‘Call Me Senator’: Let This Video Be My Apology for Once Supporting Sen. Boxer
by David Zucker***UPDATE: This post has been updated for clarity purposes.
I’d like to thank Right Change (who sponsored and are planning an ad campaign to support the spot) and all the wonderful actors and crew who volunteered for the “Call Me Madam” video.
I was motivated to do something on this after I saw the video of Barbara Boxer interrogating Brig. Gen. Michael Walsh.
—–
I remember immediately feeling embarrassed that a member of Congress would treat an officer of the U.S. military like that. And doubly embarrassed that back in the early 90’s I had contributed to Barbara Boxer’s campaign. I was so outraged at the pure arrogance of that moment, that I sat down to write the spot, highlighting the pure absurdity of our California Senator dressing down a Brigadier General for calling her “Ma’am.” No Naked Gun or Scary Movie ever had an opportunity as good as that one for pure ridicule. Never mind that the military personnel are instructed to call their superiors including members of congress ‘Sir’ or ‘Ma’am’, including specifically, Members of Congress!
I thought an apology would have been appropriate, but to my knowledge, none has ever been made by Senator Boxer. This I find distressing, since apologies from public figures nowadays are the norm. I mean, it’s not as if she texted her junk to Brett Favre. This was just arrogantly insulting an army officer. But I guess that’s okay with her.
In her debate with Carly Fiorina, the subject was brought up, but Senator Boxer was quite adept at deflecting it — and still without an apology. Let this video be my apology. Every time I see the public record listing my campaign contribution to Boxer — I wince. I mean, we all have things we’ve done in the past that we’re embarrassed about, but I’d rather have my being restricted to stay at least 100 yards away from elementary schools be public knowledge than that $5,000 Boxer campaign contribution.

Now that was a great video! Love the Chief.
Great video! Had me laughing all the way. It is great to see the conservative actors that showed up in this video.
Very well done.
Don't feel too bad, Mr. Zucker. When I was a kid, I shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die. I mean, that's not quite as bad as what you did, but I think I can kind of relate to your regret. Okay not really. Donating to Boxer? That's messed up.
Hilarious video, especially the cameos by the Good Howard Brother and Zo's face after the Chief says "I take many scalps." Got my office workers wondering why I was laughing so hard this early in the morning.
Amazing. And not only do you cast Clint Howard, but Nick Searcy. Thanks again, one of the best!
PRICELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
.
Now THAT is what we're talking about!
Irony is lost on the elite. When they take their elitism so seriously, there's nothing left to do but mock them into obscurity.
Thanks so much, Mr. er . . . Director Zucker!
That is great!
Just call me kid (I was born with that title).
LMAO, that was freakin' hilarious. Love it.
HAHAAHHAAAAHAAA This made my day !
Thank you!
That was hilarious!
I needed some humor this morning, and mocking Senator-M'am-Boxer was just what I needed.
I'm sure the author "worked so hard" to be funny.
You just knocked it right out of the park!
Wildly American! Humor is making a comeback!
Holy Hilarious Batman! That was a funny video… go ZO!
We all make dumb mistakes. And this funny video more than makes up for yours.
I loved that!! We all make really dumb mistakes – I gave money to NPR before I realized that they held people like me in contempt.
Penance for one's sins is always a good thing =)
Great vid very funny.
I just posted it on facebook. I hope it goes viral. I don't think Babs can handle the nation laughing at her, but she so deserves it.
"I laughed so hard. . ."
Are we havin' fun yet?

Well he did work so hard for the title! That was well done.
CODE PINK OPENLY ADVOCATES THE MURDER AMERICAN TROOPS!
CODE PINK – JERRY BROWN – BARBARA BOXER – HENRY WAXMAN
CODE PINK and JERRY BROWN! Jodie Evans, co-founder of Code Pink, a Marxist FOO (Friends Of Obama) held a fund-raiser for California gubernatorial candidate JERRY BROWN on August 21th, 2010. Code Pink is the same bunch that tried to chase the US Marines out of Berkeley.

DON'T TRUST THAT BULLET-HEAD, PENCIL-NECK WEASEL!
CODE PINK – BARBARA BOXER AND HENRY WAXMAN! Barbara Boxer and Henry Waxman each wrote letters to the American Embassy in Jordan asking that the Embassy assist Code Pink. Patriotism for them is a joke. They do not love this country, nor do they care for those who do.

Hey, Chief, congratulations on adding Senator Boxer's scalp to your collection!
Nicely done.
(I would have left out the chief.)
Heck, I voted for Jimmy Carter. (And just writing that makes me want to take a shower.) Talk about payback: my Congressional reps are now Boxer, Feinstein–and Henry Waxman!
I must say I was surprised to hear the current voice of Yoda show up to tell us to kick this Boxer person out!
Great clip! Thank you for doing it.
Babs deserves every bit of ridicule heaped upon her for that dismissive treatment of the General.
I'm beginning to think that we don't have to expend huge resources to throw the bums out. All we have to do is recycle clips of their behavior for all to see.
I did too. (Blush) In my defense, I was very young. That's why I think the voting age should be raised.
LOL, Mr. Director, The Honorable David Zucker: You are a prince. I forgive you for giving to Boxer in the 90s. You're making up for it now, thank God. Aren't you from Shorewood or White Fish Bay, WI originally?? Well, this fellow Milwaukee area resident is proud that your spoofs skewer the Left so effectively. Thanks for all you do.

GREAT!
Now let's give her the title: Retired—she's worked so hard.
Barbara Boxer owes total respect to the lowliest buck private in the US military. We all do. We call our military THE SERVICE, and they serve us all, literally laying down their lives for the rest of us. Shame on her. And may I say, shame on the rest of us for permitting the metastasizing of a full-of-themselves political class to the point that Barbara Boxer feels no compunction about saying such a thing in front of cameras.
It's amazing how the Corporation for Public Broadcasting is able to hide contempt using tote bags.
An American Carol was and IS awesome! So many great moments in it. I thank you for making that film. I saw it on the big screen and bought a DVD. I hope you get to make more…..in this town….
Great job on this one! Oooh I'm facebooking it!
And Jack Scalia! Awesome.
Loved it. About the only thing missing was Barney Frank asking, "Chief, do you like movies about gladiators?"
Perfect lampoon David, always funny, thanks for the laugh.
This is an excellent ad! Thank you, David Zucker! I wish that you were creating more political ads, especially this season.
That was hilarious, here's to hoping the Stygian Witches in office in CA get the boot….
I love to see a riff of "Airplane" in any context– but that would have been awesome.
That was genuinely funny and effective. Apology accepted.
Really, five large to a politician?
I support Ron Paul but the most he got from me was $100. And that was the first campaign contribution I ever made.
Just think about how much beer that could have bought. Then you would at least have a hang over to show for it.
Why did they use an actress who is so much younger? They should have used Ronnie Wood in drag.
Very well done, Sir.
You just cost me a keyboard with that joke!
Thanks.
I worked so hard for the title of engineer. And all I got for it was I lost my over time pay.
I knew comedy was out there some where. The banality of Stewart & Colbert could only turn up the heat on it.
I feel your pain. I've got Maurice Hinchey, Chuck "U" Schummer and some dumb blond who was picked to fill Hilary Clinton's seat.
Go, she must.
I thought Barney would ask that of the Eagle Scout.
General Turgidson,
Do you really think it can get through? Can our boy's make it?
Brilliantly funny. Yesterday I was thinking to myself it’s a shame there’s not a Conservative SNL considering the plethora of comedic material democrat airheads deliver on a daily basis. The Juan Williams firing could have been satirized in a skit with a row of NPR journalists all wearing the same uniform and goosestepping around the office. One of the goosesteppers could slightly deviate from the approved liberal message and get pilloried by the intolerant left that fancies itself as open-minded and tolerant. Or something like that. One thing is for sure, this shows ratings would dwarf SNL’s.
Mr. Zucker- so glad you have been enlightened by the arrogance of this woman and have seen the light that alls she cares about is her power. Funny funny video. Between this video and the rise of the pledge of allegiance video in Illinois- my friday has started out wonderfully. Thank you.
I think we have a winner!
How about Kieth Richards in drag?
That was great! We want more videos like this!
Who plays Babs? She's kinda hot…
Well, Keith is marginally more decrepit-looking, but I always thought she kind of looked like Ronnie a little.
Good point.
That was my first thought too. But then I decided for the sake of the joke, I needed a more well known name.
Thinking a little more about it, maybe Rod Stewart would have been a better choice.
Ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now that IS hilarious! Mockery, mockery make more mockery! The script writer(s) worked so hard to get this just right. Hopefully Babbles-Bagels-n-Lox Boxer gets the boot up her 'Call-Me-Senator' A$$. This ad was Rip Torn chic. Stay classy Zucker stay Rip Torn classy…
That was freakin' AWESOME! And so many familiar faces! I loved it. Keep it up.
For the first time, I would like to see the ass-end of Boxer heading out the Senate doors. And don't let the door hit ya where the Good Lord split ya!
Boot her out, California! 28 years is 28 years too long.
Yeah, Jack Scalia – another closet conservative/libertarian?
Or did he just need the work?
;-D
I voted for Bill Clinton. But I was a stupid college student that believed in global warming.
And I shook Hillary's hand.
It's since been disinfected of course.
Yes, we all make mistakes. But we can do our penance and rectify those mistakes.
Let's throw Boxer out on her big fat ass.
Good one!
I liked it as well. I loved the beginning with Davi and the terrorists – "Do I have to wear this vest?" "It is part of the uniform." ROTFLMAO!
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha! LMAO! Thanks for that David. I cast my vote against that witch earlier this week via mail in absentee ballad. And let me tell you it felt good!
It's OK. We all make mistakes.
Very funny. Thanks for creating this!
Awesome
I know you 'worked hard' for this one. Nice job, but just call me "Mister" please……After a twenty year career in the military, I worked hard for that title….hahahaha
Loved this! Your apology is accepted! Now please accept my apology for voting Mike Doyle into office here in PA. U.S. Congressional District 14. Here is my litte video, sorry it no way compares to the previous one – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1U76wOvAZ0o

Dude, please tell me that you've cut a 60-second version of this that Right Change + Fiorina's campaign will pay to run in every major media market in Colleefournya starting next Thursday.
Satire is almost always the best means of mocking pomposity…
I don't follow it that closely, but I recall her seat is in peril this year.
I was an idealist–I voted for john anderson in 1980.
Was it polticially incorrect?
NPR sounds pretty analytical, and they are polite. Their political advocacy is done with story choice and the experts they chose to present the sides of the story. For instance, choosing an inarticulate person to give the conservative viewpoint, or using a designate house conservative who is really a moderate liberal–like brooks.
As a (quote en quote) "Native American", I laughed my ass off at that. When we can't laugh at ourselves then we just can't laugh anymore, period. Great spot, David Zucker!!!
I accept your apology Director Zucker.
cool vid!
Ya doesn't have to call me Johnson….
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qoYsfbq3vMc
Thanks David. An instant classic!
Seriously you once supported Boxer? Even when I was 'Liberal' I wasn't that easily fooled. Boxer and Pelosi two fake women that are so easily to see through.
You are forgiven ;o)
Hey David I was a leftist for 15 minutes when I was a sophmore in high school. My dad landed his foot on my backside (not literally OK?) and I realized that nothing I thought they stood for made sense…..I admit it. I am unashamed…..we are here for you man!
YO!!! Check these Pics out… Most important are Pg 2 & Pg 3!! Share with EVERYONE! http://tinyurl.com/2fa8cy9
I love it!
Lots of great cameos, like Zo as the police captain. I'll have to watch that a few more times.
David, thank you so much for doing this video! To the rest of the cast and crew, was an honor being involved that day!
Call me Ishmael! This post reminds me of the famous P.T. Barnum quote: there's a zucker born every minute.
Like Mr. Zucker, I must also admit to helping seat madam Boxer into office back in 1993.
Unfortunately, my full conversion to conservatism didn't happen until after the 2000 election.
I actually voted for Gore but after witnessing the Democrats embarrassing handwringing over Bush "stealing the election" it forever shifted my politics away from liberalism.
Besides, being miserable miscreant all time was becoming exhausting.
Most Honorable David Zucker– LOVE the video. It's great, hilarious, perfect. Can you do one about the firing of Juan Williams vs. NPR and that hideous comment by Nora at NPR about her wish that Jesse Helms would get AIDS?
All is forgiven, Mr. Zucker. The video is laugh-out-loud funny! I sent the link to everyone in my address book.
Was that Ed Ames? It sure looked/sounded like him. I Wiki'd him and he's still around and a big supporter of Israel. Mazel tov from a gentile.
If I'm not mistaken, the Chief was Ed Ames, Mingo from the Daniel Boone series.
Brilliant, just brilliant!
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1276900/ Laura Orrico. She's actually done numerous collaborations with Zo Rachel and Steve Crowder. Here's Stevens Peace Prize video. Thank me later. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PnLqoRtUAVg
Just don't call me Shirley.
I wouldn't. He was the best one.
"Master Yoda" you should call me. Worked hard I have. Many Sith I defeated.
