ObamaCare: Facts are Stubborn Things
by Endre BaloghThe White House Blog on Tuesday, August 4th titles an entry “Facts Are Stubborn Things.” In it is posted a video of Linda Douglass, the Communications Director for the White House’s Health Reform Office, trying to diffuse criticism of the Obama Health Care takeover by showing two clips of President Obama re-stating his oft-heard yet irrelevant contention that the new Health Care “Reform” bill will not take away the health care options of anyone who likes his or her current provider. Of course, facts are stubborn things, and the facts (read: common sense) stubbornly refuse to support Obama’s talking point.
Anyone with a rudimentary understanding of economics knows that what he is saying is patently false. The moment the government nationalizes medical insurance, it will undercut all other insurers since the Government doesn’t need to make a profit, whereas insurers do. Employers, always mindful of their bottom line, will immediately transfer over to the Government plan and all ability of the insured to choose their provider will be lost. The resultant overload of the government system will force the rationing of health care services. Soon, the other insurers will be forced out of business and Voilà!, we will have arrived at the goal, previously stated by the President and others like Barney Frank, of a single-payer, Government-run system–just like the failing, overburdened socialized medicine systems of Canada and England.
Now, since facts are stubborn things, the only way the Obama Administration and Congressional Democrats can contend with facts that contradict their unfounded assertions is to demonize their opponents. Nancy Pelosi makes bizarre and fantastic claims that opponents of the Health Care Industry takeover arrive at Town hall meetings displaying Swastikas! Barbara Boxer makes up wondrous tales of “well-dressed” yet angry “mobs” who must (obviously) be paid by nefarious rabble-rousers to undermine the saintly agenda of the President. Instead of their concerns being addressed, these eloquent common folk, fired by the passion of their convictions and legitimately dismayed by the direction our country is going in, are dismissed across the board by Democrat legislators as mere rabble. Is this what our Founders envisioned as a representative form of government?
Still, one can easily write off the flailing response of legislators who see their unbridled quest for power being undermined by a populace informed of the stubborn facts. Much more frightening, is what is written next on that White House blog:
There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.
So, let me get this straight: the same people who went ballistic over a supposed “invasion of privacy” because the Bush Administration dared to use computerized (read, mechanical) monitoring of phone lines to ferret out domestic terrorists, are now asking that personal e-mails and “casual conversation(s)” that disagree with the Party Line be reported to the Feds? If I dare to send my friends an e-mail that contains some stubborn facts – leave aside this highly public article – will I be visited by the “men in black”? Maybe I should get my tax records in order for the coming IRS audit.
Anyone who has read Jonah Goldberg’s seminal history book Liberal Fascism will immediately recognize what is going on here. Leftist ideology, to the large extent that it is indistinguishable today from Fascist ideals, depends largely upon shutting down the free flow of information. Furthermore, as the supposed “Health Care Crisis” and the “Climate Change Crisis” so aptly illustrate, the modern Left (a far cry from classic Liberalism) needs to manufacture crises to get it’s agenda passed before anyone can understand or object. After all, it’s all those stubborn facts that keep getting in the way of “transformation,” and one way to insure that a crisis remains a crisis is to limit public access to those doggone stubborn facts.
There was a huge “crisis” that needed Congress to immediately pass the “Stimulus” bill. Over a thousand pages long, it couldn’t wait long enough for the members of Congress to read it. Forget the Obama campaign promise to have a five-day period for public comment before any bill is passed. No, the “crisis” was too great to spare even a moment’s delay. Of course, once it was passed, the Obama Administration took several days to arrange a wastefully expensive photo-op bill-signing in Denver. So much for urgency.
As it is, we as a people, are already deep into uncharted territory when it comes to the effects of an unprecedented expansion of Government spending and control of our personal lives. Everyone–Left, Right, or Center–should be very alarmed by the kind of rhetoric coming from the White House that I quoted above. The White House is now explicitly asking us to snitch on our neighbors. In this great country, the foundation of our freedom depends upon our ability to know and disseminate the stubborn facts and then debate their consequences. Let’s all make sure that those pesky, stubborn facts can continue to be freely spoken.

Get out there and fight–attend a Town Hall and protect senior citizens from Obama's thugs, like those who attacked protestors yesterday, jam up the White House informer line with useless e-mails, ask tough questions of your elected officials, tell people about what that arrogant prick in the White House is trying to do–get out and fight like hell.

It is becoming a fact in itself: if Obama says something this moment, he is contradicting either something he has previously said, or something he will say in the future when the facts of the present moment get in his way.
It's not so much he is lying, which is the case regarding statements past, but rather that he can't be counted on to maintain consistency, unless, of course, it has to do with maligning or mis-representing anything conservative or anti-Obama. (Forgive my redundancy – anti-Obama is conservative).
Is he lying if his lips are moving? Maybe not for the moment, but give him time. Like Wimpy begging a hamburger today for which he will pay you tomorrow, what Obama says today will become a lie tomorrow.
The facts guarantee it.

the problem that you Republicans continue to seem to have is perhaps better summed up like this: no subtlety.
today Palin, on Facebook:
"The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s 'death panel' so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their 'level of productivity in society,' whether they are worthy of health care,"
the pile of your myths about health care reform just gets higher and deeper! And that's where you backfire. You are just too damn over the top with it. and your duplicitous agenda becomes exposed and obvious.

News anchors ask town hall people who is organizing you? They do not understand that is is President Obama, Congress, the deranged media, ACORN, SEIU, and moveon.org . They think Americans are stupid and just sit home and watch reruns. When you ask the President details about the plan for Health care he points to Congress. Congress says they don't have details. We have seen bills passed without being read. If Congress wants to pass Trillion dollar bills without reading them and the President wants to sign them, then of course people have a right to be upset.
Read the Bills Congress. President Obama have a news conference when you have knowledge of what you are considering signing. Give the people a month to know facts when you hand us a Trillion dollar bill. Then you may get support or not.

Traitors, each and everyone of the people mentioned above and their lemmings who are practicing Big Brother politics of fear and intimidation through misinformation and goon tactics. We The People will not stand idly by any longer! Enough is enough!!!
I myself have been informing on Chris Matthews, Kieth Olberman, David Schuster, Janeane Garafalo, Bill Maher and Michael Moore. Am I wrong for doing that? They said turn in people giving misleading information about health care right. I'm just doing what I'm told and goosestepping along. Thanks Obama.
Go find a Town Hall meeting and try to beat up some senior citizens, you demagoguing parrot.
It would almost be worth seeing the Dear Leader get what he wants, just to see the look on your face when you have to wait six months for major surgery, and are told you as a senior citizen have a duty to die and save costs on the over-weighted single-payer system that arrogant prick you mindlessly support put in place.
enlighten us, genius
Another stupid fact-free post by this most annoying of trolls. He is unable to refute one single fact in Governor Palin's message, so he resorts to mindless repetition of what his masters in the Democratic Party told him to think.
CD is a total fraud–when backed in to a corner and forced to deal with issues like the physical violence union enforcers are using to silence dissent in town hall meetings, or the ominous move of the White House to encourage people to report anti-Obama behavior, he falls back like the mental midget he is on name-calling and sloganeering.
Ah, Chicago-style politics.
You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours.
Too bad the folks outside of Cook County don't want to play by those rules. This is going to get messy.
I have already sent as many Nigerian 409 "get rich" lists as I can, as well as leaked info that Obama would send money to them if they wrote an impassioned plea about needing a car, a new kitchen, etc.
I need more "Rick Rolled" websites, peni$ enlargement, br east augmentation, Hillary's rant about dissent being patriotic, old Obama AFL-CIO single payer health care speeches, and various video of seniors being pushed around, AARP Presidents being chased off the stage, and an intercut video of SEIU thugs beating a St. Louis, Missouri black conservative mixed with Selma, Alabama film of water cannons and German Shepherds.
Keep up the pressure, people. Don't give them room to breathe. Press forward!
LOL It thinks we are all Republicans and people like Sarah Palin speak for us. You simple little fool not everyone puts on one jersey or the other. Not every one picks a side. So coming on here and accusing everyone here of being a Republican is foolish.
People are free thinking. The only reason why most of us pick one side or the other is thats all the choices we really have. So I mind you to just shut up and go away. This is a free thinking zone and your little troll antics are annoying. Go to some other site for nitwits like you.
Peter Breitbart may be a Republican I don't know, I don't care. The writers here write some decent articles with an entertainment industry slant that may be conservative but by no means sponsored by some stupid political party.
Once again this a free thinking zone. Go away or contribute something of substance.
There's a great story about what's happening in France right now with their government driven plan. I'll see if I can find it, it's not good. Tey're beginning to have very dire $$$ problems which are resulting in, ta dah!…rationing.

We've been promised over and over and over that anyone who wants to keep their present health care can do so.
Don't you people listen?
So today someone supporting the reform bill said to me that he had a small business and had to buy overpriced health insurance for his few employees.
So I asked him to confirm that his employees would be allowed to keep their present insurance if they preferred to do so after Obama Care was available…. since Obama has promised that they could do so.
I am still waiting for a response.
fact free? Its a fact: Palin said that on Facebook. Show me a fact that backs up any of the b.s. she stated!
"ominous move of the White House to encourage people to report anti-Obama behavior"
more of your lies. the White House requested people forward emails containing the rightist lies- don't believe me? go look it up!
name calling? well you just called me a troll and a liar. I've done nothing worse.
maybe you will get a clue in 2012!
So I am just assuming that you have read the proposed Legislation of both the House and the Senate and can enlighten the rest of us. Please give us more than an cursory "Trust Me". In the words of one of the those brainless, yet vocal protesters – A senior citizen by the way – "You want to ram this down our throats in a matter of a few weeks, when it took President Obama over 6 months to decide what kind of dog to get his family".
In a published ethics paper entitled "Principles for allocation of scarce medical interventions" (which is available here http://www.ncpa.org/pdfs/PIIS0140673609601379.pdf ) Rahm Emanuel's brother, Ezekiel Emanuel, recommends prioritizing younger patients over older ones in rationing scarce medical resources.
He writes, "although life-years are equally valuable to all, justice requires the fair distribution of them." In his estimation it is supposedly less fair to allocate resources to older folks who have already lived out more of their life-years.
I fear that under a government-run health care system, which is impossible to fund to a level which eliminates scarcity, patients will eventually be forced to plead their cases before an impersonal bureaucratic panel who will subjectively decide who is unworthy to receive "scarce medical intervention" based upon "principles" in whose development the patient has had no influence. At least in the private system, the patient has more decision-making power over his own care.

Oddly it's recommended story by Mother Jones!
Mother Jones: Kevin Drum recommends a story in the Wall Street Journal today about France’s health-care system. Drum says:
great logic. There's no reason our universal health care be like France's any more our military would be like France's.
We can have 100% Pro American Universal Health Care. USA! USA! USA!
And why the heck not?!
Linda Douglass = Miss Information
One of the best limits we used to have for this objectionable behavior was to tar and feather the politician(s) involved and ride them out of the town, (state? nation?), on a fence rail.
Ah, the good old days, when we weren't so "civilized", and our society was so much safer than nowadays…
I sent this link and said I thought Macon Phillips' blog entry was really fishy.
http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/Facts-Are-Stubborn...
obama and his administration are going to be responsible for the second civil war in America. Instead of calling for peaceful rallies and trying to quell peoples fears about this health care plan they're telling their fellow dems to "hit back twice as hard". If that isn't instigating violence then I don't know what is?
Read the report that she's probably referring to for yourself:
"Principles for allocation of scarce medical interventions"
http://www.ncpa.org/pdfs/PIIS0140673609601379.pdf
Written by Ezekiel Emanuel, Rahm Emanuel's brother, it recommends prioritizing some patients over others in rationing scarce medical resources.
don't pat yourself on the back just yet…we're onto "what up!"
Cool, forward the junk and crash the server!
What you said.
People are showing up at Democrat town meetings with the legislation in hand, in dog eared manuscript form. They are quoting passages to Democrat Congresscritters and they are getting lawyerly doubletalk (not that there's anything with that!) and the plain ol', non Union, Brooks Bros. Mobsters aren't happy about the tap dancing by the *People's Servants*! There isn't enough lipstick at Max Factor to smear on this pig piece of legislative excess.
C.D. – o.k., sites like this are mostly for water cooler chit chat. They don't really lend themselves to long substantive treatises. I'll assume you are honest in your beliefs. I think, the actual term was emails that look fishy. The point is, that is a move that is just as scary to opponents of Obama as the alleged domestic spying being of the Bush was to liberals. Libs distrust big business, conservatives distrust big government. Plenty of room to get comfortable distrusting both.
To believe Obama doesn't want single payer universal care is ludicrous. He has admitted that is the end game. The track record of government doing anything cost efficently has not been good. Even the pentagon buys $40,000 airplane tpoilet seats. The country is pretty much broke, and the only way to pull off this added coverage is to ration care. If concern about that is duplicitous, so be it.
"the problem that you Republicans continue to seem to have is perhaps better summed up like this: no subtlety. "
Yeah, you darn Republicans with your saying what's on your mind and not tip-toeing around the holes in Dear Leaders plan!
Republicans may lack subtlety, but they know when someone is trying to get one over on them. Then we have the audacity to call them on it.
BTW – Were Dems being subtle when they were dissing Sarah's downs baby and making fun of her daughter's courage to have her baby instead of taking the easy way out? Sincerely, I do not blame you all for hating Sarah. She is everything good that the Left is not and the difference is stark. Who wants THAT mirror held up for reflection every day?
Republicans do not hate the general Leftist. We pity you.

Sorry, Wanda, but I pretty much hate them. You're a nicer person than I am.
More hate from the left wing whack jobs. Can't spell worth a damn either.
Oh, you are so getting reported for disseminating misinformation!
More bull squeeze from CD:
By "fact-free" I referred to his failure to rebut anything Governor Palin said. Either CD knows what I meant and lied about it, or he is a complete idiot.
Fact: the White House requested citizens to inform on "casual conversations" containing "fishy" information. Beria, founder of the NKVD, forerunner of the KGB, would approve.
Fact: the arbitrarily-appointed White House "Czar" (Commisar would work better) in charge of collecting information gathered through the informer's network is not required to divulge the information collected, or what is done with it.
Fact: the 1000-page Obama-care bill includes a provision requiring all people sixty-five and over receive "counseling" on their health care. As rationing and shortages will be an inevitable result of the single-payer system the Dear Leader supports, that "counseling" will, as Tom Daschle said, recommend or require that the elderly "get out of the way".
Fact: an anti-Obama demonstrator in St. Louis was beaten by Democratic Party thugs, and hospitalized over night for his injuries. http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/news/stories.nsf...
Now, now, dissenter from cognition, I know you want to have friends who are just like you, but we need people to go to these things precisely so they CAN grow a brain and listen. Now just lie back down, and soon someone will come by to read you some more of The Communist Manifesto, that book you like so much.
Buzzard, you clearly haven't read the health care bill. If you had, you would've engaged this thread in an intelligent and civilized manner. But go right ahead; you're very entertaining!
He didn't say she didn't put it on Facebook, moron. He said you couldn't refute one bit of what she said. And replying by putting the burden of proof on him to show she's right, rather than on yourself to disprove her, is a childish tactic and impresses no one. I'd ask you to prove that the "rightist lies" are in fact lies, but you'd probably just ask me to prove they weren't. Trotting out superficial criticisms of Palin and conservatives in general, without putting up the facts to back them with, makes you by definition a troll.
We might help you with a lesson in spelling for starters, BS, but I'm not sure it would take.
Read the bill (part 1).
Specifically, pages 16 & 17, Grandfathered Health Insurance Defined:
1) Specifically prohibits anyone new from being added to existing plans after Y1 (currently defined as 2013, the 1st year of heath care reform)
2) Prohibits any changes in the plan including benefits (1 – any new procedures that are considered common now but weren't covered before cannot be added to the plan as this would be a change in the plan; 2 – If a Dr. drops out of a plan, does that constitute a change to the plan? 3 – If a Dr. wants to participate in a plan, does this constitute a change to the plan? What constitutes a change to the plan is not specifically addressed.)
3) Restricts premium increases for specific risk groups (such as smokers) . So, instead of smokers paying a higher premium or normally getting a higher % premium increase, ALL in the plan must have their premiums increased by the same percentage.
Read the bill (part 2)
Grace Period for Current Employment based Health Plans:
1) plans years beginning 5 years after Y1 (currently defined as 2013, when health care reform is scheduled to begin) must meet the same requirements as apply to a qualified health benefits under section 101 (of the bill).
Since plans in existence prior to Y1 (2013) cannot be changed, how will they be able to compete with the government requirements for health care or keep up with changes in the health care industry after 5 years of no changes? At the end of the 5 years, the plan will be obsolete and discarded as it's not going to meet the government requirements. So, you will only be able to keep your existing employee-based health plan for a maximum of 5 years, which is not what Obama is saying.

So, you will only be able to keep your existing employee-based health plan for a maximum of 5 years, which is not what Obama is saying.
Read the Bill (part 3)
Since existing plans are prohibited from enrolling anyone new, the premiums coming in to support the plan will eventually cause the plan to be unsustainable. Some plans need a minimum enrollment to make the cost of the plan affordable. Through retirements, death, and people changing jobs, etc., current employee-based plan enrollments can only drop, which means companies will either have to pick up a greater portion of the premium and/or pass that cost on to it's employees and/or pass that cost on to its consumers.
Either way, the plan becomes obsolete in 5 years after Y1 (which is currently defined as 2013) due to the restrictions of not being allowed to change the plan and not being allowed to enroll any new employee. So, you may keep your existing plan but only for a maximum of 5 years after Y1, which is NOT what Obama is saying.
In addition, existing health plans will be prohibited from accepting new members (HR 3200, page 19). So if you quit, get fired, or retire, you have no other option but ObamaCare.
Dude, turn down your caps lock key and turn on your spellcheck.
See, under Obamacare, you wont be able to see a specialist for that inner monologue keyboard illness you suffer from for months. Lord knows you definitley need it.
I think Linda Douglass was a tv journalist in here L.A. for years. So she is his teleprompter-friendly go-to information gal. How apt. How illustrative of the dearth if real journo jobs these days.
Lynn FYI thanks for taking time to post all that info. It's obvious there is a phase out of self-selected care by definition. How can people not see that? Unless there is a proviso that we can keep any doctor we want and negotiate a cash deal with them, and a choice to opt out of insurance altogether, I ain't buying.
Ezekiel? Wasnt he the one that saw all those terrible 'last days' visions in the Old Testament? Wow. That is so not 'valley of the dry bones'…!
You're wasting your time, dude. He's clearly incapable of holding anything like an intelligent conversation. I doubt he even understands that avatar quote of his, he probably just found it somewhere and stuck it up to make himself look smart.
Darn those facts!
Darn them and their pesky "truth" and whatnot!
I'm all for the old methods but can we switch the fence rail from horizontal to vertical?
What this website does is set the bar for further intimidation against those that would question, demonstrate against and speak out against the Obama and his Socialist cronies. Fascism is just around the corner if not already here.
"Furthermore, as the supposed “Health Care Crisis” and the “Climate Change Crisis” so aptly illustrate, the modern Left (a far cry from classic Liberalism) needs to manufacture crises to get it’s agenda passed before anyone can understand or object."
The similarities between what's going on now and Mao's belief in continual revolution are extremely striking.
I like this Bum better at least he's not a Know it All Elitist Fool………He's just A Whack-Job Fool. I know I'm splitting hairs but to each his own.
"…more of your lies. the White House requested people forward emails containing the rightist lies- don't believe me? go look it up!"
Quite seriously… this does not freak you out?
The White House is requesting that people REPORT THEIR FELLOW CITIZENS and this does not freak you out?
What possible difference can it make WHY citizens are being asked to report other citizens to the government?
I mentioned this to you in the other thread talking about fascism. To say that it's "lies" being asked to be reported and not "anti-Obama activity" is irrelevant. Even though the "lies" themselves aren't lies at all but concerns about what *could* happen, how changes to health care *might* play out by people who (gasp) oppose Obama. People are being asked to report those who disgree politically with Obama's policies and I don't think it can be in order to find out what the objections are so that they can be addressed and people's fears answered! All anyone in government has to do to find out *that* is listen to the "mob" that is trying so desperately to TELL THEM.
People are trying very hard to be heard. The objections to Obama care are not being kept secret someplace. Obama and the pro-Obama care people aren't trying to find out what the opposition are thinking, they are trying to shut them up.
And it doesn't bother you that citizens are being asked to report on other citizens?
It's not a package deal you know… you can still favor Obama care and be freaked out by the fact that he has asked for reports on citizens who oppose him to be sent to the White House.
Instead, we now have civilized barbarism. Give me the old days anytime–these cretins deserve it.
We really don't have to be subtle. I think that is what got us into this mess in the first place. Thank God, more and more Conservatives are finding that they can grow a set and finally speak up. Obama's approval rating and that of Congress just keeps plummetting. They are all shooting themselves in the foot. I say "fine." It will make things that much easier in 2010 and in 2012. God knows that this country could not possibly handle another 4 years of Obama. Also according to the latest Rasmussen Report in the Generic Congressional Ballot survey 43% would vote for their district’s Republican congressional candidate while 38% would opt for his or her Democratic opponent. Fellow conservatives we need to just hang in there and continue to fight. In the long run, we will win.
We have WAY more population and way to many varied interests so this issue is like throwing a huge bucket of chum into a shark tank. The left has dreamed of Euro-style bureaucratic healthcare (even more than now) since forever and there's alot of resistance to ceeding more control to this particular Administration. Sprinkle in some disinformation, and a *enemies* list, a President that has a tad of an arrogant, thin skinned manner, and presto! you have Tampa, St. Louis, etc. Calling in the Union thugs was a nasty turn. If there are pationate people, er lefties that want government care, where are they? By the Rahmbo has warned the ultra left to stop attacking the DEMOCRATS for not pushing single payer Canuckistan style rationing, I mean healthscare.
I am going to have to declare your "Cognitive" representation a non-sequitur.
We have the audio. We have the video. And we have you making excuses for National Socialist eugenics, as per Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, British Medical Journal, The Lancet, which declared his views on who was worthy of medical treatment, and who was not.
Yes, Dr. Emanuel, the brother of Rahm the Chief of Staff, and the MAIN MEDICAL CONSULTANT on "Obamacare".
Funny ol' world, eh? You'd think someone with Rahm's religion would avoid Dr. Mengele. Instead, they adopt his position.
Please, continue. Let everyone know what kind of positions you support.
As the man said after listening to Stenny Hoyer:
"You're lying to me i don't have sophisticated language, but i recognize a liar when I see one".
and he was a Democrat.
<a href=”http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r-wNBDqTt74” target=”_blank”>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r-wNBDqTt74
Here's a "FACT". We already can't afford Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, ????, ????, ad infinitum, and creating another mammoth government bureaucracy/entitlement program will only hasten the demise of our civilization.
Wow…so now my "relegious (sic) values" are taking me "to the pit of hell".
That seems like…confused logic, somehow. And, it's against my religion to "kiss a$$". Sorry.
I'd like for CgntvDssnt to comment on the above post. If he'd be so kind. Since the two of you seem to have so much in common ideologically, that is.
All of them? I differentiate between those that tell people that they will give them everything and that this giving is their form of freedom. Gifts for Americans bought with their own money. Those – I have no use for.
The hopeless dupes – like the mentally retarded – like our CogntvDissdnt (how perfect is that name? – "to disagree with conscious intellectual activity" LOL) – I give them a pass. You try to explain how it is not a gift, but a noose with which they will hang themselves and hope it sticks.
Then there are the greedy that lap up anything, steal anything and whose only hope is that someone else will do their living for them. They are only gonna see the light when they take responsibility for themselves. I put them close to the first group.
I try to keep those I hate limited to the amount I can count out on one hand. Ulcers.

I love how this administration can lie and get away with it on such levels. Sure you can keep your own coverage with this new proposal but it will be so expensive that no one will be able to afford it. You think it's hard keeping your coverage now, wait until your agency jacks up prices to compete with the Government-run garbage, then it will be bad. As for the Communications Director at the White House encouraging people to report "suspicious" activity in Healthcare deabtes, psssh. They can flag me all they want to, but I'm not shutting up about this outlet for Government control! After all, that is all this is about- more Government control. Great article Mr.Balogh!

Sounds "fishy" to me, I'm going to have to report you.
I have read what I consider to be important portions of the various health care bills, and I have read the paper co-authored by Ezekiel Emanuel and published in 2009 titled "Principles for allocation of scarce medical interventions".(You know, when the doctors leave and the money isn't there and there are too many patients, etc.). It is depressing and frightening. Anyone who has an infant or an aged parent should be mortified.____No Democrat or leftist can refute any of our concerns over this plan or these bills. They only attack the opponents. The amount of money it will cost is projected to be 13 TRILLION dollars. It WON'T cover everyone. It will result in decreased care, increased costs, and misery.____And the bottom line is, it doesn't matter what the representatives' arguments or the Presidents' arguments for it are. IF THE PEOPLE DON"T WANT IT, IT DOESN"T GET PASSED!!!! Anyone who is angry had better call their reps and attend some protests. Do it before it is too late.
Here's the URL for that paper:

A bit of advice for those attending town hall meetings and other venues where our "representatives" discuss health care reform. First and foremost have your facts straight. The best way to do that is to obtain a copy of H.R. 3200, the "Health Care Reform Bill", and prepare specific questions on it's more egregious passages. (Yeah – I know this is a pain but it has to be done. It's worth a printer cartridge int he long run.) Take the document with you and ask questions directly fromt he text. Challenge the representative as to whether he or she has actually read the bill and offer to give them your copy. Second, no overly-emotional behavior. Stick to the primary issue that the government is proposing the takeover of a huge chunk of our personal and financial lives. Quote Burke, Paine and Jefferson if asked. Third, if attacked remain dignified. Remind any troll that you are engaging in a basic right that is available to all Americans and don't react when they use the "racist, bigot, greed" bulls__t. Finally have someone there with a video recorder to record the event.
Dear Mr Balogh,
If what you are saying were true, there would be no Fedex, DHL or UPS as the US Mail would have 'undercut' their pricing and driven them out of business a long time ago. While I am not a stong supporter of national health care, you don't seem to possess the "rudimentary understanding of economics" that you are chiding your opponents for lacking. Nor do you seem to recognize the sad state of our national health statistics, which have fallen to near the bottom of the developed world in terms of infant mortality and longevity. If you espouse free market economics, you should also be championing the relaxation of the artificial constraints that the AMA has put on the number of doctors admitted to the profession every year. This has not kept pace with the population growth or health care needs of our nation. We have let the largest and most powerful union in the country, the AMA, limit the nation's access to qualified medical professionals. Just as the UAW put the Big 3 out of business, so the AMA is driving the health care statistics of this country into the basement of the developed world. Statistics don't lie! Something needs to change.
10 Stubborn Facts That Make Americans Stubbornly Reject PORC (PelosiObamaReidCare):
Doctors on Strike for Freedom in Medicine (http://www.doctorsonstrike.com) cites H.R. 3200 with 10 violations of our rights:
1. Forcing people to buy health insurance.
2. Forcing employers to provide health insurance for employees.
3. Forcing one group (wealthy, soda-drinkers, etc.) to pay for the health insurance of another group.
4. Forcing future generations to pay for the healthcare of the present generation.
5. Forcing patients to participate in a government-run plan.
6. Forcing doctors to participate in a government-run plan.
7. Forcing hospitals and other healthcare providers to participate in a government-run plan.
8. Forcing insurance companies to compete with a government-run plan.
9. Forcing insurance companies to write policies that offer coverage for specific conditions.
10. Forcing one group (older Americans on Medicare) to accept reduced benefits in order to fund other public health care plans.
Americans are not stupid. We realize that we must act now to bring a halt to this leftist-led, lemming-like leap into health care he!l. Well, we are mad as he!l, and we are not going to take it anymore!
The politicians are turning a deaf ear to us so we need to crank up the volume until they get the message:
Earth to politicians: Health care is not a right, doctors are not your slaves, businesses are not your banks, the wealthy are not your wet nurses, and patients are not your pawns.

Excellent, well thought out post, doctor.
Let's hear from some of our resident trolls, now. Where is Dr. Garamoni wrong?
LOL. Thanks for the laugh. You need to invest in a heavy duty barnacle scraper or some good bottom paint. That or move your ship to cooler waters. Barnacles grow slower there.
I would label the obstructionists as… unquenchable duplicitous autarchs. Not as catchy as bad barnacle.
Either that, or he thinks that by coming here he's "growing" in some way.
Mike, I don't think Buzzard can read very well, seeing as he can barely write as it is.
If you want to go for real old style, then just the individual's head on a pike. It would be lighter and easier to carry as well.
Well, it's been said that dissension is the highest form of patriotism. Maybe Obama is collecting names through his flag@whitehouse.gov so he can award them all the medal of freedom.
Sorry, we are not controversial. You and your ideological, nanny staters are controversial.
And one look at Obamas ever lengthening enemies list does away with your laughable cry for subtlety. There is nothing subtle about his incompetence and corrupt appointments, but worse is the constant setting of Americans against each other. It seems that every week Democrats come up with another enemy to hate, from "unlicensed" plumbers to cops, doctors, Rush Limbaugh, three or four large industries …
Progressives always work by dividing Americans by class, race or gender. And they are not subtle about it. And you carry their water.
"While I am not a stong supporter of national health care…"
But that´s what you are going to get. That´s what this is about. They are not just doing "something" and they´re not tinkering around the edges. You can oppose them or continue to ride your hobbyhorse.
If Obama was interested in lower costs and better outcomes, we would be allowed an open debate on that, not yet another thuggish ramming home of an unread bill that will cost trillions. Like the stimulus, like cap-and-trade, all big government solutions that will do great social and economic harm. Instead, we have the Democrats smearing the oponents of a plan which does NOT address tort reform, health savings accounts or any other sensible measures.
The statistics may not lie, but they are not comparable between countries. I quote: "America has significant minority populations (which Japan, Canada, and much of Western Europe do not) and these groups have a variety of socioeconomic and historical issues that compromise health outcomes (poverty, drugs, gun violence, out-of-wedlock births, distrust of doctors and non-adherence with medication, follow-up, and diet regimens,). Further, on infant mortality, Western European societies have a lot more abortion and make much less effort to save preterm infants born under 28 or 30 weeks of gestation (such births there are often recorded as stillbirths), whereas in the US, NICUs routinely take care of preemies born at 24 weeks or even younger."
Heck, we have millions who qualify for medicaid but do not sign up. What do you expect?
And then there are statistics on areas where America looks better than any other country, but they do not serve your argument. Or maybe you haven´t been told?
Endre: You know you can’t let the facts thingy get in the way of Barry and his Marxist myrmidons. The next thing that you’ll want is for people to actually get a job ewww…
Why don’t you just stick to playing your fiddle and leave worthlessness to the ones that truly understand worthlessness Endre, the American left.
Funny how the White House efforts to debunk critics are based on the assumption that providing videotape of Obama saying one thing is "evidence" that he doesn't mean what he says to the contrary on videotape somewhere else. I don't think they've clearly thought this through….
I'll tell you how to "parse" Obama's statement: he figures the law doesn't outlaw private insurers DE JURE, i.e., BY outright language. But he knows the law will eliminate them DE FACTO, so in his primitive authoritarian mind he can tell us "truthfully" that we'll still have private insurance.
It's like going to a seafood store and telling them to THROW you the fish you want, so you can go home and tell your wife you definitely, really caught it.
Is that the kind of infantile prevarication what we want out of a President? First he tried to accomplish the medical takeover via his "computerize the medical records" maneuver. Democrats had ried to impose the whole deal by "nibbling around the edges," by expanding SCHIP coverage, elderly coverage, and EVERYBODY's coverage, until there was no one left uncovered. And now Obama is telling us every lie he can think of that might convince some unsuspectibg sucker.
This government of thugs, liars and weasels doesn't care what the people want; they're determined to put over what THEY want.
Ah, the voice of Leftist reason and light. Thank you for sharing.
Gee moron, maybe you should clear up what the false statements were. you lazy liar.
Linda Douglas reminds me of the collaboratist human Journalist in the original "V" mini-series, she sold out her people to be a spokesmouth of the enemy.
In the HBO Miniseries "John Adams" they showed someone getting tarred and feathers.. it looks pretty brutal.. exactly what they deserve.
I got your subtlety right here:

Infant mortality statistics are notoriously biased. In many countries if a baby is born live but dies two days later it is not counted. The US counts all births. And because of aggressive neonatal care in the US, many babies that would be stillborn in other countries are attempted to be brought to term in the US, skewing it more.
Any time you read an article citing infant mortality stats it is a good bet the author is either lazy or biased.
Someone asked me: "Under what provision of the Constitution does the government have the right and/or responsibility to provide health care in any way, shape, or form?"
Here's my answer:
Obama, the former constitutional instructor at University of Chicago, will chew on a few breath mints–perhaps a combination of Euromint and Frisk would be the magic elixir–to help him breath new constitutional life into the Fifth Amendment.
Obama will start the process of stacking the Supreme Court with fascists.
Eric "The Law Unto Himself" Holder will personally argue before the Court that, because the Constitution is now officially a living document, the Eminent Domain clause can be injected with a breath of fresh fascist air and thereby stretched to include not just property, but the human body as well.
Under the "takings clause," the Court will rule that that the government can legitimately claim ownership of people, their bodies, and, of course, their health. Justice Sotomayor, in her unfathomable, and now constitutionally unpardonable, Latina-feminist wisdom, will write an "one sentence" opinion for the majority: "Our decision goes without saying."
(This manner of rendering Supreme Court decisions will establish a new precedent, justified by the need to save taxpayers the cost of ink and paper that were previously spent on wordy opinions.)
We will be literally and figuratively taken. Tom "The Body Snatcher" Daschle will then be appointed "Health Enforcement Czar" with the patriotic mission of "leveling the health care playing field" and "spreading the health around."
Joe "The Plagiarizer" Biden will call on us to adhere to our “patriotic duty” to pay taxes–with the exception, of course, of families making less than $250,000, who are absolved of the duty to be patriotic, and are encouraged to plunder the wealth of the patriotic producers.
Panels of death czars will calculate our useful half-lives. We will all be comforted with our new found meaning in life:
A half-assed, half-life ain't half-bad.

Several writers, particularly Mark Steyn, have accurately identified the real underlying strategy the Dems are using in the health-care "debate." The goal is to get something or anything passed that establishes the administrative concept of a national health care "system." Whether it works or not is completely beside the point. The long-range goal is to establish a bureaucratic bridgehead that can be expanded and manipulated in the years to come. Thus the advocates of health-care "reform" are promising everything to everyone knowing that "mission creep" and bureaucratic expansion will eventually bring every facet of the American health system under governmental control. Naturally they are counting on the fog of "good intentions" to gloss over the details and this includes marginalizing anyone who actually reads the damn bill and asks embarassing questions.

Obamessiatus; infected believe that the anointed one can do no wrong. Rational thought is the first to go with everything becoming the negative of reality; such as ‘evil’ becoming ‘good’, ‘socialism’ becoming ‘free market’, ‘fascism’ becoming ‘freedom’, ‘higher taxes’ becoming ‘tax cuts’ and ‘governmental extortion’ becoming ‘spreading the wealth’.
