That, rather than the fact that Miss California answers the gay marriage question as the voters of her state did, is the real scandal of last weekend’s Miss USA pageant. Hilton’s subsequent misogynistic rants–calling Miss California Carrie Prejean a “dumb bitch” and saying he regarded her as “the C-word”–should have immediately generated censure from those involved with the contest. Instead, two co-directors of the Miss California event have blasted Miss California.
“I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman,” Prejean answered Hilton. “No offense to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised.” Hilton intolerantly celebrates that the answer cost Prejean the Miss USA crown. “That’s not the kind of woman I want to be Miss USA,” he told MSNBC. “Miss USA should represent all Americans, and with that answer she instantly was divisive.” But Hilton asked the question, and giving a definitive answer–which is what he asked for–inevitably would have alienated some large group of people. And had she answered Hilton’s ideological quiz correctly, how would that not be divisive to somebody out there?

That was my first thought – why is Perez Hilton judging a beauty pageant? NBC and the Miss USA program owe Miss California a big apology. Perez Hilton accuses Miss CA of being divisive, while ignoring the fact that ANY answer would have been divisive, because this is not a subject that people agree on. Then to call her a bitch and c*** is beyond the pale. Where are the women's groups defending Miss CA's right to have her own opinion and lambasting Hilton for demeaning women? Just one more hate-monger on the left.
Maybe if Perez (a do-nothing celeb.. how the hell do some of these people get famous) would have asked a different question, it wouldn't be so controversial. (I thought the Miss USA gig was not about politics.) He talks about "uniting" people. He forgot America is about Majority Rules, not uniting people on a not-so-common-cause. I bet many other ladies had the same opinion. Miss California was just the brave one who actually could speak her mind. She should have won the crown. Perez needs to just go back to the cafe and shut the hell up.
I guess it's not ok for someone who believes that gay marriage is wrong to have an opinion. She didn't say what this moron wanted to hear so he did all he could to shut her up. What I find most interesting is that the Pagaent administration has distanced themselves from her answer.
This is the Miss America pagaent, which infers Mrs.;, which infers marriage. If so, can gay males, transexuals and non-gender specific individuals enter the pagaent? What does the California Supreme Court have to say about this? Can we really find a reason to allow a distinction based upon gender that denies the basic civil right of being declared Miss America to a specific culturally ascribed gender class? The lack of inclusion in the pagaent belies the adminsitration's claim of inclusionist thought. Is not the pagaent just another sexist-homophobic hotbed of redneck limbic brain inflamation?

What is funny is that Miss CA will be in the news and everyone will know what she said, and possibly be remembered long after the contest. I already have no idea, without looking, who actually won from what state. Besides, who watches these contests anymore? Maybe men for the swimsuit competitions.

They were meant to (hopefully) get people at HotAir to not fall in to the "trap" of discussing what Perez Hilton wants, and therefore give him some kind of power. I have read his blog a few times, (unfortunately), and he does seem to have a thing for Andy Vandy Cooper. This question SHOULD NOT have been asked, Hilton SHOULD NOT have been picked as a judge, and as this is the answer the President he pushed so hard for gives, why is it ok for him to call ANY young woman a B1tc# or a C*nt? That should be when NBC demands he apologises to their remaining viewers. If not, I say that should be yet another reason not to watch their stations. As for the pageant being an important thing, maybe not to you, but to the girls competing it is. They get scholarships and other opportunities from these events. Give them a break. Espousing traditional values is not a horrible thing.

Speaking of the term "beauty pageant": The biggest reason they have talent portions was that feminists complained that we were treating beauty pageant contestants as if their beauty was the only thing that mattered about them. Of course, that's not the case — but that's the main factor of a beauty pageant, its sole f__king raison d'etre in fact. If we're not allowed to judge based on looks, then there's no difference between a beauty pageant and any other talent show — and now that we have American Idol and similar junk, that would make it superfluous.
During the broadcast, I said to my wife that I thought Miss Kentucky was the prettiest of the final 5, but that Miss California should win, primarily because I don't like to see Miss USA get blown off the stage at the Miss Universe pageant by the Central and South American gals. While Miss Kentucky is a striking brunette who could hold her own in the looks dept. with the sensual and dusky beauties from Brazil, Venezuela, Argentina, etc., I thought she might get lost in the shuffle of stunning brunettes at the Miss Universe pageant; Miss California was a striking blonde, and seemed to stand out more than the other blonde finalist, Miss North Carolina, and would give the Miss Universe judges a vivacious alternative.
After Miss California's answer, I turned to my wife and said "She's just lost the crown. Perez Hilton reacted to that answer like he had just swallowed a turd." This is one of the few times I am sad that I was right about something.
Of course, Mr. Hilton demands tolerance and respect for his "lifestyle". Unfortunately, he does not possess the character to extend tolerance and respect to those who disagree with him on the issue of gay marriage.
What is important is that one more time the fascists of the Left get to impose their views on everyone else and still pose as the open and tolerant among us. They establish a new black list, while constantly whining about how their own opinions are disrespected. All opinions but their should be silenced and vilified. I don't care about this pageant either, and I have always marveled at people who put their fates in the hands of figure skating and gymnastic judges and idiots like Perez Hilton. Miss California was set up. All the candidates and staff know each other and their backgrounds and their sociopolitical views. Miss Prejean had probably stated her views previously and had made enemies among the haters and irreligious secularists and gays in the group so this was their way of backstabbing a strong contender. They demand tolerance but are intolerant.. Hilton played the gay and flamboyant stooge in this dramedy (with the help of others because he isn't that smart). I'm being kind. He's an idiot as his over-the-top, intolerant reaction/words indicate. He whould never have been a judge on the show if he hadn't been chosen to play a specific role.
If the pageant wants to be taken seriously and not as just another cultural freakshow, stupidity like this needs to be curtailed. You're behind the post-modern cultural curve. "Female" is a cultural construct, which is how a court can say "marriage" does not require a "male" and a "female". For example, in Gainseville, Florida, where they are trying to enact a statute to end discriminatory "Male" and "Female" bathrooms, they used this language: "an inner sense of being a specific gender, or the expression of a gender identity by verbal statement, appearance, or mannerisms, or other gender-related characteristics of an individual with or without regard to the individual’s designated sex at birth.”
So, the Pagaent needs to do more than disavow a 'politically incorrect' answer to a question. It needs to end it's own discriminatory policy of defining "unmarried females" as being female!

Um… no, we're NOT about Majority Rules. That's mob-rule. We're a REPUBLIC, i.e. we have proportionate-representation precisely to PREVENT the majority from consistently overuling minority opinion.
I think that's the problem. If holding Miss Prejean's opinion is enough to bar you from something as inconsequential as a beauty pageant crown, then in what area would her opinion be considered irrelevant?
We know that any judge who holds this opinion can no longer be confirmed. (Roberts and Alito slipped in before the tipping point.) Could admissions officers ask this question of college applicants? Could this question be included in job interviews?
If expressing the belief that marriage requires one man and one woman is defined by the prevailing media as so hate-filled that pageant officials must denounce Miss Prejean—tacitly agreeing with Mr. Hilton that she is a c***, by the way—then why wouldn't colleges and workplaces be allowed to exclude such purveyors of hate?

Some people just don't seem to get that gay marriage doesn't apply to most people. They either for it, against it, or don't care. It's not exactly an important issue like keeping kids off drugs or improving the economy. Perez Hilton isn't really a person of any importance, just a guy who posts other people's photos on his site. It's a TMZ thing, it makes me want to go back to the gold old days of journalistic integrity like A Current Affair. I mean, it's good by comparison. If gay guys screaming at hot woman are the future of television, I really want to just read a book.

Never forget that the original intent of the Boy Scouts was to take young men out into the forest and teach them how to camp. Perez Hilton simply took it to the wrong extreme.
While gay marriage is an important issue to discuss, I’m sick of these lefties using “gotcha” tactics in places typically outside of political discourse…and getting away with it.
What if the question was a pro-life question from an ardent pro-life judge and that judge sabotaged a leftie contestant in front of a right-leaning crowd? How much do you want to bet that the MSM would be all over the questioner and not the response?
I made the mistake of leaving the channel with “Entertainment Tonight” on and they spent a total of 15 to 20 seconds on Miss CA’s side, then proceeded to not only spend a lot of time with Perez, but then followed up with other pro-Perez interviews…as if that view was “the middle”. Lefties are just pouring it on throughout our culture and winning!
There’s not an easy answer, but we need to somehow band together and stay focused on their tactics, and not start arguing amongst ourselves about whatever the topic may be. That gives them power.

Gays should be able to get married, plain and simple, all arguments against gay marriage are garbage, but here is what angers me about this – the fact that this woman is being raked over the coals for disagreeing with the left wing media while agreeing with the majority of Californians, and the fact that, as the ugliest of the Hilton sisters agrees, it cost her the crown. Morally this is the equivalent of not allowing someone to be Ms USA because she campaigned for Clinton during the Primaries. As in all things, the entrants should be judged on their admittedly dubious merits not on their political correctness. And incidentally, the reason people are surprised that Susan Boyle has talent is that when they see ugly people on the media it's usually a talentless nothing like Perez Hilton.
I thank the stars above that Perez Hilton is not using only his limbic brain nor suffering from "Stockholm Syndrome." What a high intellect he is.

I find it hysterical that this has become such a hot subject. A few observations: Perez Hilton is a complete and utter douche and a self promoting phony. Only gay men and straight women watch the ball gown competition. The whole point of these "pageants" are hot looking women strutting up and down a stage in skimpy bathing suits. And lastly, during the Q and A portion women, men both straight and gay all head for the bathroom cause who gives a crap what these bubble skulls think about world events.
