No Tears for Roger Friedman

Sorry that I can’t cry over Roger Friedman’s firing as a columnist from FOXNews.com.
It’s not just that he ignored the age-old advice–don’t blank where you live/eat/work. And it’s not just that as an entertainment industry writer, he was an uber-liberal who rarely wrote anything of interest and mostly gushed over the vapid celebs he covered.
It’s that left-wing politics dominated his absurd praise of left-wing propaganda on the silver screen and his apologism for extremist Muslims in showbiz.
It’s that he sometimes fancied himself a movie critic and lent the FOX News name to extreme fawning over movies like Michael Moore’s pro-socialized medicine flick, “Sicko,” and Angelina Jolie’s “A Mighty Heart,” which was “Mighty” only in its pandering to Islam and pretending some other force cut up Daniel Pearl like so many chicken parts at the market. Then, other liberal celebs and gals on “The View” would say, “Well, even FOX News like it.”
And it’s that Friedman took it upon himself to question the U.S. government’s decision to turn away Yusuf Islam a/k/a Cat Stevens because of his open hatred of Jews (including, presumably, Roger Friedman), support of HAMAS, his recent past as a HAMAS money-mule, and his defense of the Salman Rushdie death fatwah. Friedman cheered on the absurd reversal of that wise decision to deny Stevens entry into the U.S.
Does that sound like “Fair & Balanced” to you . . . or liberal and what you’d expect on ABC and MSNBC?
It was extremely stupid to brag on your own company’s website that you are stealing from your company and enjoying the crime. But Roger Friedman’s dismissal from FOXNEWS.com was loooooong overdue.

Stupid can be grounds for dismissal.
I love that the right wing is bothered by the fact that a majority of Jews in America are liberal and vote for Democrats. The fact is, most American Jews do understand the threat of Islam to Israel but they are smart enough not to completely chuck out their entire political beliefs because of one cause. In other words, you can full well understand the threats and actions of the terrorists and want to do something about it but you don't have to become a right wing conservative in the process. Don't forget a majority of Democrats voted for the current wars we are fighting.
I agree, I'm not sorry to see him gone. Got tired of reading his crap long ago. He used his column to kiss the asses of celebs he liked, and incessantly fry those he didn't. Farewell to inane rubbish.

Excuse me, but what part of "we want to push Israel into the sea" do these leftist Jews not understand? What part of the Torah commands that they accede to that? Hmmm?? God only helps those who help themselves and right now, Islam is helping itself to quite a bit of the Jewish identity/state/inheritance. I've been hoping that Roger Friedman would get fired for years. I surprised it is over something so stupid, but what can you do? This is the same guy who put Valkyrie on his worst movies of 2008 list before he ever saw it. He was a hack, and I personally hope he never works in the media again.

Cannot stand his using any mention of Mel Gibson or Tom Cruise to launch into another rant about them. Cannot forgive his ridiculous "review" of Valkyrie which included not only putting it on his "worst" list without ever seeing it but also criticizing the content for not focusing on the Holocaust?! Does he think that is the only thing that Hitler did during WW2?

No matter how hard I tried – I could never reconcile how a supposedly conservative site like FOX could hire a reviewer so violently leftist and bigoted as Friedman. I mean, it wasn't as if he tried to hide it. Au contraire – he shoved it in your face every chance he could. So how did he get hired in the first place? It obviously wasn't for his brains – come ON! ModDem, I understand you point. I know many American Jews and I must admit to being puzzled about their allegiance to the Democratic Party. For me, however, its the unbelievably vile anti-Semitic commentary on display at far-left rallies and web sites that arouses my curiosity. I always ask them the same question: "Are you sure you want to be in the same party as these people?"
In the last few years, a number of them have come to realize that they do not.

Could just be he was there for so long, he was hired before FOX became known as "conservative" (closer to neutral, no slant). Or that they just don't really care about Hollywood and grabbed someone off the street to fill the spot.

Not only will I not shed tears for him, I am applauding this move by Fox! I quit reading his trash a couple of years ago because I go tired of his incessant and whiny writings. I wrote emails to him several times about his ridiculous rantings, and his obvious left-wing slant. He never replied. I finally wrote him and told him I was done reading him.
If I saw his name on a byline I went no further. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

My thoughts exactly. I stopped listening to him or reading him when one of the FOX anchors was talking to him about Michael Moore's "Farenheit 911" and Friedman was just fine with it. Actually, in my opinion,FOX generally has very bad entertainment reporters. Just a bunch of suck-ups.

I live in the United States, not Israel. So the criticism of this guy is that he is a bigot, but just not the "right" kind of bigot? One collectivist socialist criticizing another. Who cares. Neither of you support anything close to limited government or conservatism.
I am not a liberal, but his was only one of 2 columns I read on Foxnews.com. Both are gone now. Foxnews.com was a lot better when they ran all the editorial columns from actual conservatives and principled supporters of limited government. Liberals can be entertaining when they stick to entertainment. Maybe it's because unlike some so-called conservative entertainment writers and columnists, they don't pretend they are something they are not. They aren't claiming to be conservatives while supporting big government socialism and neocon foreign policy. Since when are anti-American Zionist socialists considered "conservative" anyway?

Congrats on the book. Looks interesting. But I'm gussing that in your research you found sources and researched your subject. Right? And that is my point. You didn't just write based on your gut feelings about the subject.
If someone says the Democrats essentially do not care for Israel and are somehow in cahoots with the Muslims I want to see a source that backs up that claim. That's all I ask. Why is that asking too much? Provide something where some Democrat is saying something that leads one to believe the charge.
