A Win For The Obama Worshippers
by Dan GiffordWhen John F. Kennedy was elected president, I did not believe it was possible to top the Kennedy cult fantasy craziness summed up by violinist Isaac Stern when he visited the White House:
I felt as though I were inside a golden coach drawn by four pure-bred white horses into the glitter of mythic Camelot.
I was wrong. Obama-mania has it all beat.
Now, while I acknowledge that Obama’s ascendancy (he is “The One,” after all) to the White House shows Americans have rejected racism, his demigod anointment by the masses indicates way too many Americans have not eschewed the allures of the personality cult. Here is LA LA Land, some of our most highly educated and creative have seen fit to use their children to praise “The One:” Sing for Change: Barack Kids Serenade Dear Leader Obama. Somewhere else, children have been put in military uniforms and made to give special solutes in pledge to Obama: Obama Youth – Junior Fraternity Regiment. If “Obama Youth” and massed cherubic child voices of praise for “The One” remind you of Kim Jun Il worship or Mao worship or others that came to a bad end, you probably have not overcome your racism and are in need of reeducation.
So while we get ready to view the grand 150 million dollar historical revision of Abraham Lincoln as a Democrat (that’s change, right?) by Obama on Abe’s Bible during the inaugural spectacle about to unfold, I believe it may be a good idea to review who really won when the votes were counted. The best summation of that I’ve seen was allegedly an editorial by London’s Daily Mail. I cannot find it on the Mail site and The Canada Free Press could find no source to accurately attribute it either. So I offer it with the admission that I would love to plagiarize it as my own ala a number of Obama’s speech lines, but I’m really not a Michael Moore kinda guy:
Obama’s Victory
A victory for the hysterical Oprah Winfrey, the mad racist preacher Jeremiah Wright, the mainstream media who abandoned any sense of objectivity long ago, Europeans who despise America largely because they depend on her, comics who claim to be dangerous and fearless but would not dare attack genuinely powerful special interest groups.
A victory for Obama-worshippers everywhere. A victory for the cult of the cult. A man who has done little with his life but has written about his achievements as if he had found the cure for cancer in between winning a marathon and building a nuclear reactor with his teeth.
Victory for style over substance, hyperbole over history, rabble-raising over reality.
A victory for Hollywood, the most dysfunctional community in the world. Victory for Streisand, Spielberg, Soros and Sarandon.
Victory for those who prefer welfare to will and interference to independence. For those who settle for group think and herd mentality rather than those who fight for individual initiative and the right to be out of step with meager political fashion.
Victory for a man who is no friend of freedom. He and his people have already stated that media has to be controlled so as to be balanced, without realizing the extraordinary irony within that statement. Like most liberal zealots, the Obama worshippers constantly speak of Fox and Limbaugh, when the vast bulk of television stations and newspapers are drastically liberal and anti-conservative. Senior Democrat Chuck Schumer said that just as pornography should be censored, so should talk radio. In other words, one of the few free and open means of popular expression may well be cornered and beaten by bullies who even in triumph cannot tolerate any criticism and opposition.
A victory for those who believe the state is better qualified to raise children than the family, for those who prefer teachers’ unions to teaching and for those who are naively convinced that if the West is sufficiently weak towards its enemies, war and terror will dissolve as quickly as the tears on the face of a leftist celebrity.
A victory for social democracy even after most of Europe has come to the painful conclusion that social democracy leads to mediocrity, failure, unemployment, inflation, higher taxes and economic stagnation. A victory for intrusive lawyers, banal sentimentalists, social extremists and urban snobs
Congratulations, America!
By the way, your education camp invitation will be mailed sometime during the next four years and attendance is mandatory

Hmm. I guess you forgot about those “Our Leader” billboards featuring George H.W. Bush. Or maybe somehow those were okay. You’re not wrong to caution against personality cults; you’re just wrong not to recognize that your side is guilty too. Perhaps you feel that because your intellectual might allowed you to resist the groupthink manifestos being handed down at the height of 9/11 hysteria, but it’s easy to go back and document how many did not resist. So yes, warn against personality cults–but of any form, ideology, or party.
Great article and very insightful. The Zug misses a big difference between the 9-11 ‘hysteria’ and the Oprah hysteria. One is self induced. One is a natural reaction to a traumatic moment in history. Oprah/Hollywood have lives of little substance so worshipping at the altar of Obama has become their religion. As much as the left likes to make fun of the religiosity of the right, they seem to be unable to see their own religious zealotry. It just has a different face.
A man has the right to voice is right to free speech. If one does not agree with his views, it does not make him a racist. That thought process itself is racist and makes it sound as if his displeasure with Obama’s policy’s is based on the color of his skin, and to the contrary it is the content of his policy’s. The cowards way out is to start calling names and at which point you have lost the debate!
Dan, remember one thing, ” all glory is fleeting” none of this will last.. This is like a flash bulb going off in your eyes. Obama has no experience and he is clueless on what he is doing. he has no convictions and will compromise to the worst pressure. the media can only cover up his butt for so long. In time we will see an incompetent as we did with Jimmy Carter and this will galvanized the conservatives to put up candidates to take back our government because these leftist mad dogs are now going to pass every leftist wet dream nonsense they have been waiting 75 years for. These mad dog racist haters of white America are going to step on their wankers as they grow in more arrogance, this is payback for them and the hate will surface. But as Newton’s law of motion says, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. What the mad dogs don’t understand they think there are more of them then us. Obama is in the white house because millions of conservatives stayed home as a protest against McCain. Liberals can’t understand that thinking. Liberals would for for Hitler if he embrace their platform. This is how they think, but they offer nothing for the county but more high taxes because Obama has to pay off the big city mayors and unions that can out and voted for me. This has been the Dem playbook for a 100 years, Oprah is just a minor annoyance. Obama is going down because he can’t cut it, like Carter couldn’t. Great article. Fame has replaced qualifications, emotion has replaced fact, looks have replaced capabilities. The majority have voted for easy street, only it’s not easy. I am so glad I am not in the country right now to see the hero worship of a man who has done nothing. I have had this question running around in my head for over a year now. When you are a Comunity Organizer, who do you work for, I mean, who sighns your pay checks? How is that a job? What company is that? Or is it a city job? It seems that America voted for Obama as a way to give up control of their lives and the lives of everyone around them. It’s almost like everyone on the left is saying, “lead us, teach us, show us what is best for us, so we don’t have to work or think anymore” Sad, very sad.
Isn’t it ironic that everyone was so upset with Rick Warren (because he agrees with Obama) and then Joseph Lowery gets up there and delivers such a backwards, disgusting racist rant.

I don’t think it’s intellectually lazy to be wary of personality cults of all kinds. What’s intellectually lazy is to recognize such in the opposition yet fail to recognize it on your side. The notion that dissenters and those who challenged the president were “America haters” somehow equates to “rallying around the president” is an interesting bit of mental gymnastics, one that doesn’t stand up to much scrutiny.
As I said, it’s right to warn against personality cults of all stripes–Obama, Bush, whoever. But to damn the opposition while excusing it for your side is nothing more than dumb partisanship.
A billboard of Bush with the phrase “Our Leader” hardly equates to the Obama movement, not by an inch. This is a guy, amongst fainting and crying audience members, promised to make the oceans recede. Your entire argument is intellectually dishonest.
I think it’s hilarious that people ridicule the method (email forward) of the above while totally ignoring the truth in the message of the text. But then, that’s liberal SOP.

But the article says this is one billboard funded by one guy (private money). What we saw yesterday was a million people and the event was brought to you by the federal taxpayers, taxpayers from the states of Maryland and Virginia, the District of Columbia, and some private donors.

I’m not sure Martin Luther King would have approved of Obama as president, if MLK was the man of principle we believe he is. Before candidates were even identified for this most recent election, he would have said “don’t judge based on the color of skin, but on qualifications and character”. I’m happy for the black community that they have the candidate they’ve long awaited. But in truth, if the black community had followed the advice of their leader, they would have voted McCain, who was more than 7 times more qualified than Obama, and had significant, tangible experience reaching across the aisle and working with both parties. That’s the truth, and everyone knows it, whether they admit it or not. I don’t say Obama can’t be a great leader. But we’ll see if he’s truly capable, or one of those guys who always wondered how far his marketing and persuasion skills could get him, and once he found out by becoming president, suddenly realized, “uh oh…what do I do now?”

Nothing to add. You have pretty well covered the foreign born socialist George Sorros victory, and his stand in, President Barrack Hussian Obama. Too bad that the first black President is also the first American Socialist President. Looks like Rome beat the USA in length of time for Republics to last. It would be great if a black person ran against Obama and restored this nation to ‘the REPUBLIC for which we stand’.

When I start reading about kids in uniforms and education camps it brings to mind things I read about the early days of Nazi Germany. Lets not let that get started here. That may appeal to those who like the idea of being ruled and cared for by a King, but it doesn’t me. I think of the Declaration of Independence and our Constitution and think perhaps it’s time to go ahead and buy that 12 gauge while I can.

Actually, I do now remember that billboard, and I also remember that it was paid for by one guy, and I also remember finding it a bit creepy at the time. I just forgot about it because it didn’t seem all that significant or indicative of Bush supporters in general. And it wasn’t. Which is kind of the point. Of course, there are sheeplike Bush supporters on the right. But not all that many, even right after 911. Sheeplike Obama supporters? They’re everywhere. Of course, I’m surrounded by liberals, so perhaps I see things a bit differently.
At any rate, throughout the past 8 years, I’ve read many, many conservative criticisms of Bush. Yet, constantly, conservatives are criticized for being sheep-like followers of Bush, while most conservatives I know of barely consider Bush a fellow-traveler. But then Obama comes along, and the left embraces him in a way that would embarass conservatives if we similarly fawned over Bush in that manner, and yet, I’m supposed to accept the argument that “both sides do it”? Sorry, not buying it. It’s just not the same.
And one more thing: Support for Bush was based on anger at foreign entities who attacked us. Support for Obama is largely based on anger at, well, other Americans, i.e., Bush and those who voted for him. Again, it’s just not the same.
Also, I forgot one more thing: Where were all the creepy odes to Bush from school children and celebrities that we now see in reference to Obama? Just didn’t happen. Sure, there were a few patriotic songs that came out from the likes of people like Toby Keith, but they were hardly anthems to Bush, just pro-America (although a bit corny).
So, again I say: Just not the same.
I was an infant when the Beatles invaded the States. Ergo I never witnessed Beatlemania. Now in my 44th year I am a witness to Obamamania.
I can’t say I am caught up in it. It leaves me luke warm at best. Maybe it’s because my generation doesn’t have hero’s. I’m sure President Obama is a nice guy, but the Obamamania train has passed me by.

Thank heavens there are common sense people in the media who actually see what 54,000,000 people in the US saw during the election. It was ignorance and arrogance that got this man elected. I'm puzzled as to why Obama's first order of business this week involved helping out Muslim terrorists. Couldn't that have waited. Aren't there more important things to do than freeing people who just assume wipe the United States off the face of the earth? But then again, Obama did say in his book that if America ever let him down he still had his Muslim brothers. He raked Bush over the coals for spending money and running up a deficit, yet he proposes spending almost a trillion dollars on a stimulus package that history has proven will have little if any positive effect on our economy. The Dems crucified Bush for spending 45 million on his inauguration, yet they say nothing when Obama spends 150 million during difficult economic times. Wake up America! The Republican party needs to start preparing now for how they'll reverse the mess he is creating. Obama supporters that don't think higher taxes will effect them are wrong – higher taxes will mean more layoffs, lower salaries, less benefits, a higher cost of living, etc. This will only happen in our dreams, but wouldn't it be great if Democratic congressmen/senators/representatives would start changing parties to help stop Obama from changing the US into a socialistic nightmare.
This needs to be framed and hung in every place that is required to have a picture of the president, and then every school.
I don’t think this is from the Daily Mail. Check their website, do a Google search. It’s nowhere to be found. I suspect it’s an anonymous rant that’s gone viral. An excellent piece, no doubt about that.

Awesome article. Well written and unfortunately so true. Outsiders didn’t drink the kool-aid and can clearly see that Obama is the biggest fraud ever perpetrated on the American people. Remember, half of Americans didn’t fall for Obama and feel exactly like this guy from the UK. Obama talks about Change, Change, Change, but yet the same old folks that have been in Washington for decades are now his advisors and most of what he wants to implement has been tried in many other countries including the United states (i.e., Jimmy Carter)and has failed miserably. We’re stuck with Obama for at least 4 years and when 59% of the voting population no longer have to pay taxes he will surely be elected a second term. It’s a sad time in America.
