter from her audience while recounting a time when she denied help to a white farmer solely because of his race. While Ms. Sherrod went on to make a point about looking past racial differences, these questions remain: why did no one speak up? Why was there only positive feedback from the audience at this point in the story?
For which group is there more evidence of members assenting to racist comments: the Tea Party or the NAACP?
While the national leftist media outlets continue to fall over themselves trying to figure out a spin on the story that sticks, we at Big Hollywood thought we’d double down with some analysis of the NAACP’s treatment of racism in the entertainment industry.
For 41 years, the NAACP has awarded “Image” awards to black entertainers who achieve excellence in the arts. Despite its rightful role in celebrating the accomplishments of people of color in the arts, the awards show has also been beset by controversy. Several nominees and winners of awards have engaged in openly racist behavior. For example, Jamie Foxx, a winner of multiple NAACP Image awards, called Miley Cyrus a “little white bitch” who should “catch chlamydia on a bicycle seat.” The NAACP has yet to comment on Foxx’s remarks. Going beyond hatred for one white person, rapper Ice Cube released a song in 1993 titled “Enemy,” with lyrics that state:

You gonna grow old holdin’ crackers’ hands
Before you hold each others’ hands?
You gonna walk with your enemy
Before you learn to walk with one another?
How sick can you be? …
Please don’t [shoot] til you see the whites of his eyes,
The whites of his skin, the whites of his lies.
Two years later, Ice Cube was nominated for an Image award for his role in the film Higher Learning.
His other songs are reprehensible as well. “No Vaseline” makes derogatory statements about Jews, but the actual focus of the song revolves around anally raping and shooting/lynching his former N.W.A. colleagues. “Black Korea” is unabashedly racist against Asian-Americans. After peppering the song with slurs (“Oriential one-penny counting motherfuckers,” “little Chinese motherfucker,” “your chop suey ass”), Mr. Cube says, “So pay respect to the black fist/ Or we’ll burn your store right down to a crisp.” Sounds a little too close for comfort to the racially incendiary art of another Image award winner. No NAACP statement has ever been made condemning his endorsement of racially motivated violence.
As is commonly criticized in rap lyrics, the “N” word is all too often used and abused. Jay-Z and Whoopi Goldberg have each stated that they use the term to delineate brotherhood and try to co-opt its original hateful meaning, which I understand completely. I can’t count the number of times I’ve called myself an evil neocon in jest, attempting to turn a stupid pejorative into a word with no power to intimidate or silence any person by grouping him or her with a label that immediately assigns hate and ostracism. But in rap music, the use of “n*gger” is often derogatory, not uplifting. Consider lyrics from Image award winners R. Kelly, Tupac Shakur, and—oh yes, nominee Jay-Z. Perpetuating the “N” word’s use as a hateful and demeaning slur against African Americans is exactly what the NAACP should be denouncing, not rewarding.
And for these artists, the racially insensitive expressions are not limited to lyrics themselves. In the music video for “Run This Town,” a collaboration between Jay-Z, Kanye West, and Rihanna (all three are Image winners & nominees), the artists lead a flame-engulfed riot, dressed in outfits similar to groups that promote racially motivated violence: the PLO (keffiyehs), the KKK (pointed hoods—but they’re black!), and the Black Panthers (plain, all-black shirt & pants with black beret—but, of course, this could just be a reference to beatniks, right?).
And, to top it all off, this past year the NAACP gave an Image award to Van Jones, the former Green Jobs Czar who casually singled out “white polluters,” stereotyped that “only white suburban kids shoot up schools,” and decried Israel’s “occupation” of Israel. Benjamin Jealous gave Jones the NAACP President’s Award at the 41st annual Image Awards. “Van Jones is an American treasure,” he reasoned.

Now, the temptation here is to use the tactics of the left, to declare these men and women wholly bad and to disregard any artistry, charity, or basic humanity for which they should be shown respect. To do that, or to label the NAACP as an organization that tolerates and welcomes racism as the Left has labeled the Tea Party movement, would be disingenuous and irresponsible. One person making racist statements or statements construed as racism indicates nothing about the people who constitute the majority of and define the values of a group. But let’s look at how said majority has reacted to racism in both the Tea Party and the NAACP.
This last April 15th, a small movement of agent provocateurs mobilized to try and embarrass Tea Partiers at nationwide protests. In several locations, individuals espousing white supremacy or other hateful sentiments were booed and forced away from the crowd. Whether these people were leftists trying to forge some evidence for the “Tea Partiers are Racist” meme or genuine racists trying to piggyback off the Tea Party’s popularity, the overwhelming majority of Tea Party members showed that racism has no place in their movement.
Compare this with the NAACP’s reaction to clear racism in both the political and entertainment world. Ms. Sherrod’s remarks, before revealing her change of heart, were greeted by her audience with murmurs of approval, chuckles, and absolutely no objections. Reverend Jeremiah Wright’s audience has been a tad more enthusiastic in response to his hateful comments, with no rebuke from Mr. Jealous’ organization. The NAACP has nominated the aforementioned artists for Image awards, given them the prizes—sometimes more than once—and never once condemned their openly hateful speech. At the very least, even if the opportunity to deny an artist a nomination has passed, the organization could issue a statement saying that such behavior is not appropriate for those who have been honored with Image awards.
The NAACP ought to hold those it designates as role models for the black community to higher standards than this. If it continues to ignore the propagation of racially incendiary and violent expression, the group has no leg to stand on when condemning the Tea Party.

And her EDITED story was about transcending race to help that white farmer – among others who went on the air this week to puncture a whole in Breitbart's sleazy tabloid tactics.

How exactly does her story differ from the Tea Party aiming to help people who suffer under Obama's reign of terror other than Obama's policies haven't directly killed anyone? The Tea Party has absolutely nothing to do with race and Breitbart was merely calling out that someone making up stories and passing condemnations that the Tea Party is racist should probably try to condemn actual racism that was cheered in front of their own crowds. Can you explain why the NAACP members cheered her when she lamented that the white farmer tried to show he was superior or how they appreciated the story of how she "did enough" to help the farmer rather than the comments that it wasn't about race? Additionally, could you elaborate on Sherrod's comments that "it is about black and white" but also about class warfare?

Don't forget Ice Cube's song called "Cave B*tch" which talks about how much he hates white women. Someone should ask the thespian if he sees any irony in the fact that the white people he espoused so much hatred for in his music are now supporting his movie career and if that makes him uncomfortable being cheered by people that he demeaned, ridiculed and wished harm upon.

The story isn't about Sherrod. Its about the NAACP's reaction to her story. They started applauding and agreeing long before she got to the part about transcending race. That's the point.
What's even more hilarious is the way the White House and NAACP reacted to the video release.
What that shows is how scared they are of losing the political sucker punch of referring to people who don't agree with them as racist in order to dodge a rational debate.
I know that's a lot of info there, read it over a couple of times, let it sink in, and then if you want to try a rational debate on the subject, reply to this comment.

The poster is just following orders, handed down from Alinsky on high. The story was that a group condemned (non-inherent) racism in the Tea Party but they didn't condemn the racism in their own groups. In fact, their own group applauded it and cheered it on. There is a fundamental flaw in any outrage about black racism. No, racism is never a good thing – it's based on hate, and that's something that can never be defended. But arguments decrying black racism, like the ones that led to Ms. Sherrod being so ill-used, are at core just a defense of white racism. The best defense is a good offense. Any wise parent knows the fallacy of giving credence to the 'She hit me first' or 'look what she did to me' cry of the bullying sibling.
What we need in this country are people who can move beyond racial division, stereotypes and fears, and preach the common good, decency and brotherhood of all races. Ms. Sherrod is such a person. That she would be vilified for her public and courageous stance in support of the healing of racial animosities, is a powerful statement about the motives and interests of those who prepared, released, and celebrated the edited video clip.

DoS attacks come under the heading systematic attacks. That's where the hacker(s) use computer programs to attack a server. For example if they know a userID but not the password, they write a program that runs through every possible password until one of them works.
To protect against these sys attacks, we have programs running that count the number of attempts to log in. When a threshold is reached, usually 5 failed attempts, the bells and whistles start going off, called alerts.
If a hacker knows what that threshold is, they can plan attacks where they would, for example, only try four attempts from one IP address, then move on to another, and pick up where they left off.
As long as they're smart enough to keep below the alert threshold using any single IP address source, they can pretty much do what they want and no one notices.
However, this type of sys attack has its own issues, how do you get access to a wide range of IP addresses? The most common method is to use a computer virus called a trojan horse, which is stashed away in another program, and widely distributed. Then at a given time and date, they all kick off and bombard a server. Microsoft Outlook was a prime candidate for that. Simply previewing an email was enough to infect a Windows system.

My point is there was a reason Miss Black America was invented. There was a need. In cases like those, I have no problem with continuing it.
Now if some clown came up a Black PGA tomorrow, that would obviously be racist, since there is no need for it (thank you Tiger Woods). But traditions that predate the civil rights movement, if they want to keep holding them, I have no problem with it.
I've spent considerable time trying to find out the origins of the term. I think the earliest reference I've found was Pat Moynihan the NY senator used it in the 1970's. Again, working from memory here, if I'm wrong, apologies.
The best current definition I've come up with is politicians who campaign as small government, low tax conservatives, who upon getting to Washington, suddenly realize they love big government and high taxes, as long as they are the ones making the rules.

White racism is a culture, institutions and ideology that developed over a 400 year period with the economic motives of taking land from the indigenous people of North America and kidnapping black people from Africa to provide the labor. That is how white racism got to be such a powerful and negative influence in this country. You can't wipe out that history and that reality by concocting up some theory of 'black' racism. The vast majority of slaves taken from Africa were captured and sold into slavery by their fellow Africans who sold them to Europeans or Muslims. The majority of slaves (~14 million) went to Muslim lands. About 12 million were brought to the New World and of those, about 500,000 were brought to what is now the USA.
Slavery was ROUTINE in Africa for hundreds if not thousands of years. It was quite common for tribes or villages to enslave their fellow Africans.
Looking at how many Africans treat each other these days, it's obvious that they should be the focus of healing, not the developed countries.
The import and export of slaves from the USA was made illegal on 1/1/1808.
The USA did pretty good at eradicating slavery, considering how a system created by Africans and Europeans was foisted the system upon us. They, plus the Muslims and places like Brazil were the primary beneficiaries of slavery.
Notwithstanding the above, it is true that white individuals and institutions in America did some horrible things to blacks.

-Does that type of discourse send the message that no matter what happens we will never forgive and any time we disagree with you on substantive policy issues we will remind you of slavery and Jim Crow?
-Will that type of discourse help or hurt race relations in this country?

Slavery was present in every early civilization as it emerged barbarity. Some Africans sold people they had no right to sell just as some native Americans 'sold' land that didn't belong to them. So Europeans "bought" people and land, always at the point of a gun, from those that had no right to sell them. What was new in America and very different from what had existed universally in the ancient world and even in the 17th century was slavery under capitalism – a different animal entirely.
And it was African slavery under capitalism that build this country because every early industry including shipping and manufacturing in the northeast was dependent on tobacco and cotton grown by slaves. The U.S. made human beings property in its laws and constitution. No other modern country has taken slavery to that extent.
The South made the slave trade illegal in 1808 so that they could enhance the value their of domestic slaves. Africa was robbed of both people and resources to build up the U.S. It has been screwed with by most Western countries who set up bribed regimes, give arms to groups they influence, and even today do whatever to assure that those poor countries continue to deliver coltrane for our cell phones at a 'reasonable' price.
The U.S. has never eradicated slavery all together. Example, before Angola, LA was a prison it was a plantation. After the civil war many of the ex-slaves were arrested on trumped up changes and put right back to work on the plantation now term 'prison farm' without pay. This continues to the present day.
The U.S. didn't make slavery illegal until 1865 and it took a very bloody civil war. England eliminateed slavery in it colonies in 1832. And how exactly was slavery 'foisted' on us?

I'm sorry, but Ms. Sherrod is no saint. She might have been thrown under the bus too quickly — personally I would have welcomed a more thorough investigation into her activities, starting with her hiring in the first place — but she is not "ill-used" and she's not a martyr. And she will be the weight that pulls the Dems down on the race issue.

Racism is far more than an individual opinion or statements. In the last century the U.S. killed more than 3 million 'gooks' in Vietnam. That was a white racist war, meanly conducted by the U.S. There is no equivalent 'black racism.' Just not liking someone of a another color doesn't make you a racist. Racism is a question of power and black people don't have it. At 0:53 after Sherrod says "While he was trying to show how superior he was to me, I was trying to decide how much help I was going to give him." There is a little laughter. But laughter at what? Laughter at the irony that he was "trying to show how superior he was" while she was trying to decide how much help to give him. But in no way can you conclude that they were supporting her discrimination back in 1984 because at 1:10 when she says "So I didn't give him the full force of what I could do." This statement is met by complete silence. No support from the audience, and isn't this when you would expect it, if they were 'racist.' Again biggovernment is distorting the facts to divide the people.
