Leftists Go Texas-Cheerleader-Mom on Bristol Palin in ‘DWTS’
by Dana LoeschI studied dance for about 15 years, various disciplines, with classical ballet as my primary. Growing up I had lessons six days a week, planned to study ballet before journalism, and as a kid I even competed, once vomiting backstage in a trash can like a champ. I saw a lot in those days of privileged white suburban dance competitions. I saw stage moms who purchased false eyelashes for their girls at Sally’s Beauty Supply and linger backstage, stressing over routines more than their kids. I saw moms freak out if little Janie Smith scored higher in her jazz routine than their daughter and storm out of the backstage area leaving girls in their scary tan-flesh tights with severe ponytails and mothers holding Aqua Net cans all looking on in confusion.
Even though I’ve not competed for thirteen years, I had a flashback to those hair-sprayed school days the other night when I heard that Bristol Palin received death threats because she made it to the finals on “Dancing with the Stars.”
Dude, I thought. They finally hit that level of no-shame desperation. The left has gone all Texas cheerleader mom on Bristol Palin.
Sally Quinn rah-rah’s this outrage and her latest column reads more like dictation from a stage mom running down the Palins on behalf of liberalism.
On Bristol’s win:
Bristol had never danced and was up against some world-class dancers. That takes guts. I know. I’m a ballroom dancer myself. Dancing is my religion.
[...]
Bloggers, columnists and TV commentators jumped on the results. There must be cheating going on, they said. It was all a tea party plot. That could be the only explanation for this appalling miscarriage of justice.
Sally Quinn is such a serious ballroom dancer that she can’t tell a contest about popularity with ballroom dancing as a theme apart from a serious showcase of ballroom dancing skills.
My husband and I are “DWTS” fanatics. We plan our social life around it, often regretting invitations that fall on the night of the show. Only in emergencies would we try to TiVo.
[...]
We were having a dinner party and I made my guests leave the table to watch the final half of DWTS.
Oh dear.
Sarah Palin’s detractors point to the Christian right as the culprits here. The say groups organized voting schemes to game the system and were telling each other how to cheat when voting at ABC.com.
[...]
And though ABC says it is weeding out votes cast by cheaters, it only proves that there are groups trying to rig the voting.
I can’t tell you how much this cracks me up. There’s this story occurring right now in my hometown about massive questions surrounding voter fraud – and how the political dynasty here bucked the city board of elections to hire its security firm to police the polls in a city where dead people turn up all like “Thriller” on election day – but NO. The tea party must be cheating on a television reality show about dancing!
Perhaps Sarah Palin could say to her supporters that she hopes the stories of rigging the vote aren’t true; that she doesn’t approve of cheating and may the best person win. Whatever the reasons for this, it has left a bad taste in everyone’s mouth, not only for the perception of dishonesty, but because of the perceived determination of Palin”s supporters to do anything they have to do to help their candidate.
Quite honestly, I sincerely hope the right cheats their asses off. Why? A dude shot his television because she advanced to the finals. Because she’s getting death threats (two things which Quinn conveniently left out of her column. I guess that’s commonplace in the competitions she watches.) I want Bristol Palin to win because the left is so demonstrably bigoted, so prejudiced, so hateful, they’ve attacked this girl and said she faked her pregnancy, they’ve attacked her for being a teenage mother, for being a teenage mother who kept her baby, for running down every single choice she’s made in the public spotlight – and not in the spotlight by her choice, mind you. The left bears such a hatred for her mother that they’ve been gunning for Bristol Palin long before she was cast on “Dancing with the Stars,” and long before Sally Quinn turned a more light-hearted Annie Wilkes on her in a column. Progressives have been holding “Vote Against Bristol” parties. I hope the right goes shamelessly ACORN on DWTS voting. Apparently, it matters more to the left than actual for-real voting.
Quinn does finally nail it with some sense in her ending graph:
This could be a metaphor for things to come. Sarah Palin is a force to be reckoned with and if her supporters can influence a TV show of 23 million viewers they can have more serious influence on elections. And if they can mobilize the religious right then the Democrats better pay attention and start dancing as fast as they can.
Indeed.

They're only proving to the rest of the world what most of us already know. Liberalism is a mental disorder.
while thoroughly understanding this to be a cultural phenomenon…
It is SO hard to get worked up over anything quite as trivial as this. The producers, for their part, have assured us, the viewing public- that she is a fine young woman who works hard and the voting is all above board. The controversy seems that some may vote for her for political reasons.
Egads!
Question to afficianados of said series: Did Adam Lambert have a 'political' constituency as well? Yes, yes, different show, sure. But it would seem the dynamic is similar. People are voting for THEIR FAVORITES not necessarily 'the best'. But Obsession With All Things Palin being what it is this is elevated to a new level.
Poor kid. Let her dance…
It's funny, seeing the left just going nuts about this.
ACORN, vote early/vote often, dead people voting, SEIU intimidation, Black Panther intimidation, write-in cheating,. . . . . . and the left goes. . . "meh".
But Bristol Palin making it to the finals? Where's the ICBM's??? panicpanicpanic. . . . aaaiiiiggghhh!!!
Palin Derangement Syndrome at it's ugliest.
Palin Derangement Syndrome at it's ugliest.
Being that this is a repost from BJ, I'm reposting too:
Sarah should announce on DWTS that she's running for POTUS, after Bristol wins the compitition.
That will make many liberals turn those shotguns on themselves… ( After they get voting priorities in order…A stupid TV show makes them crazy, but actual cheating, like in NV, is really cool with all of them…)
Call it 'post birth' abortions… Suicide is such a loaded term
Hello my friend.
Of late, there appears to be a lot of "reposted" material.
I won't repost my numerous comments on this topic. In the grand scheme of things, they are just as irrelevant as the dance topic. Rather than reposting any of it, it all needs thrown on the compost heap.
That, is a "tell".
The well is running dry.

Hello my friend.
I must be the only one in the country to not be obsessed with all things Palin; and for sure I am the last one to know what DWTS is. I just figured that out today. Duh. Talk about dense and slow on the uptake.
actually because of your willful ignorance you are ahead of the game…
This- all of this- is just white noise to keep us busy while The Powers That Be decide our collective fates.
They need the distractions because their minion class isn't getting the job done for them- and they need to keep the masses confused. For now.
So ignore this. We do…
If the liberal world is so convinced the Tea Party is who keeps voting Bristol back on the show, why dont they just call up themselves and vote against her and for her competitors. What a bunch of whiners.
That would mean they'd have to work.
C'mon!
It's progressives we're talking about here.
It's funny; I find the temper tantrums and popping heads more amusing than the actual show. Oh those naughty Hillbuzz boyz, driving the Left insane.
Yea…
I was getting tired of Jimmah, NoKo, radical Islam, and Gary Condit….Oh and China, Russia and India…BUT
They've always done the cross-posts, as not everyone has the time to read all the posts on all the BIGS every day…
No biggie..
.You were dicussing "Empire of the Summer Moon" on Sat… I picked it up in hard cover…
Tough to put down…and tougher to believe…See what you mean about required reading at the 'war colleges'…Just fantastic…
My wilful ignorance? You're half right Although it might not be wilful, just natural.
It is very easy for me to ignore.
I limit myself to one hour and fifteen minutes of TV per day anymore. I tape Beck, because it isn't on when it is good for me to watch. I normally watch Beck, and the opening minutes of O'Reilley.
I am not on the internet like i used to be either. The past two days are an exception. I fill my time reading. I am surprised at how many what i thought to be solid, ratin=onal folks are caught up in the Palin kids dance recitals. It amazes me. Then there are those obsessed with whether her Momma is gonna run or not.
The world is spinning wildly out of control, and all we get is white noise. Even those writing articles here have been caught up in this phenomenon. I am surprised, and let down. The educational quality of material here has fallen right off a cliff.
The New Media has taken on a follow the herd mentality. The same one the old MSM got caught up in. I half expect them to traipse off to London and camp out all winter, to cover the line-bred Limey Princes wedding.
Considering that Sally Quinn owes her entire professional career to having slept her way to the top with Ben Bradlee (starting out as his mistress when she was nobody), she's the last person in the world with the right to feel any indignation over any perceived "unfair advantage" that Bristol Palin is getting for something less significant than what Sally's gotten from her way of getting ahead in life.
Is this any different than when Cloris Leachman won week after week on Dancing with the Stars or Sanjaya on American Idol when better contestants were voted off? This is part of these shows formats.
The voting public gets to vote therefore you may not always get the best candidate to win. I would urge Sally Quinn to watch John Zeigler's "How Obama Got Elected" for the best example of this truth.

look at the shiny object… isn't it pretty? It sure is shiny… That's what we're getting, Cowboy. You are missing absolutely nothing. There is very little in the way of useful information out there, anyway. You have a handle on it, pard…

Isn't it though?
Being from the Panhandle of Texas, I know all those little hole in the wall places of what was known as Comancheria. To think that they controlled everything north and south from Colorado to Mexico, everything east and west from New Mexico to East Texas, is hard to comprehend. When they went on the Rez, there were about 1,000 of them, holding Manifest Destiny in abeyance. The US at the time had a population of about 35 million. Every tribe on the Southern Plains, including the Apache feared them. It is hard to wrap ones head around.
I have an Uncle, who did three tours in Vietnam. He never cut his braids, from basic training forward. He is the fiercest man I ever met. Scary. He always would laugh, and tell me those old time Indians would make him look like a Quaker Preacher. They were fighting for their land, their families, their way of life. It was sheer survival. The same thing we are going to be up against. But that is another topic.
Do you understand why I think that book should be required at West Point? If it were not for McKenzie, Manifest Destiny would have stopped dead in its tracks. He understood fighting a tribal culture. I can fool myself as a human, and think that I understand it because of heritage, but as each subsequent generation moves one step further away, things are lost. I have another Uncle who is 75. His Great-Grandmother lived life on the Plains as a free Indian, and he has a old photo of her, standing in front of a tepee in a white buffalo dress, when they first moved onto the Rez. You can see something in the eyes of those in those old photo's. They all had a thousand yard stare.
Too bad the Pentagon can't learn from this. It would save a lot of American blood.
I'm like a raccoon.
It doesn't take much to entertain me.
Just throw some tinfoil down. As long as it is shiny, I'll pick it up and paw it around.
Look. What is that in the sky?
Is it a bird? Is it a plane?
Nah.
Nothing to worry about. Just a North Korean Missile contrail, headed South……………..
Um. . . guys, excuse me for butting in, but what if this N. Korea thing is a distraction as well?
Ireland gets a bail out.
The Fed pumps 600 billion in the economy
Something shoots off the coast of Kali.
I rarely wear the tinfoil hat but what if there is something that WE ARE NOT seeing?
I'll butt out now. Just thought I'd comment.
I had this very weird feeling: if the powder HAD been something dangerous and Bristol had been affected by it (killed or not), there would be liberals dancing in the street.
I really honest-to-God don't want to think like that, because rejoicing in the death of someone just because you hate their parent is…well, sickening. I would hope that there would be liberals who would decry this and scream for a full and real investigation.
Then again, those who would celebrate the death of someone just because they disagreed with them…well, they could convert to Islam and be done with it.
With all the crap that has been going on in this country for some time, I think it's fine to put the tin foil hat on. I don't really wear it myself either, but I've been pulling it out more and more lately.
As Deus said yesterday on some other thread – Bread and circuses.
I won't make this a long story but there was a time when i actually believed what was said on MSM. The more I learned, the more I questioned, the more I realized that I didn't have a clue. Two years ago, some friends and I started a political platform. We called it the Veritas Party. We just wanted honesty, we just wanted "truth".
Lemme tell you something, creating a platform will educate you in a HURRY!
Never been much of a fan of DWTS, but i hope Bristol does well. The best advice I can give to the leftist loons that obsess over this show is simply get your undies out of a wad and get a life you jack wagons.
Zombie movies have never entertained me, partly because I could never ground the monsters in a reality that made sense. However, this quote might finally provide a subtext that makes sense: "There’s this story occurring right now in my hometown about massive questions surrounding voter fraud – and how the political dynasty here bucked the city board of elections to hire its security firm to police the polls in a city where dead people turn up all like “Thriller” on election day …"
Possibly I could enjoy zombie movies if I imagined illegal voters being dispatched.
What I see here is that anyone attacking Palin makes her stronger and increases her influence. This is a woman who uses the ultimate ju jitsu…and turns every attack, every assault and every lie to her advantage. It doesn't matter what her opponents do, she always wins. Isn't that exactly what we need in a leader?
I'm really tired of waiting for another Reagan. That's not what we need right now. The issue is smaller government, more importantly self-government. If we honestly believe that we need a leader of great stature, then the statists are right…we need someone to tell us what to think and what to do.
Then, there is Sarah Palin, someone who listens. Someone who cannot be defeated in the public arena. Not ready? It's not about her. It's about us, and she understands that. The question is not whether or not our next president is ready, but are we?
Best regards,
Gail S http://www.backyardfence.wordpress.com
ok liberals, you can step off the ledge now, Bristol didn't win

Oh now they care about voter fraud? How is it the left doesn't see how warped their priorities are? Mental illness indeed.
Sally Quinn, one of the self appointed, self anointed intellectual elites gets all emotionally caught up in something as proletarian as a popular TV show with call-in voting? Rural clingers & trailer trash do that! She's confessing to more than initially meets the eye…..

Ballots and even voting machines found in car trunks long after election day…*yawn*
Popular daughter of popular politician gets lots of votes in popularity contest???
…WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!…
Having the vile Sally Quinn as the Washington Post's religion and faith columnist makes about as much sense as putting Dracula in charge of the blood bank.
That was great. Though she didn't win first place, Bristol made it to the final and caused the implosion of countless leftard heads week, after week, after week. For that, we owe her. Bristol has performed a fine service for her country. lol.

Yeah – you're pure – and why are you here blogging Jesus?
You don't understand – its not the leftist loons who are obsessing – its the right wing nutjobs who have fallen under the spell of HillBuzz.org and other websites that aren't really conservative at all. They have made these people obsess and vote for Bristol even though this display was not to their benefit.
And I'm a Republican. But they're nuts.

No we don't – she was an unpersonalble clod. And I'm a Sarah fan – but her daughter should stay close to home. And quit givning the "middle finger" to people.

You'll find that most all the ladies of left have travelled a similar road. I challenge ANYONE to give me an example otherwise. The #2 reason why they hate Sarah Palin (I won't even mention the #1 reason since its so obvious) is because she made her political capital without simply marrying into it.
You know what's ridiculous? This writer posits that people objecting to this girl getting into the finals makes are liberals, that all the hostility to her presence is based on politics. These reality shows have devout fanbases and they get all worked up for reasons that have nothing to do with left and right polemics. You have to keep in mind that not even all Republicans like Sarah Palin (the most recent example, Barbara Bush), and a lot of people are getting just plain sick of her. Now her daughter gets on this show, strictly because of her famous mom, and you know right away the Tea Party people are going to support her, and they would have even if she'd had polio and been hobbling around on crutches. That guy who shot his television got angry because he knew her presence was due solely to politics. He seemed pissed that politics has even invaded an apolitical dance contest. It is kind of a shame that even a dance contest becomes something else, and we simply can't have fun without the wingnuts making more of it than it is.
But you all need your daily dose of vileness to get you through the day, and this site is excellent at construing any story into an excuse for liberal bashing. And like baby chicks eager for the mama chicks regurgitated worms into your begging gullets, you gulp it down, now ready for the day ahead. Look at these comments. You're like children on a schoolyard, so happy to be part of a snarling gang. However, to my surprises, Bristol lost and not a single one of you has suggested that it was the result of a liberal media conspiracy.
sammybull! You've said a mouthful. A hale & hearty AMEN! to your assessment.

How come no one is commenting on the fact that Jennifer Gray's father was entertainer Joel Gray? She had training in dance and theater as a youth. Obviously doors got opened for her.
And her biggest fan? Jamie Lee Curtis another someone's daughter.
My opinion both would never have made it without connections.

Oh, woe is us! Whatever shall we do??? Bristol Palin made it to the finals? It's the end of the world as we know it! Armeggedon is upon us! Everyone needs to don our best sackcloth & ashes.
Is this all liberal nutjobs have to do? Proof, once again, that liberals are perfectly willing to gag at swallowing a gnat, but will gleefully choke down a camel. If this doesn't show how tiny and nitpicky the liberal mind (if there is such a thing) can be over inconsequential things.
Moreover, it shows the utter hatred they have for anything named Palin. Consider how they trudged Trig through the mud! Nice. To them Sarah Palin is the embodiment of the AntiChrist!
Yep! Libertards must have spent all their time calling 1-800-WAH-WAWA instead of voting.
Not to be crude, but Sarah Palin has more balls than Barack Hussein Obama and the entire liberal establishment.
The blamestream media just doesn't get it! The more they attack Sarah Palin & her family, the more she shows her ability to control and direct things to her advantage. The more she shows what a true leader is and can do. Isn't that what our country needs?
My wife started out as a fan of Jennifer Grey because she really loved her in 'Dirty Dancing.' But as the show progressed she began to see Jennifer as something of a prima donna. All that stuff about her injuries…puh-leeze! If her knee was as bad as she let on & if she truly did rupture a disc in her back there is no way she'd have been able to continue. I got tired of hearing about how hurt she was…blah, blah, blah. Sympathy played a role I'm sure. In the end, we were praying Ms. Grey didn't the mirrored ball because of her cockiness…JG projected an attitude that turned us both off.
DWTS is supposed to be about improvement over the course of the show. If anyone turned it 180 degrees it was Bristol Palin.
Actually, Sally did mention the DWTS Shotgun guy, approvingly . . . apparently because she wasn't aware that he was off his meds. And I haven't read all the comments, but I'm sure that someone's noted that by her own admission she has been voting via all six of her phones.
Norman Lear happened to be one of the dinner guests, and he got caught up in the drama, as well. Goodness, it's hard for normal people to be heard over the din of those Tea Partiers.
Dana, This is intellectual Cheese Wiz.
So we have people getting worked up over something that doesnt actually matter. Other people getting worked up over people who are getting worked up over this same meaningless thing.
I think its time to start watching less tv.
I laughed out loud last night when Bristol said she hoped she would win because it would be a middle finger to all the people who hate her mother and her. You go girl! I heard lefty heads explode as this poor girl, who has gotten death threats for merely existing, express the only sentiment that made sense. I made a mental tally of which conservative bloggers would dump on her for saying it.
I wonder how liberals will spin her third place finish. Viewer voting is legitmate, in which case all their previous accusations about cheating were wrong, or the judges pre-arranged the scores to compensate for the viewer voting, in which case the contest is rigged. Either way, liberals will justify it because the end always justifies the means.
Did people really fall for the "injury" theme when it came to Grey's narrative on the show? I thought it was obvious it was all ginned up drama even before last night, but the slipped disc story was just too stupid to be believed by anyone. On what planet can you get a slipped disc in the morning, go to the hospital and get it "fixed" and then dance that night? And if you really had a serious neck problem would you allow a man to jump over your head the way Grey did on Monday night? A bad knee? The woman can do a complete split and then get up by herself. I wish my 50 year old knees were as bad as hers. Cripes. What a farce they went through to take a ringer and make her the underdog.

We certainly are amusing ourselves to death. Situations like this remind me and reinforce the idea that Washington has become a new Hollywood.
Miss Palin came in third, and she deserved it.
She came from no show business or athletic background. She worked and danced her butt off week after week. The judges told her she deserved to be there and the public agreed.
Texas Mom Cheerleader is the perfect way to describe the reaction of the haters. I've always thought the term "haters" was overused and kind of silly, but it is perfect in this case. They just want to hate on this girl because of who she is.
I figure when a person is given fame for any reason, they should have the opportunity to make some $$$ to make up for losing their privacy. Bristol can probably put her baby through college on this DWTS money and good for her. I actually feel the same about Levi. If Playgirl wants to pay him to show his butt, good for him. You gotta make that money while you can. These people have a child to support.
Death threats over a dancing show. The left shows exactly what they are once again.
Congratulations to Jennifer Grey, who deserved the win. Even though she is basically famous for being a dancer, she has overcome so much in her life and deserves this comeback.
What I can't figure out is who would vote for Kyle Massey? Terrible dancer. Why isn't that controversial?

ho! Great standup stuff- you should do amateur night at the comedy shack…
If you are motivated by hate, you must be a democrat. Unfortunately, that is where the democrat has moved. When my Grand parents were democrats it was a completely different party. Senator Zell Miller tried to tell us this a few years ago, but hardly anyone listened.
Bristol lost, and it wasn't the result of a liberal media conspiracy. It was because she wasn't the best dancer.
Wingnuts didn't start this. The producers started it by having a brainstorm: "Let's get Bristol Palin on the show! All the political controversy will make for GREAT ratings!"
Liberals simply fell into the trap. They heard the name "Palin" and immediately started hating. As usual…

Wingnuts didn't start this. The producers started it by having a brainstorm: "Let's get Bristol Palin on the show! All the political controversy will make for GREAT ratings!"

the NK affair- all of this- is quite shiny. People like shiny. It draws their attention. So, you are correct to believe something onerous lurks around the corner. We'll explain it this way: these are a series of 'tipping points'. You have the riots in Europe, Greece- now in California. All 'students' protesting small tuition increases. All at once. Hmmmm- as Top once said, 'coincidences are for civilians'. We devalue the dollar through 'quantitative easing'. A missle is fired off the LA coastline. Obummer goes to Seoul for the Gee 20. The NK's fire 200 rounds of artillery at a disputed island. Gold is the new bubble. Next, the stock market AND gold tumble, aiding yet another fleecing of the public- haven't bled them dry yet- and the dollar rallies and the new script we have printed now has more value. Then the retaliation to THAT comes. So, no tinfoil hat needed…
Well, that's what this site tells you happened. But I don't know any liberals who watch this show. Do you have any evidence that liberals dislike Bristol? Do we even pay that much attention to her? You see, what happened is. this site told you that liberals have some wild reaction to this dance contest, and you jumped into the trap, eager for another chance to spout partisan-stupid comments.
How come every photo of a DWTS couple appears with a lady's bare leg wrapped around her gentleman's waist? Is everything about sex?
Absolutely. Let's start with boycotting talent shows.
And reality TV.
Hey, as a liberal, I'll tell you how we'll spin it: we won't. We're not watching the show, you douche bag. All this stuff about what liberals are thinking isn't coming from liberals but from people writing about liberals at sites like this.

Didn't a group of scientists just recently prove that Liberalism is a genetic defect sorta like Down's syndrome?
Thanks for clearing that up. As a former liberal myself I appreciate the validation. Now run along and wish death on some right wing Christian.
Naw, I think you have a reading retention issue, leftie. If you bothered to read the articles before shooting off yer pie hole, you would know this site PROVED WITH FACTUAL REPORTING that liberals had a rabid dog reaction to Bristol Palin winning on a trite worthless show. This goes a long way to PROVE that liberalism is a social, genetically defective disease. The mentally ill are in the exclusively liberal ward and I think you just earned a bed.
I have to disagree with you about Kyle. The middle judge (the old guy) said the truest thing I've heard since the show started this season. Bristol and Kyle really are two sides of the same coin. Both were 19 and overwieght and out of shape when the season started. Kyle had the showmanship, but lacked the technique. Bristol got the technique but couldn't summon the showmanship. I think if anyone deserved to win it was Kyle. Well, before that awful Tootsie Roll dance. That was bad. But the fix was in by then and he had to score higher than Bristol so he was given higher scores for that debacle. But he deserved to be there.
The biggest mystery to me is how two teenagers managed to work out everyday for 14 weeks and not lose any weight.
Larry, you are one of many people that have had their eyes opened. And I'm one of them. A former moderate liberal that also believed the MSM, especially about Republicans (although I never believed they were racist because I didn't believe in unlimited welfare and affirmative action either – maybe that was my first clue! LOL!).
As soon as you start using your brain, it's impossible to be a progressive.
DWTS to me is a wasre of time, but I respect others who like it. What grabs me is that there are those who are so consumed with this mindless goop, as to be so controled by it, they feel that they have to call in death threats because their lives are so affected by it. Some people need to get a small life.

I've always been intrigued by Quanah Parker and Comanches. It looks like I'll have to give this a try – it sounds really interesting. Thanks for the inadvertent tip!

You make a good argument there about Republicans not liking Sarah Palin. Conservatives always anxioulsly hold their collective breath when Barbara Bush speaks–I know I do– 'cause Babs is like the queen of conservatism.
That's sarcasm, bucko.
She never deserved to be on the show. I say that because the show is called Dancing With The Stars, not Dancing with the hypocritical, dumb, daughter of an idiot, ex governor who can see Russia from her backyard. She should never have been on the show and definitely did not deserve to win.
She does have celebrity status in that people know her name and she is in the public eye.
That would take all the fun out of it for him.
They can't afford a plane ticket on extended unemployment. And without the groping it leaves them in a bad mood.
